1. CABINET APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF HIGHER EDUCATION FINANCING AGENCY
i. The Cabinet has approved the creation of the Higher Education Financing Agency (HEFA), taking a step closer to developing high quality infrastructure in premier educational institutions.
ii. The HEFA would be formed as a SPV within a PSU Bank or Government-owned-NBFC (Promoter).

2. DEEPA MALIK BECOMES FIRST INDIAN WOMAN TO WIN MEDAL AT PARALYMPICS
i. India’s Deepa Malik created history by becoming the first ever woman from the country to win a medal at the Paralympics.
ii. With the win, she confirmed India’s third medal from the Rio Paralympics. She will receive a cash award of Rs 4 crore under Haryana Sports Scheme for winning the silver medal.

3. WORLD’S LONGEST BULLET TRAIN NETWORK ESTABLISHED IN CHINA
i. World’s longest bullet train network length of 2000kms established by China Railway. Construction of the line started in December 2012
ii. The line has 9 stations and trains run at a speed of up to 300 kph.
iii. China is conducting feasibility study to build the bullet train track between Chennai and New Delhi.

4. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY OBSERVED ON 15 SEP
I. International Day of Democracy was observed on 15 September.
ii.The theme of the day is Democracy and the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
iii.The day is observed to provide an opportunity to review the state of democracy in the world.

5. 14 SEPTEMBER OBSERVED ON NATIONAL HINDI DIVAS
i. The National Hindi Divas  an annual literary-day is being observed on 14 September.
ii.The day is observed in Hindi speaking regions of India and other countries with Hindi speaking population.
iii.The day is observed with a theme of promoting Hindi language and its cultural heritage and values.

6. DEVENDRA JHAJHARIA WINS GOLD MEDAL IN JAVELIN THROW AT 2016 RIO PARALYMPICS
i. India’s Devendra Jhajharia has won gold medal in the men’s javelin throw at the 2016 Rio Paralympics.
ii.He becomes only the second gold medallist at the Paralympics for the country.
iii.He had also secured the gold medal in the javelin event at the 2004 Athens Paralympics

i. Army Green on has won the 128th edition of Durand Cup football title.
ii. Army Green defeated Neroca FC 6-5 via penalty shootouts.

2. STAN WAWRINKA WON U.S. OPEN CHAMPION
i. Stan Wawrinka defeated world number one Novak Djokovic to won  US Open tennis tournament.

3. CENTRE INAUGURATES NATIONAL FAIR IN BENGALURU
i. Union Minister of State for Ayush Shri Shripad Yesso Naik inaugurated the National Fair on comprehensive Indian Medicine system (AROGYA) in Bengaluru.
ii. The two days BRICS Wellness Workshop and AROGYA fair is being organized by the Ministry of AYUSH, in collaboration with Research and Information System for Developing Countries.

4. CENTRE ISSUES FRESH GUIDELINES FOR FLEXI-FUND FOR CSS
i. The government has issued fresh flexi-fund guidelines that will give more freedom to states in spending money under the Centrally Sponsored Schemes .
ii.The fresh guidelines are issued to meet local developmental requirements.
ii. Under the new norms, flexi-funds in each CSS has been increased from the current 10% to 25% for states and 30% for Union Territories.

5. UNION GOVERNMENT ISSUES MODEL GUIDELINES FOR STATES TO CURB PONZI SCHEMES
i. The Union Government has issued model guidelines for states to regulate direct selling and multi-level marketing businesses to protect consumers from Ponzi frauds.
ii. These entities will have to enter into an agreement with direct sellers or agents, and give full refund or buy-back guarantee for goods and services sold to them.
iii. It also mandates direct sellers to constitute a grievance redressal committee to protect consumers’ right.

1. INDIAN AND US ARMY EXERCISE ‘YUDH ABHYAS 2016’ STARTED IN UTTARAKHAND
i. Under the Indo-US defence cooperation a joint military training exercise, ‘Yudh Abhyas 2016’ is started in Uttarakhand.
ii. The exercise in Chaubattia was being conducted by the headquarter Central Command.

2. CABINET APPROVES FORMATION AND FUNCTIONING OF GST COUNCIL
i. The Union Cabinet has approved the formation, process and functioning of the Goods and Services Tax Council.
ii. The primary function of the GST Council will be to decide the GST rate along with many other things.
iii. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley will be heading the GST Council and state e finance ministers will assist him.

3. VIDYA BALAN APPOINTED AS BRAND AMBASSADOR OF SAMAJWADI PENSION YOJANA
i. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has been appointed as brand ambassador of the ambitious Samajwadi Pension Yojana by Uttar Pradesh government.
ii. She is also associated with the "ghar-ghar shauchalya" campaign of the Union government

i. The government today launched a toll-free number 1924 to register postal complaints.
ii. It will initially be operational for 12 hours on working days and has been started in Hindi, Malayalam, and English.

1. MEA LAUNCHES ONLINE MODULE FOR INDIAN STUDENTS STUDYING ABROAD
i. The ministry of external affairs for maintaining the records and database of Indian students studying abroad, Government of India has launched a Student Registration module.
ii.The portal is known as  MADAD portal , madad.gov.in.
iii. This initiative came into existence due to unavailability of the data on Indian students studying abroad.

2. ODISHA BAGS 9TH GLOBAL AGRICULTURE LEADERSHIP AWARD 2016
i. Odisha grabbed 9th Global Agriculture Leadership Award 2016 in agriculture development at New Delhi.
ii.Indian Council of Food and Agriculture  have given this award in recognition of the efforts towards development of agriculture and bringing rural prosperity.

3. CHRIS GAYLE LAUNCHES HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY 'SIX MACHINE' IN INDIA
i.West Indies opener Chris Gayle launched his autobiography ‘Six Machine'.
ii.It contains extensive details about his life and career.
iii.It is published by Viking-Penguin UK and launched by Anurag Singh Thakur, President of the BCCI.

4. INDO AND US ECONOMIC SUMMIT FROM SEPTEMBER 13
i. The 2-day Indo-US Economic Summit will start today in New Delhi on September 13.
ii. Leaders from business, government and academia from both the countries will participate in the summit.
iii. They will focus on the ways to enhance bilateral trade and investments between India and the US.

5. YOGA GURU RAMDEV SETS UP MEGA FOOD PARK IN NAGPUR
i. Renowned Yog Guru and founder of Patanjali group Baba Ramdev has laid the foundation stone of his dream project Patanjali Mega Food and Herbal Park in Mihan .
ii.Mihan is located in the  outskirts of Nagpur.
iii. He announced that Patanjali group will give soft loans to farmers in the area for producing various agro products.

1. ISRO LAUNCHED INSAT-3DR FROM SRIHARIKOTA
i. The Indian Space Research Organisation  has launched GSLV rocket which will carry the weather satellite INSAT-3DR from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
ii. The 2211-kg INSAT 3DR will be placed in an orbit 36,000 km above Earth.

2. SIKKIM IS THE CLEANEST STATE IN INDIA
i. Sikkim has been adjudged as the cleanest state India in the survey conducted by National Sample Survey Office
ii. Jharkhand has been placed at the last in the list of 26 states.
