1. CABINET CLEARS PAY HIKE FOR 1 CR. GOVT EMPLOYEES AND PENSIONERS
i. The Cabinet has approved pay hike in the salay of more than 1 Cr. central government employees.
ii. They  will get a pay hike after the government approved the implementation of the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission.
ii. The report submitted by the commission headed by Justice Ashok Kumar Mathur in November last year recommended a 14.27 percent hike in basic pay at junior levels, 23.55 per cent overall hike in salaries, allowances and pension.
iii. The entry level pay was recommended to be raised to Rs. 18,000 per month from the current Rs. 7,000 a month.

2. FSSAI SIGNS MOU WITH ASCI
i. Food Safety and Standards Authority of India and the Advertising Standards Council of India signed MoU with each other to put check on the issues of misleading advertisements in the food sector.
ii. Under this MoU they will make it a compulsory check upon the process of complaints against misleading ads by food companies.

3. NASA TESTS ROCKET BOOSTER FOR SPACE MISSION
i. A booster for NASA’s Space Launch System the most powerful rocket in the world, has been successfully tested.
ii. It will pave the way for future human exploration in deep space, including the journey to Mars.
iii. This final qualification test of the booster system shows real progress in the development of the Space Launch System.

4. AMUL SIGNS UP AS OFFICIAL SPONSOR OF INDIAN TEAM TO THE OLYMPICS
i. India’s leading food products company Amul has signed up as the official sponsor for the Indian contingent to the Rio Olympics 2016.
ii. The company will launch a series of advertising campaigns for milk and other dairy products to promote this association.
iii. Amul has embarked upon an ‘Eat Milk with Every Meal’ campaign.

5. EXERCISE ‘JALRAHAT’ COMMENCES IN ASSAM
i. The armed forces conducted a exercise  to control Natural calamities named as exercise ‘Jalrahat’ started in  Narangi Cantt in Assam.
ii. It is a joint initiative by State Govt and Armed Forces for relief during floods.

6. GOVT LAUNCHES WEB PORTAL TO KEEP A CHECK ON ENVIRONMENTAL APPROVALS FOR MINING OF MINERALS
i. A new web portal has been launched for online submission and monitoring of environmental approvals for mining of sand and minor minerals.
ii.  Prakash Javadekar Minister of State of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, the web portal will enhance transparency of the entire application process.

7. INDIA'S SANJEEV RAJPUT WINS SILVER IN ISSF
i. Sanjeev Rajput shooter of India bagged a silver medal for India in men's 50-metre rifle.
ii. The gold medal was acquired by Petar Gorsa from Croatia.

1. N S VISHWANATHAN APPOINTED AS THE NEW DEPUTY GOVERNOR OF RBI
i. The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet appointed NS Vishwanathan as the Deputy Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
ii. He is currently working as an executive director at the RBI.
iii. He will replace H R Khan, who will retire on July 3.

2. INDIA RANKED 105TH ON WEF'S HUMAN CAPITAL INDEX
i. India has been ranked 105th out of 130 countries on the World Economic Forum's Human Capital Index.
ii. The index measures countries’ ability to nurture, develop and deploy talent for economic growth.
iii. Finland topped the index and india is placed on 105th rank.
iv. The index has been released by Geneva-based World Economic Forum.

3.  RAJNATH SINGH INAUGURATES H.Q. OF JHARKHAND'S SPECIAL ANTI-MAOIST FORCE
i. Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated the newly constructed headquarters of Jharkhand's special anti-Maoist force 'Jharkhand Jaguar' in Jharkhand's capital city Ranchi.
ii. Jharkhand Jaguar is an anti-Maoist squad formed eight years ago in 2008 .
iii. The force has led many successful operations against Maoists so far.

4. ODISHA GOVERNMENT TO PROVIDE EDUCATION LOAN AT 1% INTEREST
i. Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has launched a new scheme Kalinga Siksha Sathi Yojana.
ii. The aim  of the scheme is to provide education loan at 1 % interest to students for pursuing higher studies.
iii. The State government dedicated this scheme to former Chief Minister Biju Patnaik on his Birth Centenary.
iv. Under this scheme poor students can avail professional and technical education loan up to 10 lakh rupees at 1% interest rate.

5. TWO INDIANS GET QUEEN’S YOUNG LEADERS AWARD 2016
i. Two Indians, Kartik Sawhney, and Neha Swain, have won the 2016 Queen's Young Leaders award in the United Kingdom.
ii. Sawhney and Swain have won the prestigious award for their exceptional work in transforming the lives of others and making a lasting difference in their communities.
iii. The Queen’s Young Leader Award is given to youths who are taking the lead in their communities and using their skills to transform lives.

6 FOUNDER OF TITAN, XERXES SAPUR DESAI HAS PASSED AWAY
i. Xerxes Sapur Desai, the man who founded India's largest watchmaker company 'Titan Co Ltd', has passed away in Bengaluru.
ii. He also worked with Tata Press, Tata Chemicals, and Taj Hotels before setting up Titan in 1986.
iii. After the success in watches, he started Tanishq, the jewelry business that is now a trusted brand and India’s largest jewelry firm.

7. INDIA MAINTAINS THE THIRD POSITION IN ICC ODI TEAM RANKINGS
i. According to ICC Ranking India has maintained its number three position in the ICC ODI team rankings.
ii. The ranking list is topped by world champions Australia.
iii. The second place was occupied by New Zealand with 113 rating points.
iv. In the MRF Tyres ICC Player Rankings for ODI batsmen India’s Virat Kohli is placed second while South Africa’s AB de Villiers has been on the top place.

1. PM NARENDRA MODI RELEASES BOOK TITLED THE BIRDS OF BANNI GRASSLAND
i. Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a book titled “The Birds of Banni Grassland” in New Delhi.
ii. The book was presented to the Prime Minister by the scientists of Gujarat Institute of Desert Ecology
iii. The Birds of Banni Grassland is book based on environment and consists of a compilation of the research work, relating to more than 250 species of birds found in the Banni area of Kutch, Gujarat.

2. SWEDEN INAUGURATES WORLD’S FIRST ELECTRIC ROAD
i. Sweden inaugurated  an electric road in Sandviken to conduct tests with electric power for hybrid heavy transports on public roads.
ii. Sweden becomes first country in the world to have electric road.
iii. The tests will continue up through 2018 and will provide knowledge of how electric roads work in practice.
iv. The road E16 tests will involve a current collector on the roof of the hybrid heavy truck’s cab that will feed the current down to a hybrid electric motor in the truck.
v. It has the potential to achieve zero carbon dioxide emissions.

3. CSIR LAUNCHES INDIA’S FIRST ANTI DIABETIC AYURVEDIC DRUG BGR -34
i. The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research  has launched BGR-34, an anti-diabetic ayurvedic drug designed for type 2 Diabetes mellitus.
ii. The anti-diabetic ayurvedic drug BGR-34 has been jointly developedby National Botanical Research Institute and Central Institute for Medicinal and Aromatic Plants .
iii. BGR-34 BGR-34 works by controlling blood sugar and limiting the harmful effects and toxicity of other drugs.
iv. Council of Scientific and Industrial Research CSIR is an autonomous body and the largest research and development  organisation in India.

4. JITU RAI WINS SILVER MEDAL IN ISSF WORLD CUP
i. Indian shooter Jitu Rai won silver medal at the ISSF  Shooting World Cup held in Azerbaijan.
ii. He shot 199.5 score to bag the silver medal in men’s 10m air pistol.
iii. It was Jitu Rai’s second medal in a World Cup 2016 season and earlier had won the gold medal in the free pistol event in the first World Cup held in Bangkok, Thailand.

5. MAJULI IN ASSAM BECOMES INDIA’S FIRST ISLAND DISTRICT
i. Majuli is the World’s largest river island located in the Brahmaputra River in Assam
ii.The Government of Assam approved majuli  as a district and now it become the first island district in the country.
iii. It is a riverine delta a unique geographical occurrence and a result of the dynamics of the Brahmaputra river system.
iv. It is the largest mid river delta system in the world.

6. PRADHAN MANTRI SURAKSHIT MATRITVA ABHIYAN STARTED
i. Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritva Abhiyan launched by PM Narendra Modi .
ii. The scheme aims at boosting the health care facilities for the pregnant women, especially the poor.
iii. It also seeks to protect pregnant ladies from infectious diseases.
iv. Under the scheme, the pregnant ladies will be given free health check-up and required treatment for free on 9th of every month.
