1. FORBES RELEASED ASIA’S 50 POWER BUSINESSWOMEN 2016 LIST
i. Forbes magazine released Asia’s 50 Power Businesswomen 2016 list.
ii. The list includes name of eight Indian women business leaders.
iii. The is topped by Reliance Industries Director Nita Ambani followed by State Bank of India Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya in Forbes’ Asia 50 Power Businesswomen 2016 list.

2. GOVT. INAUGURATES 'NAMMA TOILET' IN DELHI UNDER SWACHH BHARAT MISSION
i. To promote the Swachh Bharat Mission Union Urban development Minister Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated 'Namma Toilet' in Delhi.
ii. It is started to achieve central government's target to establish over 2.5 lakh public toilets by 2nd October 2017.
iii. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is contributing in a major way to ensure hygiene and cleanliness to all in the country, public toilets are being built across the country.

3. UNION GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES B B TANDON COMMITTEE TO MONITOR GOVERNMENT ADVERTISEMENTS
i. The Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry has constituted a Committee to set guidelines for government advertisements.
ii. The committee will be headed by the former Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon.
iii. Senior TV journalist Rajat Sharma and ad-man Piyush Pandey will be the other two members of the committee.
iv. Supreme Court had barred publication of photos of leaders in government advertisements except those of the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India.
v. SC had also directed the Union Government to constitute a three-member committee to regulate the issue of public advertisements.

4. HP LAUNCHED WORLD'S THINNEST LAPTOP
i. American multinational information technology company HP Inc has launched world thinnest laptop.
 ii. The laptop is having 10.4 mm thickness.
iii. It is the world’s thinnest laptop and has a battery life of up to nine and a half hours.

5. SNAPDEAL LAUNCHES DONATION PROGRAM ‘SUNSHINE’
i. Snapdeal has partnered with 9 non governmental organisations  to start Snapdeal Sunshine, a programme.
ii. The programme is started where users can make donations to causes under education, health, sports, women empowerment, disaster relief and old age care.
iii. These organisations include Magic Bus, Teach For India and HelpAge India, Akshaya Patra, Care India, which will provide required products for ongoing projects.
iv. The products will be sent to the partner after the donation is accepted, and donors will be able to track the progress on Snapdeal.

6. FIFA RELEASED COCA-COLA WORLD RANKINGS 2016
i. Federation Internationale de Football Association released the April 2016 edition of the FIFA or Coca-Cola World Ranking.
ii. Argentina team ranked number one replacing the Belgium team to second position.
iii. India ranked at 162nd in FIFA rankings.

7. BOOK LAUNCHED BY ARVIND KEJRIWAL CO-AUTHORED BY IMRAN HASHMI
i. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched the book "The Kiss of Life: How a superhero and my son defeated cancer" in New Delhi.
ii. The book is written by Bilal Siddiqi and Emraan Hashmi.
iii. The book is about the story of Emraan’s life about his family’s horrific struggle as his 6 year-old son Ayaan battled his way through cancer.
v. The book is about hope to all cancer patients who loses hope, his or her body starts to give up.

1. NORTH EAST-ASEAN BUSINESS SUMMIT KICKS OFF IN IMPHAL
i. The first-ever North East-ASEAN Business Summit started in Imphal, Manipur.
ii. The main focus was to promote road connectivity, trade and tourism.
iii. The Summit aims at attracting investment from both domestic and foreign firms to the North-Eastern states to increase productivity and generate employment in the region.

2. IRANI UNVEILS BRONZE BUST OF ARYABHATTA AT UNESCO HEADQUARTERS
i. A bronze bust of ancient Indian mathematician and astronomer Aryabhatta has been unveiled at the UNESCO Headquarters.
ii. The bust is sculpted by renowned Indian sculptor Ram Sutar.
iii. Sutar was recently awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian awards in India, for his contribution to the world of art.

3. GUJRAT CM ANANDIBEN PATEL LAUNCHES 'MAA ANNAPURNA YOJNA'
i. Gujarat chief Minister Anandiben Patel launched the state level National Food Security Act renamed as Maa Annapurna Yojna by the state government.
ii. Under the Maa Annapurna Yojna people will get rice at Rs 3 per Kg and wheat at Rs 2 per Kg.
iii. only 11 states had implemented the National Food Security Act.

4. CP GURNANI APPOINTED AS NASSCOM CHAIRMAN
i. CP Gurnan is appointed as the new Chairman of the National Association of Software and Services Companies for 2016-17.
ii. He would focus on programmes aimed at making India a digital.
iii. The National Association of Software and Services Companies is a trade association of Indian Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing industry.
iv. It was Established in 1988 as a non-profit organization.

5. SIGURDUR INGI JOHANNSSON NAMED AS NEW PM OF ICELAND
i. Sigurdur Ingi Johannsson has been named  as the new Prime Minister.
ii. He will replace  Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson former  Pm of Iceland.
iii.  Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson had stepped down as PM in the wake of the leaked Panama Papers.

6. MAHARAJA RANJIT SINGH'S STATUE TO BE INSTALLED IN FRANCE
i. A statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh will be installed in France's Saint-Tropez town on 2016.
ii. The town is the birth place of Maharaja’s Army General Jean-Francois Allard.
iii. The Indian embassy in France will also hold an exhibition on the life of the king.

iv. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire in  19th century.

1. WORLD HEALTH DAY OBSERVED ON 7TH APRIL
i. World Health Day is observed on 7TH April across the world.
ii. The day is observed to promote knowledge and awareness about human health.
iii. The theme of the day is “Beat Diabetes”

2. INDIA WINS 2016 ASIAN NATIONS CUP CHESS TOURNAMENT
i. Indian men have won the 2016 Asian Nations Cup Chess tournament by defeating Vietnam by 3-1 in Abu Dhabi.
ii. Indian men won it for the 3rd time earlier they had won it in Iran (2005) and in Kolkata (2009)
iii. In the women’s category it was won by China.

3. FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR FIRST HORTICULTURE UNIVERSITY IN HARYANA
i. Union Agriculture and farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh laid the foundation stone of Haryana State University of Horticultural Sciences at Karnal in Haryana.
ii. The horticultural university will help to support the gap between teaching, research and extension activities in the state.
iii. The university will also act as a skill development centre to manage the larger demand for trained manpower in the production, post harvest and processing industries.

4. UNION CABINET GAVE EX-FACTO APPROVAL FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF ONE RANK ONE PENSION
i. The Union Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its ex-post facto approval for implementation of One Rank One Pension.
ii. It will increase the pension for the pensioners/family pensioners of Defence Forces.
iii. The benefit will be given with effect from 1 July 2014.

5. MADHUKAR GUPTA COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED TO SUGGEST WAYS TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY ALONG INDO-PAK BORDER
i. The Union Government constituted a high-level committee to suggest ways to strengthen the border protection along the border with Pakistan.
ii. It will also address the issue of gaps and vulnerability in border fencing along Indo-Pakistan border.

6. MEMORIAL FOR ABDUL KALAM TO BE OPENED AT DILLI HAAT
i. Delhi government is going to build a memorial for late President APJ Abdul Kalam at Dilli Haat in south Delhi.
ii. This memorial will include the notes, books, clothes and other personal items of the former president.
iii. It will be opened to the public on July 27  on the  death anniversary of A.P.J  Abdul kalam.
iii. . Bharat Ratna Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, generally known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
iv. He  was the 11th President of India.

7. AADHAAR ENROLLMENTS CROSSED THE MARK OF 100 CR.
i. Over 100 crore people now have an Aadhaar number.
ii. According to Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad it will give boost to government’s initiative of bringing a systematic change in the way services.
iii. Through the aadhaar card government is giving direct subsidies and benefits to the public.
iii. The Unique Identification Authority of India  had generated 100 crore Aadhaar numbers in five-and half years since the first Aadhaar was issued in 2010.

8. WORLD’S FIRST PUBLIC DENGUE VACCINATION PROGRAMME LAUNCHED IN PHILIPPINES
i. The world’s first public dengue vaccination programme was launched in the Philippines.
ii. The vaccine is named as  Dengvaxia.
iii Philippines had the highest dengue incidence from 2013 to 2015 .
iv. Dengvaxia is developed by the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi .

1. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF SPORT FOR DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE 2016 OBSERVED
i. The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace 2016 was observed on 6 April 2016.
ii. A campaigning is launched named let’s play for Sustainable Development Goals.
iii. International Day of Sport for Development and Peace observed on  April 6 to mark the opening of the first modern Olympic Games in Athens in 1896.

2. UNION MINISTRY OF SKILL DEVELOPMENT AND ENTREPRENEURSHIP LAUNCHED TRANSNATIONAL SKILL STANDARDS
i. The Union Minister of State for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Pratap Rudy 2016 launched Transnational Skill Standards in New Delhi.
ii. The Memorandums of Understanding were signed between National Skill Development Council and Association of Colleges of Uk to increase employer engagement and investment in skills in India.
iii. The main aim is to support Make in India and Skill India initiatives.
iv. The training will be provided in several economic activities including agriculture, life science, healthcare, capital goods, textiles, hospitality, information technology, etc.
v. The Transnational Skill Standards will support international mobility of Indian workforce.

3. PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI LAUNCHED STAND UP INDIA SCHEME
i. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi started Stand Up India Scheme to promote entrepreneurship among Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes and Women entrepreneurs.
ii. Pm also inaugurated a Kaushal Kendra known as Skilling Center under Pradhan Mantri Mudra Yojna in Noida.
iii. The Scheme will facilitate at least two projects per bank branch for each category of entrepreneur.
iv. It will provider refinance through Small Industries Development Bank of India with an initial amount of 10000 crore rupees.

4. VISHWANATHAN ANAND TO BE HONOURED WITH HRIDAYNATH MANGESHKAR AWARD
i. Five time world chess champion Vishwanathan Anand will be honoured with the Hridaynath Mangeshkar Award.
ii. Vishwanathan Anand is an Indian chess grandmaster and a former world champion.
iii. Hridaynath Mangeshkar Award started  in 2011 by Mumbai in the honour of music composer and singer Hridaynath Mangeskar.

5. BIHAR GOVERNMENT IMPOSES COMPLETE BAN ON ALCOHOL
i. Bihar Government has imposed completely ban on all types of liquor in the state.
ii. Earlier state government had partially banned country made liquor in the state
iii. Person found indulging in manufacturing trade, transportation, sale and consumption of liquor across the state will be punished under the stringent provisions of the Bihar Excise Act, 2016.

6. DCB BANK LAUNCHES INDIA’S FIRST AADHAAR-BASED ATM
i. DCB Bank has launched an India’s first  Aadhaar-based Automatic Teller Machine usage facility.
ii. This ATM has been placed at Peninsula Business Park in Mumbai.
iii. DCB customers can transact using his biometric details instead of the PIN.
iv. It is a cardless and PIN less ATM.

7. RBI CUTS REPO RATE BY 25 BASIS POINTS TO 6.5%
i. The Reserve Bank of India has cut down repo rate by 25 basis points to 6.5 per cent from 6.75 per cent.
ii. It was announced in the first bi-monthly monetary policy of the RBI for the 2016-17 fiscal.
iii. It is the rate at which RBI lends to the banks.
iv. RBI has unchanged CRR and kept it at 4.0 per cent. of
v. RBI has adjusted reverse repo rate under the LAF to 6 per cent.
vi. Reverse repo rate is the rate at which banks can keep excess funds with the RBI.

1. INDIA RANKED 6TH IN TOP 10 LARGEST MANUFACTURERS LIST
i. According to a United Nations Industrial Development Organisation report India ranked sixth among the world's top 10 manufacturing countries.
ii.The top place is grabbed by China as the world's top manufacturing country.
iii.Top 5 countries are Chuina,U.S., Japan, Germany and Korea.

2. PIYUSH GOYAL LAUNCHED A NEW APP NAMED "VIDYUT PRAVAH"
i. The minister of state for Power, coal, new and renewable energy Mr. Piyush Goyal launched a new mobile application 'Vidyut Pravah'.
ii.The app is launched to empower Common People to have 24x7 Power from the States.
iii. The Application will provides information regarding the current demand met, shortages if any, surplus power available and the prices in the Power Exchange.

3. IIT MADRAS AND IIM BANGALORE TOP THE LIST OF BEST INDIAN UNIVERSITIES
i. IIT Madras and IIM Bangalore have topped in the list of top educational institutes released by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development.
ii. The HRD ministry released thr National Institutional Ranking Framework.
iii. The Indian Institute of Science Bangalore is the best university in India.
v. Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences is the top pharmacy institute in the country.

4. GERMANY TO GIVE 3750 CR LOAN TO NAGPUR METRO
i. Germany's Development Bank will give a loan assistance of 3,750 crore for metro system in Nagpur city.
ii. The fund will be provided for a period of 20 years
iii. Nagpur metro project becomes first metro to be financed under the Indo-German partnership for clean, socially inclusive and climate friendly mobility for people in cities.

5. INDIA’S FASTEST TRAIN GATIMAAN EXPRESS FLAGGED OFF
i. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off India's fastest train the Gatimaan Express from Delhi's Hazrat Nizamuddin station.
ii.The train completed its first journey from Delhi to Agra in 100 minutes as compared to about 2-3 hours that other trains take to cover the distance.
iii.The Gatimaan Express provides free Wi-fi to its passengers.

6. VEDANTA SETS GUINNESS WORLD RECORD FOR MASS PLANTATION
i.Vedanta minning company  in Talwandi Sabo Power  has set the Guinness World Record for planting 2,08,751 saplings n less than an hour.
ii. The mass plantation drive was organised in Mansa, Punjab on October 30, 2015.
iii.Earlier the company also undertakes high impact initiatives to ensure the health and safety of the workers and makes valuable contributions to communities  across the country.

1. NIFTY LAUNCHES NEW INDEX FOR MID AND SMALL CAP STOCKS
i. The National Stock Exchange has launched a new index Nifty MidSmallcap 400.
ii. It will represent the mid and small market capitalization segments of the stock market.
iii. The new index will include 400 companies which are the constituents of Nifty Midcap 150 and Nifty Smallcap 250 indices.

2. MEHBOOBA MUFTI TO BE SWORN IN AS FIRST WOMAN CM OF JAMMU & KASHMIR ON APRIL 4
i.PDP President Mehbooba Mufti wil sworn in as the first woman Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on April 4.
ii. After the death of her father who headed PDP-BJP coalition government Mehbooba had been reluctant to take over as CM of the PDP-BJP coalition government.

3. BANKS ADOPTED NEW RATE FORMULA FOR LENDING
i. A large number of banks, including ICICI, Bank of India, IDBI today joined their peers like HDFC Bank,SBI and Axis Bank to make a shift to lending rates based on marginal cost of funds .
ii. Consumer loans became cheaper with new banking formula.
iii.It will have a new way of setting lending rates following RBI’s diktat to ensure faster and effective transmission of its policy rate cuts to borrowers.
iv. RBI had asked banks to price fixed rate loans of up to three years based on marginal cost of funds from April 1.
v.The lending rate based on marginal cost of funds is lower than base rate.

4. JAPAN TO LEND RS.14, 000 CRORE FOR INDIAN PROJECTS
i. The Government of Japan has committed a loan of 242.2 billion for various projects across Indian states.
ii.The funf will be used for integrated sanitation improvement project, a road network connectivity improvement project and micro drip irrigation projects.

5. MUMBAI TO GET INTERNATIONAL ARBITRATION CENTRE BY AUGUST
i. Mumbai Financial capital of India will get the International Arbitration Centre.
ii. This will be the India’s first arbitration centre for dealing the financial disputes.
iii. The financial disputes of India presently dealt in the Singapore Arbitration centre.

6. RAJIV GAUBA TAKES OVER AS SECRETARY OF URBAN DEVELOPMENT MINISTRY
i. Rajiv Gauba took over as Secretary to the Government of India in the Ministry of Urban Development.
ii. He also served in the International Monetary Fund representing the Country for four years on the Board of IMF.
