1.      PRESIDENT GIVES ASSENT TO KARNATAKA’S 2016 GOOD SAMARITAN BILL
i. President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to Karnataka Good Samaritan and Medical Professional (Protection and Regulation during Emergency Situations) Bill, 2016.
ii. This bill aims to provide legal protection to the good samaritans in the state, who help accident victims with emergency medical care in the golden hour.
iii. In medical term the ‘golden hour’ is the first hour after a traumatic injury when emergency treatment is very crucial.
iv. Karnataka has become the first state in the country to give legal protection to good samaritans.

2.      Rs. 36,000 CR TO BE INJECTED INTO SYSTEM THROUGH PURCHASE OF GOVT BONDS: RBI
i. Reserve Bank of India announced injection of Rs.36,000 crore into the system through purchase of government bonds.
ii. The objective is  to meet the festival season demand for funds.
iii. The auctions to purchase government bonds will be as part of the Open Market Operations to help manage liquidity.

3.      LIST OF RECIPIENTS OF EK ALABYA PURASKAR, 2018 RELEASED
i. The Ekalabya committee selected Odia hockey player Lilima Minz for the prestigious Ekalabya Puraskar, 2018.
ii. She represented the Indian senior team for the first time in 2011 during a four-nation tournament in Argentina.
iii. She also participated in the 2016 Summer Olympics and also won the gold medal Womens Hockey Asia Cup after a gap of 13 years in Japan on November 5, 2017.
iv. The Ekalabya Puraskar is given to those who promote literature, sports, the arts, culture and other socially meaningful activities in the state for decades.

1.      25 COUNTRIES IN GLOBAL BANKS’ ‘HIGH RISK’ LIST’
i. The main custodian banks shared a list of 25 countries named as “high-risk jurisdictions” with Securities and Exchange Board of India recently.
ii. China, UAE, Cyprus and Mauritius, along with 21 other countries have been named as “high-risk jurisdictions” by global banks acting as custodians for foreign funds.

2.      BANK OF CHINA SOON TO OPERATE IN INDIA; RBI GIVES NOD TO THE SECOND BANK FROM CHINA
i. The RBI has issued licence to Bank of China to launch operations in India.
ii. This is the second Chinese lender to secure a licence to open a branch in India.
iii. In 2011, RBI gave approval to Industrial and Commercial Bank of China to open a branch in India. It currently has a branch in Mumbai.

3.      FINANCE MINISTRY KEEPS THE INTEREST RATES OF SMALL SAVINGS UNCHANGED FOR THE JULY-SEPT QUARTER
i. The Finance Ministry announced that it has kept the interest rates on small savings schemes, including NSC and PPF, unchanged for the July-September quarter.
THE INTEREST RATES ARE :
5 yr Senior citizen Savings Scheme (paid quarterly)8.3%, Savings deposits 4%
PPF 7.6%, National Savings Certificate 7.6%, Kisan Vikas Patra (maturity in 11 months)7.3%,  Sukanya Samriddhi Account 8.1%, Term Deposit (1-5 years)6.6-7.4%
 5 year Recurring Deposit 6.9%.

1.      INDIA’S FIRST GLOBAL MOBILITY SUMMIT TO BE ORGANIZED BY NITI AAYOG IN SEPTEMBER
i. NITI Aayog  is going to organize  MOVE: Global Mobility Summitin New Delhi on 7th and 8th September, 2018 in association with various ministries and industry partners.
ii. The Conclave would include global CEOs and transport ministers from across the world.

2.      NITIN GADKARI FLAGS OFF TAXI AMBULANCE SERVICES
i. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari flagged off Wagon Cab’s taxi ambulance services in New Delhi. 
ii. Wagon Cab claims to be India’s first road emergency cab services provider.

3.      RAJASTHAN APPROVES 1% RESERVATION FOR GUJJARS
i. The Rajasthan government approved 1 per cent reservation for five communities, including the Gujjar community, against their demand of 5 % under the Most Backward Classes  category.
ii. The five communities who benefit from the order of the Rajasthan government are – Godia Lohar, Banjara, Gujjar, Raika and Gadaria.

4.       AGARTALA AIRPORT TO BE NAMED AFTER MAHARAJA BIR BIKRAM MANIKYA KISHORE
i. The Union Cabinet decided to name the Agartala airport in Tripura after Maharaja Bir Bikram Manikya Kishore, the erstwhile ruler of Tripura.
ii. This airport is the second busiest airport in the north east.


5.      “CVIGIL” : APP TO ENABLE CITIZENS TO REPORT ON VIOLATION OF ELECTION CODE OF CONDUCT LAUNCHED BY ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA
 i. The Chief Election Commissioner Shri. O.P. Rawat, along with the Election Commissioners Shri Sunil Arora and Shri Ashok  Lavasalaunched a mobile app, called ‘cVIGIL’
ii. It avails citizens to report any violation of the model code of conduct during elections.

6.      PADDY MSP RAISED TO RS.1,750/QUINTAL, IN STEEPEST HIKE SINCE 2012-13
i. The government increased the minimum support price  for paddy by a record Rs 200 per quintal amounting it to Rs 1,750 per quintal.
ii. The government has increased the MSP of paddy (common grade) by Rs 200 to Rs 1,750 per quintal for 2018-19 season.

7.      MILAN SHANKAR TARE SELECTED FOR THE 2018 NATIONAL MARITIME SEARCH AND RESCUE AWARD
i. Milan Shankar Tare, a fisherman of Palghar district, Maharashtra, has been selected for 2018 National Maritime Search and Rescue Award.
ii. Milan Shankar Tare saved the lives of 12 people from a sinking fishing boat named Shivneri in May 2018.

8.      VISHWAS PATEL APPOINTED AS CHAIRMAN OF PAYMENTS COUNCIL OF INDIA
i. The Payments Council of India announced that, it has appointed Vishwas Patel as its new Chairman.

9.      URUGUAY’S MAJOR GENERAL JOS ELADIO ALCAIN APPOINTED HEAD OF UNMOGIP
i. UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed a Uruguay Army general Major General Jose Eladio Alcain as the chief military observer of the UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan.
ii. The UN Military Observer Group in India and Pakistan was established in January 1949.

10.  ICC INTRODUCES STRICTER SANCTIONS FOR BALL-TAMPERING
i. International Cricket Council  has introduced  new regulations  regarding ball-tampering by  upgrading the offence  from a level 2 to a level 3.
ii. Tampering with the ball will be now penalized with a ban of up to 6 Tests or 12 ODIs.
iii. ICC also added obscenity and personal abuse to the list of offences to bring better behaviour on the field.

1.      CONFERENCE OF STATES POWER MINISTERS HELD AT SHIMLA
i. Ministry of Power announced  it will hold a conference of state power ministries at Shimla, Himachal Pradesh.
ii. Issues like 100 per cent Household Electrification by December, 2018, UDAY performance assessmentshifting to prepaid system in three years and 24X7 Power for All – From 1st April 2019 will be discussed.

2.      MADHYA PRADESH GOVT TO IMPLEMENT AYUSHMAN BHARAT YOJANA UNDER PMRSS MISSION ON INDEPENDENCE DAY
i. Madhya Pradesh government and National Health Agency  signed a  MOU for implementation of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana under the Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Swasthya Suraksha Mission in the state from August 15,2018.
ii. An annual Health Security Cover of 5 lakh rupees will be provided to each family under the scheme.

3.      COUNTRY’S FIRST E-WASTE RECYCLING UNIT TO COME UP IN BENGALURU
 i. The Centre has announced a state-of-the-art e-waste recycling unit for Bengaluru, India’s technology capital.
ii. It will be India’s first such unit in the government sector.

4.      IIFL IS INDIA’S NO. 1 BANKER FOR EQUITY ISSUANCE FOR PRIVATE SECTOR COMPANIES IN FY18
i. IIFL is India’s top investment bank for equity issuance by private sector companies as per report of Prime Database Investment Bankers League table for FY 2017-18.

5.      RAHUL DRAVID INDUCTED INTO ICC HALL OF FAME
i. Former Indian cricket captain Rahul Dravid and Australian Ricky Ponting have been inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame for their achievements in international cricket.
ii. Rahul Dravid has become the 5th player from India to be inducted into the ‘Hall of Fame after Bishan Singh Bedi, Sunil Gavaskar,Anil kumble and Kapil Dev .

6.      TEJAS: INDIGENOUS FIGHTER AIRCRAFT COMMENCES OPERATIONS FROM KERALA’S SULUR AIR FORCE STATION
 i. Indigenous fighter aircraft Tejas  started operations from the Air Force Station at Sulur near Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
 ii. Tejas is the first advanced Fly-by-wire fighter aircraft designed, developed and manufactured in India by HAL.

7.      ‘EPIDIOLEX’ – WORLD’S FIRST MEDICINE MADE FROM MARIJUANA
 i. US Food and Drug Administration for the first time approved the use of Epidiolex, an oral solution made from marijuana, for the treatment of seizures related to 2 rare and severe forms of epilepsy.
8.      AUSTRALIA WINS CHAMPIONS TROPHY HOCKEY 2018
i. Australia won the Champions Trophy hockey 2018 in Breda, the Netherlands.
ii. India lost 1-3 to Australia in shootout in the finals of Champions Trophy hockey.

1.      RAVINDRA DHOLAKIA COMMITTEE
i. A 13-member committee for Sub-National Accounts will be headed by Ravindra H Dholakia To upgrade the norms for computation of economic data at states and districts level to revise the base year for National Accounts or GDP calculation.
ii. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation will change the base year to 2017-18 for the calculation of GDP and IIP numbers from the current 2011-12 with an aim to capture changes in the economy.

2.      HIMACHAL PRADESH GETS NATIONAL AWARD FOR BEST PERFORMANCE UNDER PMSMA
i. Himachal Pradesh has been named first among states for its performance under the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matritav Abhiyan  in India.
ii. Himachal Pradesh has been given this award for bringing maximum number of women for ante-natal check-up to the PMSMA clinics.

i. The country’s largest lender, State Bank of India has selected Arijit Basu as Managing Director of the bank.

5.      CCI GIVES NOD FOR BHARTI INFRATEL & INDUS TOWERS MERGER
i. Bharti Airtel-owned telecom tower company Bharti Infratel Limited got an approval from the Competition Commission of India to merge with Indus Towers Limited.
ii. As per the deal, Bharti Infratel will offer 1,565 shares for every one share of Indus Towers.

6.      INDIA WINS SIX-NATION KABADDI MASTERS DUBAI TITLE IN DUBAI
i. India won the six-nation Kabaddi Masters Dubai title in Dubai.
ii. India defeated Iran 44-26 in the finals and became champions of the six-nation Kabaddi Masters Dubai.
iii. Indian team was led by captain Ajay Thakur.

7.      MAX VERSTAPPEN WINS AUSTRIAN GRAND PRIX IN AUSTRIA
i. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen won the Austrian Grand Prix in Austria.
ii. Ferrari’s Kimi Raikkonen finished in the second spot.

1.      INDIA GETS ITS 37TH WORLD UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE
i. At the 42nd session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO at Manama in Bahrain , India’s nomination of the “Victorian and Art Deco Ensembles of Mumbai ” was inscribed on  UNESCO’s World Heritage list.
ii. This makes Mumbai city the second city in India after Ahmedabad to be inscribed on the World Heritage List.

2.      BHITARKANIKA NATIONAL PARK HAS BECOME THE LARGEST HABITAT OF THE ENDANGERED ESTUARINE CROCODILES IN INDIA
i. Bhitarkanika national park in Odisha has become the largest habitat of the endangered estuarine crocodiles in India with a record number of 101 nesting sites.
ii. At least 1698 crocodiles, including albino species, were counted in 2018 along the water-bodies of Mahanadi delta region. In 2017, this count was 1682.

3.      MUMBAI AIRPORT AMONG LEAST PUNCTUAL AIRPORTS IN THE WORLD: STUDY BY OAG
i. Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport in Mumbai, the second busiest in India, has been ranked as the fifth least punctual airport in the world.
ii. Indira Gandhi International airport in Delhi,  has secured 451st position among the 513 airports worldwide, in flight punctuality.
iii. No major Indian airport appeared in the top 200 in ‘on-time performance’ 
      But, Port Blair airport in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands got the worldwide rank of 65, with punctuality rate of 84.6 %.
