1. 10TH
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON THEORY AND PRACTICE OF ELECTRONIC GOVERNANCE HELD
IN NEW DELHI
i. The 10th
edition of the International Conference on Theory and Practice of Electronic
Governance was held in New Delhi.
ii. Theme
for this year was “Building Knowledge Societies: From Digital Government to
Digital Empowerment”.
iii. Its
objective is to ICEGOV 2017 focused on the use of technology to transform
relationships between government and citizens, businesses & civil society.
iv. The
ICEGOV 2017 was inaugurated by the Union Minister of Electronics & IT and
Law & Justice Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad.
v. The
ICEGOV 2018 will be held in Galway, Ireland.

VASUNDHARA RAJE PRESENTED RS.1,66,000-CR RAJASTHAN BUDGET 2017-18
i. Rajasthan
CM Vasundhara Raje who also holds the Finance portfolio, presented
Rs.1,66,000-cr state budget for 2017-18 in the Legislative Assembly with focus
on aiding farmers and promoting tourism in the state.
ii. The
Budget is based on the government’s vision document mission 2020. It aims at a
happy Rajasthan and a happy Rajasthani.
iii.
Estimated Revenue Deficit for 2017-18 without effect of UDAY is Rs. 1528 c. And
with effect of UDAY is Rs. 13528 cr.
iv.
Estimated Fiscal Deficit for 2017-18 is Rs. 24753.53 cr which is 2.99% of GSDP.
Estimated total revenue receipts for 2017-18 Rs. 130162 cr. Estimated own tax
revenue for 2017-18 Rs. 59455 cr which is higher by 16.16%.
v. Estimated
own tax revenue for 2017-18 was 8.34% of GSDP.
3. TAMIL
NADU CM PALANISWAMI LAUNCHES RS 1580 CR HOUSING SCHEME
i. The Tamil
Nadu CM K Palaniswami launched a Housing Scheme for construction of concrete
houses for the economically poor section of the society.
ii. The
project is estimated at Rs 1,580 cr and will be implemented by the state
government with financial assistance from the Center.
iii. For the
current fiscal 2016-17, concrete houses will be constructed for 50,170
beneficiaries in town panchayat limits.
4. MEGA
CULTURAL FESTIVAL ‘INDIA BY THE NILE’ BEGINS IN EGYPT
i. The 5th
edition of the mega cultural festival ‘India by the Nile’ began in Cairo,
Egypt. It is the largest foreign festival in Egypt.
ii. The IBN
Festival is organized by India to showcase Indian culture, dance, arts music,
theatre, food, cuisine and Yoga & wellbeing to build a long lasting
relationship between the two ancient civilizations.
iii. The
festival started off at the foot of the Pyramids with ‘Crafts Mela’ showcasing
the joint handicraft exhibition of India and Egypt.
iv. The
exhibition is organized in partnership with the Indian Ministry of Textile;
Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts, the Egyptian Ministry of Solidarity
and the Federation of Egyptian Industries.
v. The main
focus of 2017 Nile Festival is on the youth of both countries. A special match
between India’s under-16 football team and Egypt’s under-16 national team will
be held to reflect the agenda.
