2. INDIA REPLACES CHINA AS TOP FDI DESTINATION IN 2015
i. According to FDI Intelligence Report India has replaced China as the top Foreign Direct Investment destination.
ii. India is attracting $63 billion worth FDI projects in 2015.
iii. India has replaced China as the top destination for FDI by capital investment following of high-value project announcements.
iv. Top destination states for FDI in 2015 in India are Gujarat and then by Maharashtra

3. ISRO SCIENTISTS MADE WORLD’S LIGHTEST MATERIAL ‘SILICA AEROGEL’ TO KEEP SOLDIERS WARM IN SIACHEN
i. Scientists at the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre in Thiruvananthapuram indigenously manufactured the world's lightest synthetic material called ‘silica aerogel’ or ‘blue air’ or ‘frozen smoke’.
ii. It is Silica Aerogel is the lightest synthetic material ever made by man.
iii. It has an excellent thermal resistance and if it is used as filler in soldiers' uniforms it can save many lives at the Siachen glacier.
iv. The material can be used both in space and on Earth. Scientists also hope it can be used to insulate rocket engines.

1.      UN, IMF, WORLD BANK AND OECD FORMED PLATFORM FOR COLLABORATION ON TAX
i. Four international organization joined hands to form the Platform for collaboration in Tax Matters.
ii. The Platform has been set up to boost global cooperation in tax matters.
iii. It is announced after the release of the "Panama Papers"   leakage.
iv. The organizations are:
a.       The International Monetary Fund (IMF)
b.      The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD)
c.       The United Nations (UN)
d.      The World Bank Group (WBG)
e.       V.It is formed to develop the measures relating to international tax issues.

2. UNION GOVERNMENT MERGED RAJIV GANDHI KHEL ABHIYAAN WITH KHELO INDIA
i. The Union Government has merged Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan with the Khelo India programme for development of sports.
ii. The other two sport projects such as Urban Sports Infrastructure Scheme and National Sports Talent Search have also been absorbed under Khelo India.
iii. Khelo India is based on Gujarat's model of Khel Mahakumbh, in which schools and colleges from different parts of the country participate.

3. UNION GOVERNMENT RENAMED DEPARTMENT OF DISINVESTMENT AS DIPAM
i. Union Government has renamed the Department of Disinvestment as Department of Investment and Public Asset Management.
ii. The decision is taken for proper management of Union government’s investments in equity including its disinvestment in central public sector undertakings
iii. The new scheme will advise government in the matters of financial restructuring of central public sector enterprises and for attracting investment through capital markets.

4. RBL BANK BECAME FIRST PRIVATE SECTOR BANK TO OPEN DEDICATED BRANCH FOR START-UPS IN INDIA
i. The RBL Bank became the first private sector bank in India to open dedicated branch for start-ups.
ii. The dedicated branch was inaugurated at Koramangala, Bengaluru.
iii. Earlier SBI become first bank to started specific branches to serve the needs of start-ups in Bengaluru.

5. EUROPE BECOMES WORLD’S FIRST REGION TO END MALARIA A REPORT BY WHO
i. Europe has become the world’s first region to completely wipe out Malaria.
ii. A Particular region is declared Malaria free by WHO after it has zero locally acquired malaria cases for at least three consecutive years.

6. BCCI APPOINTED RAHUL JOHRI AS ITS CEO
i. Board of Control for Cricket in India appointed Rahul Johri as its Chief Executive Officer
ii. The creation of the post of the CEO was a change recommended by the three-member Lodha panel in its report in January 2016.

iii. The panel had stressed the need for the BCCI to separate its governance and management duties, with the CEO taking charge of the management side.

1. MANEKA GHANDHI LAUNCHED BETI BACHAO, BETI PADHAO SCHEME IN 61 MORE DISTRICTS
i. The Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Scheme extended to additional 61 districts across 11 States and UTs with low Child Sex Ratio.
ii. Last Year The scheme  was  launched by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi.
 iii. The Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao scheme is started to control the issue of declining Child Sex Ratio and issues related to disempowerment of women.

2. INDIA INKED MOU WITH MAURITIUS FOR COOPERATION IN TRADITIONAL MEDICINE AND HOMOEOPATHY
i. India and Mauritius have inked an MoU on cooperation in the field of traditional system of medicine and Homoeopathy.
ii. It aims to promote and popularize the various Indian traditional systems which fall under AYUSH.
iv. The MoU will help to promote cooperation in the field of traditional system of health and medicine between the countries.

3. CULTURE & TOURISM MINISTER RELEASES COMMEMORATIVE AND CIRCULATION COIN ON TATYA TOPE
i. A memorial Coin of Rs. 200 and a Coin of Rs. 10 on Tatya Tope released by Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Dr. Mahesh Sharma.
ii. The day is observed on the occasion   of his Martyr Day in New Delhi.
iii. He is one of the most outstanding leaders of India’s War of Independence.
iv. The coins are issued on the 200th Birth Anniversary of Tatya Tope.

4. FICCI LADIES ORGANISATION GOING TO SET UP CENTRES IN GUJARAT
i. FICCI Ladies Organization is going to set up two Mahila Huts in Gujarat.
ii. These centres will help in the upliftment of women belonging to all sections of the society by providing them education and training.
iii. FLO is the women wing of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
iv. It aims to encourage and facilitate women to showcase their talents,experiences, skills and energies across sectors.
iv. Two 'Mahila Hut' at Vadodara and Ahmedabad in Gujarat are planned to be opened.

5 . 14TH MEETING OF FOREIGN MINISTERS OF RUSSIA, INDIA AND CHINA HELD IN MOSCOW
i. The 14th meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Russia, India and of China was held in Moscow, Russian.
ii. The meeting is attended by Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Union Minister of Foreign Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Foreign Affairs of China Wang Yi.
iii. The Meeting aimed at the progress in strengthening the international legal framework underlying the modern world order and the neutralisation of common challenges.

6. NOVAK AND SERENA WILLIAMS BAGGED TOP HONOURS AT LAUREUS WORLD SPORTS AWARDS
i. Tennis players Novak Djokovic and Serena Williams have grabbed 'Sportsman and sportswoman of the Year' Laureus World Sports Awards.
ii. American golf star Jordan Spieth, won the ‘Breakthrough of the Year’ award.

iii. Paralympic swimmer Daniel Dias of Brazil honoured with disabled sportsperson of the year award.

1.  WORLD HERITAGE DAY OBSERVED ON 18TH APRIL, 2016
i. World Heritage Day was observed all over the world on 18th  April.
ii. The day is observed with an aim to create awareness among the people towords conserve and protect the valuable assets and cultural heritage across the world.
iii. The theme for the day is: The Heritage of Sport.

2. BANKS TO SHARE ALL TRANSACTION DETAILS IN STANDARD FORMAT
i. The Banks will have to share the transaction details in a standard format.
ii. The decision is taken because the revenue intelligence and central security agencies are looking seriously into money laundering and financial fraud cases.
iii. Enforcement Directorate also emphasised that the details of cheque transaction should also be provided by the banks in the prescribed format.

 3. THE 13TH ISLAMIC SUMMIT CONFERENCE CONCLUDED IN ISTANBUL
i. The 13th session of the Islamic Summit Conference was concluded in Istanbul, Turkey.
ii. The theme of the event is Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace.
iii. The main purpose is to discuss the current situation in Syria, Afghanistan, Yemen, Libya, Somalia, Mali, Jammu and Kashmir, Bosnia-Herzegovina and Armenia’s aggressions on Azerbaijan.
iv. The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation is an international organization founded in 1969 consisting of 57 member states.

4. UNION GOVERNMENT RELEASED COMMEMORATIVE COIN AND CIRCULATION COIN ON TATYA TOPE
i. Union Minister for Culture and Tourism and Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma  released a Commemorative Coin of 200 rupees and a Circulation Coin of 10 rupees to mark the Martyrdom Day of Tatya Tope.
ii. The Union Ministry of Culture has been celebrating the 200th Birth Anniversary of Tatya Tope.
iii. Tatya Tope  known as Ramachandra Pandurang Tope was one of the most outstanding leaders of India’s First War of Independence in 1857.

5. DIPA KARMAKAR BECAME FIRST INDIAN WOMAN GYMNAST TO QUALIFY FOR OLYMPICS
i. Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar created history by becoming the first Indian woman gymnast to qualify for Olympics.
ii. He booked his berth for the Rio Games after a strong performance at the final qualifying and test event.

6. DELL RELEASED LIST OF FUTURE READY ECONOMIES MODEL
i. Dell released its ranking of Future Ready Economies Model globally.
ii. San Jose topped the list and Delhi in India ranked at 44th place.

iii. These rankings are based on the embracing technology  of the counties to adapt and thrive in an ever changing and globalised future.

1. PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI INAUGURATED MARITIME INDIA SUMMIT 2016
i. The two days Maritime India Summit 2016 has been inaugurated by Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi.
ii. It is India’s 1st Maritime Summit organised by Union Ministry of Shipping in Goregaon Mumbai from 14th April to 16 April, 2016.
iii. More than 50 other maritime nations have been invited to come to India to explore potential business opportunities in Indian Maritime Sector.
v. The summit will project large investment opportunities in each of the Indian Maritime States and Union Territories.

2. BRICS BANK DISBURSES $250 MILLION LOAN FOR RENEWABLE ENERGY PROJECT TO CANARA BANK
i. The New Development Bank has sanctioned  a fund of $250 million to India’s renewable energy projects.
ii. The NDB approved four green renewable energy projects from India, Brazil ,China and South Africa of $811 million.
iii. The project from India entails provisioning of multi-tranche loan of $250 million to Canara Bank for lending to renewable energy projects.

3. JHARKHAND GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED BHIMRAO AMBEDKAR AWAS YOJANA FOR WIDOWS
i. The Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das has launched the "Bhimrao Ambedkar Awas Yojana" for widows.
ii.The yojna is  launched on the 125th  birth anniversary of B R Ambedkar.
ii. The main purpose of the scheme is to create equality and harmony in society, ensuring all round development.
iii. The scheme is aimed to build 11,000 houses for the current financial year
4. 69TH HIMACHAL DAY OBSERVED ON 15TH APRIL
i. Himachal Pradesh is celebrating 69th Himachal Day on 15th April.
ii. After independence, the Chief Commissioner's Province of Himachal Pradesh came into existence on 15 April 1948.
iii. The himachal Pardesh is formed after the merger of 28 petty princely states

5. INDIAN ARMY CONDUCTS SHATRUJEET BATTLE EXERCISE IN RAJASTHAN
i. ‘Shatrujeet’ the battle exercise is conducted  in  Indian Army in the Thar Desert of Rajasthan.
ii. The main purpose of the exercise was to evaluate the capability of the Indian Army.
iii. The another main objective is to fine tune army’s proactive war strategy to respond swiftly to any threat to nation’s security.

6. AUSTRALIA WINS 2016 SULTAN AZLAN SHAH HOCKEY TOURNAMENT
i. Australia has won the 25th edition of Sultan Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament 2016 .
ii. In the final match Australia defeated India by 4-0 goals.
iii. Azlan Shah Hockey Tournament is an annual international men’s field hockey tournament held in Malaysia.
iv. It is named after 9th king of Malaysia and ‘Father of Malaysian Hockey’ Sultan Azlan Shah.

7. US COURT IMPOSED 940 MILLION DOLLARS FINE ON TWO TATA GROUP COMPANIES
i. The federal grand jury in the US State of Wisconsin has slapped 940 million US dollars fine against two companies of India’s Tata group.
ii. These two companies are Tata Consultancy Services  and Tata America International Corp.
iii. They were fined in a trade secret lawsuit filed against them by the US based electronics medical records vendor Epic Systems.
iv. The US based company in its lawsuit has alleged that TCS employee reviewed its intellectual property under the pretence of doing consulting work for Kaiser Permanente, the largest managed health care company in the US.

v. While doing so he downloaded Epic’s proprietary software to help build a rival system.
