1.       Overall implementation of POSHAN Abhiyaan
ü  Andhra Pradesh (AP) ranked 1st in the country for overall implementation of POSHAN ( Prime Minister’s Overarching Scheme for Holistic Nourishment) Abhiyaan as per September 2019 progress report of NITI Aayog, “Transforming Nutrition in India: POSHAN Abhiyaan”.The 2nd anniversary of POSHAN Abhiyaan is recognized by celebrating Poshan Pakhwada from  8th-22nd March 2020.

2.       Gujarat tops in domestic solar rooftop installations
ü  Gujarat ranks first in the list for domestic solar rooftop installations, throughout the country with 64 percent of domestic solar installations.  Nearly 50,915 domestic solar rooftops have been fixed in the state of Gujarat with a capacity of 177.67 MW on 2nd March 2020.

3.       EIU’s Inclusive Internet Index 2020
ü  Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) released the 4th iteration of the Inclusive Internet Index 2020 for 100 countries where India is overall ranked  in 46th place & Sweden in 1st place. The index aims to measure the extent to which the Internet is not only accessible & affordable.

ü  CM Naveen Patnaik announced that Odisha is the 1st state to own a separate department for Self Help Groups named as ”Department of Mission Shakti”. It is created for the development of women & is dedicated to all the women of Odisha.

2.        ET global business summit 2020
ü  The 6th edition of Economic Times Global business summit held in New Delhi.
ü  The theme of the Global Business Summit is ‘Collaborate to Create: Sustainable Growth in a Fractured World’.EAM S Jaishankar conveyed that India has offered 300 Lines of credit(LoCs) to 64 countries which involves 539 development projects.

3.        Gender equality summit 2020
ü  UNGCNI (United Nations Global Compact Network India), a country level platform for public & private sector, businesses to align stakeholders’ responsible practices towards Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs),has organized the 3rd edition of its Gender Equality Summit 2020 with the theme “India Inc. For Generation Equality: Decade of Action” at The Park in New Delhi.

1.    Wealth Report 2020
According to the “Wealth Report 2020” released by  Knight Frank LLP,a leading International Property Consultant, India had 5,986 UHNWIs Ultra high-net-worth individuals (UHNWIs) in 2019 and they expected to increase by 73% in the coming 5 years.
India, according to Knight Frank, ranks 12th and had 5,986 such individuals in 2019, which is likely to reach 10,354 by 2024. The number of billionaires in India, on the other hand, is likely to reach 113 by 2024, up from 104 in 2019.

2.    BIMSTEC Summit 2020
5th edition of BIMSTEC (Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation) Summit 2020 to be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in the month of September 2020.
Sri Lanka is the Chair of BIMSTEC between 2018 and 2020 and it will hand over the chairmanship to Thailand by the end of 2020.

3.    Nasa’s named Mars 2020 rover
NASA announced the name of the 5th Mars (red planet) rover as Perseverance. Previously the rover was known by its codename as Mars 2020.
The rover has improved wheel design which is used to collect the samples from the martian rocks and helps scientists to determine about the ancient microbial life that existed in red planet.

1.    Maharashtra Government renamed Aurangabad Airport
ü  Aurangabad Airport renamed as Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Airport. The name of the airport has been renamed in order to honour Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, who was the son of Maratha warrior King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj.

2.    ICONSAT was held in Kolkata
ü  The International Conference on Nano Science and Technology 2020 (ICONSAT) was held at Biswa Bangla Conventional Centre, Kolkata. The event was supported by the Department of Science and Technology (DST) and organized by S.N. Bose National Centre for Basic Sciences, Kolkata.

3.    Freedom in the world 2020 report
ü  According to the ‘Freedom in the World 2020” report, which analyzes ​​democratic values ​​and people’s freedom in 195 countries & 15 territories, released by the Freedom House, a U.S (United States) -based watchdog that conducts research and advocacy on democracy, India has ranked 83rd  in the report along with Timor-Leste and Senegal in ‘Free’category. While, Finland topped the list as the free democratic country.

1.    SC allows trade in cryptocurrency
ü Supreme Court has lifted ban on trading in virtual currency, cryptocurrency and bitcoins by cancelling the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) 2018 circular that barred banks from serving companies dealing in cryptocurrency exchanges.
ü The plea was filed by Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) challenging RBI’s 2018 circular.

2.    QS World University Ranking 2020 by subject
ü According to the  Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings 2020 by Subject, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Bombay and IIT Delhi have made it to the top 50 institutes in the world for the category of  engineering and technology and ranked 44th and 47th respectively with a score of 81.9 and 81.4.
While, Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge,US (Unites States) ranked at top position.

3.    Slovenia new Prime Minister
ü Slovenia’s lawmakers have approved the Leader of Slovenian Democratic Party (SDS)Janez Jansa as Slovenia’s new Prime Minister. He will replace center-left Prime Minister Marjan Sarec, who resigned from his post in January 2020.

ü The central government has approved airlines companies operating in India to provide in-flight wi-fi services to its passengers upon permission from the pilot-in-command..According to the Vistara CEO Leslie Thng, the first Boeing 787-9 aircraft would be the first aircraft to provide Wi-Fi during flight in India.

2.    International food and hospitality fair ‘AAHAR 2020’
ü 35th edition of fair ‘AAHAR 2020’ has commenced in Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. It was inaugurated by Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal.This fair has been specially focused on promoting the agriculture-community as well as tourism sectors especially hospitality companies.

3.    World’s 1st nation to make all public transport free
ü In order to reduce traffic pressure on the road, Luxembourg, the 7th smallest country in Europe, has been made public transport free from February 292020. It became the first country in the world to do so.

ü The Indian Science Congress association (ISCA) announced that Pune will host the annual session of 108th Indian Science Congress in  2021 at Symbiosis International University’s Lavale campus with the theme,”Science and Technology for Sustainable Development with Women Empowerment”.

ü The President of Myanmar U Win Myint  paid a four days visit to India on the invitation of Indian President Ram Nath

3.    SBI switched to CBBA
ü SBI has switched to “Cash Budget Based Assessment (CBBA)” from “Projected Balance Sheet (PBS)” method of Fund Based Working Capital (FBWC) limits for assessment of the working capital requirement for corporates or large advances. CBBA of limits has been initiated for assessment of the FBWC limits for units with total FBWC exposure of more than ₹50 crore from the banking system. SBI has also started Risk Intel, an email service, advising the business units of rating actions in respect of units it has funded.

ü Pekka Lundmark appointed as CEO and he will take charge from September 1, 2020. He will be the successor of Rajeev Suri, who was more than a decade in charge of Nokia and Nokia Siemens Networks.

ü According to the 1st edition of  NCAER Land Records and Services Index (N-LRSI 2019-20) released by the National Council of Applied Economic Research (NCAER) , Madhya Pradesh (MP) emerged as the best performing state in terms of digitising land records with the score of 74.9.It was  followed by Odisha (67.5points) and Maharashtra (65.3 points).
ü While Union Territory (UT) of Ladakh ranked at bottom at 33rd position with a score of 2.0.

1.    1st State to achieve 100% LPG coverage
ü Himachal Pradesh became the 1st state in the country to have 100% LPG (Liquified Petroleum Gas) coverage due to the implementation of PMUY (Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana) scheme.Following the implementation of the PMUY scheme, the state government launched ‘Himachal Grihini Suvidha Yojana’ in May 2018 to cover the scheme to remaining households.

2.    Trophies for Republic Day Parade 2020
ü Defense Minister Rajnath Singh presented trophies to the best marching contingents for Republic Day Parade 2020 at Delhi.The Indian Air Force contingent named as the best among the three services. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) is named as the best marching contingent in the Central Armed Police Forces and other additional forces category.

3.    Mahathir Mohamad resigned as Malaysia’s PM
ü The world’s Oldest government leader Mahathir bin Mohamad (94) resigned as Malaysia’s PM. His resignation has been accepted by Malaysia’s king Al-Sultan Abdullah of Pahang and also named him as the Interim prime minister of Malaysia until a successor is appointed.

4.    Katherine Johnson passed away at 101
ü Famous NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson passed away at the age of 101 in Virginia, US (United States). She was born on August 26, 1918, White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, US. Her life was portrayed in the movie “Hidden Figures”.
