1. RBI ISSUED REVISED FRAMEWORK FOR REVIVAL AND REHABILITATION OF MSMES
i. The Reserve Bank of India issued revised Framework for Revival and Rehabilitation of Medium, Small and Micro Enterprises.
ii. The Framework has to be put in place by the banks before 30 June 2016.
iii. It shall be applicable to MSMEs having loan limits up to 25 crore rupees including accounts under consortium or multiple banking arrangement.
iv. In order to have faster resolution of stress in an MSME account, every bank shall form Committees for Stressed MSMEs

2. UNION CABINET APPROVED MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND UAE TO MOBILISE LONG TERM INVESTMENT INTO NIIF
i. The Union Cabinet gave its ex-post facto approval for a MoU between India and the United Arab Emirates to mobilise long term investment into the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund.
ii. It is signed to maximize economic impact mainly through infrastructure development in commercially viable projects in India.
iii. It will facilitate establishment of a transparent and high-level framework and collaboration platform for smooth flow of investments for this purpose.
iv. National Investment and Infrastructure Fund was approved by the Union Cabinet in last year to fund new and rejuvenate stressed projects.

3. ARVIND KEJRIWAL NAMED AMONG WORLD’S 50 GREATEST LEADERS BY FORTUNE MAGAZINE
i. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been named among the world’s 50 greatest leaders by Fortune magazine.
ii. He is sole leader from India in the list and has been placed at 42nd position.
iii. The list has been topped by Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos.
iv. Top 5 persons in the list are Jeff Bezos, Angela Merkel, Aung San Suu Kyi , Pope Francis and Tim Cook.

4. ANDHRA PRADESH GOVERNMENT INAUGURATES COUNTRY’S FIRST LIFT IRRIGATION PROJECT
i. Andhra Pradesh government inaugurated India’s first river linking project  Pattiseema lift irrigation project connecting Godavari River with Krishna River .
ii. The project has been completed in a record time of one year by the Hyderabad-based Megha Engineering and Infrastructure Limited.
iii. It has the capactiy to lift 80 tmc (trillion metric cubic feet) of flood water from Godavari River in a span of 110 days during the flooding season between July and October.

5. BHEL COMMISSIONED 600 MW JAIPUR THERMAL POWER PLANT IN TELANGANA
i. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited announced  commission of  a 600 MW coal-based thermal power plant in Telangana.
ii. The 1200 MW Jaipur Power Plant is being developed by Singareni Collieries Company Limited.
iii. Earlier in December 2015 the 600 MW Kakatiya Thermal Power Plant Stage was commissioned at Bhoopalapally in Warangal district.

1. MARCH 25 OBSERVED AS INTERNATIONAL DAY OF REMEMBRANCE OF THE VICTIMS OF SLAVERY AND THE TRANSATLANTIC SLAVE TRADE
i. Every year 25th March is being observed as International Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Slavery and the Transatlantic Slave Trade.
ii.TRhe day is observed to honours and remembers those who suffered and died as a consequence of the transatlantic slave trade.
iii.It also aims at raising awareness about the dangers of racism and slave trade .
iv.The Theme of the day is “Remember Slavery: Celebrating the Heritage and Culture of the African Diaspora and its Roots”.

2. UNION CABINET APPROVED IMPLEMENTATION OF PRADHAN MANTRI AWAAS YOJANA GRAMIN
i.Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved the implementation of rural housing scheme of the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana – Gramin .
ii. This will help achieve the goal of Housing for All by 2022.
iii.The Scheme will provide financial assistance for construction of 1 crore pucca houses to all houseless

3. UNION CABINET APPROVED INDIA’S ACCESSION TO THE ASHGABAT AGREEMENT
i. The Union Cabinet gave its approval for India to accede to the Ashgabat Agreement.
ii.The Agreement is an international and transit corridor facilitating transportation of goods between Central Asia and the Persian Gulf.
iii.It will enable India to utilise this existing transport and transit corridor to facilitate trade and commercial interaction with the Eurasian region.
iv.Ashgabat Agreement was initially signed among Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Oman and Qatar in April 2011.
v.It aims to develop a shortest trade route between Central Asian countries and Iranian and Omani ports.

4. PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI INAUGURATED BROADBAND CONNECTIVITY TO NE STATES VIA BANGLADESH
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated broadband connectivity to North Eastern States via Bangladesh to strengthen telecom services in the region.
ii.Under this project an international gateway for broadband connectivity will be set up at Agartala in Tripura.
iii.The cost of the project is around 19 crore rupees and BSNL will bear annual operational expenditure of around seven crore rupees from its own resources.

5. JUSTICE PERMOD KOHLI APPOINTED CHAIRMAN OF CENTRAL ADMINISTRATIVE TRIBUNAL
i. Justice Permod  kohli has been appointed as the Chairman of Central Administrative Tribunal .
ii.He was appointed for a period of five years.
iii. Central Administrative Tribunal was constituted in November 1985 under Section 29 of the Administrative Tribunals Act, 1985.

6. 9TH INTERNATIONAL ABILYMPICS STARTED IN FRANCE
i. 9th International Abilympics started at Bordeaux in France.
ii.Abilympics is coined from Olympics of abilities of persons with disabilities.
iii.It is a global work skills competition held every four years.
iv.It aims to promote social awareness in the field of skills development and employment both locally and internationally, and foster friendship among the competing nations.

v.The name Abilympics comes from the idea of organizing a competition to promote the skills of persons with disabilities. It combines Abilities with the idea of the Olympics.

1. AUSTRALIAN ALL ROUNDER SHANE WATSON RETIRES FROM INTERNATIONAL CRICKET
i. Australian all rounder Shane Watson has announced his retirement from all forms of International Cricket.
ii. Earlier in 2015 he had announced his retirement from Test cricket.

2. US LAWMAKERS INTRODUCE LEGISLATION IN CONGRESS TO HELP INDIA TO JOIN APEC
i. US lawmakers have introduced a Bill in the Congress to help India to join the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation.
ii.Indian Government is working for major economic reforms to open India’s markets, improve trade and increasing employement opurtunities. 
iii.US and India partnership is vital to the US strategic interests in the Asia-Pacific region and across the globe.
iv.Asia and Pacific Economic Cooperation is regional economic forum comprising of 21 member countries accounting for about half of the world’s trade
v.It was established in 1989 in order to leverage the growing interdependence of Asia-Pacific region’s economies and promote free trade.
vi. India is having observer of APEC has applied for membership.
vii.But some countries have objected to granting membership to India as it does not border the Pacific Ocean, which all current members do.

3. MARCH 24 OBSERVED AS WORLD TUBERCULOSIS DAY
i. Every year March 24 is observed as World Tuberculosis Day.
ii.The day is observed to  promote public awareness about the global epidemic of TB and efforts to eliminate the disease.
iii.The Theme was “Unite to End TB”.
iv. Tuberculosis is an infectious bacterial disease caused by various strains of Mycobacterium tuberculosis.
v. It is the second biggest killer disease worldwide next only to HIV/AIDS.

4. INDIA AND FRANCE INKED MOU FOR CONSTRUCTION OF SIX NUCLEAR REACTORS AT JAITAPUR
i. India and France have inked a Memorandum of Understanding for construction of 6 nuclear reactors at Jaitapur nuclear park in Maharashtra.
ii.It is a 9900 MW power project proposed  at Madban village in Maharashtra.
iv.It will become the largest nuclear power generating station in the world.

5. JUSTICE PERMOD KOHLI HAS BEEN APPOINTED AS CHAIRMAN OF CENTRAL ADMINISTRATIVE TRIBUNAL
i. Justice Permod Kohli has been appointed as the Chairman of Central Administrative Tribunal.
ii. Central Administrative Tribunal  was established under Article 323-A of the Constitution.
iii.It is formed to exercise original jurisdiction in relation to recruitment and all services matters of public servants covered by it.

6. JUSTICE H L DATTU APPOINTED AS MEMBER OF INTERNATIONAL COORDINATING COMMITTEE BUREAU OF NHRI-ICC
i. The Chairman of the National Human Rights Commission Justice HL Dattu has been appointed as member of the International Coordinating Committee Bureau of National Human Rights Institutions Bureau in Geneva.
ii. He has been selected from the Asia-Pacific region.
iii.He will represent India, Mongolia, Qatar and Australia from this region.

iv.It is an human rights body that serves as the Management Committee of the International Coordinating Committee of National Human Rights Institutions.

1. UNION CABINET APPROVED WORLD BANK’S $1500 MILLION SUPPORT TO SWACHH BHARAT MISSION GRAMIN
i.Union Cabinet  approved the 1500 million US dollar project of World Bank to support Swachh Bharat Mission  Gramin.
ii.It will provide the system for incentivisation of States under the Swachh Bharat Mission Gramin through World Bank credit.
iii.The incentivisation of the States will be done on the basis of their performance
iv.The performance of the States will be checked through certain performance indicators named as the Disbursement Linked Indicators on the basis of :
a.  Reduction in the prevalence of open defecation
b.  Sustaining Open Defecation Free  status in Villages:
c.  Increase in percentage of rural population served by improved Solid and Liquid Waste Management

2. ISRO ESTABLISHED GIRI RADAR SYSTEM AT TIRUPATI
i. The Indian Space Research Organisation established the Gadanki Ionospheric Radar Interferometer near Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh.
ii.It was set up at the National Atmospheric Research Laboratory  which is an autonomous research institute of the Department of Space.
iii. Its main objective is to study the forces from the sun like variation in solar flux, solar flare and magnetic storm on the ionospheric irregularities.

3. DIPP APPROVED 49% FDI UNDER AUTOMATIC ROUTE IN INSURANCE AND PENSION SECTOR
i. The Union Commerce and Industry Ministry has approved foreign direct investment upto 49% in insurance and pension sector will be under automatic route.
ii. FDI above 49% will be subject to approval of the Foreign Investment Promotion Board .
iii.Earlier only up to 26% FDI was permitted through the automatic approval route in insurance and pension sector..

4. RESOLUTION INTRODUCED IN US HOUSE TO BRING INDIA ON PAR WITH NATO ALLIES
i. A resolution aiming to bring India in America’s NATO allies in terms of Defence trade and technology transfer was introduced.
ii. The resolution seeks to formalize:
a. India’s status as a major partner of equal status as US’s NATO allies and closest partners
b.To elevate India’s status in export of defence articles from the US.

5. INDIA POST RELEASES COMMEMORATIVE STAMP ON HAL’S 75-YEAR OF SERVICE
i.India Post has released a commemorative stamp on Hindustan Aeronautical Limited  in recognition of the company’s 75 years of service to the nation.
ii. It is for the first time India Post has issued stamps named ‘My Stamp’ and HAL is the first organisation to feature on it.
iii. The tagline of the customized stamp is ‘HAL: The force behind the forces’

iv.Hindustan Aeronautical Limited is state owned aerospace and defence company based in Bangalore, Karnataka.

1. INDIA ASSUMES BRICS CHAIRMANSHIP FROM RUSSIA FOR 2016
i. India has assumed BRICS Chairmanship from the Russian for the year 2016.
ii. BRICS is an association of five countries viz. Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
iii. India has assumed BRICS Chairmanship for second time.
IV.Earlier India hosted the BRICS Summit in 2012 for first time in New Dehli.
iv.India will host the 8th  BRICS Summit  15th  to 16th  October 2016 in Goa.

2. MARCH 22 OBSERVED AS WORLD WATER DAY
i. Every year World Water Day is observed globally on 22nd March.
ii.The day is observed to preserve and ration consumption of water.
iii.The theme of the day is “Better Water, Better Jobs”.

3. ASHOK LAHIRI COMMITTEE FORMED TO REVIEW EXCISE DUTY IMPOSED ON DIFFERENT JEWELLERY ARTICLES IN BUDGET 2016-17
i. The Union Ministry of Finance constituted Committee to review issues related to excise duty.
ii.The committee will be headed by former Chief Economic Advisor Dr Ashok Lahiri .
iii.It will review excise duty imposed on different jewellery articles in Budget 2016-17.
iv.In the Union Budget 2016-17, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley proposed the Central Excise duty at the rate of 1 percent  and 12.5 percent  on jewellery items.
v.It has  been strongly opposed by the All India Gems and Jewellery Trade Federation that it will hurt jewellery sector that employs millions of people.

4. INDIAN COAST GUARD SHIP ARNVESH COMMISSIONED AT VISAKHAPATNAM
i. The fast patrol vessel of the Indian Coast Guard Arnvesh was commissioned at Visakhapatnam Andhra Pradesh.
ii. The ship will undertake coastal patrol, surveillance at sea, anti-piracy operations, anti-smuggling and search and rescue operations.

5. HINDUJA BROTHERS TOPPED BRITAIN’S ASIAN RICH LIST 2016
i. The Hinduja Brothers G P Hinduja and S P Hinduja topped the Asian Rich List 2016.
ii.The Hinduja Brothers topped  in the list for the fourth consecutive year with an estimated  fortune of 16.5 billion pounds.
iii.Steel tycoon Lakshmi Niwas Mittal was ranked second in the list.

6. AKHILESH RANJAN COMMITTEE ON TAXATION OF E-COMMERCE SUBMITTED ITS REPORT TO UNION GOVERNMENT
i. A Committee on Taxation of e-commerce constituted by the Central Board of Direct Taxes to examine the business models for e-commerce submitted its report to the central government.
ii.The Report provides the views about the issues related to taxation of e-commerce.

7. WRESTLER HARDEEP SINGH WON SILVER MEDAL IN ASIAN OLYMPIC QUALIFICATION TOURNAMENT
i. Indian wrestler Hardeep Singh won silver medal in the Asian Olympic Qualification Tournament held in Astana, Kazakhstan.
ii.Now he qualified for participation in the Rio Olympics 2016 .
iii.Earlier Yogeshwra Dutt and Narsingh Yadav qualified for the Olympics in men's freestyle category.

8. GOVT ALLOWS 49% FDI IN INSURANCE UNDER AUTOMATIC ROUTE
i. The government of India has relaxed FDI norms for the insurance sector by permitting overseas companies to buy 49 percent stake in domestic insurers under automatic rule.
ii.It is an  effort to bring more foreign companies into India’s  insurance market.
iii. Earlier foreign companies are allowed to buy up to 26% stake in an India and above 26% the investor had to take approval from the Foreign Investment Promotion Board.
