1. SBI INCORPORATES WHOLLY OWNED SUBSIDIARY FOR PREMISES AND ESTATE MATTERS OF SBI
i. The State Bank of India has legally incorporated SBI Infra Management Solutions Pvt. Ltd. as a wholly owned subsidiary of SBI. SBIIMS Pvt. Ltd. will now manage the premises and estate related matters of SBI.
ii. The new subsidiary will save the time of bank employees who earlier performed these non-core functions. Now these employees can handle the core functions of the bank and increase the efficiency.
iii. SBIIMS Pvt. Ltd. will handle the advisory services, transaction management, facility management and implementation of policies and initiatives.


2. ARUNACHAL PRADESH LAUNCHES ADARSH GRAM YOJANA FOR RURAL POOR
i. The Arunachal Pradesh government has launched a new scheme Adarsh Gram Yojana that is in accordance with the basic philosophy of the Prime Minister “Sabka Saath Sabka Vikaas”.
ii. The scheme aims to reach the poor people in rural areas of the state to serve them better.
iii. Under this scheme, 123 villages will be developed as ‘Model Villages’ during the fiscal year 2017-18.
iv. The state government has allocated an amount of Rs.93 cr in the Budget 2017-18 for infrastructure development and for creating employment opportunities and community assets for the people of those villages.

3. NARENDRA KUMAR APPOINTED NEW CHAIRMAN OF CENTRAL WATER COMMISSION
i. Narendra Kumar has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Central Water Commission  with effect from March 9 upon the superannuation of former Chairman GS Jha.
ii. A Central Water Engineering Service officer, Narendra Kumar  became CWC member in October 2014.
iii. Before this, Kumar had served in the Commission as its assistant director in Design Organisation, deputy director in Project Appraisal Directorate and director in Dam Safety Organisation and Project Monitoring Directorate.

4. PRESIDENT APPOINTS NEW CHIEF JUSTICES IN KERALA, MP, PATNA, JHARKHAND, CHATTISGRAH HCS
i. The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee announced the appointment of new Chief Justices in the state of Madhya Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Patna and Jharkhand High Courts.
ii. Justice Thottathil Bhaskaran Nair Radhakrishnan, Judge of the Kerala High Court was appointed as Chief Justice of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
iii. Judge of the Patna High Court, Justice Navaniti Prasad Singh, has been appointed to be the Chief Justice of the Kerala High Court.
iv. Justice Hemant Gupta, Judge of the Patna High Court appointed to be the Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court.
v. Judge of the Madhya Pradesh High Court, Justice Rajendra Menon, to be the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court.
vi. Justice Pradip Kumar Mohanty, Judge of Jharkhand High Court has been appointed to be the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court.

5. INDIA RANKED 132 IN THE LATEST EDITION OF FIFA RANKING
i. In the latest FIFA ranking for the month of March Indian Football team dropped two places and is now ranked at 132nd spot as compared to 130 in February FIFA ranking.
ii. Argentina topped in FIFA ranking with 1644 points, followed by Brazil at 2nd spot with 1534 points and Germany at 3rd spot with 1443 points. Chile and Belgium are ranked at 4th and 5th respectively in the FIFA rankings for the month of March.

6. CHEMISTRY NOBEL LAUREATE GEORGE OLAH DIED
i. Hungarian–American chemist George Olah was passed away in in Beverly Hills, USA.
ii. Olah received the chemistry Nobel Prize for his work on carbocations in 1994.
iii. He also won the American Chemical Society’s Priestley Medal and the SzĂ©chenyi Grand Prize of Hungary.
