1. WORLD HEMOPHILIA DAY OBSERVED GLOBALLY:
. World Hemophilia Day was observed around the globe on 17th April 2015.
. World Hemophilia Day was observed with the theme, “Building a family of support”.
. World Hemophilia Day was established in 1989 with the support of the World federation of Hemophilia (WFH) on 17th April every year to hounour Frank Schnabel
NOTE: Haemophilia is derived from two Greek Words – ‘Haima’ means blood and ‘philia’ means affection.
. Frank Schnabel is the founder of World Federation of Hemophilia (WFH).

2.   TIME MAGAZINE HAS RELEASED A LIST OF 100 MOST INFLUENCED PEOPLE IN THE WORLD:
. Time Magazine has released a list of 100 most influential people in the world.
. American Rapper and Singer Kanye Omari West topped the list.
. Malala yousafzai, a Pakistani Education activist is the youngest person on the list for third time in a row.
. Time Magazine list of 100 most influential people in the world includes 4 Indians, Narendra Modi, chanda Kochar, Satya Nadela and Vikram Patel.

1.      SURANTA LAHIRI AND KATTESH V KATTI RECEIVED HEVESY MEDAL AWARD 2015:
. Chemical Scientist susanta Lahiri and Kattesh V Katti are honoured with Heavesy Medal Award 2015.
.    The Award were presented at the 10th International conference on Methods and Applications of Radio-Analytical Chemical held in USA.
. Susanta Lahiri won the award for his contributions to heavy ion induced radioisotope production, converter targets, Green Chemical and Tracer packet technique. He is a professor at Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics in Kolkata.
. Katesh V. Katti is a professor in University of Missouri in Columbia, USA.

2.      JAMAL BENOMAR RESIGNED:
. United Nations peace envoy to Yemen, Jamal Benomar Resigned.
. His regination came after Saudi –led coalition launched an air war to stop the advance by the Shiite Houthis.

3.   PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI VISIT TO CANADA:
. India and Canada signed Nuclear Agreement on Supply of Uranium.
. Indian PM Narendra Modi and Canadian PM Stephen Harper signed the agreement for supply of Uranium to India.
.  Canadian PM also returned 900 years old ancient sculpture from Khajuraho temple known as ‘parrot lady’ to Narendra Modi.

4. DR MOHAN KUMAR APPOINTED AS AMBASSADOR TO FRANCE:
. Dr. Mohan Kumar is appointed as the next ambassador of India to France.
.  Dr. Mohan Kumar has succeeded Arun Kumar.
. Dr. Mohan Kumar is a 1981-batch Indian Foreign Service (IFS) officer.
Note:
·         Prior to this, Dr. Mohan Kumar was serving as Ambassador of India to Bahrain
·         Arun Kumar is appointed as Ambassador to USA.
5. AGNI-III SUCCESSFULLY TEST-FIRED:
. India has successfully test fired its Agni-III ballistic missile from wheeler Island off the Odisha coast in the Bay of Bengal.
. Agni-III is a surface-to-surface ballistic missile with a range of more than 3000 km.
. Test fire was conducted from a mobile launcher by the strategic force command (SFC).

6. BHEL SIGNED AN MOU WITH RUSSIAN FIRM INTMA:
. Bharat heavy electrical limited of India and Russian firm INTMA have signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
. MoU was signed to set up a gas –based power project in Kazakhstan.

7. SATYA PAL JAIN APPOINTED AS ADDITIONAL SOLICITOR GENERAL:
. Satya Pal Jain is appointed as the new additional Solicitor General of India.
. Satya Pal Jain is former Chandigarh MP and a Senior Advocate.
C. Satya Pal Jain is appointed as Additional Solicitor General of India in Punjab and Haryana High Court for three years.

8. 3-MEMBER PANEL TO PROBE CHARGES AGAINST HC JUDGE:
. Vice-President Hamid Ansari has set up a 3-member panel to probe charges against Madhya Pradesh High Court Judge.
. Madhya Pradesh High Court Judge SK Gangele is under scrutiny for sexual harassment charges.
. 3-member committee is to be headed by Supreme Court Judge Vikramjit Sen.

1. MIGRATION AND DEVELOPMENT BRIEF RELEASED BY WORLD BANK:
.    World Bank bas released migration and Development brief for the year 2014.
.    Top 5 remittance recipient countries are India, China, Philippines, Mexico and Nigeria.
.    Top 5 migrant destination countries are United States, Saudi Arabia, Germany, Russia and UAE.
Note: India is the highest recipient of remittance.

2.   SAUTH ASIA ECONOMIC FOCUS REPORT:
.    World Bank has released South Asia Economic Focus Report.
.    The report has projected the economic growth of South Asia for the year 2016 and 2017.
.    According to the report, economic growth will increase from 7 % in the year 2015 to 7.6 % in the year 2017.

3.   GERMAN NOVELIST GUNTER GRASS DIED:
.    Nobel Laureate German Novelist Gunter Grass died at the age of 87.
.    Gunter Grass was honoured with Nobel prize in Literature in the year 1999.
.    Gunter Grass mainly focused on Nagi era, the horrors of the war and the destruction and guilt that remained after defeat of Germany in his writings.

4. OVER HUNDRED PEOPLE DIED IN THAILAND:
.    Over hundred people were killed in Songkran festival in Thailand.
.    It is reported that nearly 120 people were killed and 1281 injured.
.    Songkran festival is a traditional new year eve celebration of Thailand which is also known as Thailand water festival.

5. UNION GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTED TASK FORCE:
.    Union Government has constituted Task Force on Interlinking of rivers.
.    Union Ministry of Water Resources, River development and Ganga Rejuvenation constituted the task force.
.    Ex- UPSC member and advisor to the Gujarat Chief Minister, BN Navalawala will chair the task force.

6.   ARUN JATLEY INAUGURATED VIVIDH BHARTI SERVICE:
.    Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley inaugurated Vividh Bharti Service of Delhi on FM Mode.
.    Arun Jaitley also holds the port folio of Information and Broadcasting minister.
.    The service will be available on 100.1 mega hertz frequency.

7.   BHEL COMMISSIONED THEMAL UNIT AT DHOBRA:
.    BHEL commissioned 600 MW thermal unit at Dhobra in Chhattisgarh.
.    This is the second unit of 2 x 600 MW power project commissioned by BHEL while the first one was commissioned in 2014.
.    BHEL is state owned power equipment founded in 1964 and got Maharatna Status in the year 2013.

9.   NEW ZEALAND WON SULTAN AZLAN SHAH CUP:
.    New Zealand has won Sultan Azlan Shah cup men’s hockey tournament.
.    New Zealand defeated Australia in the final of the Azlan Shah cup.

.    This is New Zealand’s second title. Their first title came in the year 2012 where they defeated Afghanistan in the final clash.
