1.  SACHIN TENDULKAR TO BE THE CAPTAIN OF ‘GREEN ARMY’
i. Sachin Tendulkar is to be the Captain of Maharashtra’s Green Army Chief.
ii. He will promote the cause of Environment in Maharashtra.
Green Army is an initiative for school children by the state government of Maharashtra. Every school will nominate its 10 students to undertake various projects for environment conservation in their respective areas.

2.  GIRISH SAHNI IS NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL OF CSIR
i. Girish Sahni is appointed as new director General of Council of Scientific and Industrial Research.
ii. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research is an India’s largest Research and Development Organization.
    It was established in 1942

3.  ‘SCHOOL SPORTS PROMOTION FOUNDATION’ LAUNCHED BY SAI
i. Sports Authority of India has launched School Sports Promotion foundation to promote  sports talent in schools.
ii. This foundation will organize sports tournaments across the country.
iii. It will also provide sports coaching to talented students.

4. BRIDGE PROGRAME OF AUSTRALIA EXTENDED TO NAVODAYA SCHOOLS
i. Australia-India partnership programme Building Regional Inter Cultural Dialogue and growing engagement(BRIDGE)- The programme is run by Australian schools in collaboration with Indian Schools, now it has agreed to include Jawar Navodaya Vidyalayas under this programme earlier only private schools were part of this programme.
ii. The project is started to improve teacher capability in science and technology engineering , Mathematics and Communication ,Technologies etc.

5.  NOVAK DJOKOVIC APPOINTED GOODWILL AMBASSADOR OF UNICEF:
i. World’s no.1 Tennis Player Novak Djokovic is appointed as Goodwill ambassador of UNICEF.
ii. He also signed memorandum of Understanding to promote early childhood development

i) UNICEF- United Nation Children’s Fund
ii) HQ- New York, US
iii) UNICEF- provides long term humanitarian and development assistance to children and mothers in developing countries.

2. ‘SEHAT’ LAUNCHED BY UNION GOVERNMENT

iii.  SEHAT is launched in collaboration with appolo hospital
iv.  SEHAT will provide health consultation on Tele communication and through Video Link

4. INDIA TO EXECUTE ‘SENDAI FRAMEWORK FOR DISASTER REDUCTION ‘
i.  Union Government has announced to execute the Sendai Framework for Disaster Reduction 2015-2030 in letter and spirit.
ii.  The Sendai framework for disaster Risk reduction 2015-2030 was adopted during the third UN world Conference on disaster risk reduction held in Sendai, Japan in march 2015.
The Sendai framework: It is a 15 year Voluntary non binding agreement which recognizes that the state has the primary role to reduce disaster risk but that responsibility should be shared with other stakeholders including local government, the private sector and other stakeholders.

1.  TATA SIGNED MOU TO DEVELOP ANDRA PRADESH’S VILLAGES
i.  Tata trust has signed Memorandum of Understanding with Andhra Pradesh government to develop 264 villages as ‘Smart Villages’
ii.  Tata trust has taken this project as Corporate Social Responsibility
iii.  Tata trust will work in the areas of education, health and nutrition, self employment for youth, fisheries, drinking water etc.

2. POSTAL STAMP ON ‘ASHOKA’ RELEASED BY UNION GOVERNMENT
i.   Union Government has released postal stamp on emperor Ashoka and it was released by union Telecom minister Ravi Shankar.
ii.  Postal stamp of Rs 5 is released on the birth anniversary of Ashoka
iii.  Ashoka was an Indian Emperor of Maurya Dynasty who ruled India between 269 BC to 232 BC

3.  AMOL PALEKAR NEW CHAIRMAN OF INDIA’S OSCAR JURY
i.   Actor and Director Amol Palekar is appointed as new Chairman of India’s Oscar Jury.
ii.  He will head the 17 member Jury for Selecting Indian movies to enter the best foreign film category of Oscar Awards.
Oscar awards are given by America Annually for honoring achievements in film industry .It is presented by Academy of Motion Picture arts and Science.

4. KUMAR SANGAKARA RETIRED FROM INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
i.  Sri Lankan cricketer Kumar Sangakara announced his retirement from International cricket
ii.  Kumar Sangakara had already taken retirement from Twenty-20 cricket and one day international
iii.  In 2015 he became 1st batsman to score hundreds in 3 consecutive world cups.

5.  UNFCCC AND MSSRF TO WORK FOR CONSERVATION OF COASTAL RESOURCES IN ANDHRA PRADESH
i.   United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and MS Swminathan Research Foundation have agreed to work together for the conservation of coastal resources in Andhra Pradesh.
ii.  They will work to Restore the Sorlagond mangrove forest cover in Krishna District
iii.  They will work to improve fish cultivation for landless families.

i.   Gujarat has became 1st state in India to start ‘Agro solar policy’ to encourage farmers to utilize solar energy.
ii.  The policy will encourage farmers in the state to tap free solar energy from sun , which will in turn help them to earn additional income from power generation companies.
4. ‘BANDHAN’ 1ST MICRO FINANCE COMPANY TO START OPERATION AS COMMERCIAL BANK
i.  Bandhan Bank has become the first micro finance company in India to start operation as scheduled bank.
ii.  Bandhan Bank has Started working in Kolkata.
iii.  It has received in principle approval from RBI on June 2015.
iv.  Earlier it  started as Not for profit micro finance enterprise in 2001.

ii.  It is the first time that availability of neon gas is found on moon’s atmosphere

1.  BANGLADESH 1ST COUNTRY TO GET FUNDS FROM UNITED NATIONS FOR SOLAR HOME SYSTEMS
i. Bangladesh is the first country in world to receive the 3.56 million US dollar from United Nations for Solar home system to maximize the use of solar energy at homes.
ii. The fund will be given by United Nations frame work convention for climate change (UNFCC) to Bangladesh’s two companies. Infrastructure development company ltd and Grameen Shakti.

4. CONVERSION OF URBAN CO-OPERTIVE BANKS INTO REGULAR BANKS RECOMMENDED BY R.GANDHI
i.  The high powered committee of RBI headed by RBI deputy governor R.Gandhi has recommended conversion of Urban Co-operative Banks into regular banks.
ii.  Urban Co-operative banks with business size of 20000 crore are recommended for conversion into regular banks.
iii.  Earlier in January a high powered committee on Urban co-operative banks is formed under the chairmanship of RBI deputy Governor R. Gandhi on conversion of Urban Co-operative banks into commercial banks.

3.  THREE INDIAN COMPANIES IN ‘TOP 100 INNOVATIVE COMPANIES LIST’ REALISED BY FORBES:
i.   Forbes the US Magazine realized list of top 100 innovative companies.
ii. The list is topped by California’s Tesla Motors.
iii. 3 Indian Companies: Hindustan Unilever has been ranked at 41st, TCS stood at 64th and Sun Pharma at 71st in the list of 100 innovative companies.

4. ‘IN PRINCIPLE’ APPROVAL BY RBI TO 11 PAYMENT BANKS APPLICANTS
i.  Reserve Bank of India has given approval to 11 payment Bank applicants out of 41 applicants.
ii. ‘In Principle’ means Approval for 18 months period.
i) Payment Banks: These are those banks which can take deposits, allow remittances and can sale financial products but cannot lend to its customer.
ii) Minimum capital for setting up a payment Bank: 100 crore.
