1. THE 6TH NATIONAL SCIENCE FILM FESTIVAL STARTED IN MUMBAI
i. The 6th National Science Film Festival and Competition has been started at Nehru Science Center in Mumbai.
ii. The event was chaired by veteran director Shyam Benegal and science film maker Dr Mike Panday.
    
2.  R K VERMA IS APPOINTED AS NEW SECRETARY OF RAILWAY BOARD
i. Mr. R K Verma is appointed  as  new Secretary in Railway Board of India.
ii. He has worked with various railways, including Southern, North-East Frontier Eastern and Western comprising of Indian Railways Institute of Civil Engineering.

3. RBI SAID TO BANK SET ASIDE MORE FOR STRESSED LOANS
i. The Reserve Bank of India has directed commercial banks to accelerate provisioning requirement for the existing stock of restructured loans that are showing signs of stress.
ii. Banks have provided only 5 per cent for these restructured loans but now the central bank has directed them to increase the provisioning by 2.5 per cent every quarter so that by March 31, 2017 provisioning reached the 15 per cent level.
iii. The central bank has given direction to support the RBI’s drive to clean up banks’ balance sheets by March 2017.

4. SIACHEN AVALANCHE SURVIVOR LANCE NAIK HANAMANTHAPPA PASSED AWAY
i. . Lance Naik Hanamanthappa who had been battling for life at the Army’s Research & Referral hospital passed away he was 33 years old only.
ii. Hanamanthappa belonged to a farming family in Betadur village in Kundagol taluk of Dharwad district.
iii. He was trapped inside an air pocket under 35 feet of snow and he was buried alive in an avalanche on February 3.

5. RAILWAY MINISTRY LAUNCHES 3 IT ENABLED APPS
i. The Union Ministry of Railways has launched 3 IT enabled apps to bring transparency in Indian Railways and to promote Digital India initiative.
ii. The apps were launched by Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
iii.Three IT enabled apps are:
a.    Hand Held Terminals for TTEs will help in updating status of passenger list of the whole train.
b.   Paperless unreserved ticketing mobile application will be used for booking unreserved tickets on many suburban and some long distance routes.
c.    E-booking of disposable linen on trains will Allows passengers to avail bedroll kits through online booking and from IRCTC set up select outlets on the station.


6. YES BANK PARTNERED WITH SMARTBOX TO HELP REDUCE DELIVERY RETURNS FOR E-COMMERCE FIRMS
i. Yes Bank has tied up with Smartbox Ecommerce Solutions for solving problems  relating to  delivery of e-commerce firms.
ii.The bank will help  the payment solutions for Smartbox network of Automated Parcel Delivery Terminals.
iii. YES Bank partnership will help to reduce costs for e-commerce companies while offering additional convenience to online shoppers.
iv.YES Bank is India's fifth largest private sector bank.

1. CSO RELEASED ADVANCE ESTIMATES OF NATIONAL INCOME 2015-16
i. Central Statistics Office under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation released the Advance Estimates of National Income for the financial year 2015-16.
ii. Main highlights of Advance Estimates
a.    The growth in GDP during 2015-16 is estimated at 7.6 %
b.   The sectors which are likely to register growth rate of over 7.0 % are financial, real estate and professional services, trade, hotels, transport, communication and services related to broadcasting, and manufacturing.
c.    The per capita income in real terms during 2015-16 is likely to attain a level of 77431 rupees
d.   The consumer price index has shown a rise of 4.8 % during April-December, 2015-16
e.    GDP at current prices in the year 2015-16 is likely to attain a level of 135.67 lakh crore rupees
f.     The per capita net national income during 2015-16 is estimated to be 93231 rupees

2. MARINE MUSEUM INAUGRATED AT THE MARINE AQUARIUM AND REGIONAL CENTRE IN DIGHA
i. The Marine Museum was inaugurated at the Marine Aquarium and Regional Centre of Zoological Survey of India in Digha West Bengal.
ii. The newly constructed museum is open to the public contains Fish gallery, Coral gallery, and Molluscan gallery.
iii. It would help the students and public for the purpose of awareness on marine biodiversity conservations.
iv. Zoological Survey of India is a premier Indian organisation in zoological research and studies.
v. It was established on 1st July 1916 to promote the survey, exploration and research of the fauna in the region.

3. NATIONAL AROGYA FAIR 2016 CONCLUDED AT DEHRADUN
i. The 4 day National Arogya Fair held at Dehradun in Uttarakhand.
ii. The themes were based on Immune system, Homeopathy in Women's disorders, Treatment in Ayurveda, Yog se Arogya and Non-Communicable Diseases management in Siddha System etc
iii. It was organized by AYUSH the Union Ministry of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa Rigpa and Homoeopathy

4. WORLD’S LARGEST CONCENTRATED SOLAR PLANT OPENED IN MOROCCO
i. The Noor Ouarzazate Solar Complex world’s largest solar power plant was opened in the Souss-Massa-DrĂ¢a area in Morocco
ii.The plant holds the capacity to produce enough energy to power over one million homes by 2018.

5. INDIA RANKS 37TH ON USCC’S 2016 INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY INDEX
i. Intellectual Property Index is released  by United States Chamber of Commerce  India was ranked 37th among the surveyed 38 countries.
ii. These 38 countries benchmarked in the 2016 index accounts for nearly 85% of the global GDP.
iii. Venezuela ranked lowest below India at 38th position .
iv. Top place is grabbed by US followed by UK then Germany etc.

6. GOVERNMENT SANCTIONS RS.580 CRORE FOR AGARTALA-AKHAURA RAIL LINK PROJECT
i. Union Government has sanctioned 580 crore rupees for Agartala-Akhaura railway link Project to connect Kolkata with Tripura via Bangladesh.
ii. The sanctioned fund will be used for the laying of the five km railway track up to Bangladesh border from Agartala.
iii. It was started after Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s visit to India in January 2010 when both countries had agreed to lay the railway track.
iv. This project will play important role to improve connectivity and boost trade between the two countries.
v. It will also reduce the current 1700 km road distance between Kolkata to Agartala via narrow Chicken Neck Siliguri corridor to just 350 km by railway.

7. INDIA’S FIRST AVIATION PARK TO COME UP IN GUJARAT
i. Gujarat state government has decided to set up India’s first aviation park near Bagodara village in Ahmedabad district to strengthen the aviation sector.
ii. State government has given this task to Gujarat State Aviation Infrastructure Company Ltd .

iii. It is an integrated aviation park that aims to provide a single platform for manufacturing activities and human resources related to the aviation sector.
