1.’SERGEY KARJAKIN’ GRABBED 2015 WORLD CUP CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP
i. Sergey Karjakin of Russia has won 2015 World Cup Chess Championship held at Baku, Azerbaijan.
ii. Sergey Karjakin defeated Peter Svidler by 6-4 score.
iii. He holds the record for being world’s youngest Chess Grandmaster at the age young of 12 years and 7 months.

2. ‘TAKAAKI KAJITA AND ARTHUR B. MCDONALD’ HAVE JOINTLY WON THE 2015 NOBEL PRIZE IN PHYSICS
i. Takaaki Kajita of Japan and Arthur B. McDonald of Canada have jointly won the prestigious 2015 Nobel Prize in Physics.
ii. They are selected for their key contributions to experiments showing that neutrinos change identities. They individually have discovered neutrino oscillations and shown that neutrinos have mass.

3. ‘INS ASTRADHARANI’ INDUCTED INTO INDIAN NAVY
i. INS Astradharani was inducted into Indian Navy at Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
ii. It is Indian‘s first indigenously- built Torpedo launch and recovery vessel.
iii. It has replaced INS Astravahini which was decommissioned from India Navy in July, 2015.

4. ‘PRAVASI BHARATIYA DIVAS CONFERENCE 2016’ TO BE HELD IN NEW DELHI
i. The Pravasi Bharatiya Divas Conference 2016 will be held in New Delhi from 8 January to 10 January 2016.
ii. The objective of the conference is developing a new paradigm for engagement with the Diaspora over the next decade.

5. ‘JACK DORSEY’ APPOINTED AS NEW PERMANENT CEO OF TWITTER
i. Twitter has appointed Jack Dorsey as permanent CEO for second time.
ii. He will replace Dick Costolo who had resigned in June, 2015.
ii. With this new appointment he will cease to be chairman of the board of Twitter but will continue to serve as a member of the board.
iii. Twitter is an online social networking service.

6.’CHINA’ GRABBED 2015 FIBA ASIAN BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
i. China grabbed the International Basketball Federation Asia Championship by defeating the Philippines in the final.
ii. The victory of FIBA Asian Basketball Championship has made china’s qualification for the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

7. ‘WORLD ECONOMIC OUTLOOK REPORT’ RELEASED BY IMF
i. International Monetary Fund  released World Economic Outlook report  titled ‘Adjusting to Lower Commodity Prices’
ii. India’s growth is expected to strengthen from 7.3 percent 2015 and last year to 7.5 percent in 2016.
iii. Global growth is projected to decline from 3.4 percent in 2014 to 3.1 percent in 2015, before picking up to 3.6 percent in 2016
iv. According to report inflation in India, is expected to decline further in 2015, reflecting the fall in global oil and agricultural commodity prices.

8. RBI RELAXED NORMS OF FPI INVESTMENT IN GOVERNMENT SECURITIES
i. The Reserve Bank of India5 relaxed the norms of Foreign Portfolio Investors of government debt.
ii. It also announced higher investment limits in rupee terms in government securities with a view to bring in an additional 1.2 lakh crore rupees by March 2018.
iii. These directions were issued under sections 10(4) and 11(1) of the Foreign Exchange Management Act, 1999.

• Best Feature Film award to Kaushik Ganguly's Bengali film Chotoder Chobi

3. ‘INDIA AND GERMANY’ INKED 18 MOUS AND AGREEMENTS IN NEW DELHI
i. India and Germany have signed 18 agreements and memorandum of understanding in various sectors at the end of third edition of Indo-German Inter-governmental Consultations in new delhi.
ii. The Indo-German ICG was co-chaired by PM Narendra Modi and his  counterpart German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
 Some important agreements signed are:
i) Joint Declaration of Intent on Languages: It will promote German as a foreign language in India and promote modern Indian Languages in Germany.
ii) MoU on Solar Energy: will promote Indo-German Development Cooperation for Indo-German Solar Energy Partnership.
iii) Joint MoU on Skill Development will Boost cooperation in the Field of Skill Development and Vocational Education and Training.
iv) MoU on Security Cooperation was signed between Union Ministry of Home Affairs and Federal Ministry of the Interior of Germany.

4. ‘NATIONAL ANTI-DRUG ADDICTION DAY’ OBSERVED ON 2ND OCT
i. The National Anti-Drug Addiction Day was observed on 2 October  across the country to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi .
ii. The aim of the National Anti-Drug Addiction day is to make India free from drug and to preserve the talent.
iii. It was created by the Union Government against the backdrop of growing drug addiction in the country.

5. ‘NOBEL PRIZE’ IN PHYSIOLOGY OR MEDICINE-2015 ANNOUNCED
i. The Nobel Committee announced names of recipients in Physiology or Medicine   .
ii. The 2015 prize for physiology or medicine  will be given jointly to William C Campbell of Ireland and Satoshi Omura of Japan for their discoveries against infections caused by roundworm parasites and the other half to You Tu of China for her discoveries concerning a novel therapy against Malaria.

1. ‘CORPAT MARITIME EXERCISE’ BETWEEN INDIA AND INDONESIA
i. CORPAT maritime exercise between India and Indonesia began in the Andaman Sea.
ii. The navies of two countries have been carrying out Coordinated Patrolling along the International Maritime Boundary Line twice a year since 2002.
iii. The aim of this exercise is to keep vital part of the Indian Ocean Region safe and secure for commercial shipping and international trade.

2. ‘WORLD’S HIGHEST TERRESTRIAL RESEARCH CENTRE’ IN LADAKH SET UP BY DRDO
i.Defence Research and Development Organisation  has set up  the world’s Highest Terrestrial Research Centre near Pengong Lake at Changla in Ladakh.
ii. The Research Centre is located at 17,600 feet above mean sea level and it was inaugurated by Director General of DRDO Dr S Christopher
iii. It will serve as a natural cold storage for preserving endangered and rare medical plants for future generations and Large number of Life Sciences activities will be undertaken at this centre.

3. ‘SHASHANK MANOHAR’ ELECTED BCCI PRESIDENT
i. Shashank Manohar  was elected President of Board of Control for Cricket in India .
ii. He was elected unopposed during a special general meeting of BCCI following the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya.
iii. Shashank Manohar,  has also served as the 29th President of the board from 2008 to 2011.

4.2015 WUHAN OPEN WOMEN’S DOUBLES TITLE’ WON BY SANIA MIRZA-MARTINA HINGIS
i. Indian tennis player Sania Mirza and her Swiss partner Martina Hingis have won  2015 Wuhan Open Women’s Doubles Trophy t in Wuhan, China.
ii. The Indo-Swiss pair together in this year has won seventh World Tennis Association  doubles titles.
iii. Earlier both of them had won the Indian Wells Open, Miami Open, Charleston Opem, Wimbledon, US Open and Guangzhou Open in 2015 season.

1. ‘CITIZEN PORTAL’ LAUNCHED BY ODISHA GOVERNMENT
i. Odisha Government has launched citizen portal www.citizenportal-op.gov.in to facilitate citizens with various services.
ii. It was launched by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik in Bhubaneshwar.
iii. The citizen portal will provide services such as character certificates, issuance of FIR copies, registration of missing permissions, tenant’s verification, , employee’s verification and registration of lost property.

2. ‘ASHISH BAHUGUNA’ GIVEN ADDITIONAL CHARGE OF CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF FSSAI
i. Ashish Bahuguna, the Chairman of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India  was given an additional charge of Chief Executive Officer  of FSSAI.
ii. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India was instituted under Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 in August 2011.
iii. FSSAI is an agency of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare for protecting and promoting public health through the regulation and supervision of food safety.

3. ‘SPECIAL KHADI UTSAV ‘LAUNCHED BY GUJRAT GOVERNMENT
i. Gujarat Government has launched a special Khadi Utsav in Ahmedabad.
ii. It is launched to promote khadi on the occasion of Mahatma Gandhi’s 146th birth anniversary.
iii. The main aim of  Khadi Utsav is to introduce wide range of khadi apparels both for men and women.
iv. To promote Khadi, state Government has announced a special 25 per cent discount on all khadi products manufactured in Gujarat, while 15 per cent rebate on Khadi produced in other state.

4. ‘TRICHY CORPORATION’ WON SKOCH AWARD FOR EFFECTIVE SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT
i. The Tiruchirapalli City Municipal Corporation awarded with Skoch Smart Governance Award for Achieving Operational Excellence in Waste Transportation using Information and Communication Technology based solutions.
ii. The award was given by Skoch, a Gurgaon-based group that deals with social issues.
iii. The city corporation used radio frequency identification system for effective solid waste management in the city.
iv. Radio-frequency identification is the wireless use of electromagnetic fields to transfer data to automatically identify and track tags attached to objects. The tags carry electronically stored information.

1. INDIA EMERGED AS WORLD’S LARGEST COTTON PRODUCER
i. India has emerged as world’s largest cotton producer by surpassing China.
 ii. According to International Cotton Advisory Committee India has produced 6.51 million tonnes  of the cotton against 6.48 mt registered by China in the cotton year 2014-15.

2. INDIA HAS ANNOUNCED TO REDUCE GREENHOUSE GASES EMISSIONS 33-35 PER CENT BY 2030.
i.India has announced to reduce greenhouse gases  emissions intensity to 33-35 per cent by 2030.
ii.Union Environment Minister Prakash Javdekar  has  said to achieve these targets Union Government will Boost the renewable energy capacity to 40 per cent by 2030 and maximize the use of clean technologies to meet these targets.

3. ADB TO PROVIDE LOAN FOR INDIA-BANGLADESH ELECTRICITY LINK UPGRADATION
i.  Asian Development Bank   to provide 120 million dollars loan for the upgradation of the India-Bangladesh electricity network.
ii. This fund will allow Bangladesh to meet its increasing power demand from India and support power exchanges across South Asia region.
iii.The Asian Development Bank  is a regional development bank established on 22 August 1966 which is headquartered in Metro Manila, Philippines,

i.Forbes India Leadership Awards-2015 was presented  in Mumbai.

1.’INTERNATIONAL DAY OF NON-VIOLENCE’ OBSERVED  ON 2ND OCTOBER
i. The International Day of Non-Violence was observed on 2 October across the world.
ii. It was celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, a pioneer of the philosophy and strategy of non-violence.
iii. The International Day of Non-Violence was started by the United Nations .

2. SWACHH BHARAT MISSION PLANS TO PRODUCE POWER, COMPOST FROM SOLID WASTE
i. On the first anniversary of Swachh Bharat Mission, the Urban Development Ministry has announced crucial policy changes as it is planning to generate electricity from municipal solid waste.
ii Swachh Bharat Mission was officially launched on 2 October 2014 and it is India’s biggest ever cleanliness drive.
iii. The mission seeks to achieve clean India and aims to provide access to toilets to all households in the country.

3. ‘ICC WOMEN’S TEAM RANKINGS’ RELEASED
i. The International Cricket Council released the official ICC Women’s Team Rankings.
ii. Australia was ranked number one and Indian women’s cricket team was ranked at fourth place in the list.
iii. Recently in a list released by  ICC india was ranked at 2nd place and it is topped by Australia.

4. ‘INTERNATIONAL DAY OF OLDER PERSONS’ OBSERVED ON 1ST OCTOBER
i. 1st October is observed as International day of Older Persons
ii. Internationl day  of older persons is observed to raise awareness about issues affecting the elderly and to appreciate the contributions that older people make to society.

iii. The Theme for year 2015: ‘Sustainability and Age Inclusiveness in the Urban Environment
