1. POLLUTION MANAGEMENT AND ENVIORNMENT HEALTH PROGRAM ESTABLISHED BY WORLD BANK:
.    World Bank has established pollution Management and Environment Health (PHEM) promgram which will focus on air quality management.
.    PHEM program will initially run from 2015 to 2020 with an estimated amount of 45 million US dollar.
.    The program will focus on air quality management in five major urban areas India, China, Egypt, Nigeria and South Africa.

2.   NEW YORK TIMES WON PULITZER PRIZES:
.    The New York Times has won two Pulitzer prizes for coverage of the Ebola outbreak in West Africa.
.    The New York Times staff won the Pulitzer Prize for International reporting.
.    Danial Berechulak, a freelancer won Pulitzer prize for the feature photography.

3. INTERNATIONAL MOTHER EARTH DAY OBSERVED ON 22ND APRIL:
.    International Mother Earth Day was observed on 22nd April around the world.
.    International Mother Earth Day 2015 was observed with the theme “It’s our turn to lead”.

4. JAPANESE TRAIN SET THE WORLD SPEED RECORD OF 603 KMPH:
.    Japanese Bullet train Maglev set a new world speed record of 603 kmph.
.    Maglev train broke its previous world record of 580 kmph up in the year 2003.

5. MAKE MY TRIP ACQUIRED MYGOLA:
.    Online travel Service provider Make My Trip has acquired startup travel guide Mygola.
.    Mygola was founded in 2009 by Anshuman Bapna and prateek Sharma.

6. XI JINPING HONOURED WITH NISHAN-E-PAKISTAN:
.    Chinese President Xi Jinping is honoured with Nishan-e-Pakistan Award.
.    Nishan-e-Pakistan award is the highest civilian award of Pakistan.
.    The award was presented by the president of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain.

7. 8.7 % INTEREST RATE FOR GPF IN 2015-16:
A. Union Finance Ministry has retained the rate of interest at 8.7 % for GPF for the year 2015-16.
.    The interest rate will apply on provident funds of central government employees, railways and defense forces.

1.      UN RELEASED GLOBAL E-WASTE MONITOR 2014 REPORT:
. United Nations has released a report titled, “global E-waste Monitor 2014”.
. UN’s think tank, United Nations University (UNU) has compiled the report.
. According to the report, volume of e-waste is estimated around 41.8 million metric tonnes and is expected to rise by 21% to 50 million metric tonnes by 2018.

2.   CHHURIM SHERPA TO CLIMB EVEREST AGAIN:
. Chhurim Sherpa is the first woman to climb the Everest twice a week.
. She is a nepali Mountaineer who had climbed the Everest twice in the same season i.e. on 12th may 2012 and 19th may 2012.
. Chhurim Sherpa has decided to climb 8850 mtrs Mount Everest by taking a cricket bat and two Jerseys of deceased Australian Cricketer Phil Hughes along with her in order to mark a tribute to the player.
Note: Phip Hughes was an Australian Cricketer who recently died while playing a Match.

3. ICICI BANK LAUNCHES ‘TAP-N-PAY’:
. ICICI Bank has launched an NFC-enabled payment service called ‘Tap-n-Pay’.
. Tap-n-Pay’ payment service is based on near-field communication (NFC) technology which will allow customers to make over the counter payments without using cash.
. ICICI Bank has launched this service in collaboration with Tech Mahindra.

1. BCCI APPOINTS NEW CHIEF ADVISER OF ANTI-CORRUPTION AND SECURITY UNIT:
.    BCCI has appointed Neeraj Kumar as new Chief Adviser of Anti-corruption and security unit (ACSU).
.    Neeraj Kumar is a 1976 batch IPS officer and was former Delhi police Commissioner.
.    Neeraj Kumar replaced Ravi Sawant to be the Chief Adviser of Anti-corruption and Security unit.

2.   NASIM ZAIDI APPOINTED AS CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER OF INDIA:
.    Election Commission of India has appointed Nasim Zaidi to be the Chief Election Commissioner of India.
.    Nasim Zaidi succeeded Hari Shankar Brahma.
.    Nasim Zaidi is a 1976 batch IAS officer and had served as the Director General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).

3. INDIAN RAILWAYS LAUNCHED E-SAMIKSHA:
.    Indian Railways has launched E-Samiksha to monitor rail projects online.
.    E-Samiksha an online monitoring mechanism is designed by National Informatics Centre (NIC).
.    E-Samiksha aims as monitoring implementation of various ongoing projects of Railways on real time basis.

1.    FIRST WOMAN BUS DRIVER OF DELHI TRANSPORT CORPORATION:
.   Vankadarath Saritha becomes the first woman bus driver of Delhi transport Corporation (DTC).
.   Vankadarath Saritha is a30 year old woman driver hails from Nalgonda district in Telangana.
. Vankadarath Saritha had experience of being a bus driver in Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh and prior to this she was working as a Taxi driver in Delhi.

2. ASHISH JAKHAR SETS NATIONAL YOUTH RECORD:
.   Haryana’s Ashish Jakhar sets National Youth Record in Boy’s Hammer throw.
.   Ashish Jakhar won gold medal in the 12th National Youth Athletics Championship held in Bambolin, Goa.
Ashish Jakhar’s throw of 72.04 meters broke the previous national record of 70.35 meters made by Haryana’s Sukhdev Singh.

3. VIVEK PRIYADARSHI APPOINTED AS HEAD OF THE TEAM PROBING IPL SCANDAL:
. Supreme Court of India has appointed Vivek Priyadarshi as the head of the team probing ILP Scandal.
.   Lodha Committee headed by former Chief Justice of India, RM Lodha recommended SP Vicek Priyadarshi’s name.
Note: Lodha committee is a 3 member panel which consists of former CJI RM Lodha, Justice TS Thakur and Justice FMI Khalifulla.

4.  MAHARASHTRA GOVERNMENT CONSISTED A TASK FORCE:
. Maharashtra Government has constituted a task force on farm development and poverty alleviation.
. 12 member task force will be headed by the additional Chief Secretary (agriculture).
. The decision of constituting a task force was made at the very first meeting of NITI Aayog.

5.  SHAHRUKH KHAN AND ZAYN MALIK HONURED AT ASIAN AWARDS:
. Shahrukh Khan and Zayn Malik are honoured at the 5th Asian Awards.
. 5th edition of the Asian Awards held in Grosvenor house hotel in London.
. Shahrukh Khan received the award by Indian-origin British filmmaker Gurinder Chadha for his prestigious outstanding contribution to Cinema.
. Zayn Malik is an English Singer and song writer and is awarded for his contribution in Music.

. World Hemophilia Day was observed with the theme, “Building a family of support”.
. World Hemophilia Day was established in 1989 with the support of the World federation of Hemophilia (WFH) on 17th April every year to hounour Frank Schnabel

2.   TIME MAGAZINE HAS RELEASED A LIST OF 100 MOST INFLUENCED PEOPLE IN THE WORLD:
. Time Magazine has released a list of 100 most influential people in the world.
. American Rapper and Singer Kanye Omari West topped the list.
. Malala yousafzai, a Pakistani Education activist is the youngest person on the list for third time in a row.
. Time Magazine list of 100 most influential people in the world includes 4 Indians, Narendra Modi, chanda Kochar, Satya Nadela and Vikram Patel.
