1. ARUN JAITLEY RELEASED ‘INDIA-2016’ AND ‘BHARAT-2016’ YEAR BOOKS
i. Union Minister for Information & Broadcasting Arun Jaitley released  two year books named ‘Bharat 2016’ and ‘India 2016’ .
ii. These books will provide complete information about the various States and Union Territories and the economy of India.
iii. It also provides detailed information on various schemes and projects of Government and its various departments.

2. LYRICIST SAMEER ANJAAN’S NAMES  ENTERED IN GUINNESS BOOK OF WORLD RECORDS
i. Bollywood’s popular lyricist Sameer Anjaan’s name has been entered into Guinness Book of World Records.
 ii. He was rewarded for writing the most number of songs for Bollywood films.
iii. He has provided lyricst to more than 3,524 songs for 650 Bollywood movies.

3. JAYANT MISRA APPOINTED AS DG OF DRI
i. Jayant Misra has been appointed as Director General of Directorate of Revenue Intelligence.
ii. A Special Investigation Team is formed to verify the whether USD 505 billion was transacted out of the country between 2004-2013 as part of money laundering.

4. UNION GOVERNMENT NOD FOR BUILDING OF 82000 HOUSES FOR POOR IN URBAN AREAS OF 163 CITIES
i. The Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation sanctioned construction of around eighty two thousand houses for Economically Weaker Sections in urban areas of 163 cities.
ii. The cities approved are in West Bengal, Telangana, Bihar, Mizoram, Rajashtan, Jharkhand and Uttarakhand.
iii. The Government has  sanctioned construction of houses  Under the Prime Minister’s Awas Yojana .
iv. The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been launched by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for Housing for All by the year 2022. 
v. The Scheme has been launched by the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi on 25th June 2015.

5. US PRESIDENT OBAMA SIGNED A NEW LAW IMPOSING SANCTIONS AGAINST NORTH KOREA
i. United States  President Barack Obama signed  a new law imposing new sanctions against North Korea.
ii. The new law sanctions are aimed at punishing North Korea for its provocative recent nuclear test and rocket launch.
iii. The law was passed by the US Congress against  North Korea  after it refused to stop its nuclear programme.
iv. The sanctions aims at stopping sources of cash for the regime by sanctioning trade in coal, minerals and precious metals.

6. CABINET GIVES NOD TO BRICS MOU FOR COOPERATION IN SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY AND INNOVATION
i. The Union Cabinet has signed a BRICS Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the fields of Science, Technology and innovation.
ii. It will promote cooperation in the field of STI among BRICS countries.
Iii. BRICS nations will share the experiences and complementarities in STI in order to co-generate new knowledge and innovative products, services and processes.

7. BHEL COMMISSIONED 270 MW UNIT OF GVK POWER PLANT IN PUNJAB
i. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd commissioned a 270 MW generation unit at the Goindwal Sahib Thermal Power Project in Punjab.
ii. Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd is a power plant equipment manufacturer  owned by the Government of India.

iii. It is India's largest engineering and manufacturing company of its kind
