1. US NAVY TESTED WORLD'S LARGEST UNMANNED SURFACE VESSEL, SEA HUNTER
i. United States of America tested the world's largest unmanned surface vessel named Sea Hunter.
ii. It is designed to travel thousands of miles out at sea without a single crew member on board.
iii. The ship is powered by two diesel engines and can reach speeds of 27 knots per hour.

2. MARK SELBY WON WORLD SNOOKER CHAMPIONSHIP
i. England's world number one Mark Selby grabbed World Championship title of Snooker.
ii. He defeated China’s Ding Junhui by 18-14.
ii. Now he became the first Asian player to win the world title.

3. BHUPENDRA KAINTHOLA TAKES CHARGE AS FTII DIRECTOR
i. Indian Information Service  officer Bhupendra Kainthola took charge as Director of Film and Television Institute of India .
ii. He has replaced Prashant Pathrabe.
iii. Film and Television Institute of India is first institute in the country that provides training for acting, film making, video editing, direction and production.
iv. It is an autonomous body under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

4. SC SETS UP RM LODHA PANEL TO OVERSEE FUNCTIONS OF MEDICAL COUNCIL OF INDIA
i. The Supreme Court has formed a committee headed by former Chief Justice of India RM Lodha to oversee the functions of the Medical Council of India .
ii. The main work of the committee is to oversee all statutory functions under the Medical Council of India, Act.
iii. The MCI is the statutory regulator of medical profession and education in India.
iv. SC stated that MCI had repeatedly failed in its duties and the quality of medical education in the country was at its lowest ebb.
v. MCI has been accused of indulging in corrupt practices.

5. INDIA’S GDP TO GROW AT 7.5% FOR 2016-17
i. International Monetary Fund projected India’s growth rate at 7.5 percent for the year 2016.
ii. The IMF stated India’s growth rate in its report titled Regional Economic Outlook: Asia and Pacific, Building on Asia’s Strengths.
iii. It stated that GDP growth rate of India will be 7.5 percent growth in 2016 and 2017.

6. INDIA’S FIRST SCORPENE CLASS SUBMARINE INS KALVARI UNDERGOES FIRST SEA TRIAL
i. INS Kalvari, Indian Navy’s first indigenous Scorpene-class stealth submarine, has been recently launched  in the Mumbai naval dockyard.
ii. It is a diesel-electric attack submarine which is built under the strategic Project collaboration with French naval defence and energy company DCNS.
iii. INS Kalvari is also known as Tiger Shark .

iv. It can undertake various operations including multifarious warfare, Anti-submarine warfare, Intelligence gathering, mine laying, area surveillance etc.

1. PRESIDENT PRANAB MUKHERJEE PRESENTS 63RD NATIONAL FILM AWARDS 2015
i. President Pranab Mukherjee has conferred 63rd National Film Awards in New Delhi.
ii. Legendry actor Manoj Kumar was conferred with Dada Saheb Phalke Award, highest official recognition in Indian cinema.
Some other awardes:
a.       Baahubali was bestowed with the Best feature film award.
b.      Bajrangi Bhaijaan directed by Kabir Khan was awarded as the Best Popular film providing wholesome entertainment.
c.       Best Actor award to Amitabh Bachchan for movie Piku.
d.      Best Actress: Kangana Ranaut for movie Tanu Weds Manu Returns.
e.       Best Feature Film on National Integration award to Nanak Shah Fakir directed by Sartaj Singh Pannu.

2. IMF STATED FINANCIAL INEQUALITY HIGHEST IN INDIA AND CHINA
i. According to IMF, Financial inequality is highest in India and China among Asia Pacific countries.
ii. Financial inequality in both countries is high despite the two are fastest growing economies.
iii. China and India have grown rapidly and reduced poverty sharply, however, this impressive economic performance has been accompanied by increasing levels of inequality.

3. INDIA TO HOLD FESTIVAL IN EGYPT TO MARK TAGORE'S BIRTH ANNIVERSARY
i. To mark the 155th birth anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore India will organize a cultural festival in Egypt.
ii. It will build the connections between the people of the two countries who share strong cultural bonds.
iii. The festival will be host from 8th May to 12th May.

4. WORLD'S SMALLEST ENGINE POWERED BY LIGHT CREATED
i. The world's smallest engine has been created at Cambridge University by UK based researchers.
ii. The engine is fueled by lasers and gold and a few billionths of a metre in size, which uses lights to power the engine.
iii. The engine will help to develop nano-machines that can navigate in water, sense the environment around them or even enter living cells to fight disease.
iv. The microscopic ANT engine, which cannot be seen by the human eye, is believed to be up to a hundred times more powerful than any other engine known to man.

5. NSE TO LAUNCH NEW EXCHANGE FOR MSME
i. The national stock exchange is going to launch a new trade receivable and credit exchange platform for micro, small and medium enterprises.
ii. This new exchange will help MSMEs to file their bill against large companies.
iii. These bills can be accepted electronically and auctioned so that these small enterprises are paid immediately.
iv. It will be a joint venture between NSE and Small Industries Development Bank of India.
v. The platform would be known as 'Trades Exchange'.
vi. The platform will be based on the Trade Receivables Discounting System .

6. THREE EARTH-LIKE PLANETS DISCOVERED ORBITING DWARF STAR
i. An international team of scientists have discovered a trio of Earth-like exoplanets using the TRAPPIST telescope at ESO’s La Silla Observatory.
ii. These planets were found orbiting just 40 light-years from Earth.
iii. They are likely comparable in size and temperature to Earth and Venus.

1. WORLD PRESS FREEDOM DAY CELEBRATED ON 3RD MAY
i. The World Press Freedom Day observed on 3rd May.
ii. The theme of the day is Access to Information and Fundamental Freedoms - This Is Your Right.
iii. The main aim of day is to draw focus on the freedom of information and ensuring safety for journalists.

2. INDIAN RAILWAYS INKS MOU WITH HARYANA AND PUNJAB TO PLANT TREES ALONGSIDE RAILWAY TRACK
i. The Union Ministry of Railways and Forest Department of Haryana & Punjab have inked Memorandum of Understanding for plantation of trees alongside Railway Track on Railway Land Boundary.
ii. Around 5 lakh trees will planted along Railway Track on Railway Land Boundary prior to Monsoon Season.
iii. The MOU is signed with an aim to contribute substantially towards the Green India Mission.

3. ADMM PLUS EXERCISE ON MARITIME SECURITY AND COUNTER TERRORISM BEGINS IN BRUNEI 
i. ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus Exercise on Maritime Security and Counter Terrorism  has started in Brunei.
ii. The exercise seeks to strengthen the strong bilateral ties and extensive maritime interactions between India and ASEAN countries.
iii. ADMM Plus Ex MS & CT is a multinational naval exercise aims at enhancing mutual understanding related to maritime security issues and counter-terrorism operations at sea.

4. GOOGLE ACQUIRES START-UP BY INDIAN-ORIGIN BUSINESSMAN
i. Google has acquired a business technology start-up 'Synergyse' founded by an Indian-origin entrepreneur as part of its plans to scale training offerings for Google Apps to its customers and customers' users.
ii. The Synergyse is founded by Varun Malhotra in the year 2013.
iii. It aims to teach users how to use Google Apps.

5. BHEL COMMISSIONS 600 MW THERMAL POWER PLANT IN MP
i. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd  has announced the commissioning of a 600 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Madhya Pradesh.
ii. The project has been developed by Jhabua Power Ltd
iii. This is the second project of commissioned by BHEL after the 600 MW Avantha Bhandar TPP at Raigarh in Chhattisgarh.

6. KISHORE BIYANI APPOINTED MD OF BHARTI RETAIL
i. Kishore Biyani has been appointed managing director of Bharti Retail .
ii. Rakesh Biyani, who is also a director at Future Group, has also been appointed as Joint Managing Director of Bharti Retail.

7. SACHIN TENDULKAR TO BE INDIA'S GOODWILL AMBASSADOR AT RIO OLYMPICS
i. Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar has appointed as India's Olympic goodwill ambassador.
ii. Now three persons are appointed as goodwill ambassador are Sachin Tendulkar, actor Salman Khan and Shooter Abhinav Bindra.

8. VIRAT KOHLI NOMINATED FOR KHEL RATNA AND AJINKYA RAHANE FOR ARJUNA AWARD
i. BCCI has nominated Indian Test captain Virat Kohli for the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award and Ajinkya Rahane for Arjuna Award.
ii. Sports persons nominated for the Khel Ratna Award  are  shooter Jitu Rai, squash star Dipika Pallikal, athlete Tintu Luka and ace golfer Anirban Lahiri.

iii. For Arjuna Awards Athletes Lalita Babar and OP Jaisha, shooters PN Prakash and Apurvi Chandela, and archer Laxmirani Majhi have been nominated.

1. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES PRADHAN MANTRI UJJWALA YOJANA
i. The Union Government launched Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana for providing free of cost LPG connections to women from BPL Households.
ii. It was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Maldepur Morh, Ballia in Uttar Pradesh.
iii. The tagline for the scheme is Swachh Indhan, Behtar Jeevan.
iv. The beneficiaries will receive monetary support of about 1,600 rupees to get a connection of cooking gas

2. INDIAN TEAM WIN ONE SILVER AND TWO BRONZE IN ARCHERY WORLD CUP
i. Indian women’s team has won silver medal in the recurve team final of Archery World Cup held at the Yuanshen Stadium in Shanghai, China.
ii. Women’s team included Deepika Kumari, Bombayla Devi Laishram and Laxmirani Majhi.
iii. Indian men’s recurve team comprised of Atanu Das, Jayanta Talukdar and Mangal Singh Champia to bag the bronze medal.

3. MAHARASHTRA GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES ADI PRAMAN APP FOR CASTE VALIDITY CERTIFICATE
i. Maharashtra Government has launched Adi Praman a web based application for state’s tribal population to get the caste validity certificates online.
ii. The application is first of its kind for any state in India.
iii. Adi Praman app will help  tribal people from the state to obtain caste validity certificates online using this application.
iv. It will also help the state government to achieve the goal of the Digital India programme.

4. NABARD PARTNERS GERMANY FOR FOOD SECURITY INITIATIVE
i. National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development entered into collaboration with German government for a special programme on 'Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security'.
ii. The programme is part of the German government's recently introduced special initiative 'One World, No Hunger' initiative.
iii. India is the only country in Asia chosen for this initiative.
iv. Germany’s 'One World, No Hunger' addresses areas such as food and nutrition security, promotion of innovation, protection and sustainable use of natural resources in rural areas.

5. INDIAN NAVY DECOMMISSIONED INS VEER AND INS NIPAT
i. Indian Navy decommissioned Indian Naval Ships  Veer and Nipat in the Naval Dockyard, Mumbai.
ii. INS Veer was commissioned into Indian Navy on 26 March 1987.
iii. INS Nipat was brought into Navy on 5 December 1988
iv. Both the ships served as the guardians of International Maritime Border off west coast of India

6. SOUTH INDIA’S FIRST UNDERGROUND CORRIDOR OF NAMMA METRO INAUGURATED
i. Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated the underground corridor of Bengalore Metro Rail.
ii. Bengalore Metro Rail is also known as Namma Metro.
iii. The Namma Metro or Bengaluru Metro as the first in South India to have an operational underground section of Metro Rail.
