1. RAILWAYS FLAGS OFF 1ST TIME-TABLED FREIGHT TRAIN
i. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has flagged off India's first timetabled freight train, named ‘Cargo Express’, from Delhi to Bengaluru.
ii. The move aims to reduce the delay and uncertainty over the time schedule for delivery of goods.
iii. Earlier passenger trains in the country used to get preference over goods trains for transportation across busy routes.

2.  HRD MINISTER SMRITI IRANI LAUNCHES VIDYANJALI IN NEW DELHI
i. Human Resource Development Minister Smriti Irani has launched Vidyanjali, a school volunteer programme in New Delhi.
ii. Vidyanjali is an initiative under Padhe Bharat Badhe Bharat.
iii. The  main aim is to enhance community and private sector involving government-run elementary schools across the country.
iv. Vidyanjali will help to bring change in the quality of education in schools.

3. 3,049 PEOPLE PERFORM LARGEST KARMA DANCE IN MADHYA PRADESH ENTERS GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS
i. During the recent event in District Mandla of Madhya Pradesh 3,049 people performed largest karma dance.
ii. The Karma dance is entered in Guinness book of world records for performing largest Karma Naach dance ever.
iii. The people took part in the dance to celebrate the culture and history of the Gond tribes of central India.

4.  KIRAN BEDI LAUNCHES A MOBILE APP TO HELP SENIOR CITIZENS IN DISTRESS
i. The “HelpAge SOS App’’ was launched by Lieutenant Governor Kiran Bedi.
ii. The app provides for an SOS-Save our Seniors button to immediately reach to the counsellor desk of Help Age for rendering emergency help and assistance.
iii. It has 24x7 functionality and aims at helping elders in distress at any given time.
iv. The App will provide one-click emergency services to senior citizens.

i. Russia's new Project 22220 nuclear-powered icebreaker dubbed Arktika was launched .

i. Canadian poet and novelist Margaret Atwood was awarded the 2016 PEN Pinter Prize.

iii. The PEN Pinter Prize is an annual literary award launched in honour of the late Nobel Literature Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter.

1.  SBI, CAIXABANK INK PACT TO FUND INDO-SPANISH JOINT VENTURES
i. State Bank of India  and Spain's CaixaBank have inked pact to provide loans to Indo-Spanish joint ventures and local enterprises.
ii. The countries have signed the Mou to enhance business synergies.
iii. The banks will also cooperate through an introduction of business opportunities and partnering on possible infrastructure funds.
iv. Under this programme the banks will collaborate in areas of mutual interest such as syndicated loan business, guarantee transactions, trade finance and export credit agency finance, infrastructure finance and networking services.

2. BIHAR CHIEF MINISTER NITISH KUMAR LAUNCHED CHILD LABOUR TRACKING SYSTEM
i. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has inaugurated 'Child Labour Tracking System '.
ii. The system is launched in order to keep a track of rescued child labour for their proper rehabilitation

i. Israel has been elected to chair a UN committee for the first time in the world body's 71-year history.

4. INDIAN MEN'S 4X400M RELAY TEAM BREAKS 18-YEAR-OLD NATIONAL RECORD
i. The Indian men's 4x400m relay team has created a new national record, clocking 3:02.17 at the International Sprint and Relay Teams Cup at Erzurum, Turkey.
ii. The team improved the previous record of 3:02.62 set at the 1998 Asian Games in Bangkok.
iii. The 4×400 metres relay or long relay is an athletics track event in which teams consist of four runners who each complete 400 metres or one lap.

i. DBS Bank India, has announced the appointment of Mr. Niraj Mittal as the Managing Director and Head of Institutional Banking for the country.

6. PETER THOMSON ELECTED AS THE PRESIDENT OF 71ST SESSION OF UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY
i. Fijian diplomat Peter Thomson has been elected as the President of 71st session of United Nations General Assembly.
ii. In the secret ballot election for the post, Peter Thomson defeated Andreas Mavroyiannis of Cyprus by 94 to 90 votes, with one abstention.
iii. Thomson will replace incumbent President Mogens Lykketoft.

7. INDIA SET FOR THE MAIDEN SHOW AT U17 FUTSAL WORLD CUP
i. India are set to make their maiden appearance in the Under 17 Futsal World Cup next month.
ii. The competition, among futsal's biggest global events, is to be held from July 11-20 in Paraguay, with India one among a total of 12 competing countries.

1. PRESIDENT MUKHERJEE RECEIVES THE HIGHEST CIVILIAN AWARD OF IVORY COAST
i. President Pranab Mukherjee has been awarded the highest civilian award of Ivory Coast, 'the National Grand Crois’.
ii. The award was given on his  two days visit to Ivory Coast on the second leg of his three-nation African tour.
iii. It is the first ever high-level visit from India to Ivory Coast.

2. CABINET APPROVES SBI TAKEOVER OF UNITS
i. A cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the takeover by State Bank of India of several subsidiaries.
ii. SBI wants to take over five units as well as state-run Bharatiya Mahila Ban\
iii. This is the first move to consolidate the country's struggling public sector banks.

3. INDIA TO PROVIDE RS 48 MILLIONN AID FOR COLLEGE BUILDING IN NEPAL
i. India has pledged a financial assistance of Rs 48.84 million to Nepal for the construction of a college building in the capital Kathmandu.
ii. The ambassador of India to Nepal Ranjit Rae laid the foundation stone of the building the Campus in Kathmandu district.
iii. The campus building is constructed with financial aid from India and the project is being implemented through District Development Committee of Kathmandu.

4. JAL MARG VIKAS PROJECT ON RIVER GANGA TO ENABLE COMMERCIAL NAVIGATION
i. Jal Marg Vikas is a project on the river Ganga that is being developed between Allahabad and Haldia to cover a distance of 1620 kilometers.
ii. The project is being implemented with technical and investment support from World Bank.
iii. It envisages the development of a fairway with three metres depth which would enable commercial navigation of at least 1500 ton vessels on the river.
iv. The construction of multimodal terminals, jetties, river information system, channel marking, navigational lock, river training and conservancy works are to be undertaken as part of the project.

5. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES SCHEME FOR SETTING UP 1000 MW CTU- CONNECTED WIND POWER PROJECT
i. The Union Ministry of New and Renewable Energy has launched a scheme for setting up of 1000 Mega Watt  Wind Power Project connected to transmission network of Central Transmission Utility
ii. The objective of the scheme is to facilitate the supply of wind power to the non-windy states at a price discovered through the transparent bidding process.

6. DCB BANK LAUNCHES AADHAAR ENABLED ATM IN BENGALURU
i. DCB Bank has launched Bengaluru's first ATM that accepts Aadhaar number and Aadhaar fingerprint (biometric) instead of ATM/Debit Card and PIN to dispense cash.
ii. The "cardless and PIN less" ATM was launched by former Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India, Nandan Nilekani.
iii. The Bank pilot launched India's first aadhaar based ATM in Mumbai.
