1.‘SIMBEX’ 2021 HELD IN SOUTH CHINA SEA

      28th Singapore-India Maritime Bilateral Exercise ‘SIMBEX-2021’ was held between the Indian Navy and Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) in the southern edge of the South China Sea.

      It was hosted by RSN as ‘at sea only’ i.e. without any physical interactions due to COVID-19.

 

2.OVL & IOC SIGNED MOU WITH RUSSIA’S GAZPROM

      PM Narendra Modi virtually addressed the plenary session of the 6th Eastern Economic Forum (EEF) i.e. the 2021 edition of EEF, which was held in Vladivostok, Russia.

      Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri led the Indian delegation of Indian oil and gas companies to have a 5-day visit to Russia.

      ONGC Videsh Ltd and the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), signed a MoU with Russia’s Gazprom for cooperation in the hydrocarbon sector.

      The MoU was signed at the 6th EEF.

1. MOU TO RECONSTRUCT PROJECTS DAMAGED BY 2015 EARTHQUAKE

      India and Nepal signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs ) for the reconstruction of 14 cultural heritage and 103 health sector projects across different districts of Nepal, which were damaged by the 2015 earthquake.

      The projects will be reconstructed at a cost of 420 crore Nepalese Rupees (~$36 million).

 

2.CYBER LAB FOR ONLINE CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME

      National e-Governance Division (NeGD ) under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology(MeitY ), Government of India has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with National Law University(NLU), Delhi and National Law Institute University (NLIU), Bhopal to establish a Cyber Lab for the “Online capacity building Programme on Cyber Law, Crime Investigation and Digital Forensics”.

      Goal: To enable Police Officers, State Cyber Cells, Law Enforcement Agencies, Prosecutors and Judicial Officers to acquire requisite skills to deal with Cyber Forensics cases efficiently & effectively as per the Indian Cyber Law while adopting global best practices, standards and guidelines.

 

3.APEDA SIGNS MOU WITH ICAR-IIMR TO BOOST EXPORT

      The Agricultural and Processed Food Product Export Development Authority (APEDA) has signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR)- Indian Institute of Millet Research(IIMR) to increase export production by increasing quality and processing.

      Objective:  To increase the export production with necessary links in supply chain, technical warehouses , clinical research and awareness.

1.DEVELOP PROTOTYPE OF ALUAV

      India’s Ministry of Defence has announced that it signed a Project Agreement (PA) with the United States (US) Department of Defence in July 2021, for co-development of Air-Launched Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (ALUAV), under the Joint Working Group Air Systems in the Defence Technology and Trade Initiative (DTTI).

 

2.MIB CONSTITUTES COMMITTEE UNDER ASHOK KUMAR TANDON

      Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) constituted a 11-member committee to review the existing guidelines of the Journalist Welfare Scheme (JWS).

      The Member of Prasar Bharati Board, Ashok Kumar Tandon, is named as its chairperson.

      The media domain has lost a large number of journalists due to COVID-19, therefore it is required to revise the quantum of ex-gratia payment in case of death as well as in other cases under the scheme.

1.‘CAPACITY BUILDING ON INTEGRATED RIVER BASIN MANAGEMENT”

      National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) & South Asian Institute for Advanced Research & Development (SAIARD) signed an Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)  for creating an academic platform for researchers and young minds and to boost Research and Developing capacity building hubs in the eastern region.

      The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG), under the Ministry of Jal Shakti, is a society registered on 12th August 2011 under the Societies Registration Act 1860.

 

2.125TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF SWAMI PRABHUPADA

      PM Narendra Modi virtually released a special issue of a Rs 125 commemorative coin on the occasion of the 125th birth anniversary of Swami Prabhupada, the Founder Acarya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness(ISKCON) which is popularly known as the Hare Krishna Movement.

      He was born on 1st September 1896 in Calcutta, British India.

      The commemorative coins of India can be purchased from the mint or from online platforms of the mints or Security Printing and Minting Corporation of India Limited (SPMCIL).

 

3.SOLUNG FESTIVAL OF ARUNACHAL PRADESH BEGINS

      Popular festival of the Adi Tribe of Arunachal Pradesh namely ‘Solung’ has began.

      Its celebrations will continue till 5 days.

      It is a harvest festival performed after sowing of seeds and transplantation, to seek for good crops.

1. INDIA’S 1ST INDIGENOUSLY DEVELOPED NADS

      The Indian Navy has signed a contract with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) for the manufacture and supply of India’s 1st indigenously developed Naval Anti Drone System (NADS) with both ‘hard kill’ and ‘soft kill capabilities.

      The NADS has been developed by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and manufactured by BEL.

 

2. AGRICULTURE EXPERTS OF BIMSTEC COUNTRIES 2021 MEETING

      India virtually hosted the 8th Meeting of Agriculture Experts of Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Countries 2021 Krishi Bhawan, New Delhi.

      The meeting was chaired by Dr Trilochan Mohapatra, Director General (DG) of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) and Secretary (Department of Agricultural Research-DARE).

 

3. WORLD’S LARGEST & TALLEST OBSERVATION WHEEL

      The World’s largest and tallest observation wheel named ‘Ain Dubai’ is set to be opened in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on 21st October 2021.

      The ain Dubai is located at Bluewaters Island.

      The Ain Dubai is around 2 times taller than the London Eye, which will take the visitors to a height of 250 meters.

 

4. INDIA’S GDP IN Q1 FY22 GROW BY 20.1%

      As per the data of the National Statistical Office (NSO), Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the first quarter of the financial year 2021-22 (Q1 FY22) (i.e. April to June 2021) grew by 20.1 percent as compared to a contraction of 24.4 (-24.4) percent in Q1 FY21.

      GDP at Constant Prices (2011-12): It is estimated at Rs 32.38 lakh crore in Q1 FY22, as against Rs 26.95 lakh crore in Q1 FY21 (a growth of 20.1 percent).

      Gross Value Added (GVA) at Constant Prices: It is estimated at Rs 30.48 lakh crore in Q1 FY22, as against Rs 25.66 lakh crore in Q1 of FY21 (a growth of 18.8 percent).

1.1ST LADAKH NOMADIC FESTIVAL INAUGURATED

      Lieutenant Governor(LG) Radha Krishna (RK) Mathur inaugurated a 2 day ‘ Ladakh Nomadic Festival’ in the region of Changthang at Korzok Phu, Ladakh.The event was organised by Ladakh Cultural Academy in association with the Department of Tourism.

      He admired the exquisite product – Pashmina,for which Changthang people are known around the world.

 

2.UNSC ADOPTS RESOLUTION ON AFGHANISTAN

      United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the 15-Nation body has adopted a strong resolution on Afghanistan under India’s Presidency.

      China & Russia abstained from voting on the resolution.

      The resolution demands not to use Afghan territory to threaten or attack any country or to shelter or train terrorists, or to plan or to finance terrorist acts.

      Also PM Narendra Modi has constituted a high-level group comprising External Affairs Minister (EAM) Jaishankar, National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval & Other Senior officials to monitor the ground situation in Afghanistan with a focus on India’s Immediate priorities.

 

3.PHONE PE – RECEIVED APPROVAL FROM RBI TO OPERATED AA

      PhonePe Account Aggregator Pvt Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the PhonePe Group, received in-principle approval from the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to operate as an Account Aggregator (AA) to share financial information.

      PhonePe has also received an insurance ‘broking licence’ from the Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India (IRDAI).

1.INDIA’S 1ST GREEN HYDROGEN ELECTROLYSER FACTORY

      Ohmium India Private Limited, a Subsidiary of Ohmium International Sets up Green Hydrogen Electrolyser manufacturing Gigafactory in Bengaluru, Karnataka.

      This is India’s 1st Green Hydrogen (H2) Electrolyser unit.

      The factory will produce Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) Hydrogen electrolysers.

      Green Hydrogen-Hydrogen produced by electrolysis using renewable energy or non- fossil sources.

      It has no carbon footprint.

      It is set to play a major role & build on the rapid increase of renewable resources across the world.

      Other types of Hydrogen are Brown Hydrogen (created through coal gasification), Blue Hydrogen (produced from Carbon Capture Usage & Storage), Grey Hydrogen (formed from splitting of Hydrogen & CO2)

 

2.PM DEDICATED ‘RENOVATED JALLIANWALA BAGH SMARAK’ TO NATION

      PM Narendra Modi virtually dedicated the renovated complex of Jallianwala Bagh Smarak at Amritsar in Punjab to the nation.

      PM also inaugurated the Museum Galleries at the Smarak.

      4 Museum galleries have been created through adaptive reuse of redundant and underutilised buildings.

      India decided to observe 14th August every year as ‘Partition Horrors Remembrance Day’.

      13th April 2021 marked the 102nd anniversary of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre.

 

3.MOCA NOTIFIES THE DRONE RULES, 2021

      The Ministry of Civil Aviation (MoCA) has notified the Drone Rules, 2021 replacing the Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) rules, 2021.

      Several approvals abolished: Unique Authorisation Number (UAN), Unique Prototype Identification Number, Certificate of manufacturing and Airworthiness, Certificate of conformance, Certificate of maintenance, Import clearance, etc has been abolished under the new rules.

      Total number of forms to be filled has been reduced from 25 to 5.

 

4.“VRIKSHAROPAN ABHIYAN – 2021”

      Pralhad Joshi, Minister of Coal virtually launched the “Vriksharopan Abhiyan – 2021” as a part of the Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav.

      Around 300 plantation sites around the coalfield across India will be connected through this Abhiyan.

      Vriksharopan Abhiyan – 2021 includes environmental sustainability in mining operations and enable the coal sector to obtain a social and environmental licence to operate.

      Under the “Go Greening” drive, coal Public sector undertakings(PSUs) of the Ministry of Coal has targeted to cover 2385 hectares of area under bio-reclamation/plantation.

 

5.INDIA’S EXPORT TO ASEAN

      The Union Minister of State(MoS) for Commerce and Industry Anupriya Patel inaugurated “India-ASEAN(Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Engineering Partnership Summit 2021’’ which was organised by Engineering Export Promotion Council (EEPC) in association with the Ministry of External Affairs and the Department of Commerce .

      The US 400 billion merchandise export target was announced in the budget of the financial year 2021-22.

      Focus areas- Industry 4.0, Integration of MSME(Micro Small and Medium Enterprises).

      The government of Tamil Nadu joined as a ‘Partner State’ while the Haryana government joined as the ‘Focus State’.

 

6.TOKYO 2020 SUMMER PARALYMPIC GAMES

      The 16th Edition of Paralympic Games is taking place in Tokyo, Japan from 24th August to 5th September, 2021.

      A total of 22 sports are scheduled. For the 1st time, Badminton and Taekwondo will be making their debut at the 2020 Paralympic Games by replacing Sailing & 7-a-side Football.

      The official Mascot is ‘Someity’

      The Paralympic Games symbol of the “Three Agitos” has been installed on a giant floating platform in the Tokyo Bay area.

      The 94-tonne steel monument stands 17.5 m tall, is 23.4 m long and 2m wide.

      Tek Chand (Shot put Thrower) was the flag-bearer of India in the opening ceremony of the Tokyo paralympics.

      Avani Lekhara wins Gold Medal in Shooting:Avani Lekhara  (Rajasthan) has won the Gold Medal in the Women’s 10 m Air Rifle Standing 1 (SH 1) Shooting event by scoring 249.6 in the final.

      Avani became the 1st Indian Woman to win a Gold Medal at the Paralympics & 4th Indian Gold medal at the Paralympics.

JAVELIN THROW:

i.Sumit Antil wins Gold Medal in Javelin Throw, F-46: Sumit Antil (Haryana) has won the Gold Medal in the Men’s Javelin Throw F-64 event by throwing a distance of 68.55 m in the finals.

ii.Devendra Jhajharia & Sundar Singh Gurjar wins SIlver & Bronze respectively in Javelin Throw, F-46

      Bhavinaben Patel wins Silver Medal in Table Tennis: Bhavinaben Patel (Gujarat) won the Silver Medal in the Women’s Singles Class 4  Table Tennis event by losing 7-11, 5-11, 6-11 in the finals.

 

7.BELGIAN GRAND PRIX, 2021

      Red Bull driver Max Verstappen (Netherland) has been declared the winner of the Belgian Grand Prix (GP), 2021.

      It was the Shortest ever Grand Prix in terms of distance Completed.

 

8.NATIONAL SPORTS DAY 2021 – AUGUST 29

      National Sports Day is annually observed across India on 29th August to commemorate the birth anniversary of Olympian and Indian Hockey legend, Major Dhyan Chand, who is popularly known as the “Hockey Wizard” and “the Magician”.

      On the occasion of the National Sports Day 2021, Union Minister Youth Affairs and Sports Anurag Singh Thakur launched the Fit India Mobile app, India’s most comprehensive fitness app, at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, Delhi.

 

9.INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST NUCLEAR TESTS 2021

      The United Nations(UN)’s International Day against Nuclear Tests is annually observed across the globe on 29th August to create awareness about the hazards of testing nuclear weapons or other nuclear explosions and the need to end nuclear tests and achieve a nuclear-weapon-free world.

 

10.NATIONAL SMALL INDUSTRY DAY 2021 – AUGUST 30

1.MDS TO SUPPLY ANTI-SUBMARINE SYSTEMS

      The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has approved contracts worth INR 1349.95 crore to Mahindra Defence Systems Limited (MDS), a group firm of Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd, for supplying 14 Integrated Anti-submarine warfare Defence Suite (IADS) to the warships of the Indian Navy.

      It is the 1st of its kind technology developed by an Indian company.

 

2.COMMITTEE TO STREAMLINE REVENUE LITIGATION

      The Central Government has constituted a committee headed by Ashish Shiradhonkar, heads e-courts project in National Informatics Centre (NIC), to develop a technological platform streamlining the appeal filing process related to direct and indirect taxation matters.

      The committee will comprise representatives of NIC, law ministry, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), Central Board of Indirect Taxes (CBIT), and the Department of Revenue, Ministry of Finance.

 

3.STADIUM NAMED AFTER NEERAJ CHOPRA

      Minister of Defence, Rajnath Singh renamed Army Sports Institute stadium of Army Sport Institute (ASI), Pune as “Neeraj Chopra Stadium”,after the Olympic Gold Medalist Neeraj Chopra.

      The inauguration ceremony was held in the presence of Army Chief General MM Naravane and Neeraj Chopra.

 

4.BRICS AGRICULTURE MINISTERS MEETING, 2021

      Union Minister for Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, Narendra Singh Tomar has chaired 11th BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China & South Africa) Agriculture Ministers meeting virtually.

      The theme of the meeting was “BRICS Partnership for Strengthening Agro Biodiversity for Food and Nutrition Security”.

      BRICS Agriculture Research Platform (BARP) created to enhance agricultural cooperation among BRICS countries

2. ‘WEP NXT’ TO BOOST WOMEN ENTREPRENEURSHIP IN INDIA

      NITI Aayog launched the next phase of its flagship platform Women Entrepreneurship Platform (WEP) titled ‘WEP Nxt’ in partnership with Cisco.

      Under this, Cisco’s technology and experience of working with India’s startups will be utilized to foster women entrepreneurship in India.

 

3. BRICS FINANCE MINISTERS, CENTRAL BANK GOVERNORS MEETING

      Finance Minister(FM) of India, Nirmala Sitharaman chaired the 2nd meeting of BRICS(Brazil,Russia,India,China,and South Africa) Finance Ministers and Central Bank Governors (FMCBG) along with the Reserve Bank of India(RBI) Governor Shaktikanta Das under the Indian BRICS chairmanship.

 

4. THE GLOBAL ECONOMY BY 2030 WEF- KEARNEY REPORT

      Kearney in association with WEF(World Economic Forum) released a report titled,   ‘Shifting Global Value Chains: the India Opportunity’ states that Coordinated action between the government and the private sector can help create globally competitive manufacturing companies in the country.

      Manufacturing sector’s share towards India’s GDP in 2030 could potentially reach 19-20%.

 

5. G20 MINISTERIAL CONFERENCE ON WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT

      Italy (2021 G20 Presidency) hosted the first-ever G20 Ministerial conference on Women’s Empowerment at Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy in Hybrid format.

      Smriti Irani, Union Minister of Women and Child Development(WCD), Government of India virtually represented India and addressed the G20 Ministerial Conference on Women’s Empowerment.

 

6. CHAIRPERSON OF STOP TB PARTNERSHIP BOARD

      Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare has taken charge as the Chairperson of the Board of Stop TB partnership.

      He will hold the responsibility of the chairman of the board with immediate effect until 2024.

      He took over the responsibility from Dr Harsh Vardhan, former Union Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India.

      The World Athletics Under20 Championships, 2021 held in the city of Nairobi, Kenya.

      The tournament was held from 18th-22nd August, 2021.

      Bollywood Actor, Sonu Sonu will be appointed as  brand ambassador of the programme of Delhi Government ‘’Desh Ke Mentor” by the Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal.

      It’s a mentorship programme where around 3 lakh experts and professionals will guide the 10 lakh Delhi government school students.

1. COUNTER TERRORISM EXERCISE ‘GANDIV’ CONDUCTED

      The 3rd Edition of the annual Counter Terrorism Exercise named ‘Gandiv’ is being conducted by the National Security Guard (NSG) across National Capital Region (NCR), Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh & Gujarat.

      NSG founded in September 1986.

      It is an Elite Counter-terrorism unit functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

 

2. GOI LAUNCHES SAMRIDH PROGRAMME

      Government of India (GoI) has launched the Startup Accelerator of Meity for Product Innovation, Development & Growth (SAMRIDH) programme to support 300 Information Technology (IT) enabled Startups for a period of 6 months.

      It aims to create 100 unicorns out of the selected IT Startups by  providing Seed funding, Mentorship and Market access.

      The programme has been modelled on the basis of Ycombinator, one of the successful startup accelerator programmes started in the United States.

 

3. WORLD’S 1ST FOSSIL-FREE STEEL TO VOLVO AB

      Sweden’s green steel venture HYBRIT had made the world’s first customer delivery of steel produced without using coal and coke, to its truck-manufacturer Volvo AB (Aktiebolaget Volvo) as a trial run.

      This steel is produced with 100% fossil-free hydrogen.

      HYBRIT stands for Hydrogen Breakthrough Ironmaking Technology.

      This was the raw material used to manufacture the so-called ‘green steel.

 

4. SAFE CITIES INDEX 2021

      The Capital City and Financial Capital City of India i.e. New Delhi and Mumbai respectively have found place in 4th Safe Cities Index 2021 of 60 global cities, released by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) sponsored by NEC.

      The index report is titled as ‘Safe Cities Index 2021- New expectations demand a new coherence’.

 

5.1ST INDIAN RENEWABLE ENERGY COMPANY TO LIST ON NASDAQ

      ReNew Power, India’s largest renewable energy company, has become the first Indian renewable energy company to get listed on the NASDAQ, an American stock exchange based in New York, USA.

      ReNew Power has been listed on the NASDAQ following the merger with RMG Acquisition Corporation II (RMG II), a Nasdaq-listed special purpose acquisition company (SPAC).

      The merged company has been named ReNew Energy Global Plc.

 

6. BPCL LAUNCHED AI-ENABLED CHATBOT ‘URJA’

      Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL) launched a virtual assistant named ‘Urja’ with AI/NLP (Artificial Intelligence/Natural Language Processing) technology.

      It is trained on more than 600 use cases.

      Urja speaks in 13 languages (English, Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Oriya, Bengali, Punjabi, Urdu and Assamese).

 

7. SAHITYA AKADEMI AWARDS 2020

      The Sahitya Akademi has announced the winners of the Sahitya Akademi Awards 2020 for Odia and Malayalam.

      Yashodhara Mishra and Omcherry NN Pillai have been declared as the winners of the 2020 Sahitya Akademi Awards for Odia and Malayalam respectively.

      Yashodhara Mishra has been awarded for her book titled “Samudrakula Ghara”.

      Omcherry NN Pillai has been awarded for his memoir titled “Akasmikam: Omcheriyute Ormmakkurippukal”.

 

8. RBI APPROVES REAPPOINTMENT OF MD& CEO OF ICICI BANK

      The Reserve Bank of India(RBI) has approved the reappointment of Sandeep Bakhshi as the Managing Director(MD) and Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of ICICI Bank with effect from 15th October 2021 to 3rd October 2023.

 

9. PAKISTAN SUCCESSFULLY TESTFIRES ‘FATAH-1’

      Pakistan has successfully test-fired Fatah-1, an Indigenously developed Guided Multi Launch Rocket System (MLRS) which has the capability of precision target engagement deep into the enemy territories

      It is capable of carrying conventional warheads & has a range of 140 km.

 

10. INDIAN ARMY RECEIVES 1ST BATCH OF MMHG

      Indian Army received the delivery of 1st batch of Multi-Mode Hand Grenade (MMHG) manufactured by Nagpur based private company Economic Explosives Limited (EEL).

      MMHG has been designed by Chandigarh based Terminal Ballistic Research Laboratories (TBRL) of the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) & is manufactured by EEL, Nagpur.

      In October 2020, Ministry of Defence (MoD) has signed a contract with EEL for supply of 10 lakh MMHG to Indian Army at cost of around INR 409 crore

 

11. ‘SUJALAM’ , A 100 DAYS ODF PLUS CAMPAIGN

      The Ministry of Jal Shakti has launched a 100 Days campaign – ‘SUJALAM’ as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations to achieve Open Defecation Free (ODF) Plus Status in villages across the country by undertaking waste water management at the village level.

      It aims to create 1 million Soak-pits & other grey water management activities in the villages.

 

12. US-INDIA CLIMATE TECHNOLOGIES ACTION GROUP         

      The United States (US) Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) and the US India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) launched the US-India Climate Technologies Action Group (CTAG) which aims to integrate private and public sector inputs on a concrete initiative that can contribute to advanced global action on climate.

 

13. INDIA-ISA ENERGY TRANSITION DIALOGUE, 2021

      India-International Solar Alliance (ISA) Energy Transition Dialogue, 2021 held on August 24th, 2021 virtually.

      R K Singh, Union Minister of Power, New & Renewable Energy has highlighted that India’s Emissions have reduced about 28% from 2005 levels, against the target of 35% by 2030 in India’s Intended Nationally Determined Contributions (INDC) at the Paris Agreement, 2015.

      Currently, 38.5% of India’s Installed power generation capacity is from clean Renewable energy sources when 46 GW of hydropower is included.

      It is expected by 2050, 80-85% of India’s overall power capacity will come from Renewables.

      Target by 2030: India plans to have 450GW of Renewable energy capacity by 2030

 

14. 25TH EDITION OF ‘EXERCISE MALABAR’

      The 25th Edition of Naval Exercise Malabar is conducted between the India Navy, the United States (US) Navy, Japanese Maritime Self Defence Force (JMSDF) & the Royal Australian Navy (RAF) in the Western Pacific Ocean.

      The exercise is hosted by the US Navy from 26th-29th August, 2021.

 

15. INDIA EXTENDS USD 1 MILLION AID TO ZIMBABWE

      The government of India provides USD 1 million aid to Zimbabwe under United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).

      This aid will help to tackle affected populations due to climate shocks.

      It will help in climate resilient agriculture in Zimbabwe.

 

16. PAWANDEEP RAJAN APPOINTED AS UTTARAKHAND’S BRAND AMBASSADOR

      Pushkar Singh Dhami, Chief Minister(CM) of Uttarakhand, has announced that Pawandeep Rajan, winner of the Indian Idol Season 12(2021), a music reality show, has been appointed as the brand ambassador of Uttarakhand’s art, tourism and culture.

 

17. 2021 ITTF CZECH INTERNATIONAL OPEN

      Indian Table Tennis Player Sathiyan Gnanasekaran won the 2021 International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) Czech International Open.

      Sathiyan beat Yevhen Ryshchepa of Ukraine in the finals in straight sets 11-9, 11-6, 11-6, 14-12. He did not lose a single set throughout the tournament.

 

18. TED DEXTER PASSES AWAY

      Former England Cricket team Captain & Journalist Ted Dexter passed away at 86 due to illness in Wolverhampton, England.

      He was instrumental in devising the players ranking system that was later adopted by the ICC and is currently known as the ICC Player Rankings.
