1.      CABINET APPROVES MOU BETWEEN INDIA AND JORDAN ON COOPERATION IN HEALTH SECTOR
i. The Union Cabinet has approved signing of a Memorandum of Understanding  between India and Jordan on cooperation in the field of Health & Medical Science.
ii. A Working Group will be set up to to oversee the implementation of this MoU and further elaborate the details of cooperation.
iii. The govt  will  cover sectors like :Health Research,Tobacco Control,National Health Statistics,Health System Governance,Regulation of Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices and Diagnosis, Treatment and Medication in Tuberculosis.

1.      CABINET APPROVES ESTABLISHMENT OF NATIONAL FINANCIAL REPORTING AUTHORITY 
i. The Union Cabinet approved establishment of National Financial Reporting Authority (NFRA) as an independent regulator for the auditing .
ii. It aims to tighten regulatory oversight over auditors and plug loopholes.
iii. It will be independent  for enforcement of auditing standards and ensuring quality of audits. The need for establishing NFRA was needed due to scams and to establish independent regulator.

1.      TELANGANA, TAIWAN SIGN MOU FOR BETTER TECHNOLOGY PARTNERSHIP
i. The Telangana Government signed an MOU with Taoyuan City of Taiwan for better technology partnership in the state. The agreement was signed after the World Congress on Information Technology 2018 in Hyderabad.
ii. IT Minister K T Rama Rao and principal secretary Jayesh Ranjan signed the agreement with Robert Huang, Director of the Board of Taiwan company at World IT Congress 2018.

2.      INDIA RANKS 81ST IN GLOBAL CORRUPTION PERCEPTION INDEX
i. India has been ranked 81st in the global corruption perception index for 2017, released by Transparency International. The index ranks 180 countries and territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption. In the 2016 India was in the 79th place among 176 countries.
ii. The index uses a scale of 0 to 100, where 0 is highly corrupt and 100 is very clean. In the latest ranking New Zealand and Denmark were placed the highest, with scores of 89 and 88, respectively. On the other hand, Syria, Sudan and Somalia were ranked lowest with scores of 14, 12 and 9, respectively.

1.      WORLD CONGRESS ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND NASSCOM INDIA LEADERSHIP FORUM HELD CONCURRENTLY IN HYDERABAD
i. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 22nd edition of the World Congress on Information Technology in Hyderabad through a video conference. The WCIT is held for the first time in India.
ii. The 26th edition of Nasscom India Leadership Forum was also held in the same venue later on. Nasscom is the host of the WCIT. Telangana is the state partner for both the events.

2.      PM NARENDRA MODI INAUGURATES UP INVESTORS SUMMIT IN LUCKNOW
i. PM Narendra Modi inaugurated the 2-Day long UP Investors Summit in Lucknow. The mega event has been organised by the Uttar Pradesh government. It is aimed at showcasing investment opportunities and potential across various sectors in Uttar Pradesh.
ii. According to the UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, 900 MoUs have already been finalised ahead of the Summit. Representatives from Mauritius, Japan, Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Finland, Thailand and Slovakia will also participate in the event.

3.      GOVERNMENT CLEARS PRIVATE COMMERCIAL MINING IN COAL
i. In a major reform in the coal sector since its nationalisation in 1973, the government has allowed private companies to mine the fossil fuel for commercial use. This move ended the monopoly of state-owned Coal India Ltd.
ii. The decision was taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs under the Chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi. Currently, the private sector is allowed coal mining for captive use only.

4.      MAHARASHTRA GOVERNMENT TO LAUNCH ASMITA YOJANA TO PROVIDE CHEAP SANITARY PADS
i. Maharashtra government will roll out 'Asmita Yojana' on the International Women’s Day (March 8, 2018) to provide cheap (subsidised) sanitary pads to school girls and women.
ii. Under the scheme, schoolgirls studying in Zilla Parishad schools will get sanitary napkin packet at Rs 5 while rural women can avail it at the subsidised rate of Rs.24 and Rs.29.

i. The Union Cabinet chaired by PM Shri Narendra Modi has given the following set of approvals. The important Cabinet Approvals are given as follows-
ii. The Cabinet has approved-
(a) Proposal for Mahanadi Water Disputes – Constitution of a Tribunal under Inter-State River Disputes Act, 1956 – request from State of Odisha.
(b) India-Morocco Cooperation Agreement in Railway Sector. The Cooperation Agreement will enable technical cooperation in the following areas:-
Training and staff development, Expert missions, exchange of experience and personnel; and Mutual technical assistance, including exchanging of experts.
(c) Silkyara Bend-Barkot Tunnel in Uttarakhand as part of ‘Chardham Mahamarg Pariyojana’.
(d) New Bill to ban Unregulated Deposit Schemes and Chit Funds (Amendment) Bill, 2018.
(e) Agreement between India and Israel on Film Co-production

2.      AGA KHAN’S 11-DAY VISIT TO INDIA BEGINS
i. Spiritual leader Aga Khan is on the 11-day visit to India. Sunder Nursery, a 90-acre park near Humayun’s Tomb in New Delhi, will be inaugurated by Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu in the presence of the Aga Khan.
ii. During his previous visit in 2015, the Aga Khan was conferred Padma Vibhushan for his contributions to social development in India.

1.      HEALTH MINISTER ADDRESSES GLOBAL DIGITAL HEALTH PARTNERSHIP SUMMIT IN AUSTRALIA
i. Mr. J P Nadda, Union Minister for Health and Family Welfare has addressed the Global Digital Health Partnership Summit, at Canberra, Australia.
ii. The Union Health Minister spoke on the topic: Making Digital Health Services a Priority in Healthcare Reform.

2.      NABARD LAUNCHES RS 1,918 CRORE AREA DEVELOPMENT PLAN FOR PUNJAB
i. The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development announced area development plans worth Rs 1,918 cr for Punjab to supplement farmers' income.
ii. Under this plan, the activities like dairy, vegetable cultivation, bee keeping, mushroom growing will be promoted in order to provide income to farmers at the sustainable basis.

1.      WORLD CONGRESS ON INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY BEGINS IN HYDERABAD
i. The prestigious World Congress on Information Technology 2018 has begun in Hyderabad. PM Narendra Modi addressed the inaugural session of the 3-day IT summit through a video link.
ii.The World Information Technology and Services Alliance is organising Congress while the National Alliance of Software and Services Companies and the Telangana state Government are jointly hosting the event.

2.      LS SPEAKER SUMITRA MAHAJAN INAUGURATED 6TH INDIA REGION CPA CONFERENCE
i. Lok Sabha Speaker, Sumitra Mahajan inaugurated the 6th India region Commonwealth Parliamentary Association conference at Patna in Bihar. The conference focused on the objectives and role of the Parliamentary Association body.
ii. The conference holds discussions mainly on two topics viz. 'Parliament's role in the development agenda' and 'Legislature and Judiciary - Two important Pillars of Democracy'.

3.      INDIA-IRAN SIGN 9 MOUS TO BOOST BILATERAL TIES
i. India and Iran have signed nine agreements in order to further the bilateral cooperation between the two sides. The pacts were signed after delegation-level talks between PM Narendra Modi and visiting Iran President Hassan Rouhani at New Delhi's Hyderabad house.
ii. The two countries inked pacts to enhance cooperation in the areas of taxation, maritime cooperation, health and medicine, trade, agriculture and postal cooperation.

1.      IRANIAN PRESIDENT HASSAN ROUHANI VISITS INDIA
i. PM Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with visiting Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in New Delhi,  during which discussions on the issues of regional, international and mutual interest will be held. This is the first visit by Iranian President to India in 10 years.
ii. In may 2016, PM Modi had visited Iran and 12 agreements were signed between the two nations.

1.      INDIA’S BIGGEST GLOBAL PHARMA CONFERENCE BEGINS IN BENGALURU
i. India’s biggest Global Conference on Pharma Industry and Medical Devices began in Bengaluru With the theme, ‘Driving NextGen Pharmaceuticals. Union Minister for Chemicals & Fertilisers Ananth Kumar inaugurated the three-day event.
ii. The event is being organised by the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilisers, along with Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce & Industry.

2.      NITI AAYOG, KPIT TECHNOLOGIES TIE-UP TO PROMOTE INNOVATION IN SCHOOLS
i. KPIT technologies has made a two-year statement of intent with National Institution for Transforming India Aayog to promote innovative skills of students.
ii. This tie up between NITI Aayog and KPIT aims to improve the innovative skills of senior secondary students as part of the Atal Innovation Mission. Through AIM, the Central government would conduct open-ended workshops at Atal Tinkering Laboratories to enable students learn through ‘do-it-yourself’ mode. Through this the students would acquire important skills.
iii. This tie up will help students learn concepts of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through robotics, Internet of Things and 3D printing.
iv. KPIT will also provide two volumes of ‘Chhote scientists’ booklets to nearly 2500 schools to develop curriculum and teaching aids. Training programs for teachers will also be organized for Atal Tinkering Laboratories.

3.      INDIA’S AADHAAR AND UMANG APP WIN AWARD IN DUBAI
i. India’s Umang App was named winner of the Best M-Government Service award in the Accessible Government category while Aadhar won the best emerging technology award at the recently concluded World Government Summit 2018 in Dubai, where India had the status of ‘Guest of Honour’ country.
ii. The Summit acknowledged technology pioneers for providing global solutions to global challenges. The mobile application Umang App provides users a unified platform that combines government departments and services, facilitating transactions for citizens. The award acknowledged Government of India’s efforts to provide convenient services to its citizens.

4.      TRI-SERVICE MARITIME EXERCISE ‘PASCHIM LEHAR’ BEGINS
i. ‘Paschim Lehar’, a tri-service maritime exercise was held off India’s Western Coast from February 12, 2018. Objective behind conducting this exercise was to build interoperability among Indian Navy, Air Force and Army.
ii. Around 40 ships, submarines and fighter aircrafts from the Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy participated in ‘Paschim Lehar’. During the course of this exercise, number of weapons including missiles, guns and torpedo were fired.
iii. Besides, the exercise helped in validating and refining the operational plans of the Western Naval Command.

5.      YES BANK LISTS COUNTRY’S FIRST $600M MTN BOND ON INDIAINX
i. Private sector lender, Yes Bank has announced the listing of the Bank’s debut US $600 million bond issue under its maiden US $1 billion medium-term note bond on country’s first international exchange BSE’s IndiaINX at the International Financial Services Centre at GIFT City in Gandhinagar.
ii. The Yes Bank’s MTN programme— a debt note that matures or has a payback period of 5 years on Global Securities Market became the country’s first capital raising platform for international investors in any currency.

6.      PRESIDENT HOSTS LPG PANCHAYAT AT RASHTRAPATI BHAVAN
i. President Ram Nath Kovind  hosted the LPG Panchayat at Rashtrapati Bhavan, New Delhi. LPG Panchayat was organised by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.
ii. LPG Panchayat serves as a platform for LPG consumers to interact with each other, share experiences and thereby promote mutual learning. Each LPG Panchayat is attended by about 100 LPG customers residing in area near to the venue.
iii. Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas will be conducting at least 1 lakh LPG Panchayats across India before March 31, 2019.

7.      ETHIOPIA'S PRIME MINISTER RESIGNS TO SMOOTH PATH FOR POLITICAL REFORM
i. Ethiopia's PM Hailemariam Desalegn suddenly resigned in what he described as a bid to smooth reforms, following years of violent unrest that threatened the ruling party's hold on Africa's second most populous nation.
ii. The resignation has unprecedented in Ethiopia's history - followed a wave of strikes this week in towns near the capital and demonstrations successfully demanding the release of more opposition leaders.

8.      PRESIDENT KOVIND INAUGURATES INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ‘AGRICON 2018’ IN KANPUR
i. President of India, Ram Nath Kovind, inaugurated the international conference ‘Agricon 2018’ and ‘Agriexpo 2018’ at Chandrashekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh.
ii. Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik and Uttar Pradesh Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi were also present at the inauguration ceremony.
iii. The conference has been organised under the joint auspices of The Society of Agricultural Professionals, Kanpur and Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture & Technology, Kanpur.
iv. Organisations like National Institute of Agricultural Sciences (referred to as NAAS) and Indian Council of Agricultural Research are partnering in this conference. During this four-day event, discussions will be held on various themes including Sustainable Farming Systems, Conservation and Utilisation of Genetic Resources and Managing Change in Agriculture.

9.      CYRIL RAMAPHOSA SWORN IN AS NEW PRESIDENT OF SOUTH AFRICA
i. Cyril Ramaphosa, head of the ruling African National Congress has been sworn in as South Africa's new President. He was elected as the new president of South Africa by the ruling party politicians after the resignation of Jacob Zuma.
ii. The country's 400-member parliament, dominated by the ruling African National Congress Party, elected Ramaphosa to finish his predecessor's term, which ends with elections in 2019. The ANC has finished first in every national vote since the end of white-minority rule in 1994.

10.  HARUHIKO KURODA REAPPOINTED AS BANK OF JAPAN CHIEF
i. Japan's government has reappointed Bank of Japan Governor Haruhiko Kuroda for another term and chose an advocate of bolder monetary easing as one of his deputies, a sign the central bank will be in no rush to dial back its massive stimulus program.
ii. The government also submitted to parliament its nomination of Masazumi Wakatabe, a professor at Waseda University and an advocate of aggressive monetary easing, as deputy governor.

1.      INDIA'S FIRST RADIO FESTIVAL BEING HELD IN DELHI
i. India's 1st radio festival is being held in New Delhi to mark World Radio Day. The festival is being organized by International Association of Women in Radio and Television, in collaboration with UNESCO.
ii. The festival includes live performances, an exhibition, and slotted panel discussions. Apart from touching on the theme for World Radio Day 2018 - radio and sports - the festival is also examining the potential of the medium as a platform for social change, ways to make it more creative and will trace the journey of music on the radio.

2.      INDIAN, CHINESE ARMIES CELEBRATE CHINESE SPRING FESTIVAL IN LADAKH
i. On the occasion of Chinese spring festival, Indian and Chinese armies held a Border Personnel Meeting in Chushul sector of Ladakh region. The Border Personnel Meeting was held at Chinese BPM hut in Moldo garrison of the People’s Liberation Army in Chushul sector of eastern Ladakh.
ii. Indian delegation was led by Colonel Deependra Jasrotia and Chinese delegation was led by Senior Lieutenant Colonel Bu Hong Dong. The national flag of China was saluted by both the delegations. The Indian and Chinese delegation leaders presented their ceremonial addresses.
