1. NITI AAYOG LAUNCHED WOMEN TRANSFORMING INDIA CAMPAIGN IN PARTNERSHIP WITH UN AND MYGOV
i. The NITI Aayog celebrated 8 March as International Women’s Day by launching the Women Transforming India initiative in partnership with the UN in India and My Gov. 
ii. The campaigning is launched to encourage and recognize women who have made a difference, particularly, by demonstrating leadership in the economic, socio-cultural and environmental front.

2. TEZPUR UNIVERSITY AND JNU WON THE ANNUAL VISITOR’S AWARDS FOR CENTRAL UNIVERSITIES
i. Tezpur University  won the annual Visitor’s Award for the Best University.
ii. Rakesh Bhatnagar and the Molecular Parasitology Group of Jawaharlal Nehru University  have also won the Visitor’s Awards for Research and Innovation.

3. MUMBAI TO HOST BRICS FRIENDSHIP CITIES CONCLAVE IN APRIL
i. Mumbai is going to host BRICS Friendship Cities Conclave in April involving top Urban Policy makers and Planners from BRICS Nations.
ii. The BRICS Friendship Conclave is a joint initiative of Ministry of External Affairs and Maharashtra Government to be held between April 14 and 16 this year.
iv. Ministers from the BRICS Nations will attend the Conclave to be inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

4. FORMER SC JUDGE BS CHAUHAN APPOINTED 21ST LAW COMMISSION CHAIRPERSON
i. Union Government appointed former Supreme Court judge Justice Balbir Singh Chauhan as the chairperson of the 21st Law Commission.
ii. The Law Commission includes


a.    Justice Ravi R Tripathi, was appointed as the member of the commission.
b.   PK Malhotra, Member-Secretary and Secretary to the Union Government
c.    PK Malhotra as Law Secretary Member (Ex-Officio)
d.   Dr. G Narayana Raju, Secretary (Legislative) Member (Ex-Officio)
e.    Dr. Pawan Sharma, Secretary to the Law Commission of India


iii. The 20th Law Commission was headed by Justice A P Shah.

5. INDIA AND BANGLADESH INKS $2 BILLION LINE OF CREDIT
i. India has signed the line of credit agreement of 2 billion dollars for financing the Bangladesh for undertaking development projects.
ii. This credit line will be provided through Export Import Bank of India
iii. It is Exim Bank’s biggest ever Line of Credit facility given to another country.
iv. The development financing will be used in the infrastructural projects like power sector, road transportation, railways, shipping, information and communication technology and social sector projects.

6. REST OF INDIA GRABBED 2015-16 IRANI CUP CRICKET TITLE
i. Rest of India has grabbed the Irani Cup Cricket Title 2015-16 by defeating Mumabi .
ii. Rest of India overhauled the record victory target of 480 by making 482 for 6 on the fifth and final day.
iii. The Irani Cup tournament was started during the 1959-60 season to mark the completion of 25 years of the Ranji Trophy championship.

iv. It is named after the late Zal R Irani, who was associated with the Board of Control for Cricket in India from its inception in 1928 till his death in 1970.

   1.  57 COUNTRIES TO PARTICIPATE IN FIRST-EVER MARITIME INDIA SUMMIT 2016
     i. 57 countries are going to participate in the 1st Maritime India Summit 2016 scheduled to be held in April 2016 in Mumbai.
   ii. It was announced by the Union Shipping Minister Nitin Gadkari on the media launch of the Maritime India Summit 2016.
   iii. Maritime India Summit 2016 is the first Maritime India Summit to be hosted by Mumbai.
   iv. The main focus of summit is to give importance to Make In India and blue economy.

  2. PAYTM GETS READY FOR 1ST PAYMENT BANK
  i. The country’s largest mobile wallet provider Paytm has inked a agreement with banking and payments technologies FIS Global.

  i. Government Karnataka has unveiled Mukhyamantri Santwana Harish Yojana to provide free medical treatment to road accident victims for the first 48 hours in the nearest hospital.
  ii. The scheme is named after Harish Nanjappa who had died as no help was provided to him after he was severely injured in an accident in February 2016.
  iii. State govenment hospitals have been ordered not to reject accident victims and will  provie proper medical care for first 48 hours.

  6. 108 FEET JAIN TEERTHANKAR IDOL ENTERS "GUINNESS BOOK OF RECORDS"
  I. 108 feet tall idol of Lord Rishabhdeva the first Teerthankar of Jains has entered the “Guinness World Records” as the world’s tallest Jain statue.
  ii. The idol was dedicated the last month during a grand ceremony where rituals were performed for several days.
  iii. Earlier the 57 feet idol of Lord Bahubali in Shravanabelagola in Karnataka was considered the world’s tallest Jain statue.
  iv. The impressive statue is located at Mangi Tungi Mountain near Teharabad village of Baglan tehsil in this North Maharashtra district.
