1.      7th India Skills Report 2020
ü  As per the report about 46.21% students were found employable or ready to take up jobs in 2019, compared with 33% in 2014, and 47.38% in 2018.Top ranked states in employability: Maharashtra emerged as the top-ranked state in terms of employability. It was followed by Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh(UP) in the second and third rank respectively.

2.      PradhanMantri Mudra Yojana
ü  An amount of Rs. 10.24 lakh crore have been disbursed under the PradhanMantri MUDRA Yojana(PMMY) as on November 1, 2019 as per the ministry of Labour and Employment. The loans under PMMY were sanctioned to 20.84 crore account holders.The scheme provides loan upto 10 lakh to the non-corporate, non-farm small/micro enterprises.


3.      17th edition of BioAsia 2020
ü  Switzerland will be the country partner at the 17th edition of BioAsia2020 scheduled to be in February 2020 with the theme “Today For Tomorrow” in Hyderabad, Telangana.

4.      Ayushman Bharat scheme
ü  Health ministry announced that over 65 lakh patients were treated under the Centre’s flagship Ayushman Bharat PradhanMantri Jan ArogyaYojana (AB-PMJAY) ever since its launch till December 5, 2019. The treatment costs were worth Rs. 9,549 crore.

5.      United States shuts down WTO appeal court
ü  The US decided to shut down the appeal court of WTO (World Trade Organisation) in response to WTOs decisions against the federal trade rules imposed by the US administration. WTO’s appeal court acts as a trade dispute settlement body for its member countries.

6.      Euromonitor’s list of ‘Top 100 City Destinations of 2019’
ü  7 cities in India are included in the list including the capital Delhi (11th position).Other Indian cities in list includes, Mumbai (14th ), Agra(26th), Chennai (36th ), Pink City Jaipur (39th position), Kolkata (76th ) and Bengaluru (100th ).Hong Kong continues to hold the top position.

7.       ‘World Habitat Award’
ü  Odisha won the ‘World Habitat Award’ for Jaga Mission also called Odisha Liveable Habitat Mission (OLHM), a slum land project executed for the benefit of millions of urban-poor people living in slums. The award was given by the World Habitat, a UK (United Kingdom) based organization which gives the award annually to recognize innovative housing projects around the world.

8.      World’s First fully electric commercial Seaplane
ü  World’s first fully electric commercial aircraft namely DHC-2 de Havilland Beaver takes test flight in Vancouver, Canada. Manufactured by Harbour Air and Magnix, the six-passenger e-plane’s first flight involved 750-horsepower (560 kW) magni500 propulsion system, and was piloted by Greg McDougall, founder and Chief Executive of Harbour Air.

9.      First woman Referee in Men’s ODI match
ü  GandikotaSarva Lakshmi, 51, former Indian Cricketer became the first woman referee in the Men’s ODI (One Day International) .The match is between the UAE and the United States of America (USA).

10.   13th South Asian Games
ü  XIII South Asian Games held in Kathmandu and Pokhara in Nepal. India topped the medal tally winning a total of 311 medals comprising 173 gold, 93 silver, and 45 bronze medals. India was followed by Nepal and sri Lanka in the second and third rank respectively. The highlights of the game are as follows:
ü  Mascot:  Blackbuck (Krishnashar)A total of 7 nations namely India, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Srilanka participated in the 27 games.

11.   International Mountain Day (IMD)-December 11
ü  The theme of IMD 2019 is “Mountains Matter for Youth”.  The day aims to conserve freshwater obtained from mountains which is also a part of Goal 15 of the SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals).

12.   World’s newest nation
ü  The South Pacific region of Bougainville was voted to become the world’s newest nation by gaining independence from Papua New Guinea. Bougainville is an island in Papua New Guinea.

13.   TIME’s Person of the Year for 2019
ü  Greta Thunberg, Swedish climate activist was named TIME’s Person of the Year for 2019, she is the youngest person to be honoured with the title in the 92 year history of TIME magazine.

14.    ‘Sportsperson of the year 2019’
ü  Indian women’s hockey team captain Rani Rampal (25) and Asian Games gold medalist shooter SaurabhChaudhary (17) were honored with the ‘Sports Person of the Year 2019’ award at the FICCI (Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry) India Sports Awards-2019 held at FICCI Federation House in New Delhi.

15.   RISAT-2BR1 successfully launched
ü  ISRO successfully launched India’s radar imaging earth observation satellite RISAT-2BR1 on board PLSV-C48 (Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle-48) from its spaceport of Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh. This is the 50th mission of PSLV and also the 75th vehicle mission from Sriharikota.

16.   India Vs West Indies T20I
ü  The Indian team defeated West Indies to win the T20I series for 2-1.Virat Kohli surpassed India’s Rohit Sharma to become leading run scorer in the T20I.

17.   International Universal Health Coverage Day-December 12, 2019
ü  Theme:  The theme for the UHC Day 2019 campaign is: “Keep the promise.”
