1. BRICS YOUTH SUMMIT, 2016 HELD IN GUWAHATI
i. The 2016 BRICS Youth Summit held in Guwahati, Assam.
ii. The theme of the 2nd youth summit was “Youth as bridge for Intra-BRICS Exchanges”.
iii.The summit concluded with certain recommendations:
a.       To  Create and strengthen apprenticeship programmes in the existing BRICS institutions
b.      To  Facilitate transfer of skills between mentors and mentees among the BRICS nations
c.       To Ensure access to decent jobs for youth across the BRICS nations
d.      To  Facilitate cross-learning to access opportunities for leadership development.
iv.The 1st BRICS Youth Summit was held in Kazan, Russia in 2015.

2. 1ST MEETING OF BRICS WORKING GROUP ON ENERGY SAVING AND ENERGY EFFICIENCY BEGINS IN VISAKHAPATNAM
i. The first meeting of the BRICS Working Group on Energy Saving and Energy Efficiency began in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.
ii. The two day conference will be attended by all 5 member BRICS countries.
iii. India being BRICS chair for 2016 has organised this event in order to shape and steer the BRICS agenda.
iv.The meeting will deliberate a work plan on development of cooperation in energy saving and energy efficiency with BRICS.
v.India will also showcase its efforts in energy saving, energy efficiency, in particular the LED street lighting programme.

3. NATIONAL DOCTORS’ DAY 2016 OBSERVED ACROSS INDIA
i.The 2016 National Doctors’ Day was observed on 1 July 2016 across India.
ii.The day is observed to honour legendary physician, Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy whose birth and death anniversary falls on the same day.
iii.The National Doctors’ Day gives an opportunity to raise the awareness about the doctor’s role in daily life.

4. KERALA GOVERNMENT DECIDED TO BAN 'ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES'
i. Kerala government banned 'electronic cigarette'.
ii. It was banned in view of studies claiming that its use can cause various health issues, including cancer and heart ailments.
iii.The government  issued an order banning the production, sale and advertisement of 'electronic cigarette' alias 'e-cigarette'.
iv. Kerala became the fourth Indian state to ban e-cigarettes.
v. Punjab became the 1st state to ban then Maharashtra and Karnataka.

5. INDIA RANKS 35TH IN 2016 LOGISTICS PERFORMANCE INDEX
i. In the recently released bi-annual Logistics Performance Index  of World Bank Group, India ranked 35th among 160 countries.
ii.The index was published in the World Bank bi-annual report ‘Connecting to Compete 2016: Trade Logistics in the Global Economy’.
iii.Germany has topped in the list For the third time followed by Luxembourg and Sweden (

iv.India has improved its ranking by jumping 19 positions compared to 54th rank in 2014

1. SAMEER EMERGES FASTEST ATHLETE OF 56TH NATIONAL INTER-STATE ATHLETICS

i. Sameer Mon, the veteran sprinter of India, won gold in 100 meter dash in 10.60 seconds at the 56th National Inter-state Senior Athletics Championships in Hyderabad.
ii. He became the fastest athlete in the country.
iii. He was a member of the bronze winning Indian 4x100m relay quartet in Delhi Commonwealth Games.

2. PRIME MINISTER NARENDRA MODI'S ADDRESS 'MANN KI BAAT' TO BE BROADCAST IN BANGLADESH
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi radio programme ‘Mann Ki Baat’ will now also be telecast to Bangladesh.
ii.The programme which reaches crores of people in real time featuring PM Modi talking on various subjects related to social, economic and political  which have international audience soon.
iii. The purpose behind this soft diplomacy is to strengthen bilateral ties and break the stranglehold of Pakistani and Chinese radio channels in the neighbouring country.

3. MINISTRY GRANTS RECOGNITION TO PARALYMPIC COMMITTEE OF INDIA
i. The Sports Ministry has announced that it has granted recognition to the Paralympic Committee of India.
ii.It will give a huge confidence boost to the several para-athletes who have qualified for Rio Paralympics.
iii. The International Paralympic Committee announced temporary lifting of suspension imposed on the national body last year

4.  MAHARASHTRA TARGET OF PLANTING 2 CRORE TREES IN STATE CROSSED
i. Maharashtra government started an initiative for plantation of about 2 crores trees
ii. The campaign will benefit the environment as well as also counter problem of soil-erosion, help the wild animals in their growth.

5. INDIA JUMPS 19 PLACES ON WORLD BANK LOGISTICS PERFORMANCE INDEX
i. India improved its ranking in the World Bank group's bi-annual "Logistics Performance Index 2016", jumping from 54th in 2014 to 35th in 2016.
ii. This was announced by the World Bank Group in its recent launch of the report.
iii. In the latest ranking India has gone past countries like New Zealand, Thailand, Saudi Arabia, Iceland, Latvia and Indonesia who were ahead of it in the index.
iv.India's jump of 19 positions in the ranking demonstrates the commitment of various Ministries and agencies of Government of India to make it easy to do business in India.

6. STATE BANK OF INDIA LAUNCHES TWO NEW DIGITAL OFFERINGS
i. The country's largest lender State Bank of India has launched 2 new digital offerings on the occasion of 61st State Bank Day.
ii. SBI has partnered with Flipkart to offer its consumers the facility of pre-approved EMI Facility on purchases. Under this partnership SBI will provide overdraft facility to pre-qualified set of customers for transacting on Flipkart for a minimum purchase of Rs. 5000.
iii. The bank also launched a social media banking platform for Facebook and Twitter users, called ‘SBI Mingle’ which will help the customers with a host of banking services on their social media accounts, at their own convinience.

7.  RAPID RURAL POLICE RESPONSE SYSTEM LAUNCHED IN PUNJAB
i. A Rapid Rural Police Response System was launched across Punjab to ensure prompt and effective police response in the state's over 12,000 villages.
ii. Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, who launched the scheme, also flagged off 400 new motorcycles and 220 new Bolero jeeps under the new system.
iii. Under the system, police will respond to any crime or law and order situation within 20 minutes of it being reported.

1. RAILWAY MINISTER SURESH PRABHU LAUNCHES NIVARAN PORTAL
i. Suresh Prabhakar Prabhu Minister of Railways  has launched "NIVARAN portal" an online system.
ii.The system is launched for redressal of service related grievance of serving and former railway employees.
iii. Nivaran portal is an online system that will facilitate the employees to lodge their grievances and also monitor the progress.

2. TEJAS INDIGENOUSLY BUILT AIRCRAFT INDUCTED INTO IAF
i. The Indian Air Force inducted the first squadron of the indigenously made Light Combat Aircraft Tejas.
ii. The Tejas a multi-role supersonic single-engine aircraft designed and developed by the Aeronautical Development Agency in collaboration with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited

3. SBI LAUNCHED DIGITAL VILLAGE PROGRAMME
i. Balal village in Kasargode district in Kerala is one of the 21 villages selected across the country by the State Bank of India under the SBI Digital Village initiative.
ii.The programme is  launched by the SBI Chairperson on State Bank Day on 1st July.
ii. The objective of the initiative is to popularise digital banking in rural areas.

4.  WORLD FAMOUS FUTURIST, WRITER ALWIN TOFFLER DIES AT 87
i. Alvin Toffler the Famous author of Future Shock, passed away in United States.
ii. Alvin Toffler was known for his works discussing modern technologies.
iii.His works included the digital revolution and the communication revolution with emphasis on their effects on cultures worldwide.

5. INDIA’S FIRST INTEGRATED DEFENCE COMMUNICATION NETWORK LAUNCHED
i. India's first integrated defence communication network was launched.
ii.It will enable the army, air force, navy and the Special Forces Command to share situational awareness for a faster decision-making process.
iii. The Defence Communication Network is a strategic, highly secure and scalable system, has a pan-India reach from Ladakh to the North East to island territories.

6.  GURPREET SINGH SANDHU AGAIN, BECOMES FIRST INDIAN TO FEATURE IN EUROPA LEAGUE
i. Indian goalkeeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu was named in Norwegian club Stabaek FC's squad for their Europa League.
ii.He became the first from India to play in the continental competition.

ii. In 2014, he became the first Indian to start a first team match in a top-division league of Europe.
