1.      NATION CELEBRATES 127TH AMBEDKARJAYANTI
i. Nation remembers DrBhimraoRamjiAmbedkaron his 127th birth anniversary floral tributes were paid at Babasaheb’s Statue in the Parliament House Complex, New Delhi.
ii. DrBabasahebAmbedkar, the chief architect of the Constitution of India, was born on 14th April 1891 at Mhow in Madhya Pradesh, which is now known as DrAmbedkar Nagar.
iii. He was also the first law minister of India.
iv.Unified Payment Interface based app BHIM that was launched by PM Modi has been named after Bhim Rao Ambedkar.

2.      PM MODI LAUNCHES LARGEST HEALTH CARE SCHEME ON AMBEDKARJAYANTI
i. Prime Minister NarendraModi launched the phase one of the Ayushman Bharat schemes that aim at creating a healthy, prosperous and strong India on the occasion of Birth anniversary of Dr BR Ambedkar.
ii.The first phase of Ayushman Bharat will see 1.5 Lakh such Centers being set up across the country.
ii. The Prime Minister also launched Health and Wellness Centre under Ayushman Bharat scheme in Jangala village of Karnataka.

1.      UNION HOME MINISTER LAUNCHES E-FRRO SCHEME
Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh launched the web-based application ‘e-FRRO’(e-Foreigners Regional Registration Office).
i. Under the current system, foreigners staying in India on Visa duration of more than 180 days have to get themselves registered with their respective FRROs.
ii. Similarly, foreigners requiring different kind of visa related services such as Visa extension, Change of address, Visa Conversion, Change of Educational institutions, Exit permits etc. are currently required to visit the FRROs.
ii. By using e-FRRO application, foreigners in India would be able to get as many as 27 Visa and Immigration related services from the comfort of their place of stay, through email/post without appearing in person at the FRRO office.
iii. e-FRRO was introduced in four FRROs Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi and Mumbai.

2.      CHINA LAUNCHES CLOUD PLATFORM FOR ITS SCIENTISTS
China has introduced China Science and Technology Cloud  to provide scientists with accessible, accurate and secure data services to promote research and innovation.
i. China Science and Technology Cloud has been developed by the Computer Network Information Centre of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
ii. CSTC obtains data from the academy’s research institutes and major scientific installations, and many Chinese top universities and private innovation centres.

3.      RBI TIGHTENS REPORTING NORMS FOR LIBERALISED REMITTANCE SCHEME
Reserve Bank of India  issued a notification aimed at tightening reporting norms for the Liberalised Remittance Scheme .
i. Under LRS, all resident Indian individuals, including minors, are allowed to freely remit abroad, up to USD 250000 per financial year for any permissible current or capital account transaction or a combination of both.
ii. LRS scheme was introduced on February 4, 2004. At that time the limit was just USD 25000.
iii. However it was revised in a phased manner in line with prevailing macro and micro economic conditions and now stands at USD 250000 per financial year.
iii. Individuals can avail foreign exchange for this purposes within the limit of USD 250000 only, from Authorised Dealers/Banks.
iv.With a view to improve monitoring and also to ensure adherence to LRS limits, RBI has directed Authorised Dealers (ADs)/Banks to put in place a daily reporting system listing out all transactions undertaken by individuals under LRS.

4.      65TH NATIONAL FILM AWARDS ANNOUNCED, LATE VINODKHANNAHONOURED WITH DADA SAHEBPHALKE AWARD
The 65th National Film Awards was announced and late actor VinodKhanna was honoured with DadasahebPhalke Award posthumously.
. Late actress Sridevi has been honoured with the best actress award. The jury is headed by filmmaker ShekharKapur.

1.      ISRO LAUNCHES NAVIGATION SATELLITE IRNSS-1I
i. The Indian Space Research Organisation launched the Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System-1I, the eighth such satellite to be a part of a constellation.
ii.It was launched from the first launch pad at the SatishDhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
ii. IRNSS-1I is expected to replace IRNSS-1A, the first of the seven navigation satellites that was rendered ineffective after its three rubidium atomic clocks failed.

2.      FSSAI LAUNCHES INITIATIVE TO ADDRESS VITAMIN D DEFICIENCY
i. The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India  launched 'Project Dhoop', an initiative aimed at shifting the school assembly time to noon to ensure maximum absorption of Vitamin D in students through natural sunlight.
ii. The project was launched in New Delhi and saw the participation of around 600 students from NCERT, NDMC and North MCD Schools.
iii.The CEO of FSSAI is PawanAgarwal.

1.      RAHUL AWARE WINS INDIA'S 1ST WRESTLING GOLD
i. Rahul Aware bagged India's first wrestling gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2018 after beating Canada's Steven Takahashi in the final of men's Freestyle 57 kg event.
ii. Before the final, the 26-year-old had claimed two dominating victories with the scorelines 11-0 and 10-0, while he defeated Pakistan's Muhammad Bilal 12-8 in the semi-final.

2.      BALRAMBHARGAVA APPOINTED NEW DG OF ICMR
i. BalramBhargava has been appointed the new Director General of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and Secretary of the Department of Health Research.
ii. Bhargava, currently a senior consultant cardiologist at the All India Institute of Medical Science, will carry out this role until 2021.
iii. He will succeed SoumyaSwaminathan.

1.      PM MODI LAUNCHES INDIA'S 1ST ALL-ELECTRIC HIGH-SPEED TRAIN
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off India's first all-electric high-speed locomotive in Bihar.
ii. The first big Make-in-India project completed by France's Alstom, the train has the country's most powerful engine with 12,000 horsepower and a maximum speed of 120 km/hr.
iii. The average cost of one high-speed locomotive is around Rs25 crore.

2.      VP VENKAIAH NAIDU INAUGURATES SCIENTIFIC CONVENTION ON WORLD HOMEOPATHY DAY
i. Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu inaugurated a scientific convention on the World Homeopathy Day in New Delhi.
ii.The day is observed to commemorate the birth anniversary of Homoeopathy founder Dr Christian Friedrich Samuel Hahnemann on 10 April.
ii. The theme of the two-day convention is Innovate: Evolve, Progress: Exploring Science since 40 years.

3.      1ST NITI FORUM MEET AT AGARTALA
i. Tripura hosted the first meeting of the NITI Forum- a unit of NITI Aayog in Agartala.
ii. Chief Ministers of all Northeastern States, Minister of Development of North Eastern Region and senior officials of NITI Aayog and Union Government joined the conclave.
iii. The ‘NITI Forum for North East’ was constituted in February 2018 with an aim to ensure the sustainable economic growth of the North Eastern Region of the country.
iv.The meeting was chaired by the vice-chairman of the NITI Aayog, Rajeev Kumar.

1.      JITURAI AND MEHULIGHOSH BREAKS CWG RECORD
i. Jitu Rai broke the games record to claim the gold medal by some distance in men's 10m air pistol, at the ongoing 21st Commonwealth Games.
ii. OmPrakashMitharval bagged bronze in the same event.
iii. India's 17-year-old shooter MehuliGhosh set a Commonwealth Games joint record to win silver in the women's 10m Air Rifle event.
iv. India's 25-year-old shooter ApurviChandela won a bronze medal in the same event.

2.      INDIA WIN BADMINTON TEAM GOLD FOR 1ST TIME IN CWG HISTORY
i. India clinched their first-ever badminton mixed team event gold in Commonwealth Games history after defeating defending champions Malaysia 3-1 in the final at Gold Coast.
ii. India's previous best performance in mixed team event at CWG was a silver-medal finish in the 2010 edition.
iii.SainaNehwal and KidambiSrikanth represented India in singles' matches of the five-member team event.

1.      TN GOVT LAUNCHES MOBILE APP BI-LINGUAL 'UZHAVAN' FOR FARMERS
i. In a bid to use technology for farmers' benefit, Tamil Nadu government has come out with a mobile application named 'Uzhavan' (farmer) app.
 ii. The app can be used by farmers to get information on farm subsidies, book farm equipment and related infrastructure and get details on their crop insurance, besides receiving weather forecast for the next four days.

2.      PATNA TOPS IN 4G CONNECTIVITY AMONG 20 LARGEST CITIES: REPORT
i. Patna tops in 4G connectivity among 20 of India’s largest cities.
ii.It has emerged ahead of the likes of Bengaluru, Mumbai and Delhi, according to the report of OpenSignal, a wireless coverage mapping company.

3.      'GOBARDHANYOJANA' LAUNCHED TO SUPPORT FARMERS
i. The Haryana government has launched the 'GobardhanYojana' to provide for the sale of organic manure and cow urine with an aim to benefit farmers.
ii.A provision of Rs 11 crore has been made to provide benefits of various projects under this scheme.
ii. The GobardhanYojana would help in doubling the income of farmers and next time, the MSP would be given with additional benefit of 50% over the cost of production.

4.      IAF TO CONDUCT BIGGEST COMBAT EXERCISE ALONG PAKISTAN, CHINA BORDERS
i. The Indian Air Force is going to conduct its biggest ever combat exercise named Gagan Shakti, 2018 along Pakistan and China borders.
ii.The Air Force Chief, the Air Force will mobilise its assets in the war scenario within 48 hours of the orders.
ii.The indigenous Light Combat Aircraft Tejas will be taking part in the exercise for the first time and will perform both the offensive and defensive roles.

5.      CENTREGOVT WITH MAHARASHTRA GOVT& WORLD BANK SIGN 420 MILLION DOLLAR PROJECT
i. The Centre, Maharastra Government and the World Bank have signed a 420 million dollar project to help small and marginals farmers in the Marathwada and Vidarbha region of the state.
ii. The Maharashtra Project for Climate Resilient Agriculture will be implemented in rural areas largely dependent upon rain-fed agriculture.
iii. The project will take up a series of activities at the farm and watershed level.

1.      INDIA AND NEPAL AGREE TO STRENGTHEN BILATERAL RELATIONS IN KEY AREAS
i. India and Nepal have agreed to further strengthen bilateral relations in key areas of border security, connectivity, trade and agriculture.
ii.The two countries agreed to develop inland waterways for overall economic development of the region.
ii. Aiming to expand cross-border rail linkages, the two sides have also decided to construct a new electrified rail line, with India’s financial support.

2.      TRIPURA CM LAUNCHES STATE COMPONENT OF PMKVY
i. Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb launched the state component of Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojna in Agartala.
ii. He assured that the target to give training to more than 1 lakh 16,000 youths by 2020.
ii. Tripura is the first state in the North East to implement the state component of PMKVY through Directorate of Skill Development.

1.      PIYUSHGOYAL LAUNCHES UTTAM APP FOR COAL QUALITY MONITORING
The Union Minister for Railways and Coal ShriPiyushGoyal launched UTTAM App for Coal Quality Monitoring.
  UTTAM stands for – Unlocking Transparency by Third Party Assessment of Mined Coal .
UTTAM,aims to provide an App for all citizens and coal consumers to monitor the process of Third Party Sampling of coal across CIL subsidiaries.
UTTAM App ensures accountability, transparency, effectiveness and efficiency in coal ecosystem.
UTTAM is an example of leveraging technology to facilitate a bidirectional channel between Coal India Limited and a common citizen.

2.      PRIME MINISTER TO INAUGURATE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY FORUM IN NEW DELHI
India will host the 16th International Energy Forum Ministerial Meeting from 10-12th April 2018 in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will formally inaugurate the Meeting on 11th April 2018.
Petroleum Ministers from 42 countries would attend the Meeting.
The biennial IEF Ministerial Meetings are the world's largest gathering of Energy Ministers who engage in a dialogue on global energy issues.
The International Energy Forum (IEF) is an inter-governmental arrangement set up in 1991, based in Riyadh.

1.      CABINET APPROVES PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS (AMENDMENTS) BILL, 2018
i. The Union Cabinet has given its approval to the Protection of Human Rights (Amendments) Bill, 2018 for better protection and promotion of human rights in the country.
ii. It proposes to include “National Commission for Protection of Child Rights” as deemed Member of the Commission;
It proposes to add a woman Member in the composition of the Commission;
It proposes to enlarge the scope of eligibility and scope of selection of Chairperson, National Human Rights Commission as well as the State Human Rights Commission
