1.             ICAO SIGNS MOU WITH INTERNATIONAL SOLAR ALLIANCE

·               A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the International Solar Alliance (ISA) headquartered at Haryana, India and the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) during the the 42nd Session of the ICAO Assembly in Montreal, Canada.

·               Objective of MoU is to check the growth of CO2 emissions in the aviaton sector and also to reduce carbon emissions.

·               India sets Net Zero Carbon goal in 2070 in COP 26.

·               India also set a target of installing 175 GW of renewable energy of which 100 GW will be solar energy by 2022 and reduction in emission intensity by 33-35% by 2030.

 

2.             INS SUNAYNA PARTICIPATES IN COMBINED MARITIME FORCES AT SEYCHELLES

·               The Indian Naval Ship (INS) Sunayna participated in the capacity-building exercise Operation Southern Readiness conducted by Combined Maritime Forces (CMF) at Seychelles

·               INS Sunayna is a 2nd Saryu-class Naval Offshore Patrol Vessel (NOPV) that was commissioned by vice admiral SathishSoni, flag officer commanding in chief for southern naval command at Kochi in  2013.

3.             LATA MANGESHKAR AWARD

·               Shailendra Singh is honoured with the Lata Mangeshkar Award for 2019

·               Anand-Milind is honoured with the LataMangeshkar Award for 2020

·               Kumar Sanu is honoured with the Lata Mangeshkar Award for 2021

·               It is a National-level award instituted to honour works in the field of music.

·               The State Government of Madhya Pradesh started this award in 1984, which consists of a certificate of merit and a cash prize.

 

4.             MOHAMMED BIN SALMAN NAMED AS PRIME MINISTER OF SAUDI ARABIA

·               Mohammed bin Salman, a powerful Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia and son of King Salman bin Abdulaziz has been named Prime Minister  (PM) of the Kingdom by royal decree.

5.             JALDOOT APP FOR MONITORING OF GROUND WATER TABLES ACROSS INDIA LAUNCHED

·               The Union Minister of State (MoS) Faggan Singh Kulaste, Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) launched the ‘JALDOOT App and JALDOOT App e-brochure’ during a function in New Delhi, Delhi.

·               This app will be used across India for the monitoring of ground water tables by capturing the water level of selected 2-3 wells in a village.

·               It is developed by MoRD and Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR).

 

6.             DRDO SUCCESSFULLY TESTED VERY SHORT RANGE AIR DEFENCE SYSTEM MISSILE

·               the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully conducted the two flight tests of the Very Short Range Air Defence System (VSHORADS) missile from a ground based portable launcher at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur, off the coast of Odisha.

·               This Man Portable Air Defence System (MANPAD) will be used for neutralising low altitude aerial threats at short ranges.

·               It is designed and developed indigenously by Hyderabad (Telangana)-based Research Centre Imarat (RCI) of the DRDO in collaboration with other DRDO laboratories and Indian Industry Partners.

 

7.             NAVIC, INDIA’S HOME-GROWN ALTERNATIVE TO THE GPS SYSTEM

·               Navigation with Indian Constellation (NavIC) is an indigenous independent stand-alone navigation satellite system developed by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and controlled by India.

·               NavIC was originally approved in 2006 at a cost of USD 174 million and became operational in 2018.

·               Currently, NavIC’s use in India is limited to public vehicle tracking, for providing emergency warning alerts to deep sea fishermen with no terrestrial network connectivity, and for tracking information related to natural disasters.

·               NavIC is currently for use in India and its boundaries while other satellites such as GPS from the United States (US), Galileo from the European Union, GLONASS from Russia, QZSS, operated by Japan and Beidou from China caters to users across the globe for regional navigation.

 

8.             WORLD RABIES DAY 2022 – SEPTEMBER 28

·               World Rabies Day 2022 is annually observed across the globe on 28th of September to celebrate rabies prevention efforts and unite against rabies.

·               The theme of World Rabies Day 2022 is “Rabies: One Health, Zero Death”, which highlights the relation between the environment with both people and animals.

 

9.              ‘IIFL WEALTH HURUN INDIA 40 & UNDER SELF-MADE RICH LIST 2022

·               Zerodha’s co-founder Nikhil Kamath topped the ‘IIFL Wealth Hurun India 40 & Under Self-Made Rich List 2022’ with a net worth of Rs 17,500 crore.

·               Ola co-founder Bhavish Agarwal came second (Rs 11,700 crore) and DivyankTurakhia of Media.net came third place (11,200 crore).

·               The Hurun India rich list has 53 entrepreneurs under 40 years of age.

·               The founder of Zepto, Kaivalya Vohra (19 year old) became the youngest self-made entrepreneur on the list.

 

10.          ‘Changemaker’ award at UN SDG Action Awards

·               A women’s rights activist from India, Srishti Bakshi has won the ‘Changemaker‘ award at the UN SDG (United Nations Sustainable Development Goals) Action Awards held at a ceremony in Bonn, Germany.

·               The award is given to recognise the efforts of Srishti Bakshi to raise awareness of gender-based violence and inequality.

·               Srishti Bakshi, a marketer-turned-women’s-rights-activist and founder of the Cross Bow Miles movement, started on an on-foot pilgrimage of 3,800 Km through 12 Indian states from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.

 

11.          LT GEN ANIL CHAUHAN (RETIRED) APPOINTED AS INDIA’S 2ND CHIEF DEFENCE STAFF

·               The Government of India(GoI) appointed Lieutenant (Lt.) General (Gen.) Anil Chauhan, the military adviser to the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS) and a former Eastern Army Commander, as the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) of India.

·               He is the 2nd person to hold the post of CDS after General Bipin Rawat, who died in a chopper crash in December 2021 in Tamil Nadu.

·               General Anil Chauhan will also function as Secretary of the Department of Military Affairs, GoI with effect from the date of his assumption of charge and until further orders.

·               Gen. Anil Chauhan retired in May 2022 and is currently the military advisor to national security advisor Ajit Doval.

·               Following the appointment as CDS, Lt. Gen. Anil Chauhan will automatically become a 4-star officer .

·               In June 2022, the amended service rules of the armed forces made all serving and recently retired 3-star officers, Lt General, Air Marshal and Vice Admiral who are under the age of 62 eligible for the post.

·               According to the new rules, all 3-star and 4-star officers from the tri services, including the retired officers from June 2020, are eligible for consideration for the post.

·               He has authored a book “Aftermath of a Nuclear Attack”

 

12.          R. VENKATARAMANI BECOMES THE NEW ATTORNEY GENERAL FOR INDIA

·               Droupadi Murmu, President of India, has appointed  senior advocate R. Venkataramani  (72-years old) as the Attorney General (AG) for India for a period of 3 years succeeding K. K. Venugopal

·               Attorney General for India is the first law officer of the Government of India.

·               AG is appointed by the President of India at the instance of the Union Cabinet under Article 76(1) of the Constitution.

·               According to the article 76(4), There is no fixed tenure for the AG, he/she shall hold the office during the pleasure of the President and shall receive such remuneration as the President may determine.

·               According to Article 76(2) of the Indian Constitution, the duty of the AG is to give advice to the GoI upon such legal matters and also to perform such other legal duties that are assigned by the President of India.

·               Under Article 88, the AG shall have the right to speak and take part in all the proceedings of Loksabha and Rajyasabha including joint sitting of the Houses, and any committee of Parliament for which he is added as a member.

·               He is not subjected to vote.

 

13.          RAJENDRA KUMAR APPOINTED AS DIRECTOR GENERAL OF ESIC

·               IAS officer Rajendra Kumar is appointed as the Director General of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC)

·               ESIC is two main statutory social security bodies under the Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India.

·               The other one is Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation(EPFO).

14.          WORLD HEART DAY 2022- SEPTEMBER 29

·               World Heart Day 2022 is annually observed across the globe on 29 September to raise awareness about the rising concerns of heart health and cardiovascular diseases (CVD).

·               The theme for World Heart Day 2022 is “Use Heart For Every Heart’’.

·               It is based on the three key beneficiaries i.e Use heart for humanity, Use Heart for Nature, and Use heart for you.

·               The idea of World Heart Day was proposed by Antoni Bayés de Luna, former President of the World Heart Federation (WHF) (1997-1999).

·               In 1999, the WHF and the World Health Organization (WHO) collaborated to the establishment of World Heart Day and proclaimed the last Sunday of September as World Heart Day.

·               In USA Dr.Jitendra Singh Addresses Roundtable On “Net Zero Built Environment with Connected Communities” At Global Clean Energy Action Forum-2022

·               He the first-ever “Global Clean Energy Action Forum 2022,” a joint convening of the 13th Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM 13) and the 7th Mission Innovation (MI 7) ministerials, which was held in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA.

·               He also addressed the forum’s Roundtable on “Net Zero Built Environment with Connected Communities.”

·               During the first roundtable on “Sustainable Bioenergy and Bio-Refineries” at the Global Clean Energy Action Forum 2022, Dr.Jitendra Singh announced the launch of the “Innovation Roadmap of the Mission Integrated Biorefineries”.

 

2.             National Service Scheme Awards for the Year 2020-21

·               The President of India, Droupadi Murmu presented the National Service Scheme (NSS) Awards for the year 2020-2021 at New Delhi

·               A total of 42 awards have been awarded including 2 Universities, 10 NSS units, their programme officers, and 30 NSS volunteers received the awards.

·               The NSS awards are conferred every year by the Department of Youth Affairs, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports.

·               The NSS is a Central Sector Scheme (CSS) of the Government of India (GoI), under the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports (MoYAS) that was launched in 1969, with an aim to provide experience to young students of schools and universities in delivering community services.

 

3.             INDIAN CRICKETER JHULAN GOSWAMI ANNOUNCED RETIREMENT

·               Indian cricketer Jhulan Nishit Goswami, the bowling legend of Indian Women’s cricket team, announced her retirement from international cricket.

·               The match at Lords’ England in September 2022,Indian Women’s Team 3rd One Day International (ODI) against England, was her last international match.

·               She is famously known as ‘Babul’.

·               She served as the Captain of Indian Women’s Cricket Team (2008–2011)

 

4.             WORLD PHARMACIST DAY 2022 – SEPTEMBER 25

·               World Pharmacists Day(WPD) is annually observed across the globe on 25th September  to encourage pharmacists and value their contributions and to promote and raise awareness about their profession.

·               The theme of World Pharmacists Day 2022 is “Pharmacy united in action for a healthier world”.

·               25th September was chosen to celebrate World Pharmacy Day(WPD) to mark the date of the establishment of the International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP). FIP was established on 25th September 1912.

 

5.             WORLD RIVERS DAY 2022- SEPTEMBER 25

·               World Rivers Day is annually observed across the globe on the 4th Sunday of September to promote awareness about the importance of rivers and the increasing threat posed to rivers by climate change.

·               The theme for World Rivers Day 2022 is ‘The importance of Rivers to Biodiversity’.

·               World Rivers Day was 1st observed in 2005 following the launch of the United Nations (UN)’s ‘International Decade for Action, “Water for Life”, 2005-2015‘.

·               The day (World Rivers Day) was initiated by Mark Angelo, a Canadian river conservationist.

 

6.             WORLD ENVIRONMENT HEALTH DAY 2022 – SEPTEMBER 26

·               The World Environmental Health Day (WEHD) is annually observed across the world on 26th September to raise awareness about the important role of environmental health and to highlight the environmental concerns on human health.

·               The theme for the 2022 WEHD is “Strengthening Environmental Health Systems for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals”.

 

7.             SUELLA BRAVERMAN WINS 1ST QUEEN ELIZABETH AWARD

·               Indian-origin UK (United Kingdom) Home Secretary Suella Braverman has been named the winner of the 1st Queen Elizabeth II Woman of the Year award at the Asian Achievers Awards (AAA) 2022 ceremony in London, England.

·               She is a British politician and barrister who was appointed as the UK’s Home Secretary by British Prime Minister Mary Elizabeth Truss (Liz Truss) at the AAA 2022 ceremony.

·               The awards have been given in order to recognise the achievements of individuals from different spheres of life across Britain’s South Asian community through public nominations.

·               Broadcaster Naga Munchetty won in the media category

·               Namit Malhotra in the Arts and Culture category

·               Captain Harpreet Chandi in the Uniformed and Civil Service category

8.             GIORGIA MELONI TO BECOME ITALY’S 1ST WOMAN PM 

·               Giorgia Meloni, leader of the Far Right nationalist Fratellid’Italia (Brothers of Italy) party won 26% of the vote in Italy’s National Election by defeating Mario Draghi and becoming Italy’s 1st Woman Prime Minister.

9.             NASA SUCCESSFULLY TESTS DART AS IT CRASHES INTO ASTEROID DIMORPHOS

·               National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA)’s Double Asteroid Redirection Test (DART), the world’s first planetary defence technology demonstration, successfully crashed into the asteroid Dimorphos  6.8m miles from Earth.

·               This marks humanity’s first attemt to move another celestial body, with an aim to see if a larger asteroid hurtling towards Earth could be diverted.

·               Dimorphos is an asteroid that was discovered in 1996 and is about 9.6 million kilometres from Earth.

 

10.          2022 DULEEP TROPHY CRICKET

·               The West zone has defeated the South zone by 294 runs to win their 19th title in 2022 Duleep Trophy at the SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore

·               The 2022 Duleep trophy was the 59th season of the Duleep Trophy.

·               Sarfaraz Khan scored most runs with 127 runs for 178 balls and  Jaydev Unadkat of West zone became the player of the series.

·               Duleep Trophy is also known as Mastercard Duleep trophy for its sponsorship and it is also the first-class cricket tournament in India.

·               It is named after Duleepsinhji of Nawanagar, who is also known as Duleep.

·               The competition was originally contested by teams representing geographical zones of India.

·               But from 2016, the BCCI selected the teams for the trophy.

 

11.          WORLD TOURISM DAY 2022 – SEPTEMBER 27

·               The United Nations (UN)’s World Tourism Day (WTD) is annually observed across the globe on 27 September to raise awareness among the international community of the importance of tourism and its social, cultural, political and economic value.

·               The WTD was initiated by the United Nations World Trade Organisation (UNWTO)

·               Host Country of WTD 2022: Indonesia

·               The theme of World Tourism Day for 2022 is ‘Rethinking Tourism’.

·               The Telangana Legislative Assembly and Council has approved the University of forestry (UoF) Act-2022.

·               It will be India’s 1st & world’s 3rd Forestry university.

·               In the World, only Russia and China have forest universities.

·               Telangana Government has decided to expand Forest College and Research Institute (FCRI), Hyderabad, Telangana into a full-fledged University of Forestry (UoF).

·               Kalvakuntla Chandrashekar Rao, Chief Minister of Telangana will be the Chancellor of the University of Forestry.

1.         COMMITTEE TO REVIEW MARKETING PRACTICES OF PHARMA COMPANIES

·           The Central Government has formed a 5-member high-level committee to review marketing practices of pharmaceutical companies in India.

·           It will be chaired by Vinod Kumar (VK) Paul member (health), NITI (National Institution for Transforming India) Aayog.

·           It will also review various other issues pertaining to the Uniform Code of Pharmaceutical Marketing Practices (UCPMP), and recommend legally enforceable measures against firms indulging in malpractices.

·           The Indian Medical Council Regulations, 2002, details professional misconduct by medical practitioners , including accepting gifts from drug companies and commissions from laboratories.

 

2.         INDIA WON UN AWARDS FOR ‘INDIA HYPERTENSION CONTROL INITIATIVE (IHCI)’

·           India won a 2022 United Nations (UN) Interagency Task Force, and WHO Special Programme on Primary Health Care Award’ for its ‘India Hypertension Control Initiative (IHCI)’, a Large-scale hypertension intervention under the National Health Mission (NHM) at the UN General Assembly.

·           IHCI is a collaborative initiative of the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), state governments and the World Health Organization(WHO)-India.

·           The Indian Government has adopted the “25 by 25” goal to reduce premature mortality due to Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) by 25% by 2025.

 

3.         INDIAN COAST GUARD INDUCTS ICGS SAMARTH IN ITS FLEET

·           The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) has inducted ‘Samarth’  to strengthen the coastal security mechanism.

·           The ship has been based at Kochi, Kerala from Goa under the operational command of Coast Guard District Headquarters-4 (Kerala &Mahe), Kochi.

·           Integrated Coast Guard Ship (ICGS) Samarth is a 105 metre-long ship that is designed with a maximum speed of 23 knots (approximately 43 Kmph).

·           Recently, a new capital ship Saksham joined the Coast Guard fleet in Kerala.

·           Admiral R Hari Kumar, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) is the chief guest of the launching ceremony.

 

4.         INDIA WILL HOST THE MAIDEN MOTO GP RACE IN 2023

·           India will be hosting a maiden MotoGP (Grand Prix motorcycle racing) World Championships race, named the ‘Grand Prix of Bharat’ at the Buddh International Circuit in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh in the following year (2023).

·           Riders from 19 countries will participate in the event.

 

5.         WORLD RHINO DAY 2022 – SEPTEMBER 22 

·           World Rhino Day is annually observed across the globe on September 22 to spread awareness about the different types of Rhinos and the existential risks they face.

·           The theme of World Rhino Day 2022 is Five Rhino Species Forever. 

·           The 5 species of Rhino are,2 African rhino species – black and white rhinos.

·           3 Asian rhino species – Greater One-Horned, Sumatran and Javan rhinos.

·           According to the list of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), critically endangered species are Javan, Sumatran and Black rhinos; Near Threatened is white rhinos; Vulnerable is Greater One-Horned.

 

6.         WORLD CAR-FREE DAY 2022- SEPTEMBER 22 

·           The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), World Car-Free Day is annually observed across the globe on September 22 to encourage people to give up their cars for a day and adopt using non-motorized transport like riding a bicycle or walking.

·           The World Health Organization reported that environmental air pollution alone caused roughly 4.2 million deaths in 2016.

 

7.         INDIA, PAKISTAN, SRI LANKA, BANGLADESH AND NEPAL FORMED APOA

·           The 25th Globoil Summit 2022, organized by Tefla’s, was held in Agra, Uttar Pradesh (UP) which saw the participation of 1,500 attendees from 50 countries.  

·           During the summit,  the apex edible oil industry associations from five major palm oil importing countries from Asia viz. India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal have formed an Asian Palm Oil Alliance (APOA).

·           APOA secretariat will be initially managed by The Solvent Extractors’ Association (SEA) of India.

·           Chairman– Atul Chaturvedi, Director of Adani Wilmar Ltd and the President of SEA, was elected as the first Chairman of the APOA

 

8.         REC LTD BECOMES 12TH COMPANY TO GET MAHARATNA CPSE STATUS

·           The Government of India (GoI) accorded the status of Maharatna Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE) to REC Limited (formerly Rural Electrification Corporation Limited), a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC), specialised in financing for energy sectors.

·           REC Limited was a Navratna company under the administrative control of the Ministry of Power.

·           REC Limited can now make investments up to Rs 5,000 crore, or 15% of its web price, in a single mission after its Maharatna standing.

·           A company must be listed on an Indian inventory alternate and have an average annual turnover of over Rs25,000 crore throughout the earlier three years to be categorised as a Maharatna standing.

·           It must also have a mean annual web price throughout the earlier three years of greater than Rs 15,000 crore and a mean web revenue of over Rs 5,000 crore throughout the identical interval.

·           India has 13 Navratna and 74 Miniratna CPSEs.

 

9.         THE OVAL, LORD’S WILL HOST NEXT TWO ICC WORLD TEST CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS IN 2023 & 2025

·           The International Cricket Council (ICC) announced that the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final will be hosted by The Oval, London, England  in June 2023 and the 2025 edition of WTC Final will be played at Lord’s, London.

·           The Lord’s  earlier hosted several high profile ICC matches, including the2019 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup final.
