1. RANVEER SINGH TO BE HONOURED WITH 'MAHARASHTRIAN OF THE YEAR'
i. Bollywood star Ranveer Singh, will be honoured with the ‘Maharashtrian of the Year’
ii. The 'Lokmat Maharashtrian of The Year' award recognises and honours the individuals who brought laurels for Maharashtra.

2. PM NARENDRA MODI CONFERRED SAUDI ARABIA’S HIGHEST CIVILIAN HONOUR
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was conferred Saudi Arabia’s highest civilian honour  the King Abdulaziz Sash.
ii. The prestigious award was bestowed upon Indian Prime Minister by Saudi Arabia’s King Salman bin Abdulaziz at the Royal Court

3. WEST INDIES WINS 2016 ICC T-20 CRICKET WORLD CUP
i. West Indies has won the ICC Cricket World Men’s T-20 Cup 2016 by defeating England by 4 wickets in the final match played at Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

4. INTERNATIONAL DAY OF MINE AWARENESS AND ASSISTANCE IN MINE ACTION OBSERVED ON 4TH APRIL.
i. International Day of Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action is observed on April 4
ii. The theme of the year 2016 is Mine Action is Humanitarian Action.
iii. The day is observed to work together to advance the goal of a world free of the threat of mines and explosive remnants of war.

5. INDIA SIGNED AGREEMENT WITH GERMANY’S KFW FOR 500 MILLION EURO LOAN TO NAGPUR METRO
i. India and Germany’s Development Bank KfW inked an agreement to provide loan assistance of 500 million Euro for the modern and sustainable metro system for Nagpur city.
ii. This is the first German assistance to Metro project in the country.
iii. Nagpur Metro is the first metro to be financed under the Indo-German partnership for clean, socially inclusive and climate friendly mobility for people in cities.

6. WORLD'S FIRST WHITE TIGER SAFARI INAUGURATED IN MADHYA PRADESH
i. Union Minister for Environment and Forests Prakash Javdekar  inaugurated a White Tiger Safari at Mukundpur in Satna district of Madhya Pradesh.
ii. The Safari is situated adjacent to the Mukundpur Zoo which is spread over 75 hectares.
iii. The safari houses three white tigers, including one male named Raghu and two females named Vindhya and Radha.

7. INDIA RANKS 6TH IN 2015 TOP-10 MANUFACTURERS LIST
i. India has been ranked sixth among the world’s Top-Ten largest manufacturing countries in the United Nations Industrial Development Organization 2015 Yearbook report.
ii. India has jumped by three positions to sixth position compared to earlier ninth position in the previous report.
iii. Top 5 countries are China, United States, Japan, Germany and South Korea.
iv. UNIDO is a specialized agency in the United Nations headquartered at Vienna, Austria.
v. The main Objective is to Promote and accelerate industrial development in developing countries

8. NOVAK DJOKOVIC WINS 2016 MIAMI OPEN TITLE
i. World Number One tennis player Novak Djokovic has grabbed the 2016 Miami Open Title in the men’s singles category at Crandon Park Florida, US.
ii. He defeated Kei Nishikori of Japan.
iii. In Women’s single category Victoria Azarenka of Belarus won the 2016 Miami Open Title

1. UNION GOVERNMENT IMPOSES SAFEGUARD DUTY ON IMPORT OF STEEL PRODUCTS
i. The Union Finance Minister has extended the safeguard duty on import of some steel products by two years till March 2018.
ii. The safeguard duty will be imposed on steel products hot-rolled flat products of non-alloy and other alloy steel
iii. The duty will be on the products which are imported at or above the minimum import price which helps to set a floor price mainly to discourage imports below this price.
iv. The main objective of this move is to protect domestic industry from onslaught of cheap steel supplies from China.

2. JAILED EGYPTIAN NOVELIST AHMED NAJI TO RECEIVE PEN/BARBEY FREEDOM TO WRITE AWARD
i. Novelist Ahmed Naji will receive PEN/Barbey freedom to write award at Pen America's annual Literary Gala at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
ii. Naji is the author and a journalist at the state-funded Akhbar al-Adab literary magazine.
iii. In 2015, he was charged with violating public modesty after a private citizen complained that an Naji’s novel ‘The Use of Life’ had given the reader heart palpitations due to its sexual content.

3. SHIVA THAPA WINS SILVER MEDAL AT ASIAN/OCEANIA QUALIFYING EVENT IN CHINA
i. Ace Indian boxer Shiva Thapa has won the silver medal at the Asian/Oceania Qualifying Tournament held in Qian’an, China in the 56 Kg category.
ii. The Gold medal was won by Thailand’s Chatchai Butdee.
iii. Earlier Shiva won   World Championship bronze-medallist in the Bantamweight category held in Doha in 2015.

4. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED VIDYUT PRAVAH MOBILE APP TO EMPOWER PEOPLE TO DEMAND 24X7 POWERS.
i. Union Power, Coal and New and Renewable Energy Minister of State Piyush Goyal launched Vidyut PRAVAH- Electricity, Price Availability and Highlights mobile application in New Delhi.
ii. The mobile application provides highlights of the power availability in India on real time basis.
iii. The app will empower common people to demand 24X7 power from the states and will take transparency to the next level and make state governments more accountable.

5. WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY 2016 CELEBRATED ACROSS THE WORLD
i. The World Autism Awareness Day 2016 was celebrated across the world on 2 April 2016.
ii. The Theme for the day is Autism and the 2030 Agenda: Inclusion and Neurodiversity.
iii. The day is observed to raise awareness about children with autism throughout the world.
iv. Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that manifests itself during the first three years of life.

1. 4TH NUCLEAR SECURITY SUMMIT BEGINS IN WASHINGTON
i.  The fourth edition of Nuclear Security Summit started  in Washington,USA.
ii. The summit is conducted to discuss issues related to nuclear security.
iii. The summit is attended by the heads of about 53 countries and representatives of five international organisations including the UNO, International Atomic Energy Agency, European Union and Interpol are taking part.
iv. India is being represented by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
v. The summit will highlight achievements and commitments of several countries towards safeguarding nuclear devices and technologies and reducing the threat of nuclear terrorism.

2. INDIA AND SRI LANKA SIGNED MOU TO PROVIDE 150 BOATS & FISHING EQUIPMENT TO MULLAITHIVU FISHERMEN
i. India and Sri Lanka inked a Memorandum of Understanding to provide 150 fishing boats and fishing equipment to 300 Tamil fishermen from Mullaithivu in North Sri Lanka.
ii. The boats and equipment will be provided as a part of India’s development assistance programme in Sri Lanka.
iii. Earlier India had provided 175 boats and fishing equipment to Tamil fishermen of Mannar region.

3. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES STARTUP INDIA PORTAL AND MOBILE APP
i. The Union Government has launched the Startup India portal (http://startupindia.gov.in) and mobile application.
ii. It was launched by the Department of Industrial Policy & Promotion Ramesh Abhishek in New Delhi.
iii. It was started to promote Action Plan of the Startup India started by PM.
iv. The portal and mobile app provide up-to- date information issued by various Government ministries/ departments.

4. BIHAR GOVERNMENT PARTIALLY BANS SALE OF COUNTRY-MADE AND SPICED LIQUOR
i. Bihar Government has banned the sale of country-made liquor and spiced liquor throughout the state in the first phase.
ii. Person found indulging in manufacturing trade, transportation, sale and consumption of country-made and spiced liquor across the state will be punished.

5. VIJAYA BANK TO GET RS 220 CRORE CAPITAL INFUSION FROM GOVERNMENT
i. Vijaya Bank  a capital infusion of Rs 220 crore in lieu of preferential allotment of shares.
ii. Last year, the government had announced a revamp plan 'Indradhanush' to infuse Rs 70,000 crore in state-owned banks over four years.
iii. In the first tranche, as many as 13 public sectors banks were given fund support of Rs 19,950 crore.
iv. SBI got the highest amount of Rs 5,393 crore.

6. KACHHABALI BECOMES 1ST LIQUOR-FREE VILLAGE IN RAJASTHAN
i. Kachhabali village in Rajasthan has become the 1st in the state to vote to close down its lone liquor shop.
ii. 67.11% of voters saying they wanted no alcohol sale in the village.
iii. Polling was conducted by the excise department for taking reviews of public about opening/closing of liquor shops in Rajasthan’s rural areas.

7. VIRAT KOHLI RISES TO TOP IN ICC T20I RANKINGS
i. Indian Test Captain Virat Kohli has replaced Aaron Finch as the number one batsman in the latest ICC T20 rankings.
ii. In the bowlers rankings, India's Ravinchandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja feature in the Top-10. Ashwin has slipped to be at 3rd place while Jadeja moved up 3 spots to be at 7th.
iii. The bowling list is topped by S. Badree in T20 rankings.

1. RELIANCE DEFENCE AND ISRAEL’S RAFAEL TO SET UP MISSILE, AIR DEFENCE JV
i. Reliance Defence has inked a pact with Israel's Rafael Advanced Defence System.
ii. The pact will help India for specialised areas including air- to-air missiles that will oversee projects worth USD 10 billion in ten years.
iii. Joint venture company will be located at Pithampur, Indore in Madhya Pradesh.
iv. The project will have an initial capital outlay of more than Rs 1,300 crore.

2. P SUSHEELA MOHAN ENTERS INTO GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS
i. Renowned playback singer P Susheela Mohan has been recognized by the Guinness World Records and Asia Book of Records.
ii. She is known for singing the most number of songs in Indian languages.
iii. She singed 17,695 songs in 12 Indian languages.

3. PM NARENDRA MODI UNVEILS ASIA’S LARGEST OPTICAL TELESCOPE ARIES AT NAINITAL
i. Asia’s largest and first of its kind optical telescope Aryabhatta Research Institute of Observational Sciences was unveiled at Devasthal in Nainital District, Uttrakahnd.
ii. It was remotely activated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Belgian Pm Charles Michel
iii. Aries telescope was joint collaborative technological effort between Indian and Belgian scientists.
iv. It will help in the study and exploration of planets, starts, magnetic field and astronomical debris.

4. 13TH INDIA-EU SUMMIT HELD IN BRUSSELS
i. The 13th India and European Union Summit was held on 30 March 2016 in Brussels, Belgium.
ii. In the summit India was represented by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
iii. The European Union was represented by Donald Tusk at the 13th India-EU Summit
iv. The main issues discussed are:
a.    The leaders endorsed the EU-India Agenda for Action 2020 a concrete road-map for the EU-India Strategic Partnership for the next five years.
b.   The European Investment Bank agreed to extend 450 million Euros in loan for the construction of the first metro line in Lucknow.
c.    The EIB gave its nod to set up the Bank’s regional representation for South Asia in New Delhi.
d.   India-EU Water Partnership  to enhance cooperation on environment issues, including on the ‘Clean India' and ‘Clean Ganga’ flagship programmes.

5. EIB ANNOUNCED LOAN OF 33 BILLION RUPEES FOR LUCKNOW METRO
i. European Investment Bank  announced that it will invest 33 billion rupees  for the first metro line in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
ii. This investment will be EIB’s largest ever financing in India.
iii. European Investment Bank is the European Union's bank owned by and representing the interests of the European Union Member States.

6. ADB LOWERS INDIA’S GROWTH FORECAST TO 7.4 % FOR 2016-17
i. The Asian Development Bank has lowered India’s growth forecast to 7.4% from an earlier estimate of 7.6% for the current financial year.
ii. This is mainly due to the failure of the government to push through the Goods and Services Tax and the Land and Labour Reforms.
iii. It also forecasted India is one of the fastest growing large economies in the world

iv. It also Forecasted India’s gross domestic product will grow to 7.8% for the fiscal year to March 2018.

1. PM REACHES BRUSSELS FOR INDIA-EU SUMMIT
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Brussels  under  his three-nation tour  to Belgium, the US and Saudi Arabia.
ii. During the visit Modi will attend the India-EU summit and the global nuclear security summit in the US.

2. INDIA RANKS THIRD GLOBALLY IN FINANCIAL TROJAN INFECTIONS
i. India ranks third among countries with high number of financial Trojan infections.
ii. Earlier India was at 5th position in 2014 and now the rank is improved after global detections have reduced.
iii. Financial Trojans is used to defraud customers of online banking services.

3. ARUN JAITLEY LAUNCHES 'MAKE IN INDIA' CONFERENCE IN SYDNEY
i. Finance Minister Arun Jaitley has launched Make in India conference in Sydney.
ii. The main purpose of the launch is to promote make in India.
iii. He said for two consecutive years Indai will be the fastest growing economy in the world.

4. 112 WOULD BE THE NATIONAL EMERGENCY NUMBER IN INDIA
i. 112 would be the default emergency response number for any situation in India.
ii. Already   100 is the emergency number to contact police, then 101 is for fire emergency, 102 is for health emergency and 108 is for emergency situation related to disasters.
iv. All these services are regulated by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India for providing immediate help to public.

5. MANOHAR PARRIKAR FLAGED OFF INDIA’S FIRST INDIGENOUS SONAR DOME
i. India’s first indigenous sonar dome a ship was today flagged off by Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.
ii. It is manufactured by a Defence and Research Development Organisation.
iii. It is a huge contribution by Indian Industry to the ‘Make in India’ movement
iv. Anti-submarine warfare ships have a sonar array fitted to the ship structure below the waterline.
v. It functions as the ship’s underwater eyes and ears.
vi. The sonar dome is a structure fitted over the sonar array so that its electronics and sensors are not exposed to surrounding hostile environment.

6. GOVERNMENT PERMITS 100% FDI IN ONLINE MARKETPLACES
i. The government permitted 100% FDI in the marketplace format of e-commerce retailing with a view to attract more foreign investors.
ii. Presently, global online retailer giants like Amazon and ebay are operating online marketplaces in India.
iii. The government is promoting FDI for attracting maximum money from foreign investors.

7. REGISTRATION OF 22 NBFCS HAS BEEN CANCELLED BY RBI
i. The Reserve Bank of India has cancelled registration of 22 non-banking financial companies including Amazan Capital and Mascot Commerce.
ii. The registration of these NBFCs is canceled under Section 45-IA (6) of the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934.

iii. Earlier RBI had canceled registration of six other NBFCs for not following RBI’s policies under the RBI act 1934 for not following RBI’s policies.
