1. ELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA LAUNCHES NATIONAL CONTACT CENTRE
i. The Election Commission of India has launched National Contact Centre.The National Contact Centre is operated on a National Grievance Redressal System Software.
ii. This software is a single window platform to manage complaints and feedback received through calls, SMS, emails and website access in an integrated and time-bound manner.
iii. Each state and UT will also soon setup and operationalize dedicated State Contact Centre and District Contact Centre.
iv. It will ensure seamless flow of information across the contact centers for handling issues/ query from citizens.

2. AHMEDABAD TO HOST BIGGEST EVER INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY EVENT ON JUNE 21
i. Ahmedabad is going to host biggest International Yoga Day event on 21st June. The event will include the participation of 5 Lakh people.
ii. The event would be inaugurated by the state’s CM Vijay Rupani and BJP president Amit Shah.
iii. It would be jointly hosted by the city’s GMDC and AES grounds.

3. UNION ROAD TRANSPORT MINISTER NITIN GADKARI LAUNCHES NHAI’S FIRST MASALA BOND IN UK
i. The National Highways Authority of India has raised Rs. 3000 cr through Masala Bonds at London Stock Exchange. Funds raised through these Masala Bonds will be used for constructing roads and transport infrastructure in India.
ii. The NHAI Masala Bonds issue was launched by Nitin Gadkari, Union Road Transport Minister in London.
iii. Initially, issue size of NHAI Masala Bonds was Rs. 1500 cr. Owing to positive response from investors, the issue size was raised to Rs. 3000 cr. These bonds will give 3% annual returns to investors.

4. VVS LAXMAN NAMED AN HONORARY LIFE MEMBER OF MCC
i. Former India batsman V V S Laxman was awarded an honorary life membership to the Marylebone Cricket Club.
ii. Laxman is the 5th Indian to receive the honour, after Sachin Tendulkar, Sourav Ganguly, Rahul Dravid and Zaheer Khan.


5. BAHAMAS ELECTS HUBERT MINNIS AS NEW PRIME MINISTER
i. Dr. Hubert Minnis has been elected as the new PM of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas. He defeated Perry Christie’s Progressive Liberal Party in a 34-5 parliamentary split.
ii. Minnis will be sworn in as Prime Minister by Governor General Marguerite Pindling.

6. JUSTICE MUDGAL ELECTED AS CHAIRMAN OF FIFA GOVERNANCE COMMITTEE
i. Justice Mukul Mudgal was elected as the Chairman of FIFA Governance Committee. The appointment was made at the world football governing body’s 67th Congress at Manama, Bahrain.
ii. Justice Mukul Mudgal is a retired Indian judge of Delhi High Court. Mudgal currently served as the Deputy Chairman of the Committee.

7. INDIA TEST-FIRES ‘SPYDER’ SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILE FROM ODISHA TEST RANGE
i. India test fired ‘Spyder’ surface-to-air-missile at a test range in Odisha. This trial was conducted for validating several parameters of the sophisticated weapon system in order to strengthen India’s air defence system.
ii. It was originally a short range air-to-air defence system, but was later modified to be used as surface-to-air defence system. It can strike enemy targets within a range of 15 km and at heights between 20-and-9,000 metres

8. RAMCO GROUP CHAIRMAN RAMASUBRAHANEYA RAJHA PASSES AWAY
i. P.R. Ramasubrahmaneya Rajha, Chairman of Ramco Group, an industrialist has passed away in Rajapalayam.
ii. Ramasubrahaneya was a philanthropist, educationist and an ardent devotee of the Sringeri Mutt.
