1.          ZERO DEFECT ZERO EFFECT (ZED) CERTIFICATION SCHEME

·            Union Minister for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Narayan Tatu Rane launched the Zero Defect Zero Effect (ZED) Certification Scheme.

·            Under the ZED certification scheme, the MSMEs will get subsidies in enterprises such as, Micro Enterprises: 80%,Small Enterprises: 60%,Medium Enterprises: 50%

·            An additional subsidy of 10% provided for the MSMEs owned by Women/Schedule Caste (SC)/Schedule Tribe (ST) Entrepreneurs or MSMEs in North Eastern Railway (NER) /Himalayan/Left Wing Extremism (LWE)/Island territories/aspirational districts.

·            Also there will be an additional subsidy of 5% for MSMEs which are a part of the Scheme of Fund for Regeneration of Traditional Industries (SFURTI) OR Micro & Small Enterprises – Cluster Development Programme (MSE-CDP) of the Ministry. 

·            Also a joining reward of Rs. 10,000/- will be offered to each MSME once they take the ZED Pledge.

·            A provision of up to Rs 5 lakh (per MSME) will be made available for handholding and consultancy support for MSMEs under ZED Certification to move towards ZED solutions. 

 

2.          FINANCE MINISTER NIRMALA SITHARAMAN VISIT TO US

·            India’s Union Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, Ministry of Finance was on an official visit to the United States (US) to attend the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank (WB) Group, and the G20 (Group of Twenty) Finance Ministers and the Central Bank Governor (FMCBG) Meeting.

·            The G20 FMCBG 2022 meeting was held in Washington DC under Indonesia’s Presidency.

 

3.          WHITLEY GOLD AWARD 2022

·            Charudutt Mishra have been honoured with the Whitley Fund for Nature (WFN)’s Whitley Gold Award 2022 for his work in 12 snow leopard range countries including Afghanistan, China and Russia. 

·            Dr Charudutt Mishra is the Founder Trustee of Bengaluru-based Nature Conservation Foundation,a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) established in 1996 to promote science-based wildlife conservation in India. 

·            Whitley Awards, often referred to by others as ‘Green Oscars’, are the flagship prizes of the WFN.

 

4.          INDIA USE SATELLITE-BASED LANDING PROCEDURE,”GAGAN”

·            India became the first country in the Asia-Pacific to have satellite-based landing procedure (SBAS) using the GAGAN System.

·            This feat was achieved after Indigo operated ATR 72-600 aircraft using indigenously developed Satellite Based Augmentation System (SBAS) GAGAN (GPS-Aided GEO Augmented Navigation) to land at the Kishangarh Airport, Rajasthan.

·            LPV (Localiser Performance with Vertical Guidance) is a Satellite-Based Procedure that has been used by the aircraft for landing purposes at Kishangarh Airport (Rajasthan).

·            The three other Countries which use their own SBAS system are – US (Wide Area Augmentation System), Japan (MTSAT Satellite Augmentation System) and Europe (European Geostationary Navigation Overlay Service).

·            Aircrafts rely on radio navigation aids and visibility requirements for precision landing and approaches. For instance, visibility requirement for regular passenger flights at Kishangarh is 5,000 metres (m). Using the GAGAN-based technology, an aircraft will be able to operate with a visibility of around 800 m.

 

5.          GAGANYAAN UNCREWED MODULE TO BE INJECTED IN 170X408KM

·            The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), as part of its Human Spaceflight (Gaganyaan) mission has finalised the launch of the first uncrewed mission or G1 into the orbit module 170×408 kilometre (KM) orbit through the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle Mark 3 (GSLV-Mk3) or Human-Rated Launch Vehicle (HRLV) by 2023.

 

6.          INTERNATIONAL JAZZ DAY 2022 – APRIL 30 

·            International Jazz Day is observed to raise awareness about the importance of jazz as an educational tool, and a force for promoting peace and dialogue among people from diverse cultures

·            The theme for International Jazz Day 2022 is ‘A Call for Global Peace and Unity’

·            In December 2012, the United Nations General Assembly(UNGA) formally welcomed the decision by the UNESCO General Conference to proclaim April 30 as International Jazz Day.
