BAHMANI KINGDOM
·         Bahmani Kingdom was a parallel kingdom north of Vijayanagar in the same period.
·         It was founded in 1347 by Allaudin Hassan who claimed himself to be descendent of a famous Iranian Royal family and assumed title of ‘Bahman Shah
·         He also had a Brahmin Guru, Gangu, hence he is also known as ‘Hassan Gangu’
·         He made his capital in Gulbarga in Karnataka.

The important kings who expanded and consolidated the Bahmani Kingdom were:
1. Taj-ud-din Firoz Shah Bahman (1397-1422):
·         He was educated and learned man and knew many languages.
·         He built astronomical observatory in Daulatabad.
·         He married daughter of Dev Raya I and was later defeated by him.
·         He was succeeded by his brother Ahmad Shah.

2. Ahmad Shah (1422-1435):
·         Also known as Wali as he was treated as Sufi Saint.
·         He shifted the capital from Gulbarga to Bidar
·         A famous north Indian saint Gesu Daraz (Long Haired), a saint of Chisti Silsila, visited during this period.

1. MOON CAME CLOSE TO EARTH AFTER 1948
i. The moon arrived at its closest point to the Earth since 1948.
ii. The 'supermoon' reached its brightest in Asia on 14 November 2016.
iii. The Moon was closest, only 2 lakh 21 thousand 524 miles .

2. RBI SETS UP PANEL TO OVERSEE ATM RECALIBRATIONS
i. RBI will set up a task force under Deputy Governor SS Mundra to oversee recalibration of ATM machines after the country introduced new banknotes to replace old 500 rupee and 1,000 rupee notes.
 ii. The Panel will provide "direction and guidance" for recalibrating ATM machines to dispense the new notes.

3. PRESIDENT MUKHERJEE INAUGURATES THE INDIA INTERNATIONAL TRADE FAIR IN DELHI
i. President Pranab Mukherjee has inaugurated the India International Trade Fair at Pragati Maidan, New delhi which will see participation of over 150 companies from 27 countries.
ii. The theme of the year is 'Digital India'.

4. THIRUVANANTHAPURAM BECOMES COUNTRY'S 'BREAST CANCER CAPITAL'
i. Thiruvananthapuram has been termed as the country's breast cancer capital, with cases at a record high of 40 per lakh of population.
ii. 9 lakh women are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.
iii. The revelation was made during the Kerala Chapter of Indian Radiological and Imaging Association Conference.

5. INDIA'S FIRST CHERRY BLOSSOM FESTIVAL STARTS IN MEGHALAYA
i. Meghalaya became the first state to start India's first Cherry Blossom Festival, which is widely celebrated in Japan.
ii. The four-day festival will also provide opportunities to showcase the unique beauty of pink and white cherry blossoms as well as Meghalaya's traditional arts, culture and cuisine to the naturalists and tourists.

6. GOLFER CHAWRASIA WINS FIRST ASIAN TOUR TITLE OUTSIDE INDIA
i. Indian golfer SSP Chawrasia clinched the $1 million Resorts World Manila Masters in the Philippines, his first ever Asian Tour title outside India.

ii. Chawrasia beat Malaysian Nicolas Fung and American Sam Chen on the final day of the tournament.

1. CHILDREN'S DAY OBSERVED ON 14 NOVEMBER
i. On 14th November, Children’s Day is celebrated every year to mark the birth anniversary of our first Prime Minister Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru.
ii. Pandit Nehru had a great love for children. He wanted to be among them, talk to them and play with them.
iii. The children also loved and respected him and called him CHACHA NEHRU.

2. WORLD DIABETES DAY OBSERVED ON 14 NOVEMBER
i .The World Diabetes Day is observed across the world on 14 November.
ii. The theme for this year is "Eyes on Diabetes".
iii. It is celebrated every year on 14 November and engages millions of people worldwide in diabetes advocacy and awareness.

3. YES BANK APPOINTS AMRESH ACHARYA AS HEAD GLOBAL INDIAN BANKING
i. Private sector lender YES Bank has appointed Amresh Acharya as Group President and Head of Global Indian Banking.
ii. The YES Bank is the only Greenfield Bank license awarded by the RBI in the last two decades, associated with the finest pedigree investors.

4. APEC FORUM'S WEEK STARTS IN LIMA, PERU
i. The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation  Forum's Week started at Lima in Peru .
ii. It will bring together leaders of world's largest economies, businessmen and investors.
iii. The main aim is to create an  Free Trade Area of the Asia-Pacific, which would include all APEC states.

5. FORTUNE MAGAZINE NAMED MARK ZUCKERBERG BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR
i. Fortune magazine has named the co-founder and CEO of the biggest social networking site Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg as Business Person of the Year, 2016.
ii. The 32-year-old Zuckerberg, was honored based on various criteria, including the company’s performance year over year as well as his vision for growth and the ability to achieve it.

1. INDIAN-ORIGIN HUMANITARIAN GETS GLOBAL CITIZEN AWARD
i. An Indian-origin man from South Africa was awarded the Global Citizen Award for his "innovative and visionary" contribution to the global community.
 ii. Imtiaz Sooliman founded the internationally-lauded Gift of the Givers Foundation, which is Africa's largest disaster relief organisation.
iii. "It will build faith and confidence in others to support African NGOs in the future".

2. ISRAEL PRESIDENT ARRIVES IN MUMBAI ON 6-DAY VISIT TO INDIA
i. Israel President Reuven Rivlin arrived in Mumbai on November 14th on a six-day visit to India to further strengthen bilateral ties.
ii. The Israeli leader will join President Pranab Mukherjee in opening an agro-tech conference in Chandigarh.

3. GULZAR NAMED FOR TATA LITFEST'S POET LAUREATE 2016 AWARD
i. Lyricist-writer Gulzar will be honoured with 2016 Tata Literature Live! Poet Laureate Award.
ii. The award will be presented to Gulzar, an Oscar and Grammy Award winner, at the inaugural of the festival.

4. MOLINARI RAIL TO SET UP MANUFACTURING UNIT IN INDIA
i. Swiss major Molinari Rail will set up a manufacturing and assembly centre for auxiliary power units for diesel locomotives in India by next year.
ii. Molinari Rail AG has entered into a strategic pact to design, manufacture and deliver the auxiliary power units  for 1,000 diesel locomotives to be built in India for Indian Railways.

5. ADITI ASHOK MAKES HISTORY BY WINNING THE WOMEN'S INDIAN OPEN
i. Aditi Ashok is an Indian professional golfer who has scripted history by winning the women’s Indian open.
ii. She became the first Indian woman to win a Ladies European Tour title by clinching the Hero Women’s Indian Open.

1. INDIA AND BHUTAN SIGNS AGREEMENT ON TRADE FOR BETTER BILATERAL RELATIONS
i. Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Bhutan's Economic Affairs Minister Tengye Lyonpo Lekey Dorji signed the agreement in New Delhi.
ii. The first agreement on trade and commerce between both countries was signed in 1972.

2. INDIA TO PRESIDE NEXT EDITION OF COP IN GENEVA IN 2018
i. India will preside the eighth edition of the Conference of Parties to WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control which will be held in Switzerland's Geneva in 2018.
ii. Health Secretary CK Mishra has been chosen as the President of the COP Bureau, for the next two years.

3. BATRA 1ST INDIAN TO BE INTERNATIONAL HOCKEY FEDERATION CHIEF
i. Narinder Batra has become the first Indian to be elected the President of the International Hockey Federation.
ii. Batra, who is the president of Hockey India, defeated David Balbirnie of Ireland and Australia's Ken Read to become the 12th FIH President and also the first Asian to grab the post.

4. VANDANA KATARIYA TO CAPTAIN INDIAN WOMEN'S HOCKEY TEAM IN AUSTRALIA SERIES
i. Forward Vandana Katariya will captain Indian senior women's hockey team in the Test Series against Australia to be played at Melbourne from November 23 to November 30.

5. SYDNEY TO HOST INVICTUS GAMES IN 2018
i. Australia will host the 2018 Invictus Games for wounded military personnel, Britain's Prince Harry announced.
ii. More than 500 serving and former personnel from 17 nations will compete in the multi-sports competition in Sydney.
iii. The games have been held in London and Orlando, and are due to be held in Toronto next year.

1. PUNE TO HOST INDIA-CHINA 'HAND-IN-HAND 2016' TRAINING
i. The India and China Joint Training Exercise "Hand in Hand 2016" is scheduled to be held in Pune from November 15-27.
ii. This would mark the 6th annual joint training exercise between the Indian Army and the People's Liberation Army of China.
iii. It is aimed at honing military skills of the two armies by sharing expertise in drills while tackling insurgency and terrorism.

2. IMF APPROVES LARGEST-EVER LOAN FOR A MIDDLE EAST NATION
i. The International Monetary Fund  has approved a three-year $12 billion loan program for Egypt, the largest such package to a Middle East nation.
ii. The loan will help in boosting Egypt’s foreign currency inflows, which have dwindled since the 2011 Arab Spring uprising, and revive the African nation's economy.
iii. Egypt will receive an immediate disbursement of $2.75 billion.

3. CHINESE MINISTER ELECTED INTERPOL PRESIDENT
i. China’s Vice-Minister for Public Security on Thursday was elected the President of the International Criminal Police Organization .
ii. Mr. Meng took over the position from Mireille Ballestrazzi.

4. 5 DECADES AND 200 FILMS LATER, JACKIE CHAN 'FINALLY' WINS OSCARS
i. Hollywood actor Jackie Chan received his little gold statuette, an honorary Oscar for his decades of work in film on November 13th at the annual Governors Awards.

ii. He praised his hometown Hong Kong for making him "proud to be Chinese," and thanked his fans.

1. INDIA, JAPAN SIGN LANDMARK NUCLEAR ENERGY DEAL
i. India on Friday signed a historic civilian nuclear deal with Japan during the annual bilateral summit held in Tokyo.
ii. India is the first non-member of the non-proliferation treaty to have signed such a deal with Japan.
iii. The nuclear deal which will help India access Japan’s nuclear market, had been under negotiation for six years

2. WORLD PNEUMONIA DAY OBSERVED ON 12TH NOVEMBER
i. World Pneumonia Day is observed across the world on 12 November.
ii. The day is annually observed to raise awareness about pneumonia, the world’s leading killer of children under the age of five.
iii. The main aim is to promote interventions to protect against, prevent and treat pneumonia; and generate action to combat pneumonia.
iv. This year theme is, "Keep the Promise, Stop Pneumonia Now".

3. 11-YEAR-OLD PUNE GIRL WINS ‘DOODLE 4 GOOGLE’ 2016 CONTEST
i. 1 year old Pune girl Anvita Prashant Telang has been named national winner of the “Doodle 4 Google” contest.
ii. The Doodle will be featured on the Google India homepage on November 14 to celebrate Children’s Day.

4. VIRAT KOHLI BECAME THE FIRST INDIAN TEST SKIPPER TO BE OUT HIT WICKET SINCE LALA AMARNATH IN 1949.
i. He got hit wicket when his foot disturbed the stumps in the ongoing Rajkot Test against England.
ii. Batting on 40, Kohli went well inside the crease to pull a short ball from spinner Adil Rashid when he dislodged the bails with his foot and got out.

5. INDIAN WOMEN'S TEAM WINS GOLD AT THE 7TH WORLD CARROM CHAMPIONSHIP
i. Indian women’s carrom team defeated Sri Lanka to win the gold at the seventh World carrom championship in Birmingham (UK) on Friday.
ii. India's S Apoorwa and Kajol Kumari also won gold in the women's doubles event.
iii. Meanwhile, the men's team lost to Sri Lanka to win the silver medal in the competition.
