1. DR JITENDRA SINGH LAUNCHES NEW TRAINING PROGRAMME ‘COMMIT’ FOR STATE GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS
i. Dr. Jitendra Singh, Minister of State for Development of North Eastern Region, Prime Minister’s Office, Personnel, Atomic Energy and Space, Public Grievances & Pensions, launched a new training programme Comprehensive Online Modified Modules on Induction Training for State Government officials.
ii. The objective of this training programme is to improve the public service delivery mechanism and provide citizen centric administration through capacity building of officials who interact with the citizens on day-to-day basis.
iii. COMMIT is cost effective and has the potential to cover about 3.3 lakh officials annually, compared to 10,000 officials under existing 12-Day Induction Training Programme.
iv. COMMIT will be launched in 6 States of Assam, Maharashtra, Haryana, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and West Bengal initially on pilot basis during the current financial year 2017-18 and within next year it is expected to cover all India level.
v. COMMIT programme has been developed by Department of Personnel and Training in collaboration with United Nations Development Programme.

2. AADHAAR-PAN LINKING MANDATORY FROM 1 JULY
i. The Government has issued notification to all those who have Permanent Account Number should link to their existing Aadhar card from July 1 in accordance with the provisions of sub-section (2) of section 139AA.
ii. Under the Finance Act for 2017-18 both Aadhar card and PAN became mandatory for filing tax returns, opening of Bank accounts and financial transactions over Rs.50000.
iii. The 12-digit identification number or Aadhaar enrolment ID is compulsory for those who are applying for new PAN.
iv. Go to incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in to link your Aadhaar with PAN and click on the tab ‘Link Aadhaar’. After this first enter your PAN and Aadhaar number; then enter your name exactly as mentioned in Aadhaar and then submit it.
v. After verification of details from the Unique Identification Authority of India, the linking will be confirmed.

1. INDIA’S FIRST BLOOD BANK FOR CATTLE TO COME UP IN ODISHA
i. Odisha is all set to become the 1st state in the country to have a blood bank for the cattle.
ii. The 1st of its kind blood bank would be established on the premises of OUAT at an estimated cost of Rs 3.25 cr. The Vice-chancellor of the Odisha University of Agriculture and Technology is  India's first blood bank for Cattle to come up in Odisha.
iii. A proposal in this regard was earlier submitted to the National Agriculture Development Programme.
iv. After approval from the NADP, the OUAT is now awaiting approval from the state government. The project will have a 60:40 sharing between the Centre and the state government.

2. PM NARENDRA MODI’S FOREIGN VISITS TO PORTUGAL, NETHERLANDS, US: OVERVIEW
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi was on an official visit to Portugal, US and the Netherlands.
ii. During PM Modi’s visit to Portugal, India and Portugal signed 11 pacts for cooperation in various areas including cooperation in outer space, nano technology, double taxation avoidance,  improving cultural ties, youth and sports, higher education, scientific research, and setting up of a Portugal-India Business Hub and an Indian Chamber of Commerce in Portugal.
iii. India and Portugal announced a 4 million Euros joint fund to bolster research in science and technology.
iv. Indian PM Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump agreed to continue strengthening coordination for ensuring peace and stability in Afghanistan as they expressed concern over rising instability in the war-torn country caused by terrorism.
v. During PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the Netherlands, India and Netherlands signed following three agreements : MoU on water cooperation, MoU on Cultural Cooperation and Agreement on Amending Social Security Arrangement

3. INDIA RANKS 93RD OUT OF 128 IN SOCIAL PROGRESS INDEX 2017
i. India has ranked 93rd among 128 countries on 2017 Social Progress Index report by Social progress Imperative with support from Deloitte and its strategic partners.
ii. Denmark is at 1st position, Finland is at 2nd position followed by Iceland is at 3rd and Norway is at 4th.

1. KALRAJ MISHRA LAUNCHES DIGITAL MSME SCHEME, EXCHANGES MOUS WITH SAP INDIA, INTEL AND HMT
i. Kalraj Mishra has launched the Digital MSME Scheme, exchanges MoUs with SAP India, Intel and HMT. The Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises is celebrating the 1st UN MSME Day in the Delhi.
ii. It has been celebrated for recognizing the importance of crucial role that the sector plays both in terms of job creation and contribution towards economic growth.
iii. During the event, Mishra launched Digital MSME Scheme and exchanged Memorandum of Understandings with SAP India, Intel and HMT.

2. GROUP INSURANCE COVER FOR AMARNATH PILGRIMS RAISED TO RS 3 LAKH
i. The Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board has announced to enhance the group insurance cover for the pilgrims and service providers from existing Rs 1 lakh to Rs 3 lakh.
ii. SASB manages the annual yatra to the 3,880-metre high holy cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir, Himalayas. Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra is the chairman of SASB.
iii. He has announced the enhanced group insurance while interacting with ‘ponywalas’ and  Group insurance cover for Amarnath pilgrims raised to Rs 3 lakh‘ pithoowalas’ during a visit to various camps en route the holy cave shrine.
iv. The representatives of Army, CRPF, J&K Police, BSF, SDRF, NDRF, the leader of the mountain rescue team and camp directors regarding the arrangements being made on and along the track from Upper Sangam- Lower Holy Cave- Holy Cave for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
v. Proper sanitation arrangements should be ensured and deep garbage pits should be dug to ensure the proper disposal of bio-degradable waste.

3. PRIYANKA CHOPRA APPOINTED AS AMBASSADOR FOR GOVERNMENT’S SKILL INDIA CAMPAIGN
i. Actress Priyanka Chopra has appointed as ambassador for government’s flagship Skill India campaign, with the National Skill Development Corporation .
ii. Priyanka will use her celebrity status to motivate youngsters to hone their abilities through a media campaign.
iii. Earlier, Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli, batting legend Sachin Tendulkar, Singer Mohit Chauhan, Bollywood actors Sidharth Malhotra and Shabana Azmi had also become goodwill ambassador for Skill India.
iv. The MD and CEO of National Skill Development Corporation is Manish Kumar. The Skill India campaign was launched by Prime Minister Modi in July 2015.

4. MIHAI TUDOSE NAMED AS PRIME-MINISTER DESIGNATE IN ROMANIA
i. Romania has announced Mihai Tudose as Prime Minister.
ii. Tudose has replaced Sorin Grindeanu whom they ousted last week in an internal party rift over anti-corruption policy.
iii. PSD filed a no-confidence motion against ex-Prime Minister Sorin Grindeanu for causing delays in implementing reforms.

5. RUSSIAN NAVY TEST-FIRES SUBMARINE-LAUNCHED MISSILE
i. The Russian military has successfully test-fired a submarine-launched intercontinental ballistic missile.
ii. The Yuri Dolgoruky nuclear-powered submarine has launched the Bulava missile. It has launched from a submerged position in the Barents Sea.
iii. The Yuri Dolgoruky is the 1st in a series of Borei-class submarines carrying the Bulava. The Bulava, which has been commissioned by the Russian navy after a long cycle of development, carries 6 nuclear warheads and has a range of up to 9,300 kilometers.
iv. According to ministry the missile’s mock warheads reached their designated targets on the opposite side of Russia, the Kura shooting range on the far eastern Kamchatka Peninsula.
v. Russia now has 3 such submarines, and 5 more are under construction to gradually replace some of the older Soviet-built ones.

6. ISSF JUNIOR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP: INDIA WIN TEAM BRONZE IN 25M RAPID FIRE PISTOL
i. India shooters have won a bronze medal in men’s 25m rapid fire pistol team event at the ISSF Junior World Championship Pistol.
ii. The ISSF Junior World Championship Pistol held in in Suhl, Germany. Anish, Anhad Jawanda and Shivam Shukla got up a combined score of 1711 to claim third place.
iii. India’s overall tally received 2 gold 1 silver and 1 bronze medal. It was Anish’s 2nd medal of the competition after having won the 25m standard pistol gold on the opening day of the competition.
iv. Yashaswini Singh Deswal had won India its 2nd gold of the competition by winning the 10m air pistol individual women event.

7. UP GOVT SIGNS PACT WITH ADB FOR STRENGTHENING OF ROADS
i. Uttar Pradesh Government has signed an agreement with Asian Development Bank for a loan of 1950 cr rupees for strengthening of roads in different district. The agreement was signed at Lucknow in the presence of CM Yogi Adityanath and ADB President Takehiko Nakao.
ii. As per agreement, ADB will provide the loan amount for Uttar Pradesh Main District Roads Development Project of 2782 cr rupees cost. State government will spend 832 cr rupees form its own resources on the project.
iii. Project is scheduled to be completed by 2024 and ADB will provide the loan for the period of 25 years on the interest rate of 2%.

1. K KASTURIRANGAN HEADS PANEL ON NATIONAL EDUCATION POLICY
i. Former Indian Space Research Organisation head Krishnaswamy Kasturirangan has been appointed by Union Ministry of Human Resource Development to head the committee to draft the National Education Policy.
ii. The National Policy on Education was framed in 1986 and modified in 1992. The government has now appointed a committee to draft the final policy document.
iii. HRD ministry has also chosen 8 other experts and educationists from various backgrounds.
iv. Other members include Vice-Chancellor of SNDP University, Mumbai, and educationist Vasudha Kamat; Princeton University Mathematics professor Manjul Bhargava; Retired bureaucrat J. Alphonse; Baba Saheb Ambedkar University of Social Sciences, Mhau, Vice-Chancellor Ram Shankar Kureel; Vice-Chancelllor of Tribal University, Amarkantak, TV Kattamani; Gauhati University Persian language professor Mahzar Asif; KM Tripathy from Uttar Pradesh and Central Advisory Board on Education member M.K. Shridhar.

2. GOA CM MANOHAR PARRIKAR INAUGURATES 3 DAY MODI FEST IN PANAJI
i. Goa CM Manohar Parrikar has inaugurated the 3-day Making of Developed India Festival (MODI) Fest at Kala Academy in Panaji.
ii. It is a programme for taking the achievements of the government to the common people. Parrikar mentioned that after taking initiatives, it is also important for the government to inform people about them.
iii. The MODI Fest showcases the progress of various policies and programmes of the central government and its achievements in the last 3 years.
iv. It also includes economic and infrastructure development, budget reforms, Digital India, women empowerment, skill development for youth, financial inclusion and incentives for the farming sector.

3. WORLD BANK CLEARS $250-MILLION LOAN TO TRAIN INDIA’S JOB SEEKERS
i. The World Bank has cleared a USD 250-million loan, referred to as Skill India Mission Operation for making Indian youth more employable through reskilling.
ii. World Bank’s SIMO is a 6- year programme in support of the Indian government’s National Policy for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
iii. SIMO will be implemented through the National Skill Development Mission and will specifically target labour market entrants.
iv. Utilising funds procured through this loan will increase the market relevance of short-term skill development programmes at the national and state level.
v. Under this programme, adults in 15-59 years of age, underemployed or unemployed, will get the skill training. It will also include the 1.2 crore youngsters in the age group of 15-29 years who are entering the labour market every year.

4. MANUSHI CHHILLAR FROM HARYANA WINS THE TITLE OF MISS INDIA 2017
i. Manushi Chhillar from Haryana won Femina Miss India 2017 title. Sana Dua from Jammu and Kashmir is the 1st runner-up and the 2nd runner-up is Priyanka Kumari from Bihar.
ii. The event was held at Yash Raj Studios in Mumbai. Karan Johar and Riteish Deshmukh hosted the event; whereas Sonu Nigam, Sushant Singh Rajput, Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor performed live on-stage to entertain the guests.
iii. Following a new format this year, the beauty pageant toured 30 states/UTs across India and young girls from various states including Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and Jharkhand participated in the contest.

5. J-K GOVERNOR N N VOHRA APPOINTED AS PRESIDENT OF IIC
i. Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has been appointed the President of the India International Centre – one of the premier cultural institutions in the country.
ii. N N Vohra was appointed as the president at the Annual General Meeting which was held on June 23.
iii. The appointment was made after eminent jurist Soli Sorabjee quit the presidential post. The India International Centre is a well known non-official organisation located in New Delhi.
iv. It serves as a meeting place for the various cultural and intellectual offerings the city has to offer, while maintaining its non-official character, non-aligned motivations and remains uncommitted to any particular form of governmental, political, economic or religious affiliation

6. SPACEX SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES TWO FALCON 9 LANDINGS IN ONE WEEKEND
i. SpaceX has successfully launched and landed the 2nd Falcon 9 rocket in roughly 48 hours. It gives SpaceX two wins in its “weekend doubleheader.”
ii. It’s the company’s 9th launch of 2017, and, six months in, are the most completed by SpaceX in a single year. The rocket took off from California’s Vandenberg Air Force Base.
iii. It delivered 10 satellites into orbit for the communications company Iridium. Today’s Falcon 9 was a new one sporting larger, upgraded titanium hypersonic grid fins.
iv. SpaceX’s marks the 13th successful landing overall and its 8th at sea. The successful delivery of 10 Iridium satellites to space brought Iridium’s satellite count up to 20.

7. NOTED MALAYALAM FILMMAKER KR MOHANAN PASSES AWAY
i. Noted filmmaker K.R. Mohanan passed away. His prominent films include “Ashwathama”, “Purushartham” and “Swaroopam”.
ii. Mohanan played a key role in setting up the CPI-M-backed Kairali TV in the nineties and also headed the programme division of the channel during its formative period.
iii. K.R. Mohanan was also an accomplished documentary filmmaker. He is graduated from the Film and Television Institute of India and also headed the Kerala State Chalachithra Academy.

8. INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST DRUG ABUSE AND ILLICIT TRAFFICKING
i. The 2017 International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was observed on 26 June.
ii. The theme of International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking was Listen First – Listening to children and youth is the first step to help them grow healthy and safe.
iii. It is an initiative to increase support for prevention of drug use that is based on science and is thus an effective investment in the well-being of children and youth, their families and their communities.
iv. It was decided to observe the day and to strengthen action and cooperation to achieve the goal of an international society free of drug abuse.
