1. UMA BHARTI TO INAUGURATE JAL MANTHAN 2016
i. Union Minister of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation Uma Bharti has inaugurated Jal Manthan 2 on February 22 in New Delhi.
ii. The main theme of the event is Integrated Approach for Sustainable Water Management.
iii. The purpose of the event is to have discussions on River Basin Approach for Sustainable development, Ground water, Water security, innovation in water governance, Water management and Coordination.
iv. The first Jal Manthan was organized in November 2014.

2. KALIKHO PUL SWORNED IN AS ARUNACHAL PRADESH CM.
i. Congress leader Kalikho Pul has sworn in as the ninth Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh.
ii. Earlier President rule was imposed in the state.
iii. He has replaced former Chief Minister Nabam Tuki
Governor of Arunachal pardesh: J P Rajkhowa

3. RENOWNED NOVELIST HARPER LEE PASSES AWAY
i. Harper Lee known for her famous novel To Kill a Mockingbird has passed away in US.
ii. She is also known for her famous novel about a young girl’s experience of racial tensions in a small Southern town has sold tens of millions of copies and been translated into dozens of languages.

4. WORLD BANK TO SUPPORT RAJASTHAN ON ENERGY REFORMS
i. The World Bank has decided to lend financial support to the Rajasthan government on energy reforms.
ii. The decision was taken at a meeting between World Banks director in India, Onno Ruhl and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje.
iii. The fund is given for the ongoing projects on rural development, including the Jal Swablamban Abhiyan, and o new technologies in Agriculture, Skill Development and Tourism in Rajasthan.

5. PLAYING IT MY WAY ENTERS LIMCA BOOK OF RECORDS
i. Cricket Legend Sachin Tendulkar’s autobiography, Playing It My Way, has entered the Limca Book of Records.
ii. The autobiography is entered in the category of best-selling books  in  both fiction and non-fiction categories in the world.
iii. More than 1,50,289 copies of the autobiography has been sold in the world.

6. FEBRUARY 21 OBSERVED AS INTERNATIONAL MOTHER LANGUAGE DAY
i. International Mother Language Day  is observed  on 21 February in the world.
ii. The day is observed to promote awareness of linguistic, multilingualism and cultural diversity.
iii. The Theme of the day is “Quality education, language of instruction and learning outcomes

7. MADHYA PARDESH AND RAJASTHAN SETS UP SPV FOR IMPLEMENTATION OF SMART CITY PLANS
i. Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan Government have set up Special Purpose Vehicles for the implementation of Smart City Plans.
ii. They have been set up for five cities that are Jabalpur, Bhopal, indore, Jaipur and Udaipur.
iii. Smart Cities Project  will improve infrastructure and service delivery through application of Information and Communication Technology and e-governance.

1. DRDO SUCCESSFULLY TEST-FIRED ANTI-TANK MISSILE NAG IN RAJASTHAN
i. The Defence Research and Development Organisation has test-fired Nag anti-tank missile in Rajasthan.
ii. It can be fired during night and day anytime.
iii. It has a range of 4 km.

2. STANDARD OPERATING PROCEDURE FOR INDIA AND MYANMAR COORDINATED PATROL SIGNED
i. Indian and Myanmar Navy inked a agreement for Standard Operating Procedure for India-Myanmar Coordinated Patrol in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
ii. Myanmar has became the third country with which India has signed a formal agreement for maritime coordinated patrols.

3. AMIT MITRA WILL BE NEW CHAIRMAN OF GST COMMITTEE OF STATE FMS
i. The Finance Minister of West Bengal Amit Mitra was named as the chairman of the Empowered Committee of State Finance Ministers on Goods and Services Tax.
ii. He will replace Kerala Finance Minister K M Mani who is facing corruption charges.

4. WARREN RICHARDSON AUSTRALIAN PHOTOGRAPHER WINS WORLD PRESS PHOTO OF 2015
i. The World Press Photo of the Year has selected an image by Australian photographer Warren Richardson as the World Press Photo of the Year 2015.
ii. Richardson is a freelance photographer, currently based in Budapest, Hungary.
 iii. The award is given to those photographer whose visual creativity and skills made a picture that captures or represents an event issue of great journalistic importance in the last year.

i. Karnataka Bank  has won the IBA Banking Technology Award’ in the category of ‘Best Risk and Fraud Management Initiative - Runner Up’ amongst small banks.
ii. The award was announced as part of Indian Banks’ Association Technology Conference, Expo and Awards 2016.

6. SBI OPENS "JAPAN DESK" IN NEW DEHI
i. State Bank of India has launched ‘Japan Desk’, a single window for inbound Japanese investments in India.
ii. It will help to facilitate Japanese corporate looking to invest in India with banking and advisory services.
iii. It will also facilitate establishment of banking relationship with Japanese corporates and Japanese nationals and provide information on industries, sectors etc.

7. TATA GOING TO LAUNCH FIRST EVER INDIA-MADE ROBOT ‘BRABO’
i. Tata company, is going to launch first ever India-made robot ‘Brabo’ in Mumbai.
ii. It is displayed in the make in India week in Mumbai to promote domestic productions.
iii. The development cost is reported to be about Rs 10 crore.
