1. RBI GIVES APPROVAL TO BHARTI AIRTEL’S PAYMENTS BANK UNIT
i. The Reserve Bank of India has given its in-principle approval to Bharti Airtel’s payments bank venture Airtel M Commerce Services Ltd.
ii. It become the first entity to receive final approval from the RBI to start a payments bank.
iii. The Payments Banks are not allowed to lend.
iv. Last year RBI had granted in-principle licences to 11 entities to start payments banks.
v. The ‘in-principle’ approval means temporary approval for 18 months.

 2. UNION GOVERNMENT APPOINTS MEERAN BORWANKAR AS DG OF BPR&D
i. Union Government has appointed Ms. Meeran C. Borwankar as the Director General in the Bureau of Police Research & Development.
ii. Bureau of Police Research and Development was established in 1970.
iii. The objective of the BPR&D is modernisation of police forces.

3. INDIA OFFERS TO INVEST $20 BILLION IN IRAN
i. India has offered to invest upto $20 billion in Iran.
ii. It was announced by Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas minister Dharmendra Pradhan during his two day visit to Iran.
ii. It is the first visit by an Indian minister since the US and other western powers lifted sanctions against Iran.

4. ‘GREEN UP & CLEAN UP’ PROGRAMME TO BE PLANTED IN UP
i. The Uttar Pradesh government is going to start  plantation of 5 crore trees in 24 hours in the  month of July under the ‘Green UP - Clean UP’ programme.
ii. All online data of plantation sites should be prepared with the cooperation of National Informatics Centre to ensure effective district-wise monitoring.

5.  SACHIN BECOMES THE BRAND AMBASSADOR OF SKILL INDIA
i. The ministry for skill development and entrepreneurship has appointed Sachin Tendulkar as brand ambassador of the 'Skill India' campaign.
ii. The Skill India campaign is an opportunity for the nation to make full use of its young population.
iii. The ‘Skill India’ campaign was launched by PM Narendra Modi to train about 40 crore people in India in different skills.

6. ANTHONY JOSHUA WON INTERNATIONAL BOXING FEDERATION TITLE
i. Anthony Joshua has grabbed the International Boxing Federation heavyweight title for the year 2016.
ii. He defeated Charles Martin in the second round at the O2 Arena in London.
iii. Earlier in  2012 Olympic he won gold and  grabbed his first world title in only his 16th professional fight by flattening American Martin to lift the International Boxing Federation.

7. WORLD HOMOEOPATHY DAY OBSERVED ON 10TH APRIL
i. World Homoeopathy Day was observed on 10 April.
ii. The day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Samuel Hahnemann, a German Physician.
iii. Hahnemann discovered the principles of Homeopathy two centuries ago and developed it as a gentle healing system of medicine.

iv. The theme of the day is “Integrating Homoeopathy in Health Care”.

1. PRIYADARSHINI CHATTERJEE CROWNED FBB MISS INDIA WORLD 2016
i. Delhi’s Priyadarshini Chatterjee was announced the winner of the FBB Femina Miss India World 2016 at the Femina Miss India beauty pageant in Mumbai.
ii. She was crowned the title by Aditi Arya former Femina Miss India 2015.
iii. She will now represent India at the Miss World 2016 pageant.
iv. The winners were chosen by a panel of judges that included Sanjay Dutt and Sania Mirza among others.

2. PRIYANKA CHOPRA TO BE HONOURED WITH DADASAHEB PHALKE FILM FOUNDATION AWARD 2016
i. Priyanka Chopra to be honoured with Dadasaheb Phalke Film Foundation Award for 2016 in best actress of the year category.
ii. She bagged the award for her performance in the bollywood movie Bajirao Mastani.
iii. She will be honoured with the best actress award on the 147th birth Anniversary of Dadasaheb Phalke.
iv. Priyanka Chopra has also been awarded with Padma Shri in 2016.  

3. MOTHER TERESA HONOURED WITH FOUNDERS AWARD POSTHUMOUSLY IN UK
i. The Nobel Peace Prize awardee Mother Teresa now has been honoured with the UK's prestigious Founders Award this year.
ii. The award is given to recognize and reward exemplary achievements of people within the global Asian community.
iii. The award is given to recognize and reward exemplary achievement within the global Asian community in categories that include business, philanthropy, entertainment, culture and sport.
4. HARYANA GOVERNMENT APPOINTED TWO MEMBER INQUIRY PANEL TO PROBE INTO JAT QUOTA STIR
i. Haryana government constituted a two member Commission of Inquiry  headed by former Jammu and Kashmir High Court Chief Justice S N Jha.
ii. The commission is formed to probe conspiracy behind violent incidents during Jat agitation in February 2016.
iii. The commission has to submit its report within six months.
iv. The commission will inquire into facts relating to violence leading to loss of lives, damage to properties during the agitation in Haryana.

5. FIRE ACCIDENT AT PUTTINGAL TEMPLE IN KERALA 110 PEOPLE DIED
i. At least 110 people were charred to death in a fire accident at Puttingal Devi temple during a festival at Paravur in Kollam district of Kerala.
ii. Nearly 380 persons got injured were admitted to various hospitals.
iii. The tragedy occurred around 3.30 am during display of fireworks at the temple complex.

6. KHADIJA ISMAYILOVA TO RECEIVE UNESCO/GUILLERMO CANO WORLD PRESS FREEDOM PRIZE 2016
i. Investigative journalist Khadija Ismayilova of Azerbaijan was chosen for the UNESCO or Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize 2016.
ii. The Prize will be awarded during the celebration of World Press Freedom Day on 3 May 2016 in Finland.

iii. UNESCO /Guillermo Cano World Press Freedom Prize was started to honour a person, organization or institution that has made an outstanding contribution to the defence and  promotion of press freedom anywhere in the world.

1. INDIA TOPED IN CREDIT SUISSE EMERGING CONSUMERS SCORECARD 2016
i. Indian consumers remain most optimistic about their current and future finances and relatively lower inflation expectations.
 ii. The report is released in Credit Suisse Emerging Consumer Scorecard 2016.
iii. India topped in the scoreboard followed by China and Saudi Arabia.
iv. The survey covered nine countries - Brazil, Russia, Saudi Arabia, China, India, Indonesia, Mexico South Africa and Turkey.

2. CENTRE GOVERNMENT RELEASED RS.12, 230 CRORE TO STATES FOR MGNREGA
i. The Ministry of Rural Development has released a share of Rs. 12,230 crore to the states.
ii. The fund will be used for implementation of projects under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act.
ii. The will also be used to release pending wage liability of the States for the previous Financial Year 2015-16.

3. UNION HRD MINISTER LAUNCHED ISBN PORTAL
i. The Union Human Resource Development Minster Smriti Irani has launched a portal for registration and allotment of International Standard Book Number at a function held in New Delhi.
ii. The portal has been created to enable publishers as well as the authors to register for ISBN online.
iii. ISBN gives an identity to a book and will enhance information abot authors and publishers.
iv. The ministry will also launched the mobile app to reach out to more publishers and authors across the country.

4. TEXTILES MINISTER INAUGURATES APPAREL AND GARMENT MAKING UNIT IN TRIPURA
i. The Union Textiles Minister Shri Santosh Kumar Gangwar inaugurated the Apparel and Garment Making unit in Bodhjungnagar  in Agartala .
ii. The Apparel Units in the North East are a significant step towards the Make in India Initiative of the Government.

5. UMA BHARTI INAUGURATES WATER FILMS FESTIVAL
i. The Union Minister for water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti has inaugurated the Water Film Festival in New Delhi.
ii. xThe water film festival is launched  as a part of the India Water Week celebrations
iii. The film festival is organized by the Water and Power Consultancy Services.
v. The theme of the India Water week is “Water for all: Striving together.

7. AIRTEL BUYS AIRCEL’S 4G SPECTRUM FOR RS 3,500 CRORE
i. Bharti Airtel  acquired 20 MHz spectrum in eight circles from Aircel for Rs 3,500 crore.
ii. Aircel had won the spectrum in a government auction upto September 20, 2030.

1. FORBES RELEASED ASIA’S 50 POWER BUSINESSWOMEN 2016 LIST
i. Forbes magazine released Asia’s 50 Power Businesswomen 2016 list.
ii. The list includes name of eight Indian women business leaders.
iii. The is topped by Reliance Industries Director Nita Ambani followed by State Bank of India Chairman Arundhati Bhattacharya in Forbes’ Asia 50 Power Businesswomen 2016 list.

2. GOVT. INAUGURATES 'NAMMA TOILET' IN DELHI UNDER SWACHH BHARAT MISSION
i. To promote the Swachh Bharat Mission Union Urban development Minister Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated 'Namma Toilet' in Delhi.
ii. It is started to achieve central government's target to establish over 2.5 lakh public toilets by 2nd October 2017.
iii. Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is contributing in a major way to ensure hygiene and cleanliness to all in the country, public toilets are being built across the country.

3. UNION GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES B B TANDON COMMITTEE TO MONITOR GOVERNMENT ADVERTISEMENTS
i. The Union Information and Broadcasting Ministry has constituted a Committee to set guidelines for government advertisements.
ii. The committee will be headed by the former Chief Election Commissioner B B Tandon.
iii. Senior TV journalist Rajat Sharma and ad-man Piyush Pandey will be the other two members of the committee.
iv. Supreme Court had barred publication of photos of leaders in government advertisements except those of the President, Prime Minister and the Chief Justice of India.
v. SC had also directed the Union Government to constitute a three-member committee to regulate the issue of public advertisements.

4. HP LAUNCHED WORLD'S THINNEST LAPTOP
i. American multinational information technology company HP Inc has launched world thinnest laptop.
 ii. The laptop is having 10.4 mm thickness.
iii. It is the world’s thinnest laptop and has a battery life of up to nine and a half hours.

5. SNAPDEAL LAUNCHES DONATION PROGRAM ‘SUNSHINE’
i. Snapdeal has partnered with 9 non governmental organisations  to start Snapdeal Sunshine, a programme.
ii. The programme is started where users can make donations to causes under education, health, sports, women empowerment, disaster relief and old age care.
iii. These organisations include Magic Bus, Teach For India and HelpAge India, Akshaya Patra, Care India, which will provide required products for ongoing projects.
iv. The products will be sent to the partner after the donation is accepted, and donors will be able to track the progress on Snapdeal.

6. FIFA RELEASED COCA-COLA WORLD RANKINGS 2016
i. Federation Internationale de Football Association released the April 2016 edition of the FIFA or Coca-Cola World Ranking.
ii. Argentina team ranked number one replacing the Belgium team to second position.
iii. India ranked at 162nd in FIFA rankings.

7. BOOK LAUNCHED BY ARVIND KEJRIWAL CO-AUTHORED BY IMRAN HASHMI
i. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched the book "The Kiss of Life: How a superhero and my son defeated cancer" in New Delhi.
ii. The book is written by Bilal Siddiqi and Emraan Hashmi.
iii. The book is about the story of Emraan’s life about his family’s horrific struggle as his 6 year-old son Ayaan battled his way through cancer.
v. The book is about hope to all cancer patients who loses hope, his or her body starts to give up.

1. NORTH EAST-ASEAN BUSINESS SUMMIT KICKS OFF IN IMPHAL
i. The first-ever North East-ASEAN Business Summit started in Imphal, Manipur.
ii. The main focus was to promote road connectivity, trade and tourism.
iii. The Summit aims at attracting investment from both domestic and foreign firms to the North-Eastern states to increase productivity and generate employment in the region.

2. IRANI UNVEILS BRONZE BUST OF ARYABHATTA AT UNESCO HEADQUARTERS
i. A bronze bust of ancient Indian mathematician and astronomer Aryabhatta has been unveiled at the UNESCO Headquarters.
ii. The bust is sculpted by renowned Indian sculptor Ram Sutar.
iii. Sutar was recently awarded the Padma Bhushan, one of the highest civilian awards in India, for his contribution to the world of art.

3. GUJRAT CM ANANDIBEN PATEL LAUNCHES 'MAA ANNAPURNA YOJNA'
i. Gujarat chief Minister Anandiben Patel launched the state level National Food Security Act renamed as Maa Annapurna Yojna by the state government.
ii. Under the Maa Annapurna Yojna people will get rice at Rs 3 per Kg and wheat at Rs 2 per Kg.
iii. only 11 states had implemented the National Food Security Act.

4. CP GURNANI APPOINTED AS NASSCOM CHAIRMAN
i. CP Gurnan is appointed as the new Chairman of the National Association of Software and Services Companies for 2016-17.
ii. He would focus on programmes aimed at making India a digital.
iii. The National Association of Software and Services Companies is a trade association of Indian Information Technology and Business Process Outsourcing industry.
iv. It was Established in 1988 as a non-profit organization.

5. SIGURDUR INGI JOHANNSSON NAMED AS NEW PM OF ICELAND
i. Sigurdur Ingi Johannsson has been named  as the new Prime Minister.
ii. He will replace  Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson former  Pm of Iceland.
iii.  Sigmundur Gunnlaugsson had stepped down as PM in the wake of the leaked Panama Papers.

6. MAHARAJA RANJIT SINGH'S STATUE TO BE INSTALLED IN FRANCE
i. A statue of Maharaja Ranjit Singh will be installed in France's Saint-Tropez town on 2016.
ii. The town is the birth place of Maharaja’s Army General Jean-Francois Allard.
iii. The Indian embassy in France will also hold an exhibition on the life of the king.

iv. Maharaja Ranjit Singh was the founder of the Sikh Empire in  19th century.

1. WORLD HEALTH DAY OBSERVED ON 7TH APRIL
i. World Health Day is observed on 7TH April across the world.
ii. The day is observed to promote knowledge and awareness about human health.
iii. The theme of the day is “Beat Diabetes”

2. INDIA WINS 2016 ASIAN NATIONS CUP CHESS TOURNAMENT
i. Indian men have won the 2016 Asian Nations Cup Chess tournament by defeating Vietnam by 3-1 in Abu Dhabi.
ii. Indian men won it for the 3rd time earlier they had won it in Iran (2005) and in Kolkata (2009)
iii. In the women’s category it was won by China.

3. FOUNDATION STONE LAID FOR FIRST HORTICULTURE UNIVERSITY IN HARYANA
i. Union Agriculture and farmers Welfare Minister Radha Mohan Singh laid the foundation stone of Haryana State University of Horticultural Sciences at Karnal in Haryana.
ii. The horticultural university will help to support the gap between teaching, research and extension activities in the state.
iii. The university will also act as a skill development centre to manage the larger demand for trained manpower in the production, post harvest and processing industries.

4. UNION CABINET GAVE EX-FACTO APPROVAL FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF ONE RANK ONE PENSION
i. The Union Cabinet headed by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi gave its ex-post facto approval for implementation of One Rank One Pension.
ii. It will increase the pension for the pensioners/family pensioners of Defence Forces.
iii. The benefit will be given with effect from 1 July 2014.

5. MADHUKAR GUPTA COMMITTEE CONSTITUTED TO SUGGEST WAYS TO STRENGTHEN SECURITY ALONG INDO-PAK BORDER
i. The Union Government constituted a high-level committee to suggest ways to strengthen the border protection along the border with Pakistan.
ii. It will also address the issue of gaps and vulnerability in border fencing along Indo-Pakistan border.

6. MEMORIAL FOR ABDUL KALAM TO BE OPENED AT DILLI HAAT
i. Delhi government is going to build a memorial for late President APJ Abdul Kalam at Dilli Haat in south Delhi.
ii. This memorial will include the notes, books, clothes and other personal items of the former president.
iii. It will be opened to the public on July 27  on the  death anniversary of A.P.J  Abdul kalam.
iii. . Bharat Ratna Avul Pakir Jainulabdeen Abdul Kalam, generally known as Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam.
iv. He  was the 11th President of India.

7. AADHAAR ENROLLMENTS CROSSED THE MARK OF 100 CR.
i. Over 100 crore people now have an Aadhaar number.
ii. According to Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad it will give boost to government’s initiative of bringing a systematic change in the way services.
iii. Through the aadhaar card government is giving direct subsidies and benefits to the public.
iii. The Unique Identification Authority of India  had generated 100 crore Aadhaar numbers in five-and half years since the first Aadhaar was issued in 2010.

8. WORLD’S FIRST PUBLIC DENGUE VACCINATION PROGRAMME LAUNCHED IN PHILIPPINES
i. The world’s first public dengue vaccination programme was launched in the Philippines.
ii. The vaccine is named as  Dengvaxia.
iii Philippines had the highest dengue incidence from 2013 to 2015 .
iv. Dengvaxia is developed by the French pharmaceutical company Sanofi .
