1. INDIA’S FIRST E-LOK ADALAT
·        Chhattisgarh State Legal Service Authority and the high Court organised India’s first e-Lok Adalat to ensure the administration of justice and to solve the financial crisis of the parties and lawyers amid COVID-19 pandemic.
·        The high court Chief Justice P R Ramchandra Menon inaugurated the e-Lok Adalat through video conferencing.
·        Lok Adalat is one of the alternative dispute grievance mechanisms or a forum where pending cases or disputes in the court of law are settled or compromised whereas e-lok adalat will be handled virtually.

2. BECOMING THE SECOND-LARGEST FOREIGN INVESTOR IN UK
·        According to the United Kingdom’s government’s figures released on 10 July 2020, India has become the second largest Forign Direct Investor in the United Kingdom (UK) after the United States in 2019, by investing in 120 projects and creating 5,429 new jobs in the UK.
·        India increased with a 4% FDI increase for the UK on 2018-19 with 1,852 new inward investment projects in the 2019/2020 financial year. 

3. 2020 DADA SAHEB PHALKE AWARD FOR ‘CHI LUPO’
·        An independent filmmaker, Kezang D Thongdok won the 2020 Dada Saheb Phalke Award for his documentary “Chi Lupo” – showcasing the practice of collection of honey from the perched rocky hilltops.
·        The documentary Chi Lupo portrays the customs and practices of the Shertukpen community.
·        The Chi in the title of the documentary refers to honey and Lupo refers to hunter. 

4. GOVERNMENT LAUNCHES ASEEM PORTAL
·        Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey , Union Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship(MoSDE) launched the Aatamanirbhar  Skilled Employee-Employer Mapping (ASEEM) portal, which maps the demand of skilled workforce to find available sustainable livelihood opportunities.
·        ASEEM is available as an online portal and mobile application developed and managed by National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with Betterplace, a Bengaluru based company.

5. IAF RECEIVED LAST 5 AH-64E APACHE ATTACK HELICOPTERS
·        US based Aerospace Company Boeing, has delivered the last 5 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters to Indian Air Force (IAF) at the Air Force Station, Hindan, Uttar Pradesh.
·        This final 5 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters were part of a deal that was signed by Indian Government & Boeing in the year 2015 to deliver 22 AH-64E Apache attack helicopters .
·        Also the Chinook is a transport helicopter for carrying troops, artillery guns and other equipment.

6. BOOK-‘A SONG OF INDIA’
·        The book titled  ‘A Song of India’ authored  by Ruskin Bond  to be released on July 20, 2020, which will mark the 70th year of the author’s literary career.
·        The book is the 4th  installment in his memoir series(a written record of a person’s own life and experiences).
·         The book portrays his unknown life before he became a successful author.
·        His memoir series are, “Looking for the Rainbow” (2017), “Till the Clouds Roll By” (2017) and “Coming Round the Mountain” (2019).

7. WORLD POPULATION DAY 2020: JULY 11
·        Theme of 2020– The theme of 2020 is to safeguard the sexual and reproductive health care, protect the health and rights of women and girls, and end gender-based violence.

1. REWA SOLAR PROJECT IN MADHYA PRADESH
·        Asia’s largest solar power project: Rewa Ultra Mega Solar Power Project in Madhya Pradesh is inaugurated by PM Narendra Modi, through video conferencing.
·        The 750 MW ultra-solar power plant spread over 1,590 acres.
·        It reduces emission equivalent to 15 lakh tonne of carbon dioxide per year.
·        The Delhi Metro will get 24% of energy from the project, and the 76% will be supplied to state DISCOMs of Madhya Pradesh.
·        The Rewa Solar Power project received the World Bank Group President’s Award. 

2. FIRST FIVE RE-PRINTED VOLUMES OF MONGOLIAN KANJUR MANUSCRIPTS
·        Under the National Mission for Manuscripts (NMM), The Ministry of Culture has taken up the project of re-printing 108 volumes of Mongolian Kanjur.
·        A set of First Five manuscripts were presented to Shri Ram Nath Kovind, the President of India on Guru Purnima (Dharma Chakra Day) on 4th July 2020.
·        The Buddhist Canonical text in 108 volumes is the most important religious text in Mongolia.‘Kanjur’ means ‘Concise Orders’, the words of Lord Buddha.
·        The ‘Mongolian Kanjur’ in 108 volumes was published by Prof. Lokesh Chandra (Former MP of Rajya Sabha) in India in the 1970s.

1. SPACE TECHNOLOGY & ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE TO MONITOR GOVERNMENT LANDS
·        The Chief Minister of Odisha, Naveen Patnaik, launched the Bhubaneswar Land Use Intelligence System (BLUIS), a flagship development of the General Administration and Public grievances departments.
·        Odisha becomes the first state in India to use high resolution satellite imagery utilising space technology and artificial intelligence to monitor government lands.
·        Bhubaneswar Land Use Intelligence System (BLUIS) is a web and mobile based solution to monitor the unauthorised change of land use and to prevent the encroachment of government lands.
·        The GPS of the system will provide the exact location to the enforcement authorities.

2. RESEARCH ON COVID-19 & PATIENT DATA ANALYSIS
·        The Alumni Council of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Alumni Council) signed an agreement for joint research on COVID-19 and patient data analysis with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research – Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology (CSIR-IGIB).
·        The IIT Alumni Council is setting up the “MegaLab” in Mumbai, the world’s largest molecular diagnostic lab and “MegaTx” antibody facility for treatment based biologics as a part of this partnership.
·        This is the largest body of Alumni, students and faculty of all the 23 IITs and other partnering technical institutes.

1. WORLD’S 2ND LARGEST & ASIA’S LARGEST DATA CENTRE
·        Uddhav Thackeray & Ravi Shankar Prasad, inaugurated the World’s 2nd Largest & Asia’s Largest Data Center‘Yotta NM1 Data Center’ of Yotta Infrastructure of Hiranandani Group at Panvel data centre park, Mumbai over a virtual platform.
·        Yotta NM1 is the first of five data centre buildings coming up at the Integrated Yotta Data Center Park.The NM1, Yotta’s largest data centre, received the fault tolerant tier IV certification of the Design Documents Certification from the Uptime Institute, USA.

2. US NOTIFIED UN OF ITS DECISION TO WITHDRAW FROM WHO
·        United States of America (USA), as a depositary of the 1946 Constitution of the World Health Organization (WHO),  has formally notified the UN of its decision of withdrawal from the global health body, WHO .
·        The US, which has been a party to the WHO Constitution since June 21, 1948 is the largest funder to the WHO, contributing more than USD 450 million per annum.
·        Notably, the US has to follow the withdrawal conditions including one year notice period and paying outstanding financial obligations, which were agreed at the time of joining the WHO.
·         In this regard, the US has to serve a 12-month notice period i.e. till July 6, 2021 and also needs to clear the current and past dues which currently owe the WHO around $200 million.

1. ASSAM GOVERNMENT TO UPGRADE DEHING PATKAI WS TO NATIONAL PARK
·        Assam has decided to upgrade the 111.942 sq km Dehing Patkai Wildlife Sanctuary into a national park which is located within the larger Dehing Patkai Elephant Reserve, spreading across the coal- and oil-rich districts of Upper Assam
·        Dehing Patkai, also known as Amazon of East.
·        It is also the place with the highest concentration of the rare endangered White Winged Wood Duck.

2. 1ST CHAIRMAN IFSC AUTHORITY
·        Government appointed former corporate affairs secretary and IAS officer, Injeti Srinivas as the 1st chairman of the International Financial Services Centre Authority(IFSCA) for a 3 years term.
·        IFSCA regulates all financial services in international financial services centres (IFSCs) in Gandhinagar.
·        The Union government had notified that it had  set up the IFSCA on April 27, 2020.The notification has  brought into effect certain provisions of the IFSCA Act, 2019, in relation to its functioning.

3. MCA EXTENDS TENURE OF CHAIRPERSON OF NCLAT
·        The Ministry of Corporate Affairs(MCA) has extended the term of Justice(Retd.) Bansi Lal Bhat, as the acting chairperson of National Company Law Appellate Tribunal(NCLAT) by 3 month, effective from June 15.
·        Bansi Lal Bhat also holds the post of Member (Judicial) at the appellate tribunal.

1. INDIAN RAILWAYS SETS UP SOLAR PLANT IN BINA
·        For the 1st time in the world, Indian Railways will directly supply power to Overhead Traction System of train.
·        To achieve this feat, Indian Railways has recently set up 1.7 MWp (mega watt power) at Bina (Madhya Pradesh) which shall be connected directly to Overhead Traction System.
·        Indian Railways has partnered with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme for this first of its kind project in the world.
·        Indian Railways will transform itself as ‘Net Zero’ Carbon Emission Mass Transportation Network by 2030.

2. CBSE PARTNERS WITH FACEBOOK FOR CURRICULUM ON DIGITAL SAFETY
·        The Union Minister for HRD Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ made an announcement on the partnership of Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and Facebook to launch a curriculum on Digital Safety and Online well-being and Augmented Reality (AR) for students and educators.
·        To ensure online well being of students and prepare them for the future of work.

3. SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT REPORT 2020
·        In accordance with the “Sustainable Development Report 2020- The Sustainable Development Goals and Covid-19”, comprising of SDG index 2020, there will be severe negative impacts on most of the United Nations (UN)-mandated Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) due to COVID-19 pandemic.
·        India, which has ranked at 117th position with a score of 61.92 is also facing major challenges in 10 of the 17 SDGs including zero hunger, good health, gender inequality among others.
·        The index has been topped by Sweden.

1. ‘AATMA NIRBHAR BHARAT APP INNOVATION CHALLENGE’ FOR TECHIES
·        The ‘Aatma Nirbhar Bharat App Innovation Challenge’ for Indian tech entrepreneurs and startups was launched by PM Narendra Modi, with an objective to support and build Aatmanirbhar App Ecosystem.
·        Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (Meity) in partnership with Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) launched the challenge & will  regulate the challenge.
·        The app innovation challenge launched to identify the best Indian Apps that are already being used by citizens and having potential to scale and become world class.

2. ‘FIT HAI TO HIT HAI INDIA’ WEBINAR & ‘FIT INDIA TALKS’ SESSIONS
·        “Fit Hai To Hit Hai India” webinar program was launched, under the India’s flagship Fit India campaign, by the Union Minister of HRD Dr Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ & Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Affairs Kiren Rijiju.
·        This webinar marked the launch of ‘#FitIndiaTalks’, which will see a series of talks and interactive sessions being held by leading sports celebrities for students.
·        MHRD has set a target that by 2028 India must be in the top 10 countries at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
·        In this regard, the ministry is going to start a Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS) Junior, besides the already existing TOPS senior, for grooming the potential juniors as well for the 10-12 year olds.

1. 33 FIGHTER JETS TO BE PROCURED
·        Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) has given its consent for the capital acquisition of various platforms and equipment required by the Indian Armed Forces, Army, Navy and the Air Force, worth Rs 38,900 crore.
·        Pinaka ammunition: Acquisition of Pinaka missile systems will enable raising additional regiments over and above the ones already inducted. It is all-weather, indirect fire, free flight artillery rocket system.
·        Long Range Land Attack Cruise Missile (LRLACM): Having a firing range of 1,000 kilometres to the existing arsenal,  LRLACM  addition will bolster the attack capabilities of the Navy and the Air Force.
·        Astra Missiles: Induction of Air-to-Air Missile (AAM) Astra, having Beyond Visual Range (BVR) capability, will serve as a force multiplier to the strike capability of the Navy and Air Force. 
·        DAC approved procurement of 33 fighter aircrafts & upgradation of existing 59 Mig-29 aircraft 
·        DAC also approved the proposal for procurement of 33 fighter jets including 21 MIG-29 ((Mikoyan-Gurevich) and 12 Su-30 MKI (Modernizirovannyi, Kommercheskiy, Indiski where ‘Su’ is Sukhoi) aircraft along with upgradation of existing 59 MIG-29 aircraft.

2. RUSSIANS GRANT PUTIN RIGHT TO EXTEND HIS RULE UNTIL 2036
·        The 77.9% Russian electorate have voted in favour of constitutional amendments that will allow 67 years old President Vladimir Putin to stay in power until 2036 i.e. until the age of 83.
·        His current term of 6 years will end in 2024.
·        Means now, he will be re-elected twice under the constitutional amendments. He is already the longest-serving leader in modern Russian history.

1. SERB LAUNCHES ‘ACCELERATE VIGYAN’ SCHEME
·        The ‘Accelerate Vigyan’ (AV) scheme for research internships, was launched by the Union Government’s Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB).
·        Accelerate Vigyan works on mission mode, particularly during consolidation or aggregation for scientific events.
·        The new SAMMOHAN component under AV is which is divided into: ‘SAYONJIKA’ and ‘SANGOSHTI’.

2. PMGKAY DURING APRIL – NOV 2020 
·        PM Narendra Modi, announced the extension of Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Ann Yojana (PMGKAY) from July, 2020 till the end of November 2020. 
·        Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution has worked out estimated cost for distribution of food grains (Rice and Wheat) and pulses under PMGKAY, which will be Rs 1,48,938 crore approx for a period between 8 months from April to November 2020.
·        Initially launched from April, 2020 for 3 months, the scheme aims to provide  5 kg free wheat or rice per month along with 1 kg free whole chana (pulses) to each family per month covering 80 crore poor people.
