1. PARLIAMENTARY STANDING COMMITTEE PRESENTED REPORT ON NPAS OF PUBLIC SECTOR BANKS
i. Parliamentary Standing committee submitted the report on the Net Non performing Assets of Public Sector Banks
ii. The committee is headed by M. Veerappa Moily.
iii. The report is about bad loans of banks.
Highlights of the Report:
a.    The committee stated that NPAs in the country’s PSBs are around 25024 crore rupees
b.   The report stated that each year the net volume of NPAs of all banks and financial institutions are increasing instead of declining.
iv. Nonperforming Assets are refered  to loans that are default and unpaid  with in 90 days then the loans are considered as non-performing assets.

2. MIZORAM LAUNCHED NATIONAL FOOD SECURITY ACT, 2013
i. National Food Security Act 2013 was officially launched in Mizoram.
ii. The Act will become effective in the state from 1 March 2016.
iii. The state has decided to allocate 3 kilogram of rice in addition to the 5 kilogram covered by Food Security Act.
iv. National Food Security Act came into effect on 5 July 2013.
v. It aims at providing legal entitlement to 5 kg of subsidised foodgrains per person per month at 1 rupee to 3 rupees per kilogram to two-thirds of the country’s population.

3. RBI CANCELLED CERTIFICATE OF REGISTRATION OF 26 NBFCS
i. The Reserve Bank of India cancelled the certificate of registration of the 26 non-banking financial companies.
ii. RBI cancelled the certificate of registration of these 26 NBFCs in exercise of the powers conferred on it, under Section 45-IA (6) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.
The NBFCs whose registration was cancelled includes

4. VIENNA RANKED BEST CITY FOR QUALITY OF LIFE IN 18TH MERCER QUALITY OF LIFE SURVEY
i. 18th Mercer annual Quality of Living survey was released the list was topped by Vienna and the last rank is gone to Iraq.
ii. The list is compiled by consulting firm Mercer.
iii. Vienna offers the highest quality of life of all cities in the world.
