1. ‘VK MALHOTRA’ APPOINTED AS HEAD OF THE ALL INDIA COUNCIL OF SPORTS
i. Veteran sports administrator Vijay Kumar Malhotra is appointed as the President of the All India Council of Sports.
ii. Malhotra is the acting President of the Indian Olympic Association after the arrest of Suresh Kalmadi in connection with the alleged irregularities in awarding contracts for the 2010 Commonwealth Games.
iii. All India Council of Sports is constituted as an advisory body for the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

2. CENTRAL GOVERNMENT INCREASED IMPORT DUTY ON WHEAT TO 25%
i. Union Government  has  raised the  customs duty on wheat to 25 percent from 10 percent.
ii. The duty has been raised due to the fall in international prices of wheat and the anticipated adverse impact of increased imports during the first half of financial year 2015-16.
iii. The increase in custom duty will help to protect Indian farmers against cheaper imports.

3.’ JUSTIN TRUDEAU’ ELECTED AS THE PRIME MINISTER OF CANADA
i. Canada's Liberal Party leader Justin Trudeau was elected as the Prime Minister of Canada.
ii. Justin Trudeau at 43 years of age became the second youngest Prime Minister in Canadian history.
iii. Earlier youngest prime minister was Joe Clark,at the age of 40.

4. ‘URVASHI RAUTELA’ CROWNED MISS DIVA 2015
i. Urvashi Rautela was crowned as Yamaha Fascino Miss Diva 2015 in Mumbai.
ii. She became India’s representative for the Miss Universe pageant.
iii. Natasha Assadi was crowned 1st runner-up.
iv. Miss Diva competition chooses India's representatives for Miss Universe.

5. ‘APSEZ INKED MOU WITH IPGA’ TO HANDLE PULSES ACROSS ITS PORTS IN COUNTRY
i. Gujarat-based Adani Ports and Special Economic Zone and India Pulses and Grains Association signed a Memorandum of Understanding to handle pulses across its ports to ensure smooth and cost efficient availability of the commodity across the nation.

ii. The aim is to develop a dedicated and efficient supply chain for pulses, using Adani Ports’ facilities to all key consumption centers in the country. This will help ensure smooth and cost efficient availability of pulses.

1. NATO STARTED MILITARY EXERCISE ‘TRIDENT JUNCTURE’
i.  North Atlantic Treaty Organization and  its Partner nations started Trident Juncture military exercise in Italy.
ii. The exercise will involve 36000 troops from more than 30 nations.
iii. The Trident juncture is the largest NATO exercise from last 10 years.
iv. It will increase readiness and ability to work together. It will also demonstrate that NATO is capable of responding to threats from any direction.

2. 1ST TIME INDIA’S ‘FISCAL BALANCE TURNED SURPLUS’ IN AUGUST 2015
i. The Controller General of Accounts announced that India’s fiscal balance turned from deficit to surplus for the first time in 8 years.
ii. In August 2015, the Total expenditure was only 131214 crore rupees against the total revenue of 147022 crore rupees.
iii. Fiscal deficit is the difference between revenue and expenditure excluding borrowings.

3. ‘VIRENDER SEHWAG ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT’ FROM INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
i. Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag has announced his retirement from international cricket.
ii. Virender Sehwag in his remarkable career had scored 17,253 international runs across all formats and in ODI Career he had played 251 ODI matches and scored 8273 runs with batting average of 35.05.
iii. He also owns the fastest triple century in the history of international cricket reached 300 off only 278 balls against South Africa.

4. ‘VIVO TO SPONSER THE TITLE OF INDIAN PREMIER LEAGUE’
i.  Board for Cricket Control in India assigned title sponsorship of Indian Premier League to Brazilian mobile company Vivo.
ii. Vivo was assigned the sponsorship after PepsiCo broke the deal of sponsoring the title because of the spot-fixing scandal which shook the game in 2013.

5. ‘RBI AND UAE CENTRAL BANK’ SIGNED MOU FOR SUPERVISORY INFORMATION EXCHANGE
i. The Reserve Bank of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Central Bank of United Arab Emirates on Supervisory Cooperation and Exchange of Supervisory Information at Abu Dhabi.
ii. It was signed by Assistant Governor of Central Bank of UAE and Meena Hemchandra, Executive Director of RBI.
iii. The aim of the MOU is to promote greater co-operation and share supervisory information among the authorities.

4.  ‘XUERUI LI' GRABBED 2015 DENMARK OPEN TITLE OF BADMINTON
i. China’s Xuerui Li has grabbed Denmark Open Badminton Title in the women’s single category at Denmark.

1. ‘WORLD FOOD DAY’ OBSERVED ON 16 OCTOBER
i. World Food Day was observed on 16 October 2015.
ii.The theme of the day is Social Protection and Agriculture.
iii.The day is observed with an aim to raise public awareness about hunger challenges and encourage people worldwide to take action in the fight against hunger. 

2. ‘MALAYSIA’ TO INVEST 30 BILLION US DOLLARS IN INDIA
i. The Construction Industry Development Board of Malaysia proposed to invest 30 billion US dollars in urban development and housing projects in India.
ii. CIDB also proposed to take up a Green City Project at Garhmukhteshwar in Uttar Pradesh.

3. RBI FORMED ‘FINANCIAL INCLUSION FUND’
i. Reserve Bank of India has formed Financial Inclusion Fund with Rs. 2000 crore corpus for expanding availability of banking services.
ii. This fund will provide help for the developmental and promotional activities covered under the financial inclusion schemes.
iii. financial inclusion means is a drive for the delivery of financial services at affordable costs to low-income segments of society and availing financial services where   financial services are not available.

4. SUPREME COURT DECLARES ‘NJAC’ UNCONSTITUTIONAL
i. Supreme Court has declared National Judicial Appointments Commission Act, 2014 and 99th Constitutional Amendment Act, 2014 unconstitutional and void.
ii. Constitutional Bench of Supreme Court was headed by Justice J S Khehar .
iii. Supreme Court bench has announced  that Collegium system will remain operative which was established in 1993 for the appointment of judges to the higher judiciary.
iv. The petitions had challenged the new law on the selection and appointment of judges mentioning that it is unconstitutional and aimed at hurting the independence of judiciary.

v. Earlier, The parliament had unanimously passed the NJAC Act, 2014 and the 99th Constitutional Amendment Act to replace the twenty years old collegium system of judges appointing judges in higher judiciary.

1. ‘ZAHEER KHAN’ ANNOUNCED RETIREMENT FROM INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
i. Zaheer Khan one of India’s finest pacers announced retirement from all forms of international.
ii. He will continue to play in IPL for one more season.
iii. Zaheer khan is the fourth highest Indian wicket-taker in Tests matches and he is also the third highest wicket-taker in international cricket among left-arm pacers.

2. ‘INDIA AND ISRAEL’ SIGNED 10 MOUS TO ENHANCE BILATERAL COOPERATION
i. India and Israel signed 10 Memorandam of Understandings in various fields.
ii. The MoUs were signed during the visit of President Pranab Mukherjee's to Israel.
iii. He is the first President of India to visit Israel.

ii. It was renamed on the 84th Birth Anniversary of Dr Kalam, the Missile Man.

4. ‘KUNDHAVI KADIRESAN’ APPOINTED AS ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF FAO
i. Kundhavi Kadiresan was appointed as the Assistant Director  of United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization.

iii. Kundhavi Kadiresan  is an economist and she has spent most of her professional career with the World Bank Group in Asia, Africa, Eastern Europe
