1.              INDORE TO BECOME INDIA’S FIRST ‘SMART CITY’ WITH ‘SMART ADDRESSES’

·                Indore, Madhya Pradesh (MP) will become the first smart city with smart addresses after the implementation of a fully digital addressing system by the Indore Smart City.

·                A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Rajat Jain, co-founder of Pataa Navigations, and Rishav Gupta (IAS), CEO of Indore Smart City for advancing the smart city.

·                According to the MoU, Pataa app can be used by everyone and business and also all government agencies and emergency services including police, fire department, and ambulance for providing services like Electronic Know Your Customer (E-KYC) and geotagging.

·                Pataa Navigation will integrate with government platforms such as electricity, agriculture, excise, women and child welfare, and education to provide access to Digital Addressing Systems.

 

2.              PANCHAYATI RAJ MINISTRY & IRMA SIGNED MOU TO WORK TOWARDS SDGS

·                The Ministry of Panchayati Raj (MoPR), and the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), Gujarat signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen Panchayati Raj institutions across India.

·                The agreement will establish a framework under which MoPR and IRMA will collaborate in the area of Gram Panchayat Development Planning for Localization of Sustainable Development Goals (LSDGs) through Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs).

·                Under the agreement both MoPR and IRMA will work together to find gaps and possible solutions to overcome gaps in the preparation of model Gram Panchayat Development Plan(GPDP) linkages with LSDGs.

·                It will also bring the nine themes of LSDGs to the grassroots by linking with GPDP.

 

3.              SBI JOINS 5-TRILLION MARKET CAP

·                State Bank of India (SBI) has joined the Rs 5.03 trillion market capitalization (market cap) for the first time after its shares reached a record high of Rs 564.45 on the BSE index.

·                According to the data from BSE Limited, SBI stood at the 7th position in the overall market cap ranking, with a market cap of Rs 5.03 trillion.

·                SBI has become the 3rd lender in India to cross the market cap of Rs 5 trillion.

·                HDFC Bank, India’s largest private sender lender holds 1st  position with a market cap of Rs 8.38 trillion and ICICI Bank holds the 2nd position with a market cap of Rs 6.33 trillion.

 

4.              OECD REPORT: INDIA’S GDP GROWTH CONTRACTED BY 1.4% 

·                According to the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) report “G20 GDP Growth-Second Quarter of 2022”, India’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) declined by 1.4% quarter on quarter in the second quarter (Q2) [June-August] of 2022 when adjusted for seasonality.

·                In addition, it was the second-worst performance among the G20 (Group of Twenty) nations, after only China.

·                The highest growth rates in the quarter were in Saudi Arabia (2.2%) and Turkiye (2.1%).

·                Despite the sharp decrease in the G20’s overall GDP growth rate, Australia, Brazil, Italy, Japan, Korea, and Turkey had better growth in Q2 2022 than in the previous quarter.

·                The G20 is a strategic forum that brings together the world’s most important developed and emerging economies.

·                Members of the G20: Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkiye, the United Kingdom (UK), the United States (US), and the European Union (EU). Spain is also invited as a permanent guest.

5.              INDIAN ARMY CHIEF GEN. MANOJ PANDE CONFERRED THE TITLE ‘HONORARY GENERAL OF THE NEPALI ARMY’

·                Bidya Devi Bhandari, the President of Nepal conferred the Honorary General of the Nepali Army to General Manoj Chandrashekhar Pande, the Chief of Army Staff of the Indian Army.

·                Manoj Pande was conferred at a special ceremony at the President’s official residence ‘Shital Niwas’ in Kathmandu, Nepal.

·                General Manoj Pande, 1st officer from the Corps of Engineers to become the 29th Chief of Army Staff (COAS) with the effect from April 2022.

·                The 1st Indian Army Chief to be decorated with this title was KM Cariappa, Commander-in-Chief General in 1950.

·                In 2021, Chief of Nepali Army, General Prabhu Ram Sharma has conferred with Honorary General of the Indian Army by the former Indian President Ram Nath Kovind.

 

6.              15TH T20 ASIA CUP 2022

·                The 15th edition of 2022  Asia Cup cricket tournament with cricket format of Twenty20 International (T20I) was held between August 27 – September 11, 2022 in United Arab Emirates (UAE).

·                It was held at two venues of UAE viz. Dubai International Cricket Stadium (Dubai), and Sharjah Cricket Stadium (Sharjah).

·                The Championship title was grabbed by Sri Lanka by beating Pakistan in the finals with 23 runs.

·                It was its 6th Asia Cup title, and 1st in T20I format.

·                The next edition i.e. 16th will be hosted by Pakistan in 2023.

·                Virat Kohli becomes the first Indian to play 100 matches in all three formats.

·                India is the most successful team of Asia Cup with seven titles (six ODI and one T20I).

·                India won the last edition (14th) of Asia Cup in 2018 in ODI format.

 

7.              HINDI DIWAS 2022- SEPTEMBER 14

·                Hindi Diwas (Hindi Day) is annually observed across India on 14 September to mark the importance of the Hindi language.

·                World Hindi Day is annually observed on 10th January across the globe.

·                India’s first Prime Minister (PM), Jawaharlal Nehru decided to celebrate September 14 as ‘Hindi Diwas’.

·                Hindi was adopted as the official language of the Union of India on the 14th of September 1949.

·                Subsequently, Hindi in the Devanagari script was declared as one of the official languages of India along with the English language.

·                Indian parliament passed the Official Languages Act in 1963.

·                It allowed the usage of English along with Hindi, even after 1965.

 

8.              UNION CABINET APPROVES MORE CASTES IN STS LIST

·                The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister (PM) of India Narendra Modi approved the inclusion of several communities in the Schedule Tribes (STs) list of the Constitution across 5 states, as a part of the Constitution (Scheduled Tribes) Order (Amendment) Bill 2022.

·                The 5 states include, are Himachal Pradesh (HP), Tamil Nadu (TN), Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh (UP) and Chhattisgarh.

 

9.              ECI RELEASES ‘BLO E-PATRIKA‘ TO ESTABLISH DIRECT COMMUNICATION WITH BOOTH LEVEL OFFICERS

·                The Election Commission of India (ECI) launched a new digital publication, ‘BLO  e-Patrika‘, at a first-of-its-kind direct interactive session with Booth Level Officers (BLOs) from across India at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi, Delhi.

·                The bimonthly “BLO E-Patrika” is being introduced with the goal of ensuring a cascading information model for a more informed and committed BLO.

·                A BLO is a Local Government/Semi-Government official who is familiar with the local electorate and is typically a voter in the same polling area.

·                The institution of BLO was established by the ECI in 2006.

·                A BLO serves as a ECI representative at the grass-root level and is essential to the roll revision process as well as the collection of actual field data.

·                The themes of the e-Patrika will include Electronic Voting Machine (EVM)-Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) training, IT applications, Special Summary Revision, Minimum SVEEP (Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation) Activities at polling booths, Postal Ballot Facilities, Accessible Elections, Electoral Literacy Clubs, unique voter awareness activities, and National Voters’ Day.

10.           NITI AAYOG HOSTED FIRST SHOONYA FORUM

·                The NITI Aayog (National Institution for Transforming India) hosted the first Shoonya Forum in Delhi to commemorate the first anniversary of Shoonya, India’s zero-pollution e-mobility campaign.

·                The Shoonya initiative, which aims to promote zero-pollution delivery vehicles by collaborating with consumers and industry, was launched by NITI Aayog in September 2021 with the support of Rocky Mountain Institute (RMI) based in the United States (US) and RMI India.

·                The campaign intends to increase the use of electric vehicles (EVs) in urban delivery and increase consumer awareness about the advantages of zero-pollution delivery.

·                In India, urban freight vehicles account for 10% of freight transportation-related Carbon Dioxide (CO2) emissions, and these emissions are expected to rise by 114% by 2030.

·                Shoonya will facilitate India’s five-point agenda (Panchamrit) to cut carbon emissions and secure its 2070 climate targets, as outlined at the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) Conference of the Parties (COP 26).

 

11.           PADMAJA NAIDU HIMALAYAN ZOOLOGICAL PARK OF DARJEELING BECAME BEST ZOO IN INDIA

·                The Padmaja Naidu Himalayan Zoological Park (PNHZP) in Darjeeling, West Bengal has been recognized as the best zoo in India. 

·                Arignar Anna Zoological Park in Chennai, Tamil Nadu has secured the 2nd position, followed by the Sri Chamarajendra Zoological Gardens in Mysore, Karnataka.

·                A zoo directors conference was held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where the Central Zoo Authority released the ranking list.

·                The Red Panda is one of the main attractions of PNHZP, besides other animals such as the Himalayan Black Bear, Snow Leopard, Goral and Himalayan Thar.

 

12.           TCS BECOMES INDIA’S MOST VALUABLE BRAND IN 2022

·               According to the Kantar BrandZ Most Valuable Indian Brands 2022 report, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has emerged as India’s most valuable brand, with a brand value of ~USD 45.5 Billion.

·                TCS has replaced HDFC Bank, valued at USD 32.7 billion , which held the 1st position since the Kantar BrandZ India ranking was launched in 2014. 

·                HDFC Bank has ranked number two on the 2022 rankings.

·                Infosys (USD 29.2bn) which has rocketed up to no.3 from 12th position, and ICICI Bank (USD 11bn) which has climbed two places to no.9.

·                State Bank of India (USD 13.6bn) has also risen four places to no.6.

·                The other top 10 companies include Airtel, Asian Paints, State Bank of India, Life Insurance Corporation (LIC), Kotak Mahindra Bank, ICICI Bank and Reliance Jio.

·                The top 10 most valuable Indian brands together contribute to over half of the total value of the ranking.

 

13.           ROBIN UTHAPPA ANNOUNCES RETIREMENT FROM CRICKET

·                Indian cricketer Robin Uthappa, a part of the Indian cricket team that won the 2007 T20 World Cup, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket.

·                He made his international debut in 2006 and featured in 46 One Day Internationals (ODIs) and 13 T20Is for India.

 

14.           SAFF U-17 CHAMPIONSHIP

·                India clinched the 2022 SAFF (South Asian Football Federation) under-17 (U-17) Championship title after defeating Nepal by 4-0 score in the final match in Racecourse Stadium Colombo, Sri Lanka.

·                India’s captain Vanlalpeka Guite was named as the ‘Most Valuable Player of the Tournament’.

·                India’s goalkeeper Sahil won the ‘Best Goalkeeper awards’.

 

15.           NATIONAL ENGINEERS DAY 2022 – SEPTEMBER 15

·                National Engineer’s Day is celebrated annually across India on September 15 to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat Ratna Awardee Sir Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya, who is considered one of the greatest engineers of India.

·                Sri Lanka and Tanzania also celebrate Engineers Day on 15th September to honour Sir M Visvesvaraya’s contributions.

 

16.           INTERNATIONAL DAY OF DEMOCRACY 2022- SEPTEMBER 16

·                The United Nations (UN)’s International Day of Democracy is annually observed across the world -on 15 September to mark the importance of democracy and create awareness among people about democratic rights.

·                On 8th November 2007, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) adopted the resolution A/RES/62/7 and proclaimed the 15th September of every year as the International Day of Democracy.

 

17.           MAHARASHTRA BECAME FIRST STATE TO DIGITISE PROPERTY REGISTRATIONS

·                The Government of Maharashtra has initiated the online registration of properties to be sold by realty developers to digitise the process, which will also involve the usage of Blockchain technology.

·                The portal launched for e-registration is called ‘Self Help’, this helps homebuyers to upload their own template for the agreement, which once approved can be used by the developers for several such transactions.

·                Maharashtra Government is the 1st state to enable e-registrations of first-sale property.

·                The homebuyers of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) approved the e-registration, which has the option to register their sales agreement online.
