1.       PM MODI INAUGURATES ‘PRADHANMANTRI SANGRAHALAYA’

     Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi inaugurated the PradhanmantriSangrahalaya, or Prime Ministers’ Museum, in New Delhi (Delhi), to honour the efforts of all 14 Indian Prime Ministers since independence, regardless of ideology or duration in office.

     It is constructed on the site of Teen Murti Estate, which served as the home of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, for 16 years until being converted into the Nehru Memorial Museum and Library (NMML) following his death.

 

2.       NATIONAL TIME RELEASE STUDY 2022

     VivekJohri, Chairman of Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has released The National Time Release Study (NTRS) 2022, which is a performance measurement tool for assessing the cargo clearance process of International Trade.

     The NTRS is implemented as a part of World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA) and the World Customs Organisation (WCO).

     The NTRS in order to access the cargo clearance process adopts cargo release time, i.e. the time taken from the arrival of the cargo at the customs station to its eventual release for imports and exports.

     The NTRS 2022 study has reported Sea cargo cleared via Seaports and Inland Container Depot (ICDs)- improved by 12 percent and Air Cargo Complexes (ACCs) improved significantly to 16 percent.

     While Integrated Check Posts (ICPs) by 2 percent.

 

3.       4TH INDIA-U.S. 2+2 MINISTERIAL DIALOGUE 2022

     Union Minister Rajnath Singh, Ministry of Defence (MoD), and Union Minister S Jaishankar, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) paid a visit to the United States (US) to attend the 4th India-US 2+2 ministerial dialogue 2022 on April 11 in Washington DC, US.

     India and the US have signed a troika of foundational pacts for deep military cooperation viz. Logistics Exchange Memorandum of Agreement (LEMOA) in 2016,Communications Compatibility and Security Agreement (COMCASA) in 2018,Basic Exchange and Cooperation Agreement (BECA) in 2020

     India and the US conduct regular bilateral and multilateral exercises, including the MALABAR exercise with inclusion of Australia, the tri-service TIGER TRIUMPH exercise, the multilateral MILAN naval exercise, the bilateral YUDH ABHYAS and VAJRA PRAHAR Army exercises, the bilateral COPE India air exercise, and Indian participation in RED FLAG.

 

4.       WORLD BANK LOWERS INDIA’S GDP FORECAST

     The World Bank in its report titled ‘Reshaping norms: A new way forward – South Asia Economy Focus-Spring 2022, which primarily focuses on South Asian economy, has downgraded India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) prediction for the financial year 2022–23 (FY23),

     Its growth forecast for India has been cut to 8% from 8.7% for FY23.

     India’s GDP growth for 2021-22 has been forecast at 8.3%. The projected growth rate for 2023-24 is 7.1%.

     The World Bank increased Sri Lanka’s growth prediction for 2022 from 2.1% to 2.4%, and raised Pakistan’s growth prediction for the current fiscal year, to 4.3% from 3.4%

 

5.       INTERNATIONAL GANDHI AWARD FOR LEPROSY 2021 

     The International Gandhi Award for Leprosy, 2021 is conferred to Dr.Bhushan Kumar of Chandigarh under the Indian nomination (individual) category and Sahyog KushthaYagna Trust, Gujarat, under the institutional category

     The Annual Award was instituted by Gandhi Memorial Leprosy Foundation.

     India has achieved a level of less than one case per thousand population in leprosy eradication.India accounts for 51% of the new cases detected globally (2020–2021).

     Sahyog Kushtha Yagna Trust means Grace of God. It was established in 1988 with 20 Leprosy Afflicted Persons and 06 Children.Founder and Trustee – Suresh Soni

 

6.       ISRAEL TEST FIRED LASER MISSILE DEFENCE SYSTEM “IRON BEAM”

     Israel has successfully test fired a first of its kind laser missile defence system called as “Iron Beam”,the world’s first energy-based weapons system.

     The Iron Beam is developed by the Rafael Advanced Defence Systems.

     Iron Beam works on a fibre laser system to destroy any airborne object.It ranges up to 7 km, which is often considered too close for the Iron Dome system to intercept projectiles effectively.

     The Iron Beam is the world’s first energy-based weapons system that uses a laser to shoot down incoming aerial objects such as missiles, rockets, mortars, anti-tank missiles, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) and drones.

7.       2022 THAILAND OPEN INTERNATIONAL BOXING TOURNAMENT

     Indian boxers bagged 10 medals at the 2022 Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament, which took place in Angsana Convention And Exhibition Space (ACES), Phuket, Thailand

     Indian Gold Medal Winners are Govind Sahani (men’s 48kg), Ananta Pralhad Chopde (men’s 54kg) and Sumit Kundu (men’s 75kg) were the three gold medal winners.

 

8.       LOGO OF MEN’S 2023 HOCKEY WORLD CUP

     The Chief Minister (CM) of Odisha, Naveen Pattnaik revealed the logo of 15th edition of International Hockey Federation (FIH) Senior Men’s Hockey World Cup 2023 at Kalinga Stadium.

     Odisha will organise the tournament both in Bhubaneswar and Rourkela.

 

36.    WORLD ART DAY – APRIL 15 2022

     World Art Day, an International Celebration of Art created by the International Association of Art (IAA/AIAP) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

     The city of Los Angeles has declared April 15, the birthday of Leonardo da Vinci, as World Art Day in Los Angeles.
