1. 7 INDIAN COMPANIES ON 2016 FORTUNE 500 LIST
i. The 2016 Fortune 500 list of the world's biggest firms was released and the list is topped by retail giant Walmart.
ii. Seven Indian companies were featured in the list with Indian Oil Corporation  ranked highest at 161st rank with revenues of 54.7 billion US dollars.
iii. The list was topped by Walmart followed by State Grid at Second place and China National Petroleum at the third place.
iv. India in 2016 Fortune 500 list:
a.       Indian Oil Corp ranked highest in India but in world at 161st  place followed by Reliance Industries at 215,Tata Motors Ltd at 226th
b.      State Bank of India   came fourth after Tata Motors to occupy the 232nd rank.
c.       Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd ranked at 358th rank and Hindustan Petroleum Corp at 367th rank

2. ECI LAUNCHED NATIONAL ELECTORAL ROLL PURIFICATION 2016
i. The Election Commission of India has announced the launch of National Electoral Roll Purification 2016 programme across the country.
ii. The programme was launched to improve health of Electoral Rolls and to optimize the Polling Station location and area across the country.
iii. The motto of ECI for the year 2016 is No voter to be left behind.

3. BCCI CONDUCTS ‘ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION SKILLS’
i. The Board of Control for Cricket in India has organised a course for umpires on English language and communication skills.
ii. The course has been designed by the British Council along with the International Cricket Council.
iii. It is aimed at equipping the match officials with communication skills.

4. UNION CABINET APPROVES INCORPORATION OF SAGARMALA DEVELOPMENT COMPANY
i. The Union Cabinet has approved the incorporation of Sagarmala Development Company  to give a start to port-led economic development under  Sagarmala project.
ii. SDC will be incorporated under the Companies Act, 2013, with an initial authorized share capital of 1,000 crore rupees.
iii. Sagarmala  Project  launched with a view to achieve the broad objective of promoting port-led economic development in India.
iv. The Project seeks to harness vast potential of India’s 7,500 km long coastline, 14,500 km of potentially navigable waterways, and strategic location on key international maritime trade routes.

5. ROHIT KHANDELWAL BECOMES FIRST INDIAN TO WIN MR. WORLD TITLE
i. Rohit Khandelwal has become the first Indian to win the title of Mr. in England.
ii. He defeated 47 other contestants from across the globe to bag the title.

6. NITI AAYOG & INTEL INDIA SIGN SOI TO KICK-OFF ATAL TINKERING LAB INITIATIVE FOR YOUNG INNOVATORS
i. NITI Aayog and Intel India sign Statement of Intent to start Atal Tinkering Laboratories  Initiative for Young Innovators as a part of its flagship programme the Atal Innovation Mission .
ii. The aim of setting up Atal Tinkering Laboratories is to build relevant skill sets among youngsters and to provide access to technology that will enable solutions.
iii. The Atal Tinkering Labs that will be established in schools all across the country with the technical support of Intel Technology India Pvt. Ltd.

1. GOVT ALLOCATES RS 22,915 CR CAPITAL TO 13 PSU BANKS FOR FY17
i. The government has allocated Rs 22,915 crore capital to meet the capitalization needs of 13 Public Sector Banks in the current fiscal.
ii. The fund is approved under Indradhanush initiative, aimed at restoring banking sector health.
ii. The maximum capital infusion will be for State Bank of India  at Rs 7,575 crore and the least for Allahabad Bank at Rs 44 crore.

2. PARLIAMENT PASSES REGIONAL CENTRE FOR BIOTECHNOLOGY BILL, 2016
i. The Parliament has passed the Regional Centre for Biotechnology Bill, 2016.
ii. The bill will establish a Regional Centre for Biotechnology, an institution of education, training and research.
iii. The help will be provided by United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in the National Capital Region.
iii. The Regional Centre is to provide knowledge by providing teaching and research facilities in biotechnology and related fields.

3. THE GOVERNMENT APPROVED RS. 28,000 CR RELEASED UNDER MGNREGA
i. The Centre has released more than Rs. 28,000 crore to States under MGNREGA .
ii. Under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act funds are released to the States on the basis of agreed to labour budget and performance of the States.
iii. It is a social security measure that aims to guarantee the 'right to work'.
iv. It aims to provide at least 100 days of wage employment in a financial year to every household whose adult members volunteer to do unskilled manual work

ii. The resignation was accepted with immediate effect by Rajya Sabha Chairman Hamid Ansari.
iii. The cricketer-turned-politician wife Navjot Kaur Sidhu, a member of the Punjab Legislative Assembly, is Chief Parliamentary Secretary in the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BJP government.

6. UNION CABINET APPROVES MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND SWITZERLAND FOR COOPERATION IN SKILL DEVELOPMENT
i. The Union Cabinet has given its approval for a Memorandum of Understanding  signed between India and Switzerland for cooperation in skill development.
ii. Decision in this regard was taken in the Union Cabinet Meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi.
iii. The agreement seeks to biuld capacity building and exchange of best practices in the area of skill development between both countries.

7. STEVE ELWORTHY APPOINTED MANAGING DIRECTOR OF 2019 WORLD CUP
i. Steve Elworthy, the former South Africa fast bowler was appointed the Managing Director  of the 2019 World Cup, which will be held in England and Wales.
ii. He  will oversee the lead-up and running of the 2019 World Cup as well as the Champions Trophy and Women's World Cup.
iii. The Champions Trophy and Women's World Cup will be hosted by the England and Wales Cricket Board in 2017.

1. COMMERCE MINISTRY STARTED E-MARKETPLACE FOR GOODS PROCUREMENT
i. The Commerce Ministry has launched an e-marketplace for online purchase of goods and services by various central government ministries and departments.
ii. It is aimed to bring more transparency and streamlining the government procurement of goods and services.

2. DELHI CM LAUNCHES LIVE INTERACTIVE PROGRAMME TALKTOAK
i. Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal has launched a live interactive programme, titled 'TalkToAK'.
ii. The  programme is aimed at directly engaging with the Delhiites, where people from across the country can ask him questions over the phone, by sending text messages and through social media.
