1. INDIA AND KYRGYZSTAN SIGNED 6 AGREEMENTS
i. India and Kyrgyzstan have signed 6 agreements to boost bilateral cooperation.
ii. The agreements were signed in New Delhi during the State visit of Kyrgyzstan President Almazbek Atambaye.

2. 9TH WORLD CONFLUENCE OF HUMANITY, POWER AND SPIRITUALITY: NEW DELHI
i. The ninth edition of World Confluence of Humanity, Power and Spirituality, organised by ASSOCHAM in association with SREI Foundation and Times Foundation, introduced a fresh culture of ‘Spirituality @ Work’ through its brand Sach Bharat, inspiring distinguished industrialists, business leaders, industry captains and noted politicians to imbibe spirituality at their respective work places and lives.
ii.The Confluence was inaugurated in the presence of ASSOCHAM President Mr. Sunil Kanoria,  Hon’ble President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee, and SREI Foundation Chairman Dr. Hari Prasad Kanoria.

3. GOVT ANNOUNCES RS 207 CRORE PROJECT FOR PROTECTION OF MAJULI ISLAND
i. Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region Dr Jitendra Singh has announced to provide 207 crore rupees for protection and development of the world heritage island Majuli located in Assam.

4. CHHATTISGARH CM LAUNCHES COUNTRY’S FIRST CASHLESS BAZAAR IN RAIPUR
i. Chhattisgarh CM Raman Singh has launched India’s first cashless bazaar in Raipur.
ii. This ‘Smart’ bazaar be composed of nearly Over 900 shops which are providing the facilities of cashless payments using POS, UPI.

1. EPFO LOWERS INTEREST RATE ON EPF TO 8.65%
i. Employee's Provident Fund Organization decided to lower the interest on EPF deposits for the current fiscal to 8.65%, from 8.8%.
ii.The Employees Provident Fund Organisation's apex decision-making body, the Central Board of Trustees  has taken a decision to lower the interest rate.

2. INDIA-NEPAL FOLK CRAFTS FESTIVAL STARTED IN KATHMANDU
i. The five-day India-Nepal Folk Crafts Festival 2016 begins in Kathmandu, Nepal  to promote cultural exchanges between the two countries.
ii. The Main aim of the festival to promote crafts based bilateral relations and enhance cultural exchanges between the artisans of two countries.

3. ANDY MURRAY WINS 3RD BBC SPORTS PERSONALITY OF THE YEAR
i. After claiming his second Wimbledon title and maiden ATP World Tour Finals crown, Britain's world number one Andy Murray won third BBC Sports Personality of the Year award.
ii. Murray previously won the award in 2013 and 2015.

4. PRIYANKA CHOPRA: ASSAM TOURISM BRAND AMBASSADOR
i. Bollywood actress, Priyanka Chopra became the brand ambassador of Assam state tourism.
ii. Priyanka Chopra will promote brand entity of "Awesome Assam".

1. PM NARENDRA MODI UNVEILED FIRST EVER INDIAN INSTITUTE OF SKILLS
i. PM Narendra Modi  unveiled first ever Indian Institute of Skills at Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh.
ii.  Modi also launched Kaushal Pradarshini to portray major skill development initiatives of the Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
iii.  The primary objective of the institute is to empower India’s youth to be more employable and self-sustainable.
iv.  The plan is to set up six such institutes across the country in coming years.
About Kaushal Pradarshini
i.  The objective is to provide quality education, better skills and employment opportunities.
ii.  National Mission for Skill Development was launched in July 2015 to train a minimum of 300 million skilled people by 2022.

 2. JUSTICE J S KHEHAR APPOINTED AS 44TH CJI
i. Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar  was appointed as the 44th Chief Justice of India.
ii. Justice Khehar will be the first Chief Justice of India from the Sikh community.

3. UNION GOVERNMENT FORMS HIGH-LEVEL TASK FORCE ON INDUS WATER TREATY
i. The Union government  formed a high-level inter-ministerial task force to look into all the strategic aspects of Indus Water Treaty with Pakistan.
ii. This task force will be headed by PM Narendra Modi's Principal Secretary  Nripendra  Mishra.

4.  KARUN NAIR BECAME SECOND INDIAN TO SCORE TRIPLE CENTURY IN TESTS
i.  Indian cricketer Karun Nair scored triple century in first innings of the fifth and final test-match against England.
ii. Nair became the second Indian batsmen to score triple century in tests after Virendra Sehwag.

2. PUERTO RICO'S STEPHANIE DEL VALLE:  MISS WORLD 2016
i. Puerto Rico's Stephanie Del Valle has been crowned as the Miss World 2016 at an event held in Maryland, US.
ii. India's Priyadarshini Chatterjee also reached the top 20.

3. MANIPUR CM INAUGURATES TWO NEW DISTRICTS AMID NAGA PROTESTS
i. Manipur CM Okram Ibobi Singh has inaugurated two new districts Pherzawl and Noney.
ii. Now, the total number of the district is 11.

4. SWASTHYA RAKSHA PROGRAMME LAUNCHED BY AYUSH MINISTRY
i. The Union Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy Ministry has launched ‘Swasthya Raksha Programme’ to promote health and health education in villages.
ii.The programme was initiated through Central Council for Research in Ayurvedic Sciences , Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy, Central Council for Research in Unani Medicine and Central Council for Research in Siddha.

6. YES BANK, OLA TIE UP TO PROVIDE CASH AT YOUR DOORSTEP
i. YES Bank has partnered with Ola, one of the popular mobile apps for transportation, to provide cash-on-demand at customer’s doorstep.
ii.Customers will be able to use the Ola app to book a cab and opt for ‘cash at their doorsteps’ that will be enabled using Point-of-Sale machines provided by YES Bank.

1. INDIA, TAJIKISTAN SIGN FOUR AGREEMENTS TO STRENGTHEN COOPERATION TO ADDRESS ISSUE OF TERRORISM
i. India and Tajikistan have signed four agreements in areas including on double taxation avoidance, money laundering and counter-terrorism.
ii. PM Narendra Modi and visiting President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon witnessed the exchange of MoUs in New Delhi.

2. RAJIV JAIN AND AK DHASMANA NAMED NEXT DIRECTOR OF IB AND RAW
i. Jharkhand cadre IPS officer Rajiv Jain was appointed as the new chief of Intelligence Bureau while Anil Dhasmana will head external intelligence agency Research and Analysis Wing
ii. Both the officers will have tenure of two years.

3. LT GEN BIPIN RAWAT AND B.S DHANOA TO BE NEXT INDIAN ARMY CHIEF AND IAF CHIEF
i. Lt General Bipin Rawat will be the new Chief of Army Staff, while Air Marshal BS Dhanoa, the next Chief of Air Staff.
ii. Lt. Gen Rawat will replace General Dalbir Singh Suhag.
iii. Air Marshal Dhanoa will replace Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha.

4. ODISHA: GOVT SETS TARGET FOR CONSTRUCTION OF 1000 KM CONCRETE ROAD
i. Odisha government has decided to construct more 2,000 kilometre of cement concrete roads under the Gopabandhu Gramin Yojana in rural areas by March 2017.
ii. The State government has allocated 1,000 crore rupees for the Gopabandhu Gramin Yojana in the current year’s Budget. The sanctioned funds will be utilised in 30 districts of the State for for road construction and drinking water facilities in rural areas.

5. STATE BANK MOBICASH MOBILE WALLET LAUNCHED
i. Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs, Arun Jaitley and Minister of State for Communications and Minster of State for Railways Manoj Sinha has jointly launched State Bank MobiCash Mobile Wallet, a product by SBI and BSNL.

3. SEVENTH EDITION OF BILATERAL EXERCISE ‘EKUVERIN’ STARTED IN MALDIVES
i. The Seventh edition of Exercise EKUVERIN will be held at Kadhdhoo, Laamu Atoll, Maldives.
ii. The aim of the exercise is to conduct military training with emphasis on amphibious & counter-terrorism operations with a view to enhancing interoperability between the two armies.
iii. The Exercise is a 14-day platoon level joint military exercise between the Indian Army & the Maldives National Defence Force.

4. SMRITI MANDHANA NAMED IN ICC WOMEN’S TEAM OF THE YEAR
i. India’s Smriti Mandhana has been named in the ICC Women’s Team of the Year 2016.
ii. The women’s team of the year has been added to the list of awards to acknowledge and appreciate outstanding performances of women’s cricketers over a 12-month period.

5. INDIA TOPPED ASIA’S INNOVATION CHART
i. India has topped the Asia's innovation chart Index.
ii. The ‘Silicon Valley’ of the east, Bengaluru, which is 5th largest hub at the global level, saw most of the innovations in 2016.

1. PM MODI 9TH MOST POWERFUL PERSON REPORT BY FORBES
i. Prime minister Narendra Modi has ranked 9th on the Forbes list of 74 of the World's Most Powerful People.
ii. The list has topped by Russian President Vladimir Putin for a fourth straight year and had US President-elect Donald Trump in the second place.
iii. Barack Obama is at 48th spot.

2. 'BREXIT' AND 'GET YOUR FREAK ON' ADDED TO OXFORD DICTIONARY
i. 'Brexit' and 'Grexit' (hypothetical withdrawal of Greece from the EU) are among the 1,500 new words and phrases added to the Oxford English Dictionary.
ii. 'Get your freak on' (sexual activity, especially unconventional) and 'glam-ma' (glamorous grandmother) have also been added. 'Bomb', a surfing term for large wave, and 'Bama', popularised by Beyoncé in Formation, are among the additions.

3. PAYTM LAUNCHES ‘EACH ONE, TEACH ONE’ TO INCREASE DIGITAL INCLUSION
i. Paytm has announced a program to increase the digital inclusion in the country where in it is calling upon consumers and merchants across India to teach others on how to use Paytm to pay and accept money.
ii. The campaign is aimed at transforming user behaviour and further accelerating the country’s ongoing shift from cash to digital payments.

4. RIO GETS UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE STATUS
i. The Marvelous City or Rio de Janeiro officially has entered into the UN’s list of world heritage sites while UNESCO status was announced in 2012 in recognition of its soaring granite cliffs, urban rainforest and beaches.
ii. The UN cultural body, UNESCO given this status to Rio to highlighted the “extraordinary fusion” of man-made and natural beauty.

5. GOVT ANNOUNCES LUCKY GRAAHAK YOJANA FROM CHRISTMAS
i. The Government has announced to launch a 'Lucky Graahak Yojana' and 'Digi Dhan Yojana' to encourage digital payments.
ii. Schemes will begin from 25th Dec till April 14, 2017.
iii. 7,000 weekly awards and a maximum award of Rs 50,000 each for merchants will be awarded under Digi Dhan Vyapari Yojna.

1. INDO AND RUSSIAN BILATERAL NAVAL EXERCISE INDRA NAVY- 2016 BEGINS
i. The 9th edition of Indra Navy exercise between Indian Navy and Russian Navy began in the Bay of Bengal.
ii. This annual bilateral maritime exercise will continue till 21 December 2016.
iii. The main aim of this exercise is to enhance the interoperability between the two navies and develop the common understanding of maritime security operations.
iv. The first edition of this maritime exercise between India and Russia was first held in 2003.

2. ANDY MURRAY AND  ANGELIQUE KERBER NAMED ITF PLAYERS OF THE YEAR
i. Briton Andy Murray and Germany's Angelique Kerber were named ITF World Champions.
ii. Murray won Wimbledon in July and retained his crown in Rio de Janeiro in August.
iii. Kerber won the Australian and U.S. Open titles as well as an Olympic silver medal in Rio.

3. GUJARAT TO HAVE WAGAH-LIKE BORDER VIEWING POINT
i. The ever-popular ‘border viewing point’ of the Wagah border will soon be recreated in Gujarat’s Banaskantha district.
ii. The announcement was made by the state’s Chief Minister Vijay Rupani at the inaugural event of the annual ‘Rann-Utsav’ at Dhordo in the Rann of Kutch .
iii. The new viewing point will be opened at Nadabet near Suigam, a village near the India-Pakistan border.
 iv. The main purpose of the development is to promote tourism and all tourists visiting the centre will be provided with the same facilities that are made available at the Wagah Border.

4. PV SINDHU WINS MOST IMPROVED PLAYER AWARD
i. Rio Olympic silver medallist PV Sindhu has won the Badminton World Federation  2016 Most Improved Player of the Year award at the Players’ in Dubai.
ii. Pusarla Venkata Sindhu is an Indian professional badminton player. At the 2016 Rio Olympics, she became the first Indian woman to win an Olympic silver medal.

i. India and Indonesia have signed three agreements following delegation-level talks headed by PM Narendra Modi and visiting Indonesian President Joko Widodo.
ii. The agreements to boost the bilateral relations between the two nation.

2. ANTONIO GUTERRES SWORN IN AS UN SECRETARY-GENERAL
i. Antonio Guterres was sworn in as the ninth UN Secretary-General.
ii. He will succeed Ban Ki-moon as the ninth chief of the organisation
iii. President of the UN General Assembly Peter Thomson administered the Oath of Office to Guterres at a special plenary meeting of the 193-member General Assembly.

3. PUNJAB GOVT LAUNCHES COUNTRY'S 1ST AMPHIBIOUS BUS PROJECT
i. The Punjab government has launched country's first amphibious bus project at the Harike wetland near Amritsar.
ii. This amphibious bus project was launched by Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal.
iii. The project has cost the state government over Rs 11 crore.

4. VIVEK RAMASWAMY, APOORVA MEHTA INCLUDED IN FORBES' UNDER 40 RICH LIST
i. Two Indian-origin men have listed in Forbes magazine's second annual list of wealthiest entrepreneurs under the age of 40.
ii. The list is topped by Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg.
iii. Vivek Ramaswamy, a successful biotech entrepreneur has been ranked 24th and Apoorva Mehta stands at 31st spot.

2. PAOLO GENTILONI SWORN-IN AS ITALY'S NEW PM
i. Paolo Gentiloni has been elected as Italy's new Prime Minister.
ii. Gentiloni, who served as the Foreign Minister under Renzi, was asked by President Sergio Mattarella to form a new centre-left government that will guide Italy to elections due by February 2018.

3. IAMAI SETS UP COMMITTEE TO WORK ON FIGHTING ONLINE PIRACY
i. Internet and Mobile Association of India has constituted a committee to fight against the problem of online piracy and develop suitable business standards.
ii. Ajit Mohan of Hotstar will be the chairman of the committee.

4. WORLD'S LONGEST TUNNEL OPENS IN SWITZERLAND
i. The world’s longest tunnel, Gotthard Base Tunnel in Switzerland was opened for regular rail services.
ii. It will carry passengers under the Swiss Alps from Zurich to Lugano.
