1) RUTH PORAT BECOMES NEW CFO OF GOOGLE INC:
Ø  Google Inc has appointed Ruth Porat to be the new Chief Financial Officer.
Ø  Ruth Porat will succeed Patrick Pichette who announced his retirement.
Ø  Currently Ruth Porat is working as CFO at Morgan Stanlay.

2)  EIH APPOINTED NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR:
Ø  Vikramjit Singh Oberoi is appointed as the new Managing Director of EIH ltd.
Ø  Vikramjit Singh Oberoi will succeed Shib Shanker Mukherjee.
Ø  Currently Vikram Oberoi is a joint MD and COO (Chief Operating Officer).
Note: EIH limited runs the Oberoi hotels under the aegis of the Oberoi group.

3)   MAHARASHTRA GETS RS 2000 CRORE FROM CENTRE:
Ø  Union Government has sanctioned 2000 crore rupees for drought hit districts of Maharashtra.
Ø  The high level committee(HLC) of the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has sanctioned 2000 crore rupees to Maharashtra under NDRF.
Ø  HLC comprised of Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Finance Minister Arun Jatley and Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh.

Ø  Dolly Shivani cherukuri shot 36 arrows each from 5 mtrs and 7 mtrs to score 388 points.

·         She was 9 days less than three years at the time of entering the India Book of Records.

5)  3 ISVs COMMISSIONED IN VISHAKHAPATNAM:
Ø  Indian Navy has commissioned 3 immediate Support Vessels (ISVs) in Vishakhapatnam.

Ø  Vice Admiral Satish Soni commissioned three ISV’s comprising T-38, T-39  and T-40 at the Vishakhapatnam Naval Dockyard in Andhra Pradesh.

1.    MADHAV GADGIL AND DR. JANE LUBCHENCO WON TYLER PRIZE 2015:
Ø Indian ecologist Madhav Gadgil and US Scientist Dr. Jane Lubchenco won Tyler prize for Environmental Achievement 2015.
Ø Madhav Gadgil is the second Indian to bag this award after MS Swaminathan in 1991.
NOTE: - The Tyler prize was instituted in 1973 by the International Tyler Prize Executive committee with the administrative support of University of southern California. Tyler awardee gets a gold medallion and receives a $ 200,000 annual cash prize.

2.  WORLD TB DAY WAS OBSERVED ON 24TH MARCH:
Ø World Tuberculosis Day 2015 was observed globally on 24th March.
Ø The theme for the WTB Day 2015 is continuation of the 2014 theme ‘ Reach the 3 million’
Ø World Tuberculosis Day is celebrated on 24th March every year because Dr. Robert Koch discovered the cause of TB on this day in 1882.

5.          150 DEAD AS PLANE CRASHES IN FRENCH ALPS:
Ø  German Airbus A320 plane crashes in French Alps.
Ø  Lufthansa’s German wings budget Airlines flight 4U 9525 from Barcelona to Duesseldorf went down in Southern France.
Ø  No survivor is reported, all 150 passengers and staff are declared dead which includes 67 germans, 45 sapnish and 16 school children.

6.             RAILWAY LAUNCHES RU-PAY CARD:
Ø  Indian Railways launched Ru-pay pre-paid Debit cards.
Ø  IRCTC has launched this card for its customers which enables them to book their tickets, do shopping and pay service bills.
Ø  IRCTC has developed the card in collaboration with the Union Bank of India.
NOTE: - For booking a ticket through this card, a transaction fee of Rs. 10 will be charged.
          IRCTC: Indian railway catering and Tourism Corporation.
