1.      VICE PRESIDENT NAIDU LAUNCHES DEEN DAYAL DIVYANGAJAN SAHAJYA SCHEME IN ASSAM
i. On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu launched Deen Dayal Divyangajan Sahajya Scheme in Guwahati, Assam. Under this scheme, every differently abled person in Assam would be entitled to aone-time grant of Rs 5000 for their treatment.
ii. The launch function was attended by Assam Governor, Jagadish Mukhi and Assam Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal. At the launch function, Vice President Naidu praised Assam Government for introducing ‘Pranam Act’ under which, all government employees can make contributions from their salaries for the welfare of elderly and differently abled family members.
iii. According to 2011 census, India is home to 2.21 per cent of the total 15 per cent of differently abled population in the world.


2.      FOREX RESERVES CLAW BACK TO $400-BN MARK AGAIN
i. According to the weekly data from the Reserve Bank of India, India’s foreign exchange reserves crossed the $ 400-billion mark again, in the week to November 24, 2017. As per RBI data, forex reserves increased by $ 1.208 billion to touch $ 400.741 billion.
ii. In the previous week, forex reserves rose by $ 240.4 million to $ 399.533 billion. The latest surge in forex reserves came solely on the back of increase in foreign currency assets.
iii. Foreign currency assets is a major component of the overall reserves and currently stands at $376.304 billion in the week to November 24, 2017. For the reporting week, Gold reserves remained unchanged at $ 20.666 billion while special drawing rights with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) marginally declined by $ 0.1 million to $ 1.497 billion.

3.      CORPORATION BANK LAUNCHES RUPAY CREDIT CARDS
i. Corporation Bank has launched its RuPay Select and RuPay Platinum credit cards. Corporation Bank’s RuPay credit cards are accepted at all RuPay-enabled 1.5 million plus PoS terminals and 80,000 plus e-commerce merchants in India and all ICS Partner acceptance points (POS, e-commerce merchants) globally.
ii. Jai Kumar Garg, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Corporation Bank, unveiled the cards in Mangaluru.

4.      IRANIAN PRESIDENT INAUGURATES FIRST PHASE OF CHABAHAR PORT
i. The first phase of Chabahar port was inaugurated by Iranian President Hassan Rouhani. The port, located in Iran’s southeastern Sistan-Baluchestan Province, was inaugurated in the presence of representatives from India, Afghanistan and several other countries of the region. The port will open up a new strategic transit route between Iran, India and Afghanistan, bypassing Pakistan.
ii. The port is likely to ramp up trade between India, Afghanistan and Iran in the wake of Pakistan denying transit access to New Delhi for trade with the two countries.

5.      HDFC BANK’S ADITYA PURI ONLY INDIAN ON FORTUNE’S BUSINESSPERSON OF THE YEAR TOP 20 LIST
i. Aditya Puri, the Managing Director of HDFC Bank, is the only Indian on Fortune’s ‘Businessperson of the Year 2017’ list.
ii. The Businessperson of the Year list is an annual ranking of world’s top 20 heads of companies. At the 18th position, Aditya Puri is the only head of an Indian company on the list. Aditya Puri has been the Managing Director of HDFC Bank since its inception in 1994. Nvidia’s Jensen Huang, a Taiwan-born American entrepreneur and businessman, has topped the list.
iii. Some others who made it to the list are: Jamie Dimon of JP Morgan Chase, Marc Benioff of Salesforce, Mary Dillion of Ulta Beauty, Francisco D’Souza of Cognizant, Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook, Shantanu Narayen of Adobe Systems.

6.      S K CHOURASIA APPOINTED AS DGOF AND CHAIRMAN OF ORDNANCE FACTORY BOARD
i. Sunil Kumar Chourasia, Indian Ordnance Factories Service, has been appointed as the new Director General of Ordnance Factories and Chairman of the Ordnance Factory Board with effect from 1st December, 2017.
ii. Previously, S K Chourasia was Member of OFB and was in charge of Material & Components division. He joined Indian Ordnance Factories Service in 1981. He was selected to work in Government of India as Deputy Secretary and thereafter Director in Ministry of Defence from 1992 to 1997. He was Chief Vigilance Officer in PSUs from 2002 to 2005.
iii. From 2005 to 2008, he held the post of Director  & Commissioner for Departmental Enquiries at Central Vigilance Commission. Before taking over as Member at OFB, he was the General Manager of Heavy Alloy Penetrator Project, Trichy & Senior General Manager of Ordnance Factory Kanpur.

7.      VIRAT KOHLI SURPASSES BRIAN LARA FOR MOST DOUBLE CENTURIES AS CAPTAIN
i. There is no stopping Virat Kohli. Just a day after becoming the first captain to register a hat-trick of centuries in a three-match series, the Indian skipper scaled yet another milestone when he scored his sixth double century, the highest as a captain. He overtook West Indies great Brian Lara, who held the record previously with five double tons in Tests.
ii. With a sixth double hundred, Kohli has also tied Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag for the most 200-plus scores for India in Tests. While Tendulkar had six double centuries, Sehwag had recorded four double and two triple hundreds.

8.      NATION REMEMBERS INDIA'S FIRST PRESIDENT ON HIS BIRTHDAY
i. Nation on 03rd December 2017 remembered India's first President Rajendra Prasad on his 133rd birthday. Born on December 3, 1884, in Siwan, Bihar, Prasad was a Gandhian and participated in India's freedom movement.
ii. Dr Prasad was one of the prominent leaders of the Indian Nationalist Movement alongside Jawaharlal Nehru, Vallabhbhai Patel and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

9.      INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DISABLED PERSONS: 03RD DECEMBER
i. The annual observance of the International Day of Disabled Persons (3 December) was proclaimed in 1992, by the United Nations General Assembly.  It aims to promote the rights and well-being of persons with disabilities in all spheres of society and development, and to increase awareness of the situation of persons with disabilities in every aspect of political, social, economic and cultural life.
ii. 2017 Theme was “Transformation towards sustainable and resilient society for all”.
