1.      GOVERNMENT OF INDIA AND ADB SIGN $80 MILLION LOAN AGREEMENT
i. The Asian Development Bank  and the Government of India signed $80 million loan to help modernize technical and vocational education and training institutions and improve the skills ecosystem in the State of Himachal Pradesh.
ii. The Project will establish a polytechnic for women, six city Livelihood Centers, and seven Rural Livelihood Centers, and upgrade 11 employment exchanges into model career Centers.

2.      RS 350 COIN TO MARK BIRTH ANNIVERSARY OF GURU GOBIND SINGH
i. Government will come out with a Rs 350 commemorative coin to mark 350th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh, the 10th and last Sikh Guru.
ii. The coin with standard weight of 35 gram will have 50 per cent silver, 40 per cent copper and 5 per cent each of nickel and zinc.
iii. The reverse side will bear the picture of "Takht Shri Harimandir Ji Patna Sahib" in the centre.

3.      CRICKET AUSTRALIA BANS STEVE SMITH, DAVID WARNER FOR 12 MONTHS
i. Cricket Australia  has banned Australian captain Steve Smith and vice-captain David Warner for 12 months and handed a nine-month ban to Cameron Bancroft.
ii. Warner and Smith have also been banned from captaining Australia for two years.
iii. These players have been charged for deliberately ttrying to tamper with the condition of the ball in an orchestrated attempt to gain an advantage.

4.      HARYANA’S MEWAT IS INDIA’S MOST BACKWARD DISTRICT
i. The NITI Aayog has released a preliminary ranking for the 101 most backward districts of India that have signed up for the Narendra Modi government’s ‘Transformation of Aspirational Districts’ programme.
ii. Haryana’s Mewat is the lowest-ranked among these backwards districts, while Andhra Pradesh’s Vizianagaram is the best-performing district of the 101.

5.      GSLV SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHES GSAT-6A SATELLITE
i. India's Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle  successfully launched GSAT-6A Satellite into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit .
ii. The launch of GSLV was its twelfth and took place from the Second Launch Pad at Satish Dhawan Space Centre  Sriharikota, the spaceport of India.
iii. This is the fifth consecutive success achieved by GSLV carrying indigenously developed Cryogenic Upper Stage.

6.      RBI IMPOSES RS 59 CR PENALTY ON ICICI BANK
i. The Reserve Bank of India  has imposed a monetary penalty of Rs 58.9 crore on ICICI Bank Ltd for non-compliance with the directions issued by RBI.
ii. The penalty has been imposed in exercise of powers vested in RBI under the provisions of the Banking Regulation Act, 1949, taking into account failure of the bank to adhere to its directions/guidelines.

1.      NITI AAYOG RELEASES BASELINE RANKING OF ASPIRATIONAL DISTRICTS
NITI Aayog CEO Amitabh Kant launched the baseline ranking for the Aspirational Districts across five developmental areas of Education, Health and Nutrition, Agriculture and Water Resources, Basic Infrastructure and Financial Inclusion and Skill Development.
i. He also announced that the ‘Champions of Change’ Dashboard for real-time data collection and monitoring will be open for public viewing from April 1, 2018.
ii. District Collectors of all the aspirational districts will be able to input the latest available data of their respective districts through this Dashboard.
About Aspirational Districts:
Aspirational districts refer to selected 115 backward districts that are lagging on specific development parameters.

2.      MINISTRY OF POWER PARTNERS WITH SKILL INDIA TO SUPPORT ELECTRIFICATION SCHEME ‘SAUBHAGYA’
Union Ministry of Power partnered with the Union Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship to train the manpower in six states for speedy implementation of SAUBHAGYA scheme.
i. SAUBHAGYA  aims to achieve universal household electrification in all parts of India in a time bound manner.
ii. Training the manpower in six states – Assam, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh initiative, will be undertaken as a special project under Central Government’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana .
iii. Training will be provided to around 47000 Distribution Lineman-Multi Skills and 8500 Technical Helpers to meet the requirement of power sector.

3.      CBDT EXTENDS PAN-AADHAAR LINKING DEADLINE TO JUNE 30
The CBDT has extended the deadline for the PAN-Aadhaar linking from the current last date of 31 March 2018 to 30 June 2018.
i. CBDT issued order , the deadline for PAN-Aadhaar linking for filing I-T returns is extended till 30 June 2018.
ii. This order by CBDT has been issued after the Supreme Court judgment that was made in  this  month, ordering extension of the March 31deadline for linking Aadhaar with several other services.
iii. This is the fourth extension offered by the government for individuals to link their Permanent Account Number (PAN) with their biometric ID (Aadhaar).
iv. Previous deadlines were 31 July 2017, 31 August 2017 and 31 December 2017.

4.      ASIA’S LARGEST TULIP GARDEN “INDIRA GANDHI MEMORIAL TULIP GARDEN” IN SRINAGAR OPENS FOR VISITORS
Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, Asia’s largest Tulip garden, in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, was opened for visitors.
i. The Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden is located on the foothills of the Zabarwan mountain range along the banks of Dal Lake.
ii.The floriculture department has planted 12.25 lakh Tulip bulbs of 40 varieties and colours in the garden.

5.      15TH MEETING OF INDIA-US JOINT WORKING GROUP ON COUNTER TERRORISM
i. The India and  US conducted a meet to strengthen information exchange on world’s most dangerous terrorist groups and individuals.
ii.They discussed efforts to curb the funding and operations of regional and global terrorist organizations.
iii. Current efforts to ensure implementation of domestic and international terrorist designations were discussed.
vi.The next meeting of the Joint Working Group will be hosted by the United States in 2019.

6.      SC APPOINTS JUSTICE JAWAD RAHIM AS ACTING CHAIRPERSON OF NGT
Justice Jawad Rahim was appointed as the acting chairperson of National Green Tribunal  by the Supreme Court.
i. Justice Jawad Rahim will perform his duties as acting chairperson of NGT until a regular appointment is made.

1.      ISSF JUNIOR WORLD CUP: MANU BHAKER WINS GOLD
i. Shooter Manu Bhaker secured India's second individual gold  in a thrilling final of the women's 10m air pistol event at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Sydney, Australia.
ii. India also won 10m Air Pistol men's event too with Gaurav Rana winning a silver medal while Anmol Jain bagged the bronze.

2.      JS RAJPUT NOMINATED INDIA’S REPRESENTATIVE TO UNESCO'S EXECUTIVE BOARD
i. The Government of India has decided to nominate Prof. J S Rajput, former Director NCERT, as India’s representative to the Executive Board  of UNESCO.

1.      CCEA APPROVES INTEGRATED SCHEME FOR DEVELOPMENT OF SILK INDUSTRY
i.  The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs has approved Integrated Scheme for Development of Silk Industry for the next three years from 2017-18 to 2019-20.
ii. The decisions taken by the cabinet will lead to the formation of a first-ever inter-ministerial panel to boost R&D and technology transfer in the silk sector with a 1,000 crore rupee fund.
iii. The scheme will help to increase productive employment from 85 lakhs to 1 crore persons by 2020. The scheme aims to achieve self-sufficiency in silk production by 202[B]

  1. UIDAI SET TO INTRODUCE FACE AUTHENTICATION FEATURE FROM JULY 1
The Unique Identification Authority of India  is all set to make face authentication available alongside iris or fingerprint scan as means of verifying Aadhaar users from July 1, 2018.
The UIDAI  in January had announced that it will introduce face authentication feature to help those who run into problems in biometric authentication due to old age, hardwork or worn-out fingerprints.

The birth anniversary of India's Dalit social reformer Dr BR Ambedkar will be celebrated as 'Social Justice Day'.
 Ambedkar became independent India's first law minister, the principal architect of the Constitution of India.
Ambedkar was awarded the Bharat Ratna posthumously in 1990.
