1. PADMA AWARD ANNOUNCED BY THE PRESIDENT PRANAB MUKHERJEE
i.  President Pranab Mukherjee has presented five Padma Vibhushan awards at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi.
ii. Padma Vibhushan awards are given to:
A.   Founder of Reliance Industries late Dhirubhai Hirachand Ambani (posthumous),
B.   Former Governor of Jammu and Kashmir Jagmohan,
C.   Art of Living founder Sri Sri Ravi Shankar
D.  Indian-American economist Avinash Kamalakar Dixit and 5.Renowned dancer Yamini Krishnamurti.

2. PRESIDENT RULE IMPOSED IN UTTARAKHAND
i. President’s Rule has been imposed in Uttarakhand before the crucial trust vote in the state assembly for the Harish Rawat government.
ii. President rule is imposed in  Uttarakhand after the constitutional breakdown.
iii. President Pranab Mukherjee imposed emergency under Article 356 of the Constitution.

3. NATIONAL FILM AWARDS GIVEN TO AMITABH BACHCHAN AND KANGANA RANAUT
i. Amitabh Bachchan and Kangana Ranaut have been honoured  with the Best Actor and Best Actress awards for Piku and Tanu Weds Manu Returns at 63rd National Awards.
ii. SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali emerged as the Best Film
iii. Sanjay Leela Bhansali won in the best director category for his movie Bajirao Mastani.

4. ROTAVIRUS VACCINE HAS BEEN LAUNCHED BY THE UNION HEALTH MINISTER
i. The government launched the vaccine for Rotavirus vaccine as part of Universal Immunization Programme to prevent child mortaility due to Rotavirus diarrhoea.
ii. The vaccine, developed indigenously to promote "Make in India" initiative.
iii. The introduction of Rotavirus vaccine will enable the government to directly address the problem of diarrheal deaths.

5. MADHYA PRADESH TO GET ITS FIRST ITBP MODERN WEAPON TRAINING CENTRE
i. Madhya Pradesh is going to have its first Indo Tibetan Border Police weapon training centre at Batiagarh, Damoh.
ii. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has issued orders to set up ITBP's Weapon and Support Weapon Training Centre in the state.

6. HARYANA LAUNCHES SCHEME FOR THE DIFFERENTLY ABLED
i. Haryana Government has launched a new scheme ‘Adapting Homes for the Differently-abled’.
ii. under this scheme pension of 6 months would be given in advance to differently abled persons for adapting their homes as per their requirement.
ii. The grant for diet money to hearing impaired has been increased from Rs 400 to Rs 1,000 per month.

7. MAHARASHTRA GETS ITS FIRST SET OF WOMEN COMMANDERS TO PROTECT FOREST
i. A batch of 20 women are going to become the first women commandos of the state to protect forestry area of Maharashtra.
 ii. The government is putting efforts towards women empowerment.
iii. Recently Indian Navy announced to recruit 3 female fighter pilots.

1. SURYA DEVA APPOINTED AS UN HUMAN RIGHTS COMMISSIONER
i. law professor Surya Deva has been appointed as an adviser on human rights and multinationals and businesses by the UN Human Rights Council .
ii. He will be a member of the 4 member working group on the issue of human rights, transnational corporations and other business enterprises.
iii. The organisation contributes to the development of international human rights standards.

2. HOCKEY INDIA ANNUAL AWARDS ANNOUNCED
i. Deepika and PR Sreejesh has won the Dhruv Batra Player of the Year Award for Women and Men at the Hockey India Annual Awards.
ii. Late Captain Shankar Laxman has been honoured with the Major Dhyan Chand Lifetime Achievement Award.

3. ARVIND KEJRIWAL NAMED AMONG WORLD’S 50 GREATEST LEADERS BY FORTUNE MAGAZINE
i. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been named among the world’s 50 greatest leaders by Fortune magazine.
ii. He is sole leader from India in the list and has been placed at 42nd position.
ii. The list is topped by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
iii. Top 5 persons in th e list are Jeff Bezos followed by Angela Merkel, Aung San Suu Kyi , Pope Francis , Tim Cook.

4. UNION GOVERNMENT RELEASES SELF-REGULATION CODE OF ETHICAL BUSINESS CONDUCT FOR INDUSTRY
i. The Union Consumer Affairs Ministry has released a self regulation Code of ethical business conduct to be adopted by the Industry on providing best products and services.
ii. The code contains provision of trustworthy products and services for the consumers, comply with the competition and anti-trust laws and respond to consumer complaints promptly.
iv. It covers six principles to be adopted by the industry:
a.    Safety of products and services
b.   Building sustainable supply chains
c.    Marketing products ethically
d.   Non-indulgence in unfair trade practices
e.    Complying with competition and anti-trust laws
f.     Prompt response to consumer complaints.

5. ANDHRA GOVT SET TO INAUGURATE COUNTRY'S FIRST LIFT IRRIGATION PROJECT
i. Andhra Pradesh government has  become the first Indian state to implement lift irrigation.
ii. Andhra Pradesh government is going to inaugurate Pattiseema lift irrigation project.
iii. The first river linking project in country connecting Godavari with Krishna river.
iv. The project was designed to lift 80 trillion metric cubic feet of flood water in a span of 110 days during the flooding season between July and October from Godavari.

6. FEDERAL BANK TO OPEN STARTUP INCUBATION CENTRES
i. Federal Bank is going  to open an incubation centers for startups in Bangalore and Ernakulam.
ii. These branches will offer advice on capital, regulatory support and even disburse funds for Startups.
iii. These centres are named as Launchpad and are equipped with fast internet connections, support staff from the financial world and advisory mechanisms.
iv. These centres would be the perfect for future entrepreneurs because they will be equipped with bank executives capable of dealing with the financial requirements of start-ups

7. HARYANA CABINET HAS APPROVED JAT RESERVATION BILL
i. The Haryana cabinet today approved the Jat reservation bill.
ii. The bill is passed after the Akhil Bhartiya Jat Aarakshan Sangharsh Samiti threatened to resume the agitation if its demands are not met by the end of this month.

iii. The Haryana cabinet today cleared the bill that proposes to provide reservation to five communities, including Jat, Jat Sikh, Tyagi, Bishnoi and Ror.

1. RBI ISSUED REVISED FRAMEWORK FOR REVIVAL AND REHABILITATION OF MSMES
i. The Reserve Bank of India issued revised Framework for Revival and Rehabilitation of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises.
ii. The Framework has to be put in place by the banks before 30 June 2016.
iii. It shall be applicable to MSMEs having loan limits up to 25 crore rupees including accounts under consortium or multiple banking arrangement.
iv. In order to have faster resolution of stress in an MSME account, every bank shall form Committees for Stressed MSMEs

2. UNION CABINET APPROVED MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND UAE TO MOBILISE LONG TERM INVESTMENT INTO NIIF
i. The Union Cabinet gave its ex-post facto approval for a MoU between India and the United Arab Emirates to mobilise long term investment into the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund.
ii. It is signed to maximize economic impact mainly through infrastructure development in commercially viable projects in India.
iii. It will facilitate establishment of a transparent and high-level framework and collaboration platform for smooth flow of investments for this purpose.
iv. National Investment and Infrastructure Fund was approved by the Union Cabinet in last year to fund new and rejuvenate stressed projects.

4. ANDHRA PRADESH GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES COUNTRY’S FIRST LIFT IRRIGATION PROJECT

i. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited announced  commission of  a 600 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Telangana.
ii. The 1200 MW Jaipur Power Plant is being developed by Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
iii. Earlier in December 2015 the 600 MW Kakatiya Thermal Power Plant Stage was commissioned at Bhoopalapally in Warangal district.
