i. Basketball player LeBron James has been chosen as the Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year.
ii. He became the second athlete ever to win the award twice.

3. SPANISH CITY CHANGES NAME FOR THIRD TIME IN A DECADE
i. A Spanish city has changed its name for the third time in a decade, renaming itself Palma from Palma de Mallorca.
ii. The city was renamed Palma in 2008, but its name was changed to Palma de Mallorca in 2012.

1. HAILAKHANDI FIRST IN ASSAM TO PAY TEA WORKERS VIA BANK ACCOUNT
i. Hailakandi has become the first district in Assam to pay wages to tea garden workers through individual bank accounts.
ii. The state has set december 15 as deadline for cashless transactions to the plantation workers.

2. INDIA TO TRAIN QATAR POLICE TO HOST FIFA WORLD CUP 2022
i. India will train Qatar police for handling the security during the FIFA World Cup 2022 scheduled to be held in that country.
ii. The training arrangement was agreed upon during a meeting between Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al Thani and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh in New Delhi.

3. HEART OF ASIA' CONFERENCE HAS KICKED OFF IN AMRITSAR
i. The sixth 'Heart of Asia' ministerial conference has started in n Amritsar, Punjab .
ii. The main aim is to discuss peace, cooperation and economic development in Afghanistan.
iii. Delegates from nearly 40 countries will participate in the conference organised on the theme 'Addressing Challenges, Achieving Prosperity'.
iv. The main conference has been inaugurated jointly by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani.

1. WORLD’S LARGEST BIRD FESTIVAL IN AGRA
i. UP Eco-tourism has organized a three-day international festival on birds at the National Chambal Sanctuary in the Bah tehsil, Agra.
ii The main of the event is to promote eco-tourism in Uttar Pradesh and to declare it as an international bird watching destination.

2. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PERSONS WITH DISABILITIES OBSERVED-3RD DECEMBER

Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur (1526 – 1530):
·         Defeated Ibrahim Lodi at Panipat in 1526 and founded the Mughal Empire in India.
·         He was a descendant of Timur on his father’s side and of Chengiz Khan on the side of his mother.
·         On the death of his father Umar Shaikh Mirza, Babur inherited the ancestral kingdom of Farghana in 1494 and invaded India five times. The first real expedition took place in 1519 when he captured Bhera, and he fifth was the defeat of Ibrahim Lodi the first battle of Panopat in April 1526.
·         He defeated Raja of Mewar, Sangram Singh or Rana Sanga, in battle that took place 1527 at Khanwa.
·         In 1528, he captured Chanderi from a Rajput Chief Medini Rai and a year later he defeated the Afghan chiefs under Mahmud Lodi in the battle of Ghaghra in Bihar.
·         In 1530, he died at Agra. His tomb is at Lahore (The tomb of only two Mughal emperors are outside India i.e. Babur and Bahadur Shah Zafar).
·         His autobiography, Tuzuk-i-Baburi or Baburnamah, which he wrote in his mother-tongue Turki gave detail account of his reign.

2. SACHIN TENDULKAR'S AUTOBIOGRAPHY "PLAYING IT MY WAY" NAMED BOOK OF THE YEAR
i. The autobiography of India’s Sachin Tendulkar “Playing it my way” has won the prestigious Crossword Book of the Year Award in the Autobiography category.
ii. The book is penned by Boria Majumdar.
iii. Earlier, it also had entered the Limca Book of World Records for being the best selling.

3. ANDHRA PRADESH CM CHANDRABABU TO HEAD CENTRAL COMMITTEE TO PROMOTE E-PAYMENTS
i. NITI Aayog under the banner of the Union Government, constituted a 13-member committee to promote cashless economy.
ii. The committee will be headed by Andhra Pradesh CM Chandrababu Naidu.
iii. The committee will be formed by Chief Ministers of various states representing different political parties to examine and promote the use of digital payment systems across the country.
iv. The Committee will identify the best global practices for implementing an economy primarily based on digital payment.

i. The Indian state of Goa prepares itself to become the first state to operate cashless in the country from 31 December 2016.

i. Susan Kiefel has been named Australia's first female High Court chief justice – ending 113 years of men leading the nation's highest court.

4. UTKARSH MICRO FINANCE GETS FINAL NOD TO SET UP SMALL FINANCE BANK
i. Varanasi-based micro-finance institution Utkarsh Micro Finance has received the final license from The Reserve Bank of India to start operations as Small Finance Bank .
ii. In October 2015, Utkarsh Micro Finance had got the "in-principle" approval to set up SFB as per the guidelines issued by the RBI.

5. PLANE CARRYING BRAZILIAN FOOTBALLERS CRASHES IN COLOMBIA
i. A chartered plane with 81 people on board, including members of Brazilian football club Chapecoense, crashed in Colombia with all of them feared dead.
ii. The plane was travelling from Bolivia to MedellĂ­n, where the team was scheduled to play the Copa Sudamericana's final.

1. AKODARA IN GUJARAT BECOMES INDIA’S FIRST DIGITAL VILLAGE
i. Akodara village in Sabarkantha district of Gujarat recently declared as first digital village in India.
ii. The village, will use various cashless systems for payments of goods and services.
iii. All transactions in the village are carried out through digital modes like net-banking, SMS or debit cards.

2. INDIA’S FIRST CYCLE HIGHWAY INAUGURATED IN UP
i. Uttar Pradesh CM Akhilesh Yadav has inaugurated India’s first and Asia’s longest bicycle highway between Agra and Etawah in UP.
ii. A rally of 90 cyclists from five countries and across India followed the inauguration ceremony at the Lion Safari in Etawah.

3. BAPU'S CHARKHA AMONG 100 'MOST INFLUENTIAL PHOTOS OF ALL TIME'
i. A 1946 picture of Mahatma Gandhi with his Charkha in the foreground is among the 100 most influential images of all time .
ii. The Time collection includes 100 of the most iconic and history-altering images, dating from the 1820s to 2015.
iii. Among the pictures is the tragic photo of the lifeless body of three-year-old Syrian Alan Kurdi lying face down on the shore near the coastal town of Bodrum.
