1. DUMPING DUTY IMPOSED ON PTA IMPORTS FROM 5 COUNTRIES
i. The Finance Ministry has imposed anti-dumping duty on purified terephthalic acid imports from China, Taiwan, Iran, Indonesia and Malaysia.
 ii. Anti-dumping duty is a protectionist tariff that a domestic government imposes on foreign imports
iii. When it believes imported goods are priced below fair market value.
iv. Purified terephthalic acid is a white, free flowing crystalline powder which is known as the primary raw material for the manufacture of polyester chips.
 v. It is used in a number of applications in textiles, packaging, consumer goods ,furnishings, resins and coatings is called as Purified Terephthalic Acid.

2. UNION GOVERNMENT CONSTITUTES CYBER CELL
i. The Union Ministry of Women and Child Development is taking measures to protect women and children from harassment and trolling on social media platforms.
ii. Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi announced a cyber cell in New Delhi
iii. The WCD Ministry has advised women and children to send their complaints, if they are being abused or harassed on social media platforms using the hashtag #IamTrolledHelp.

3. PORTUGAL WIN EURO 2016 FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP
i. Portugal defeated France by 1-0 to won their first ever EURO championship at Saint-Denis in Paris.
ii. This was the 15th UEFA European Championship, the quadrennial international men's football championship of Europe organised by UEFA.

4. WORLD POPULATION DAY IS OBSERVED ON JULY 11
i. The World Population Day is observed on July 11 to put attention on the urgency and importance of population issue.
ii. The theme of the day is “Investing in teenage girls”.
iii. It focuses on the empowerment of teenage girls.

5. 51ST JNANPITH AWARD CONFERRED ON GUJARATI WRITER DR. RAGHUVEER CHAUDHARI
i. President Pranab Mukherjee conferred the 51st Jnanpith Award on renowned Gujarati writer and litterateur Dr. Raghuveer Chaudhari .
ii. He was awarded with the India’s highest literary honour carrying a cash prize, a citation plaque and a bronze replica of Goddess Saraswati for the year 2015.
iii. Jnanpith Award is India’s highest literary honour.
iv. Its name has been taken from Sanskrit words Jnana and Pitha which means knowledge-seat.

6. FIRST WOMAN CHIEF JUSTICE OF NEPAL SUSHILA KARKI TAKES OATH
i. Sushila Karki has become the first woman Chief Justice of Nepal.
ii. The oath was administered by President Bidya Devi Bhandari.
iii. She is Known for her zero tolerance against corruption in the judiciary.

7. WINNERS OF 2016 WIMBLEDON CHAMPIONSHIPS OF TENNIS
i. The 2016 Wimbledon Championships was a tennis tournament held from 27 June to 10 July 2016.

1. NATO SUMMIT BEGINS IN WARSAW
i. The NATO summit has been started in Warsaw, Poland.
ii. The leaders of the 28 NATO Allies and many partner nations will participate to enhance the Alliance’s security by strengthening its defence, and projecting stability beyond its borders.
iii. NATO leaders will discuss key security topics issues such as continuing support for Afghan forces, defeating Islamic State militants.

2. NIRMALA SITHARAMAN TO LEAD BUSINESS DELEGATION TO RUSSIA
i. Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will lead a delegation of over 110 Indian companies that will showcase their engineering prowess at a trade fair in Russia.
ii. India is the partner country for 'INNOPROM 2016', which is the largest annual international industrial trade fair of Russia.

3. KERALA GOVERNMENT IMPOSES 14.5 PER CENT FAT TAX ON JUNK FOOD
i. The Kerala government has announced its decision to impose 14.5 per cent tax on junk food.
ii. The ‘Fat Tax’ imposed on such food items will make food items like burgers, pizzas, pasta costlier.
iii. The need for the so-called ‘fat tax’ is explained by the fact the state currently has the second-highest obesity rate for children in India.

i. Radhika Menon will become the first woman in the world to receive the Award for Exceptional Bravery at Sea from the International Maritime Organisation .

iii. Five year ago, she became the first woman captain of the Indian Merchant Navy.

1. BRICS DRUG CONTROL MEETING BEGINS IN NEW DELHI
i. The second anti-drug working group meeting of heads of anti-narcotics agencies of BRICS countries began in New Delhi.
ii. The is held to discuss issues related to narco-terrorism and money laundering.
iii. The one day meeting was inaugurated Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

2. UNION GOVERNMENT LAUNCHED NATIONAL GREEN HIGHWAYS MISSION
i. Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways and Shipping Nitin Gadkari  launched the National Green Highways Mission in New Delhi.
ii. Under this initiative, plantation drive on 1500 km of National Highways was launched at a cost of about 300 crore rupees.
iii. It was launched under the Green Highways Policy that was unveiled in September 2015 to actualize the vision of developing eco-friendly and green National Highways.

3. DIPA KARMAKAR NAMED WORLD CLASS GYMNAST BY INTERNATIONAL GYMNASTICS FEDERATION
i. Indian gymnast Dipa Karmakar was named a ‘Gymnaste de Classe Mondaile’  by the International Gymnastics Federation .
ii. She became the first-ever Indian gymnast to receive the honour.
iii. She is an Indian artistic gymnast from Agartala, Tripura.
iv. She  became the first female Indian gymnast ever to secure an Olympic berth by garnering a total score of 52.698 points.

4. NASSCOM UNVEILS INDIA’S FIRST CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE ON INTERNET OF THINGS
i. The National Association of Software and Services Companies  unveiled India’s first Centre of Excellence focused on Internet of Things  at its Startup Warehouse in Bengaluru.
ii. The centre was launched in a bid to encourage start-ups to come up with tech solutions centred on Internet of Things.

5. UNION CABINET APPROVES INTEREST SUBVENTION SCHEME FOR FARMERS
i. The Union Cabinet approved the Interest Subvention Scheme for farmers for the year 2016-17.
ii. The Government has assigned a sum of 18276 crore rupees for the purpose.
iii. The scheme will help farmers getting short term crop loan payable within one year up to 3 lakhs rupees at only 4% per annum.

1. PM MODI REACHES MOZAMBIQUE ON THE FOUR-NATION TOUR
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Maputo, the capital of Mozambique today.
ii. This is the first official visit of the Prime Minister to Mainland Africa.
iii. PM modi  is on a trip to Mozambique, South Africa, Tanzania, and Kenya.
iv. The focus of the African tour will be on deepening cooperation in areas of hydrocarbons, maritime security, defence technology, maritime co-operation, trade and investment.

2. THE GOI CONSTITUTE A COMMITTEE TO EXAMINE DESIRABILITY AND FEASIBILITY OF NEW FY
i. The Finance Ministry of Government of India has constituted a four members committee to examine the feasibility and desirability of having a new financial year.
ii. The Committee will examine the merits and demerits of various dates for the commencement of the financial year including the existing date April to March, taking into account the various relevant factors.
iii. The Committee has been given time till 31st December 2016 to submit its Report.
iv. The Committee will be headed by Dr. Shankar Acharya former Chief Economic Adviser.

3. SBI CARD LAUNCHES PREMIUM CREDIT CARD 'ELITE'
i. SBI Cards and Payment Services  the third-largest card issuer by number has launched a premium credit card 'Elite'.
ii. Elite is a bundle of several privileges and benefits for high net worth individuals.
iii. The 'Elite' card is launched on the Master Card World platform which is enabled with Near Field Communication technology.
iv. This allows customers a contactless payment experience, adding more speed and save to their wallets.

4. S K KOHLI APPOINTED CHIEF DEFENCE ACCOUNTS AUDITOR
i. Senior bureaucrat S K Kohli has been appointed as Controller General of Defence Accounts .
ii. The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved Kohli's empanelment for promotion to the post of CGDA.
iii. The CGDA is mandated to audit, payment and accounting of all charges pertaining to the armed forces, including bills for supplies and services rendered.
