1. PM NARENDRA MODI RELEASES BOOK TITLED THE BIRDS OF BANNI GRASSLAND
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a book titled “The Birds of Banni Grassland” in New Delhi.
ii. The book was presented to the Prime Minister by the scientists of Gujarat Institute of Desert Ecology
iii. The Birds of Banni Grassland is book based on environment and consists of a compilation of the research work, relating to more than 250 species of birds found in the Banni area of Kutch, Gujarat.

2. SWEDEN INAUGURATES WORLD’S FIRST ELECTRIC ROAD
i. Sweden inaugurated  an electric road in Sandviken to conduct tests with electric power for hybrid heavy transports on public roads.
ii. Sweden becomes first country in the world to have electric road.
iii. The tests will continue up through 2018 and will provide knowledge of how electric roads work in practice.
iv. The road E16 tests will involve a current collector on the roof of the hybrid heavy truck’s cab that will feed the current down to a hybrid electric motor in the truck.
v. It has the potential to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions.

3. CSIR LAUNCHES INDIA’S FIRST ANTI DIABETIC AYURVEDIC DRUG BGR -34
i. The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research  has launched BGR-34, an anti-diabetic ayurvedic drug designed for type 2 Diabetes mellitus.
ii. The anti-diabetic ayurvedic drug BGR-34 has been jointly developedby National Botanical Research Institute and Central Institute for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants .
iii. BGR-34 BGR-34 works by controlling blood sugar and limiting the harmful effects and toxicity of other drugs.
iv. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research CSIR is an autonomous body and the largest research and development  organisation in India.

4. JITU RAI WINS SILVER MEDAL IN ISSF WORLD CUP
i. Indian shooter Jitu Rai won silver medal at the ISSF  Shooting World Cup held in Azerbaijan.
ii. He shot 199.5 score to bag the silver medal in men’s 10m air pistol.
iii. It was Jitu Rai’s second medal in a World Cup 2016 season and earlier had won the gold medal in the free pistol event in the first World Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand.

5. MAJULI IN ASSAM BECOMES INDIA’S FIRST ISLAND DISTRICT
i. Majuli is the World’s largest river island located in the Brahmaputra River in Assam
ii.The Government of Assam approved majuli  as a district and now it become the first island district in the country.
iii. It is a riverine delta a unique geographical occurrence and a result of the dynamics of the Brahmaputra river system.
iv. It is the largest mid river delta system in the world.

6. PRADHAN MANTRI SURAKSHIT MATRITVA ABHIYAN STARTED
i. Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan launched by PM Narendra Modi .
ii. The scheme aims at boosting the health care facilities for the pregnant women, especially the poor.
iii. It also seeks to protect pregnant ladies from infectious diseases.
iv. Under the scheme, the pregnant ladies will be given free health check-up and required treatment for free on 9th of every month.

1. INDIA BECAME THE 35TH FULL MEMBER OF MISSILE TECHNOLOGY CONTROL REGIME
i. India has joined the Missile Technology Control Regime today as a full member.
ii. India's entry into the regime as its thirty-fifth member will enable India to buy missile technology and also improve joint ventures with Russia.
iii. The aim of the MTCR is to restrict the proliferation of missiles, complete rocket systems and unmanned air vehicles.

2. PM NARENDRA MODI LAUNCHES SMART CITY MISSION PROJECTS IN PUNE
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the ‘Smart City Mission’ involving 83 projects from 20 different cities in the country.
ii. The Smart City Mission’ projects are related to water supply projects, sewage treatment plants, solid waste management under Swachh Bharat Mission.

3.   AIIB APPROVES FIRST LOANS FOR PROJECTS IN FOUR COUNTRIES
i. The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank has approved first set of loans totaling US 509 million dollars to finance projects in four countries namely- Bangladesh, Indonesia, Pakistan and Tajikistan.
ii. These loans for the four projects were approved in Board of Directors meeting of AIIB held at its headquarters in Beijing, China.

4. BHEL COMMISSIONS TWO HYDEL UNITS IN AFGHANISTAN
i. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd  has commissioned two units of 14 Megawatts each at Salma Hydro Electric Project in Afghanistan.
ii. The Salma dam, or the Afghan-India Friendship dam, was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the presence of Afghan President Ashraf Ghani.

5. SRI SRI RAVI SHANKAR AWARDED HONORARY FELLOWSHIP IN UK
i. National Indian Students and Alumni Union have awarded Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with an Honorary Fellowship in the UK.
ii. He is honoured for his contributions to world peace and culture.
iii. The organization is proud to honour Sri Sri Ravi Shankar for his important contribution to the world peace & working towards a violence-free society, for his social and cultural contributions to India.

6.  LIONEL MESSI ANNOUNCED RETIREMENT FROM INTERNATIONAL FOOTBALL
i. Lionel Messi has announced his retirement from international football after Argentina defeated against Chile in the final of the Copa America.
ii. The Barcelona superstar was under stress after missing a spot-kick against Chile in a penalty shoot-out

1.  BCCI TO HOST MINI IPL IN SEPTEMBER
i. The BCCI is set to introduce a new Twenty20 event, to be branded as mini IPL, outside India in September.
ii. According to BCCI president Anurag Thakur the BCCI is willing to host a mini IPL or IPL overseas with all the eight teams participating.

1. HARIKA WON BEST WOMEN'S PLAYER IN KAZAKHSTAN BLITZ
i. Grand Master Harika Dronavalli won the best women's player award in the Eurasian Blitz chess tournament in Kazakhstan.
ii. Harika had won the best woman's prize at the Zalakaros International Chess Festival in Hungary

2. NAGALAND GOVERNOR LAUNCHES WOMEN'S HELPLINE NUMBER '181'
i. Governor of Nagaland and Assam P B Acharya has launched women helpline number – 181.
ii. He also inaugurated Sakhi, a one stop Centre for the support women affected by violence both in private and public spaces under one roof.

3. UK PRIME MINISTER DAVID CAMERON ANNOUNCED RESIGNATION AFTER BREXIT VOTE
i. The Prime Minister of United Kingdom  David Cameron announced his resignation hours after the Brexit vote that favoured leaving the European Union .
ii. During the campaign he advocated for remaining with the EU.
iii. In the referendum 51.89 % of the voters preferred to leave the EU.

4. MAHASHANGARH DECLARED AS THE SARRC CULTURAL CAPITAL FOR 2016-17
i. Mahasthangarh, the 3rd century BC archaeological site in Bogra, Bangladesh, has been declared as the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation cultural capital for the year 2016-17.
ii. It  will host festivals on literature, foods ,films and dances from October 2016 to September 2017.
iii. The year 2016-17 has also be declared the SAARC Year of Cultural Heritage.

5.  INDIAN-ORIGIN LAWYER TO CHAIR PANEL ON HUMAN RIGHTS IN SOUTH SUDAN
i. Indian-origin lawyer Yasmin Sooka has been appointed to chairman of UN commission to monitor the human rights situation in South Sudan.
ii. The committee was formed by the United Nations Human Right Council 
iii. The other two members of the committee are Kenneth R. Scott  and Godfrey M. Musila .
iv. The committee has been formed to monitor human rights violations in South Sudan and make recommendations for the process of transitional justice, healing and reconciliation.

6. INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING HAS BEEN OBSERVED ON JUNE 26TH                                                 
i. The International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking is observed every year on June 26.
ii. The day is observed to raise awareness about the major problem of illicit drugs.
