1. INDIA EMERGED AS WORLD’S LARGEST COTTON PRODUCER
i. India has emerged as world’s largest cotton producer by surpassing China.
 ii. According to International Cotton Advisory Committee India has produced 6.51 million tonnes  of the cotton against 6.48 mt registered by China in the cotton year 2014-15.

2. INDIA HAS ANNOUNCED TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE GASES EMISSIONS 33-35 PER CENT BY 2030.
i.India has announced to reduce greenhouse gases  emissions intensity to 33-35 per cent by 2030.
ii.Union Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar  has  said to achieve these targets Union Government will Boost the renewable energy capacity to 40 per cent by 2030 and maximize the use of clean technologies to meet these targets.

3. ADB TO PROVIDE LOAN FOR INDIA-BANGLADESH ELECTRICITY LINK UPGRADATION
i.  Asian Development Bank   to provide 120 million dollars loan for the upgradation of the India-Bangladesh electricity network.
ii. This fund will allow Bangladesh to meet its increasing power demand from India and support power exchanges across South Asia region.
iii.The Asian Development Bank  is a regional development bank established on 22 August 1966 which is headquartered in Metro Manila, Philippines,

1.’INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE’ OBSERVED  ON 2ND OCTOBER
i. The International Day of Non-Violence was observed on 2 October across the world.
ii. It was celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.
iii. The International Day of Non-Violence was started by the United Nations .

2. SWACHH BHARAT MISSION PLANS TO PRODUCE POWER, COMPOST FROM SOLID WASTE
i. On the first anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission, the Urban Development Ministry has announced crucial policy changes as it is planning to generate electricity from municipal solid waste.
ii Swachh Bharat Mission was officially launched on 2 October 2014 and it is India’s biggest ever cleanliness drive.
iii. The mission seeks to achieve clean India and aims to provide access to toilets to all households in the country.

3. ‘ICC WOMEN’S TEAM RANKINGS’ RELEASED
i. The International Cricket Council released the official ICC Women’s Team Rankings.
ii. Australia was ranked number one and Indian women’s cricket team was ranked at fourth place in the list.
iii. Recently in a list released by  ICC india was ranked at 2nd place and it is topped by Australia.

4. ‘INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS’ OBSERVED ON 1ST OCTOBER
i. 1st October is observed as International day of Older Persons
ii. Internationl day  of older persons is observed to raise awareness about issues affecting the elderly and to appreciate the contributions that older people make to society.

1. ‘HEENA SIDHU’ GRABBED GOLD AT ASIAN AIR GUN CHAMPIONSHIPS:
i. Heena Sidhu clinched a Gold medal in the 10-metre air pistol event of the Asian Air Gun Championships in New Delhi.
ii. Heena sidhu, who was India's first pistol shooter to be ranked number one in the world.
iii. Silver medal is also won by India‘s Shweta Singh.

2. INDIA TO HOLD ‘G20’ CHAIR IN 2018:
i. India is set to hold the G20 Chair in 2018, and New Delhi could host the prestigious annual G20 summit.
ii. G-20, (Group of Twenty) is an international forum for the governments and central bank governors from 20 major economies. The members include 19 individual countries and the European Union.

3. INDIA CLIMBS 16 PLACES IN WEF’S ‘GLOBAL COMPETITIVENESS INDEX’:
i. India has moved up 16 positions to 55th place on a global index of world’s most competitive economies for the year 2015-16.
ii.Global Competitiveness Report is released annually by the World Economic Forum
iii. Switzerland has retained its top position as the world’s most competitive economy for 7th year in a row and is followed by Singapore, the US, Germany and the Netherlands in the top-five.
iv. India stood at the 71st position.

4. ‘INDIA EMERGED MOST-FAVOURED DESTINATION FOR FDI’:DATA RELEASED BY FINANCIAL TIMES:
i. London-based business daily Financial Times released data on  Foreign Direct Investment .
ii. It was topped by India in the first half of 2015; India has surpassed China to emerge as the most-favoured destination for FDI.
iii. India received 31 billion dollar through FDI during January-June 2015 while China received 28 billion dollars is placed at number two position.
v. India received the maximum FDI from Mauritius followed by Singapore.

5. COMMEMORATIVE ‘STAMP ON DR. B.R. AMBEDKAR’ RELEASED BY UNION GOVERNMENT:
i. Commemorative postal stamp released by Department of Posts on Father of Indian Constitution Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.

1. ‘GURPREET SINGH’ GRABBED SILVER MEDAL AT 2015 ASIAN AIR GUN CHAMPIONSHIP
i. Indian shooter Gurpreet Singh grabbed silver medal at 2015 Asian Air Gun Championship in New Delhi.
ii. Gurpreet Singh  won silver in 10 metre Air Pistol event.
iii. India’s Jitu Rai won bronze medal in this event.

2. ‘RBI LOWERS REPO RATE BY 50 BASIS POINTS TO 6.75%
i. Reserve Bank of India has lowered the repo rate by 50 basis points from 7.25 per cent to 6.75 per cent.
ii. RBI announced it in the fourth bi-monthly monetary policy of RBI.
iii. Repo rate is the rate at which RBI lends to commercial bank. The reverse repo rate is the rate at which RBI borrows from commercial banks, it is also changed to 5.75 percent from 6.25 and the marginal standing facility rate and the Bank Rate is also changed to 7.75 per cent.
iv. The cash reserve ratio was kept unchanged at 4 percent of net demand and time liabilities .

3.’M.R. POOVAMMA AND BABITA KUMARI’ CONFERRED WITH ARJUNA AWARD
i. M.R. Poovamma and Babita Kumari have been honoured with prestigious Arjuna Award 2015 for their individual achievements in sports.
ii.The award was presented  by Union Minister of State  for Youth affairs and Sports, Sarbananda Sonowal in New Delhi.
iii. Poovamma is honoured  with this award for her contributions in Athletics
iv. Babita Kumari is honoured with this award for her contribution in the field of Wrestling.
v. Arjuna Award was instituted in 1961. It is given by Union Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports to sportsperson in recognition of their outstanding achievement in National sports.

4. UNION GOVERNMENT UNVEILS ‘GREEN HIGHWAYS POLICY 2015’
i. Union Government has launched Green Highways Policy-2015 to promote greening of National Highway corridors across the country.
ii. The policy was unveiled by Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi.
iii. Green Highways Policy 2015 is unveiled to  Promote greening and developing eco-friendly National Highway corridors across the country with participation of farmers, private sector and government institutions including Forest Department.
iv. The main aim of the policy is to reduce the impact of air pollution and dust by planting trees  along the National Highways.

5. MAHARASHTRA GOVERNMENT DECLARED 2017 AS ‘VISIT MAHARASHTRA YEAR’
i. The Maharashtra government declared the year 2017 as the Visit Maharashtra Year to promote tourism in the state and to attract more tourists.
ii. The government also launched international tourism promotion project Maharashtra International Travel Mart 2015. It is a global tourism promotion platform started by the state's Tourism department to attract buyers and sellers of tourism industry from across the globe to explore common growth opportunities in tourism in the state.

1. GOOGLE TO PROVIDE ‘WI-FI IN 400 INDIAN RAILWAY STATIONS’
 i. Google is going to provide high-speed public Wi-Fi in 400 Indian railway stations.
ii. Google is working with the Indian Railways and RailTel, a government-owned provider of telecommunications infrastructure to the railways.
iii. The internet service will be offered free initially with an aim to make the project self-sustainable in  order to provide Wi-Fi to more stations and other places.

2. ‘MITRA SHAKTI’ JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE BETWEEN INDIA-SRI LANKA
i. MITRA SHAKTI 2015 India-Sri Lanka joint military exercise started  in Pune, Maharashtra.
ii. The joint training exercise between both countries is started to promote Military to Military co-operation and interoperability.

i. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research-Central Institute of Medicinal and Aromatic Plants located at Lucknow grabbed, CSIR Award for S&T Innovations for Rural Development , 2014.
ii. The award is given for enhancing incomes of farm communities through Vetiver based Technological Interventions.
iii. CSIR Award for S&T Innovations for Rural Development. The award is given to recognize and honour S&T innovations that have helped transform the lives of rural people.
iv. The Vetiver System is a system of soil and water conservation.

4.  ‘JACOB TSIMERMAN’ GRABBED 2015 SASTRA RAMANUJAN PRIZE
i. Mathematician Jacob Tsimerman of Canada  was chosen for the prestigious 2015 SASTRA Ramanujan Prize.
ii. He will be honoured with the prize during the International Conference on Number Theory at SASTRA University in Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu.
iii. SASTRA Ramanujan Prizeis given  after the name of the genius mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan, the SASTRA Ramanujan Prize is awarded every year to a young mathematician.

1. ‘INDIA INKED LOAN AGREEMENT’ WITH ADB FOR TOURISM DEVELOPMENT
i. Union Government inked a loan agreement with Asian Development Bank  for US 123.51 million dollars for Infrastructure Development Investment Program.
ii. The loan will be used for upgrading Tourism infrastructure and services in three states Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh.
 The fund will be used:
i) For development of places of tourist attractions.
ii) To improve basic tourism facilities and build the capacity of tourism sector agencies and local communities in above three States.
iii) Develop eco-parks and eco-tourism in order to help the states to attract more tourists.

2. GOVERNOR OF MEGHALAYA ‘V. SHANMUGANATHAN’ GETS ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF MANIPUR
i. President Pranab Mukherjee has appointed Governor of Meghalaya V. Shanmuganathan as additional governer of Meghalaya to discharge the functions of the Governor of Manipur.
ii. He got additional charge of Manipur after demise of  previous Governor Dr. Syed Ahmed.

3. UNION GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTE ‘EXPERT COMMITTEE’E TO REVIVE UPSC CIVIL SERVICES EXAM PATTERN
i. Union Government has constituted an expert committee to examine various issues related to UPSC civil services examination.
ii. The committee will be headed by the former IAS officer  B.S. Baswan.
iii. The committee will look into all aspects of civil services examination including age relaxation, eligibility, syllabus and pattern of examination.

4.ASTROSAT’  INDIA’S 1ST SATELLITE FOR ASTRONOMY RESEARCH LAUNCHED
i. Indian Space Research Orgnaisation launched India’s first dedicated satellite for astronomy research, named ASTROSAT.
ii. The satellite was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at Sriharikota.
 ASTROSAT will provide information :
i) To understand high energy processes in binary star systems containing neutron stars and black holes.
ii) Study star birth regions and high energy processes in star systems lying beyond our galaxy.
iii) Perform a limited deep field survey of the Universe in the Ultraviolet region.
iv) It carries four X-ray payloads, one UV telescope and a charge particle monitor.
v) ASTROSAT’s life span is five years.

i.World Tourism Day  is observed on September 27 to raise awareness about the importance of tourism.

iii.The Theme emphasizes the impact of the tourism sector on economic growth, job creation and development.

2.’GHANGZHOU OPEN’ WOMEN’S DOUBLES TITLE WON BY SANIA MIRZA-MARTINA HINGIS
i.Sania Mirza and Martina Hingis won the Guangzhou Open title of tennis at Guangzhou of China.
ii. Sania has won seventh title of the 2015 season.
iii.Sania and Hinghis have now won six  titles such as Indian Wells, Miami, Charleston, Wimbledon, the US Open and Guangzhou of lawn tennis.

3. ‘LEVERAGING URBANISATION IN SOUTH ASIA’ REPORT RELEASED BY WORLD BANK
i. World Bank released a report entitled Leveraging Urbanisation in South Asia: Managing Spatial Transformation for Prosperity and Livability.
ii. The report provided diagnostic analysis of urbanization and related economic trends in the South Asia region.
Report with respect to India:
i) 1 in 7 in urban areas live below the poverty line in the country .
ii) Delhi’s air pollution is almost three times higher than in Beijing giving it the dubious distinction of being the world’s most polluted city.
iii) Governments should conduct risk assessments form potential natural hazards especially in cities that lie along the Himalayan range that at risk of earthquakes and heavy inland flooding.

4. ‘IBSF WORLD BILLIARDS CHAMPIONSHIP’ WON BY PANKAJ ADVANI
i. India’s Pankaj Advani has grabbed IBSF World Billiards Championship in Adelaide, Australia.
ii. Pankaj Advani  won  IBSF World title after  defeating Peter Gilchrist of Singapore.
iii. Pankaj Advani  is only player in the world to win world titles in all formats of both, Billiards and Snooker.

1. GOVERNMENT TO DISBURSE ‘ 1, 22,000 CRORE RUPEE’ LOAN UNDER MUDRA SCHEME
i. Union government has set a target of disbursing   1, 22,000 CRORE rupee loan to micro and marginal businesses under MUDRA scheme in current fiscal for the development of country.
ii. Micro Units Development and Refinance Agency Bank is a public sector financial institution in India.
iii. It provides loans at low rates to microfinance institutions and non-banking financial institutions which then provide credit to MSME.
iv. Small manufacturing unit, Shopkeepers, Fruits / Vegetable vendors, Artisans are eligible to borrow from MUDRA bank.

2. UNGA ADOPTED ‘NEW GLOBAL AGENDA TO END POVERTY’ BY 2030
i. United Nations General Assembly adopted the new global agenda to end poverty by 2030, for sustainable future.
ii. The new sustainable development agenda with 17 goals was adopted at UN Summit on sustainable development in New York, USA.
iii. Some important agenda’s:  sustainable development, economic growth, social inclusion and environmental protection, ending poverty in all its forms, achieve food security; ensure healthy lives, quality education, gender equality, water and sanitation and access to energy.

3. ‘MARS ORBITER MISSION’ COMPLETES 1 YEAR OF MISSION LIFE AROUND MARS
i. India’s Mars Orbiter Mission (MOM) spacecraft also known as Mangalyaan has completed one year of the mission life around Mars
ii. It has acquired a large set of data of the red planet using all five payloads mounted on it by completing more than 120 orbits.
iii. To mark first anniversary of MOM, a Mar Atlas mobile application was launched.
iv. The Mar Atlas contains  photos taken at  by the Mars Colour Camera fitted on board of the spacecraft.  
v. Mangalyaan is indigenously designed, built and launched by ISRO in record period of less than two years in 450 crore rupees.

 4. EU IMPOSES ‘ANTI-DUMPING DUTY’ ON INDIAN STEEL PIPES
i. European Union has imposed anti-dumping duty of up to 31.2 per cent on imports of sewage and water steel pipes from India for six months to protect its domestic industry.
ii. It will have negative impact on Indian exporters of these pipes.
iii. Anti-dumping duty is imposed as a counter-measure to protect domestic industry under the multilateral World Trade Organisation (WTO).

5. UNION GOVERNMENT ANNOUNCED ‘PACKAGE OF RS 1000 CRORE’ TO ANDHRA PRADESH
i.  Union Government has announced Special Assistance of 1000 crore rupees to the Andhra Pradesh  for the development projects during the  current financial year .
ii. These funds will be utilised for the development of backward districts and other essential infrastructure of Andhra Pradesh.

6. ‘ARVIND PANAGARIYA’ APPOINTED AS SHERPA FOR G-20
i. The Union Government has decided to appoint Arvind Panagariya as the Sherpa for the 2015 G-20 Summit.
ii. G-20 Summit will take place in Antalya, Turkey in November 2015.
iii. Sherpa means a senior official responsible for preparing the agenda for leaders to consider during the summit.

iv. G-20 was founded in 1999. It is an international forum for the government and central bank governors from 20 major economies. The forum focuses on promoting high-level discussion of policy issues related to the promotion of international financial permanence.
