1. INDIA AND SWEDEN SIGNED MOU ON TECHNICAL COOPERATION IN RAIL SECTOR
i. The Ministry of Indian Railways and Sweden signed a Memorandum of Understanding on technical cooperation in rail sector.
ii. It will help to promote efficiency and sustainability and achieve concrete results with regard to bilateral trade, investment, research and technology transfer.

2. INDIA WON THREE-MATCH T-20 SERIES AGAINST SRI LANKA
i. India on won the three-match T-20 series against Sri Lanka by defeating with 2-1 in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

3. INDIAN WOMEN FOOTBALL TEAM DEFEATED NEPAL TO BAG GOLD AT SAG
i. The India women's team won gold at the 12th South Asian Games after beating Nepal by 4-0 in the in Shillong.
ii. 12th South Asian are hosted by India for the third time.

4. JAUNA MURMU AND RANJIT NAYAK INCLUDED IN TARGET OLYMPIC PODIUM SCHEME
i. Two prominent sportspersons Jauna Murmu and archer Ranjit Nayak were included in the Target Olympic Podium Scheme for the 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.
ii. Jauna Murmu is a sprinter, while Ranjit is an archer both are chosen for the scheme by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.
iii. Target Olympic Podium Scheme was started with the objective of identifying and supporting potential medal prospects for 2016 and 2020 Olympic Games.

5. MYSURU DECLARED CLEANEST CITY IN SWACHH SARVEKSHAN 2016
i. Mysuru city from Karnataka has been ranked first in terms of cleanliness for second time in Swachh Sarvekshan 2016.
ii. It was announced by Urban Development Minister Venkaiah Naidu during the Swachh Survekshan 2016 award function held in New Delhi.
iii. The rankings of the Swachh Survekshan Survey 2016 were conducted by Quality Council of India as part of ‘Swachh Bharat Mission’.
iv. The survey was conducted to measure the impact of efforts under Swachh Bharat Mission for solid waste management, construction of toilets and service delivery level.
v. Top 5 cities are Mysore, Chandigarh, Tiruchirappalli, Delhi and Visakhapatnam.

6. INDIA’S FIRST LIGHTEST GUN NIDAR LAUNCHED
i. India’s first indigenously developed lightest revolver Nidar weighing merely 250 grams was launched.
ii. It has been designed and manufactured by the Rifle Factory Ishapore located in West Bengal.
iii. It is launched to give a boost to the ‘Make in India’ initiative in small manufacturing sector.
iv. It has a range 7 meters with precise accuracy.

7. DEVARAJA REDDY ELECTED AS THE NEW ICAI PRESIDENT
i. The Institute of chartered accountants of India appointed M Devaraja Reddy as the new President.
ii. Earlier he was the Vice-President of ICAI for the council year 2015-16.
iii. The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is the national professional accounting body of India

1. WEST INDIES WON ICC U-19 CRICKET WORLD CUP 2016
i. West Indies has won the ICC U-19 Cricket World Cup by defeating India at Bangladesh.
ii. Top five cricket teams in the Under-19 cricket world cup are West Indies, India, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Pakistan.

2. UNDER MAKE IN INDIA WEEK 3 MOUS WORTH RS 21000 CRORE SIGNED
i. Three Memorandum of Understandings are signed making total investment of 21,000 crore rupees on the first day of the Make in India Week in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
ii. These MoUs were signed are:
a.       TwinStar Display Technologies has inked MoU with Maharashtra Industrial Development Corporation to set up an LCD manufacturing unit in technical collaboration with Autron of Taiwan with investment of 20,000 crore rupees.
b.      Raymond Industries and MIDC have inked MoU as part of ‘Farm to Fabric’ initiative with an investment of 1,400 crore rupees for manufacturing of abric, linen yarn and garmenting in the state.
c.       Hindustan Coca Cola Beverages, Jain Irrigation Pvt Ltd and Department of Agriculture and Marketing of Maharashtra have inked MoU for setting up a juice manufacturing facility to support farmers growing oranges in Vidarbha region of state.

3. VIDYA BALAN AWARDED PRIDE OF KERALA AWARD
i. Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has been awarded with the ‘Pride of Kerala’ Award by the World Malayalee Council.
ii.Actress vidya balan belongs to Kerala  and She has won five Filmfare Awards such as in Best Female Debut for Parineeta , Best Actress for Paa , The Dirty Picture  and Kahaani and Critics Award for Best Actress for Ishqiya .
4. FILM ON CONSERVATION EFFORTS BY NAGALAND VILLAGERS WON GOLDEN BEAVER AWARD
i. Nagaland is changing, but, a film on conservation efforts by villagers grabbed the Golden Beaver Best Film Award in the institutional category at the 6th National Science Film Festival in Mumbai.
ii.The film also received the technical excellence award for best sound design at the festival.
Iii.The film was produced by Nagaland State Forest Department in 2015.
iv. The film is about community conservation areas of Nagaland at Sendenyu village in Kohima district and Sukhai village in Zunheboto district.

5. 7TH INDIA AND SEYCHELLES JOINT MILITARY EXERCISE LAMITYE 2016 BEGAN IN SEYCHELLES
i. LAMITYE 2016 the 7th joint military training exercise between the Indian Army and the Seychelles started in seychelles.
ii. Lamitye, means friendship will be conducted with the aim of enhancing military cooperation and interoperability between the two countries.
iii. LAMITYE 2016 is the 7th biannual exercise started in 2001.
6. SANIA MIRZA AND MARTINA HINGIS WON 2016 ST. PETERSBURG LADIES TROPHY
i. Sania Mirza and  Martina Hingis won the 2016 St. Petersburg Ladies Trophy in Russia.
ii.They have defeated  the Russian-Czech team of Vera Dushevina and Barbora Krejcikova in the women’s doubles final.
Iii.It was their 40th victory overall and the title was the fourth in the 2016 season

7. ASHOK CHAWLA APPOINTED AS CHAIRMAN OF TERI
i. The Governing Council of TERI appointed Ashok Chawla as the Chairman of The Energy and Resources Institute.
ii.He has  replaced B V Sreekantan who was serving as the Chairman of TERI

iii. The Energy and Resources Institute was established in 1974 and headquartered in New delhi.
