1. VENKAIAH NAIDU INAUGURATES ‘HOMES FOR ALL’ PROPERTY SHOW IN AHMEDABAD

i. Union Minister for Urban Development, Housing and Poverty Alleviation Venkaiah Naidu inagurated the ‘Homes For All’ property.

ii .The show is organized by Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and GIHED CREDAI in Ahmedabad.

iii. On the occasion, Mr. Naidu has launched several smart initiatives such as AMC Seva Mobile Application, Janmitra Card -‘One Card Many Services’, Amdavad Airport Shuttle Service, and Intelligent Transit Management System among others.

iv. The Janmitra card enables multimodal transport journey payments like Transit Services Ticketing for AMTS, BRTS, Payments for Municipal Services, Payment for any other retail transaction.

1. WORLD’S HIGHEST RAIL TRACK SURVEY TO COMMENCE AT LEH

i. Indian Railways will start the final location survey of the 498 km long Bilaspur-Manali-Leh line at Leh in Jammu and Kashmir.

ii. The proposed new rail line will connect all important locations between Bilaspur and Leh namely Sunder Nagar Mandi, Keylong, Manali, Tandi, Koksar, Darcha, Upshi and Karu.

iii. Coming up at a height of 3,300 metres, the strategically important rail project is touted to become the highest rail track in the world, overtaking China’s Qinghai–Tibet Railway.

iv. Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu will inaugurate the work for the final location survey at an estimated cost of Rs 157.77 cr. Survey is funded by the defence ministry and has been entrusted to RITES, a Railways PSU.

2. 135^TH JAGANNATH PURI CHARIOT FESTIVAL BEGINS IN ODISHA

i. The 135^th Jagannath Yatra starts from June 25 and ends on July 3. The end of Yatra is termed as the return cart festival or BahudaJatra.

ii. The Jagannath Yatra festival will be held in Odisha. The Rath Yatra festival is related to Lord Jagannath. According to Hindu calendar, this yatra is celebrated every year on Ashadh Shukla Dwitiya.

iii. The 5000 year old chariot festival marks the return of Lord Krishna to Vrindavan with his brother Balabhadra and sister Subhadra.

iv. This yatra includes three majestic chariots Nandighosa, Taladwaja and Darpadalan.

v. Sudarsan Pattnaik has carved beautiful art on RathYatra of Lord Jagannath at the Puri beach in Odisha with message “Let us all immerse in the spirit of unity & brotherhood”.

1. INDIA’S BIGGEST MUNICIPAL BONDS PROGRAMME LAUNCHED IN MAHARASHTRA

i. Pune Municipal Corporation launched India’s biggest municipal bonds  programme. The project looks to raise Rs 2,264 cr in five years. Union Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu launched the programme at Bombay Stock Exchange.

ii. In its first tranche, the Pune Municipal Corporation raised Rs.200 cr through the Bombay Stock Exchange’s bond trading platform at a coupon rate of 7.59% for 10 years.

iii. The issue received a good response with bonds being over-subscribed by six times.

1. RAILWAYS TO LAUNCH OPERATION SWARN TO REVAMP RAJDHANI, SHATABDI TRAINS

i. The Railway Ministry will launch “Operation Swarn” to improve services in Rajdhani and Shatabdi Express trains. The move has come as a response to repeated complaints of deteriorated services, low quality of food and poor sanitation in these trains.

ii. ‘Operation Swarn’ will be conducted in a phased manner. Under the 1st phase, the Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express and Mumbai-Ahmedabad Shatabdi Express have been selected for upgradation, for which the work will start from September 2017.

ii. An amount of Rs 50 lakh will be allotted to each Shatabdi and Rajdhani train on various routes for the revamp.

1. BANK CREDIT GROWS AT 6.02%, DEPOSITS AT 11.19%

i. According to data released by RBI, Banks’ credit growth grew at 6.02% to Rs 76,58,212 cr in the fortnight ended June 9 from Rs 72,22,939 cr in the same period of fiscal 2016, whereas bank deposits grew at 11.19% to Rs 105,77,947 cr from Rs 95,13,148 cr in the fortnight ended June 10, 2016.

ii. Credit growth was slightly higher than the previous fortnight ended on May 26, 2017.

iii. In the fortnight ended May 26, 2017, credit growth grew by 5.08% with an outstanding loans at Rs 75,93,546 cr.
