1. UNION GOVERNMENT UNVEILS NATIONAL CAPITAL GOODS POLICY 2016
i. The Union Government has Launched a National Capital Goods Policy 2016 to give importance to the capital goods sector and the Make in India initiative.
ii. It was announced on the occasion of the Make in India Week held in Mumbai, Maharashtra.
iii. It is for the first time that Union Government has framed such national policy for the capital goods sector.
iv. Key features of Policy
a.       Increase exports of capital goods from the current 27% to 40 % of production.
b.      Increase share of domestic capital goods production in order to make India a net exporter of capital goods.
c.       Facilitate improvement in technology depth, increase skill availability and promote growth and capacity building of MSMEs.

2. INDIAN RAILWAYS WON 36TH NATIONAL CHESS TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP
i. Indian Railways grabbed the 36th National Chess team Championship in Bhubaneswar, Odisha.

i. American publishing company Time Inc has announced the winners of the TIME India awards for honouring leaders for manufacturing excellence in India at Switzerland.
ii.  The awards is given in three categories such as Best in class manufacturing, manufacturing innovator of the year and Young maker of the year.
iv. Tata Steel won the award for best in class for manufacturing, Hero Moto Corp was honoured with the manufacturing innovator of the year and Yogesh and Rajesh Agrawal of Ajanta Pharma Limited were honoured with the TIME India Young Maker of the Year award.
6. INDIA FINISHED AT TOP WITH 308 MEDALS IN SOUTH ASIAN GAMES 2016
i. 12th South Asian Games 2016 finished at the Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium in Guwahati, Assam.
ii. About 2600 athletes from India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldives.
