·         The event was organized by the Indo-German Energy Forum (IGEF).

·         Intersolar Europe 2022, the world’s leading exhibition for the solar industry, held at MesseMünchen exhibition centre, Munich, Germany

·         India is set to achieve net-zero by 2070 and install 500GW of non-fossil by 2030, the target set during COP-26.

·         India has achieved the target of 40% cumulative electric capacity from non-fossil fuel in 2021, 9 years ahead of the set target of 2030.

1.    NATIONAL FILM HERITAGE MISSION

·         Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting (I&B) Shri. Anurag Singh Thakur has announced the World’s largest film restoration project under National Film Heritage Mission (NFHM) with a budget of Rs.363 crores .

·         The restoration project is set to begin at National Film Archive of India (NFAI).

·         NFAI undertook the restoration of 10 prestigious Satyajit Ray films. Of which, Pratidwandi has been selected to premiere in the Cannes Classics section of the 2022 edition.

·         Films such as ‘Neelakuyil’ (Malayalam) and ‘Do AakheinBarahHaath’ (Hindi) will also be covered.

·         Restoration process includes The frame-to-frame digital and semi-automated manual picture and sound restoration from the best surviving source material.

1.       SOUTH KOREA, FIRST ASIAN COUNTRY JOINS IN NATO CYBER DEFENCE GROUP

·         South Korea became the first Asian country joins in North Atlantic Treaty Organization Cooperative Cyber Defence Centre of Excellence (NATO CCDCOE).

·         Now, the total NATO CCDCOE has 32 countries as its official members which includes 27 NATO member countries and 5 five non-NATO states as contributing participants.

·         South Korea has participated in the Locked Shields 2022, the largest and most complex annual international live-fire cyber defence exercise in the world.

·         The North Atlantic Treaty Organization, also called the North Atlantic Alliance, is an inter governmental military alliance between 30 member states – 28 European states.

1.       INDIA’S GETS ITS 1ST SEMI HIGH-SPEED REGIONAL TRAIN

·         India received its first semi high-speed regional train for the 1st phase of National Capital Region Transport Corporation’s (NCRTC) 82.5 km long Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS (Regional Rapid Transit System) line, from Alstom, a global leader in smart and sustainable mobility.

·         This train is 100% indigenous, in line with the government’s Make in India programme and Aatmanirbhar Bharat’s ambition.

·         It is designed at Alstom’s Hyderabad engineering centre and manufactured at Savli.

·         Its design is inspired by Delhi’s iconic Lotus Temple

 

2.       RAJASTHAN FIRST STATE TO CROSS 10 GW SOLAR PRODUCTION

·         According to Mercom’s India Solar Project Tracker, Rajasthan is fast emerging as the solar hub after becoming the first state in India to develop 10 Giga Watt (GW) or 10,506 MegaWatt (MW) Large Scale Solar Power generation out of total 49,346 MW of Solar power.

·         Of the 10,506 MW shared Solar – 9,542 MW is from ground-mounted solar, 668 MW is from rooftop Solar and 296 MW is from the off-grid Sector.

 

3.       GURUSWAMY KRISHNAMOORTHY TO RECEIVE BRITISH HONOUR ‘MBE’

·         Guruswamy Krishnamoorthy, CEO of Penlon, a world-class British medical technology firm, is likely to receive The Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (Civil Division) Award 2022 – Honorary Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) recognition from the Queen at Buckingham Palace, London, UK.

·         An MBE is the third highest ranked Order of the British Empire award (excluding a knighthood or damehood), after Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE), the highest award, and Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE), the second highest award.

·         The MBE is given in recognition of a great achievement or contribution to the community that has had a long-term, significant impact and serves as an example to others.

 

4.       ROMAIN ROLLAND BOOK PRIZE 2022

·         The fifth Romain Rolland Book Prize has been awarded to the Bengali translation of the French novel “Meursault, contre-enquête” (The Meursault Investigation).

·         Meursault, contre-enquête is the debut novel of Algerian writer and journalist Kamel Daoud.
The award was presented to translator Trinanjan Chakraborty

·         India is designated as the Guest of Honour Country at the Paris Book Festival 2022 at the Grand Palais Ephémère, Paris, France.

·         The Red Bull driver Max Verstappen (Belgian-Dutch), had won the first edition of the Formula 1(F1) 2022 Miami Grand Prix title, held at Miami International Autodrome in Miami Gardens, Florida, United States (US).

·         Verstappen defeated the Ferrari driver Charles Leclerc (Monacan)

 

7.       2022 MADRID OPEN TENNIS

·         Men’s Singles won by Carlos Alcaraz, Spanish Professional Tennis Player

·         Women’s Singles won by Tunisian Professional Tennis Player Ons Jabeur

·         Ons Jabeur was the first African,hailing from Tunisia and the first Arab woman to win a Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 event, Jabeur secured World No. 7 and became the first Arab player, male or female, to break into the world’s top 10.

·         The Madrid Open 2022 was held in Madrid, Spain.

 

8.       KHELO INDIA YOUTH GAMES-2021 MASCOT

·         Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur unveiled the mascot ‘Dhakad,’ as well as the official emblem and jersey of the Fourth Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2022 in Panchkula , Haryana.

·         Haryana is set to host the 4th edition of Khelo India Youth Games from June 4 to 13, 2022 in Panchkula.

 

9.       WORLD RED CROSS AND RED CRESCENT DAY 2022 – MAY 8

·         The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is annually observed across the globe on 8th May to celebrate the principles of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

·         The theme of 2022 World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day is “Be Human Kind”.

·         The day 8th May marks the birth anniversary of Jean Henry Dunant, the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC)

·         The first Nobel Peace Prize was jointly received by Jean Henry Dunant and Frédéric Passy.

11.    VIETNAM OPENS WORLD’S LARGEST GLASS BOTTOM BRIDGE

·         World’s Largest Glass Bottom Bridge was opened in Vietnam.It is called as Vietnam’s Bach Long pedestrian bridge ,which is 632m (2,073ft) long and located 150m (492ft) above a huge jungle.

·         It surpasses surpasses a 526m Glass Bottom Bridge in Guangdong, China.

12.    HDFC BANK LAUNCHES INDUSTRY FIRST DIGITAL NEW CAR LOAN – ‘XPRESS CAR LOAN’

·         HDFC Bank, a private sector lender, has introduced 30-minute ‘Xpress Car Loans’, an end-to-end digital new car loan solution for both existing and non customers.

·         As it has integrated its lending application with vehicle dealers across India, it anticipates 20%–30% of clients to use this loan facility of up to Rs. 20 lakhs

·         Currently, the facility is only available for four-wheelers, and it will be gradually extended to include two-wheeler loans.

13.    2022 PULITZER PRIZES

·         Four Indians – Adnan Abidi, SannaIrshad Mattoo, Amit Dave, and the late Danish Siddiqui of Reuters were awarded 2022 Pulitzer Prizes in Journalism under the Feature Photography category. 

·         The Washington Post has won the 2022 Pulitzer prize in Journalism under the Public Service category for its account of the assault on Washington on 6th January 2021. 

·         The Pulitzer Prize, is considered the most prestigious prize in US journalism which recognise the work in 15 journalism categories; seven arts categories and one special citation.

 

14.    LEGENDARY SANTOOR PLAYER PANDIT SHIV KUMAR SHARMA PASSED AWAY

·         Legendary musician and santoor player and Padma Awardee Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma has passed away in Mumbai, Maharashtra.

·         Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma is well known for his efforts in shifting the Santoor, a traditional instrument of Jammu & Kashmir, from an accompaniment and ensemble role in the Sufi music to a solo role in the Hindustani classical music.

·         In 1967, he collaborated with flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia and guitarist Brij Bhushan Kabra and produced the concept album “Call of the Valley”. 

·         Autobiography: Journey with a Hundred Strings: My Life in Music (2002).

·         The government of India has honoured him with Padma Shri in 1991 and Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian award, in 2001, for his contribution in the field of Arts. 

 

15.    BOOK “THE STRUGGLE FOR POLICE REFORMS IN INDIA”

·         Prakash Singh, a 1959 batch IPS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, is the Chairman of the Indian Police Foundation(IPF).

·         In accordance with the 13th Periodic Labour Force Survey (PLFS) by the National Statistical Office (NSO), the Unemployment Rate (UR) for persons of 15 years and above in urban areas dipped to 8.7% in October-December (Q3) 2021 from 10.3% in Q3-2020. 

·         It was 9.8% in July-September (Q2) 2021.

·         NSO works under the aegis of Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MOSPI)

·               The Government of Telangana in collaboration with the pharmaceuticals majors Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory and Laurus Labs along with academia has set up India’s first-of-its-kind Flow Chemistry Technology Hub (FCT Hub) at Dr. Reddy’s Institute of Life Sciences (DRILS) Hyderabad, Telangana.

·               Objective is To incorporate and promote efficient and sustainable technologies in the pharmaceutical sector.

 

2.             SKILL MINISTRY LAUNCHES ISRO TECHNICAL TRAINING PROGRAMME

·               The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) to upskill the technical staff at the Department of Space (DoS) in ISRO. It will be valid for a period of 5 years.

·               Under this, more than 4000 ISRO technical employees will be trained in the programme.

·               TheRailTel corporation provided the complete technological support for teleconsultation solutions for Mobile Container Hospital. It can also be operationalised on the wheels.

1.          INDIA’S FIRST INDIGENOUS AIRCRAFT CARRIER, INS VIKRANT

·            India’s First Indigenous Aircraft Carrier (IAC), Indian Navy Ship (INS) Vikrant will be delivered to the Indian Navy by May, 2022 and will be commissioned on (Independence Day) 15 August, 2022.

·            The IAC has been constructed by Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL). 

·            The IAC will use ski-jump technology for launching the aircraft from the carrier. It costs around Rs 23,000 crore.

·            Also, CSL has been declared as the lowest bidder for the New Generation Missile Vessel (NGMV) project.
